When I started I liked to watch those fl studio tutorials such as "How to Sound like Madeon" and just watch those and creating my own take really helped me learn about production skills and eventually lead to what kind of music I like to make. The most important thing is that you enjoy what you're making.
Some of the sounds I used from serum are from the Snail's House Sample pack, I am not sure if the pack is still available. Just try your best to experiment and create the sounds.

The sidechain is a random bus docked to the left side. Basically the sounds i want sidechained are routed into that bus so its easier to control

Thats just the default look of FLs piano roll.
If you go into the piano roll. There is this arrow at the top left of the window. Press that and click view and you can change the piano roll style

I'd used sine, triangle, or square with portamento. If you want you could add some sort of bit crush distortion.
