It's honestly really sad that Custa basically implied that Blizzard shouldn't try fixing problems (tank issue, or others) because people will always find new problems to complain about. "Because nothing will ever be perfect".

Honestly Custa is such a hypocrite, at least in this clip. He's being nasty, and name calling, and being rude, and then accusing Samito of spreading hate and being a "Ben Shapiro" type. I don't think Custa meant anything political regarding the Ben Shapiro comparison -probably moreso just the simple fact that Shapiro is someone who's known for arguing and debates -and that's probably the light he sees Sam in too. But it just shows he doesn't actually listen and pay attention to what Sam's saying, because if he did, he'd realize that Sam is simply a man advocating for the game to be the best it can possibly be. No more no less. And a person like that doesn't just fold over and take it in the ass when daddy Blizzard is being a dumb bitch for the 7th time in a season.

As someone who pretty much never played the original Overwatch with 6v6 I kind of feel like its pretty odd how theres people who don't even wanna give 6v6 a single chance. At a certain point it doesn't matter if "you're looking at the past with rose tinted glasses" because even if thats true at the end of the day theres still gonna be somebody that enjoys it and theres no point in keeping players from even trying it and testing it out for themselves. They're willing to change so many heros and so much stuff about the game pretty much every patch. Then they wanna test stuff with quickplay hacked but they've never even once tried any form of 6v6. I just don't understand what the issue is and why they can't even test it out and let us play it because at a certain point they might as well let us try it so just in case it is bad so then they can be like "you see 6v6 isn't good" (only after they've tried balancing it a bunch ofc). But if they won't even do that then it just makes no sense once so ever to keep players from seeing what they like more and its kind of weird to tell people "no you don't like 6v6" because it doesn't matter whether or not something is actually good or bad, it never sounds right to tell people what they themselves do and don't like thats just nonsense.
The reason why they do that is because most of them are Blizzard shills who just worship whatever Blizzard does and says.
Plus the fact that being a content creator that licks Blizzard's boots gets you free stuff like skins, battle passes, early access to heroes and recently some of the biggest bootlickers went to drive Porsches thanks to the collab between Porsche and Overwatch.
if i may be a bit paranoid, i would say they CAN'T change to 6v6. The amount of backpush they constantly give to the idea makes me think their new engine Overwatch 2 works with is not capable of having more players in each match. Remember the most basic mechanics like the on fire mechanic was not even implemented right months after release. I really start to think that something in their coding does not allow a fluid enough gameplay experience in a 12 man lobby compared to a 10 man lobby.
BUT that's just being paranoid.
@@Desgaroth There is literally a community around a broken ass workshop in the game where people play 6v6 in custom games regardless. (It works, just within workshop's limitations)
@@Nayutune thanks for pointing that out, since i do not follow the game close enough anymore to know what gamemodes people play. so the workshop makes 6v6 possible. Then there's no reason to be so against the idea.
I genuinely can’t stand a lot of these creators anymore. I’ve watched all the content, I’ve heard all the perspectives and I’ve come to the conclusion that most of them just argue at how dumb the idea of going back to 6v6 is, none of them ever make any real arguments based on facts or evidence, they never give any ideas for solutions other then just let blizzard balance the game they will figure it out. All they do is talk shit like Custa and avoid any real debate. The only one that ever debates it is Jake and his arguments are always about his own enjoyment and high level play and never about average players and facts.
There's a special type of irony in a non-tank player telling everyone who plays and hates tank that they're wrong. It's okay Custa, you're right. The issue is fixable. The last 30 patches failed to address the issues with tank, maybe one of the next 50 patches will "fix" tank. We'll get it right one of these seasons.. maybe season 25 is the special number.

i watched the recent group up podcast and one of the solutions to the tank problem was to literally delete the tank role and make them big dps. absolute clownery.

