Seasoned warrior here. Don't use Heroic strike much levelling. It's not worth it. The bonus damage is minimal and you get 0 rage from that swing. Levelling you are often rage starved and sunder is better. just sunder up and auto attack. Overpower is your friend, and later whirlwind and eventually mortal strike. It doesn't say it in the tool tip but Heroic strike is a TANKING ability, some bonus damage, but it also has bonus threat above the damage as well. Use it as a rage dump when tanking, not a mainline damage ability soloing. edit: it also removes the offhand hit penalty when active, thus is invaluable at top tier for generating rage... but again, not that useful
If the mob is going to die soon HS is way more damage than sunder. And threat shouldn't matter because you should be comfortable tanking as a warrior anyways. You'll gain more rage from taking damage and do more damage. HS > Sunder on short fights always.
@@dpmesse Yeah banking it is good. I'm also thinking at a low lvl. At low lvls I'd almost always HS over Sunder Armor. And yeah if the mob is really about to die just bank it then go into the next with back to back HS and then it's basically dead. It is always a good idea to have some rage for the next mob and do your damage early so you can build good threat. On 3+ mobs I'd say a Thunder clap is worth. (Talking tanking at low lvls)
@@Az00069 TC is only so-so. It's damage and threat is poor in Vanilla and you have to be in battle stance which further nerfs its threat, no multiplier... If you can work it in during the initial pull of a pack (Charge->sweeping strikes->whirlwind->def stance) fine. It IS a good debuff, one of 2 reliable attack speed debuffs available (other is Thunderfury which is better) I still maintain that at very low levels sundering up a mob, then banking rage to charge to the next one and repeat is better than HS unless you are in the black rage-wise. If you have surplus, by all means spend it. In raids you have a DPS warrior Tclap until you have a Thunderfury.
Warriors are oddly subtle, and a lot of the vanilla abilities don't even give good info on what the ability even does. Heroic strike has bonus threat, but it doesn't say that... Know what? So does cleave! it's not as much as HS, but you do get 2 targets hit.... How blocking and other mitigation really works, how crit immunity works, how Shield Slam works (it looks ok at face value but doesn't scale almost at all...) Why the odd Fury-prot is the best tanking build EVEN USING A SHIELD. Why Arms is not that viable as a DPS spec (raiding wise). So many people don't really seem to notice that all the good, defensive, and really tanky bits of prot tree are in the top 3 rows and you get them with Fury/prot spec. Add in that Flurry is just stupidly good, Enrage is actually a benefit to getting Crit as a tank, and Bloodthirst scales with gear and buffs WAY BETTER than shield slam (or Mortal Strike).
Piercing Howl is a bait talent in hardcore, keeps mobs leashed while only lasting 6seconds.
I still recommend Arms to level. Fury needs gear to start the crazy scaling, you don't have that levelling... and Prot is crap

Can you share more specific macros for warriors? For switching stances and switching weapons
