One thing about 6v6 that I think is better, is the ways to play the game. Sam and the crew played rush, with rein, Winston rush, Winston dive, ball dive and a cool brawl poke hybrid on Hollywood where the ram can sit down and anchor with a high damage output backline like bap zen, and then hold off their supports while the off tank can deal with the rest of the team, there just seems to be a lot more options 3:19:20.
Although they lost that fight, you just had more freedom and there are more layers to add complexity, that just isn’t possible in 5v5

Dude the 6v6 was so much better. The pace of the game was perfect. Damage characters looked fun, tanks were killable.
I think some of the tank comps weren’t great but once people are used to tank synergies the game would be a lot better than 5v5.

Any game can have a high ceiling for pro play, the real question is how much having a pro scene takes from the casual experience since without casuals youll have no viewers.
And overwatch unlike all the games you named is a totally different game depending on your rank, opposed to valorant where the biggest things separating the casuals from the pros is just aim, understanding of when to push or hold corners and all that basic shooter stuff. Meanwhile 90% of your matches in overwatch had bastions, reapers and junkrats terrorizing the lobbies but when you watch pros they just didnt even touch these heros because theyre lame and terrible in the meta because they already terrorized low ranks so buffing them would have made it unplayble.
Now this happens in league i think but thats also different because its not as mechanically involved, whereas overwatch required you to like mobas and fps games which is already gonna be a hard sell after the honeymoon phase wears off and if that wears off for you and every game you have is just bastion hiding behind an orisa and rein shield with doubke pocket than who really wants to play that? Ofc watching overwatch makes it seem amazing when the pros are doing amazing stuff together but like the most teamwork you woukd experience was the bastion bunker and as someone who has been stuck gold in this game since the launch i can confidently say the games 100x more fun for me now in 5v5.
And i remember waiting for some big content creator to talk about bastion or something that plagued my games and made the game feel miserable but all you guys ever spoke about was your issues which we never even seen, like baps never been an issue for me or sigma or any of these and thats the disconnect.
And i dont wanna hear content drought either because me and my friend's played tf2 for years without any content same with paladins because these games didnt feel like absolute aids to play in gold and in fact paladins had the opposite problem where its loyal fan base wanted less content as it was actually starting to make the game to hard to keep up with so if you just make a good casual experience than your games gonna be inna good spot and thats exactly what 5v5 has done for the game. Its sad it has to be at the cost of the pro scene and the top players but thats just how overwatch and any hero shooter is gonna have to be i think and its why when flats asked the game director about their competition, they viewed it as they have non because they trully dont, those games cab focus on both casual and pro play flawlessly while overwatch simply cant or if it can it would take the best overwatch minds all coming together to scientifically craft the game and than be suoer careful never to break it so as long as they focus on making it a fun game for you and your friends to play in gold to diamond than its gonna succeed regardless of what you think.