Any point up until the announcement of OW2 everyone would have said “there is no world where OW goes to 5v5” and look where we are. It’s just wild to me this new dev team is committed to forcing this format to work with multiple patches more drastic than anything tried during OW1 even in the midst of GOATS/double shield and they still can’t fix it. Sooner or later they have to reconcile with the fact that 5v5 only exists because the OW1 devs were bad at their jobs regarding balancing. And it’s funny too that the problems of OW, format aside, are the same problems that made OW1 suffer- immortalities, AOE healing, CC, unkillable tanks, etc. 5v5 just forces more of this bad design but in 6v6 you’d actually be able to turn the situation around. OW has been on a downward trend since Brig release and we’ve only had moments of false hope with role queue, Oct 2020 patch, and OW2 launch. We have never been “so back” if we were we’d be getting 100k views on twitch again and non-OW streamers would actually come in and grind the game. I just hope we get 6v6 before the 10th anniversary of OW1.
Also- Samito is the Kyle Kulinski (SecularTalk on TH-cam) of Overwatch. Kyle almost never misses on politics, and if he does he admits it and is open with his audience about that and why he was mistaken. Kyle has never taken a cent from an advertiser and only receives revenue from Google running ads on his videos and grassroots support from his community on Patreon etc, much like Sam has spoken the truth about this game for 5+ years. Kyle is a broken record on medicare for all the same way Sam is a broken record on 6v6, because the problems have not changed. Love them or hate them, they just want the game (America) to be the beat it can be. Also, Kyle destroys Ben Shapiro on a regular basis. If anyone is the Ben Shapiro of Overwatch, it’s Jake clearly making Blizzard approved arguments and stating he doesn’t care about the tank player’s experiences (or in Ben’s world, X minority group’s experiences and struggles). Custa lost a lot of my respect here. Sam already had a ton but has gained more respect for taking this slander so maturely.
but why not let them work on 5v5 like they did with 6v6 to get to a more stablize format, you all remember the good times of 6v6 and that was like 2019-2020? like 3 years after they launch ow1, let them figure things out first and if they cant, well then they should listen and revert back to 6v6

@@angeltorres9232 The thing is, OW started out more as a casual game, only with the Introduction of RoleQ in 2019, did they try to make it more competitive.
But they instantly abandoned the game in 2020, so OW1 and 2-2-2 got effective 10 Months of Balancing and they did figure out 1 Good Patch (Oct 2020) and instantly demolished that for 0 reason.
Meanwhile OW2 has had 19 Months of balance patches, surely we already had like 30 - 40 patches, way more than RoleQ OW1 had, and its still in a way worse spot.
They can try 5v5 for another year, another 20 patches, but as someone who played OW1 since 2016, is high rank on all roles (and thinks he understands the game) i cant see any way to make 5v5 work without runining the experience for another role, or ruining the indiviual feel of Tanks.
Btw. not trying to sound arrogant, but i just watched so many streamers/pros trying to come up with fixes, even thought of some myself, but nobody found a satisfying solution to 5v5, so in my mind 6v6 is better (Im biased a bit though, miss tank duos, less counterswaps and more freedom)
@@heiko2255 yeah i really dont care about the format, 5v5, 6v6, whatever makes the game great, but i think part of why 5v5 isnt satisfying is from problems that the game suffered long before 5v5 and with it now in the mix, its now more notorious, so they gotta figure that shit out first i guess, and 5v5 will be more viable
Here how the argument would go: why did we go 5v5 in the first place? To balance queue times across all roles. But it's a worse experience, we know it's worse, but we lose more customers from longer queue times than from offering a sh*t sandwich, so it's really your willingness to eat the sh*t sandwich, it's not on us, it's just business. So in reality, this is really a lesson in patience and quality. Fast and good won't be cheap, good and cheap won't be fast, fast and cheap won't be good. It's that simple. The division in the community is what's stopping it, people are selfish, and 80% of the players, by design, aren't tank players, and they don't want to lose what they have, they don't want to sacrifice a little bit of their queue time for the overall betterment of the whole. What's good about faster queue if you keep getting terrible games, I don't get it, I'd rather wait for you to cook the meal properly than to be served some undercooked mess.
And then tank players stop playing for good and queue times get worse again
Thats bs, healer q times can be 1 min to 8 min. Dps q times range from 2 min to 7 and tank q is damn near instant. Anyone who os competent would make 6v6 with 2,2,1tank and one flex, but that would require someone at blizz to be competent.
This is a direct attack on Sam's character, and an attempt to silence the voice his channel has in the OW community. Being the "bigger man" here is commendable, but I don't think it's wise to just take this one on the chin.
Reminder that Samito's content is always about the gameplay or overall state of the game. Custa putting a political spin on his call out exposes that he has an agenda in starting this drama.

"Everyone will always find something to complain about" seems like a cop-out. I play Street Fighter at Master rank (the highest rank in the game outside of the top 500). The difference is that Capcom sees what the community thinks is poorly balanced, and they fix it, even though their major patches only come once a year. It might not be in the exact ways we ask for, but even just QoL changes that never matter in 99% of your games will get fixed. It feels like Capcom actually plays their game. As a result, no reasonable person ever complains about the game as a whole or Capcom's balancing team.
If Blizzard's idea of fixing the tank problem is "let's make tanks into end-game raid bosses so DPS and supports can be bullied more easily" then I really don't think they are ever gonna get it right without going back to 6v6.
And for the record I like Custa, but I think it is fair to say that Custa is just a bandwagon Samito hater. Because he has clearly never watched a single minute of Samito's videos or else he wouldn't be saying any of this.

Sharing a viewpoint via a video game about common agree issues isn't spreading hate; labeling it as such is a lazy and unthoughtful response. The goal should be to have respectful debates about the game's challenges, where different perspectives come together to agree on shared problems. Do I believe Content creators are contractually obligated to hype up Overwatch as much as possible? No, but do I think they will never tell whole truths because they want to remain in the good graces of Blizzard, getting invited to summits, access to discord server, and early access to content? Absolutely and you are DUMB if you think otherwise
I know its not a perfect example, but recently played some open Q comp as tank. Every match with 2 tanks was a lot of fun and less stressful than solo tanking. Even with 1 aoe healer it felt more manageable. Also what if OW rotated the format every 2-3 seasons, that could be a way to keep the game feeling fresh. I play every role and a lot of heroes so enjoying that kind of constant change may be something most other people dislike.
FR if 6v6 is that bad then how come 85% (Or more) of all Open queue games I play (QP or Comp) are usually 2 tank. I reckon half the people saying that the majority don't want 6v6 never even play open queue
Edit: They could even just make 6v6 an arcade mode and see how popular it is
I think the better solution would be to allow 5v5 an 6v6 queues for all the same modes an then fix queue times by allow players to multi-queue an jump into the first mode that pops.

Because with a new queue system like that it could open up the possibility for lots of more ranked game modes without impacting queue times (in theory or at least as much as the current system does). Imagine having an actual serious 3v3v3v3 team deathmatch mode. But whatever the case, a multi-queue system would actually allow OW to evolve with the trends in shooters...but deep down we know that wont happen.

3 month ago i got a long blizzard questionnaire (40 minute to answer) on overwatch and some of the question was about 5V5 and 6V6 .The question has been posed like 5 time in a diffrent way. So the question has been or is discussed internally.

The best we have so far is the workshop code "khtg0" (OW1 6v6 re-created). Visuals are a little awkward because it's workshop, but ability-wise and functionally-wise - it's extremely accurate.
There is also "7HSKW" (OW2 6v6)
I remember when people brought back the classic version of WoW, initially as a third party project that gained a lot of popularity, thus Blizzard had to eat it and make it official. Someone has to do the same with OW1, name it OW Classic.

@samito, ima be honest with you a couple years ago when I first stumbled upon you, I thought You were aggregate. but after watching you I realized you do back the things up that you say. and you are a top level player. that being said, I think alot of people take that first impression of you, from out of context clips, or clips to put you in a bad light and just run with it. when if they took the time to get past the surface level, they can actually understand and perceive where you are coming from. To this day the most impressive thing that you did to me, was say you would actually try going pro, you sacrificed a lot of viewership, and you made it to the finals in contenders and went undefeated majority of the way through. you do what you say and I respect that as a Man.

I don't hate the dude or wish any ill will towards him, but it's either insanely deliberate misframing or he's just arguing out of pure frustration and letting it seep into his words. "People will always find something to complain about." This is 100% true. They will. Let's look at a hypothetical here:
Say you have a game with millions of players. Everyone is doing great things are good. Now say the devs make a change that causes a big problem. And the devs stand by this problem until the game is reduced to the tens of thousands. When people ask why it's not getting fixed, they're told oh well it isn't really a problem, people just complain about everything. And the numbers continue to decline.
Now these numbers don't accurately reflect Overwatch but the point is just because people will always complain it doesn't mean that there is never a problem. Overwatch's player numbers are way down, and they're making up for this with agregiously priced skins.
I've said this before. I'm less mad that Overwatch 2 is the way it is than I am that they simply deleted the game that I love and told me that it's better. That isn't for them to decide.

I mean I can only speak for myself here but I’ve been playing since the launch of OW1 and I’ve enjoyed 5v5 for what it is. But it’s not Overwatch, the team based shooter we love. Because there isn’t a way apparently to fix the tank role without it either being OP to the detriment of other roles or it being a role where you are existing to gather the cc and constantly being denied to play the game. I’ve been playing the game almost every day but I’m finally about to give up, being for 6v6 isn’t because we hate the game or like to go against the devs but honestly they don’t have the solution we are X seasons into this circlejerk of finding a fucking balance that doesn’t exist in this format. And I’m actually close to uninstalling the game for the first time since launch, I loved this game it fucking sad. And clowns like Custa sold their soul and spin the whole narrative of us being hateful because we’re passionate about fixing this game we love.
I remember when last year’s grand finals when Custa decided to make his casting debut in lieu of Lemonkiwi and Legday. They earned the right to cast that and I think it was very unbecoming of him to even take that opportunity knowing full well that they were available to cast. I have been following Samito since 2018-ish, and this personally speaks to me on the topic of people not accepting one's change of character. Prior to finding Christ, I have been an awful person, and I indeed have made an effort to become diffident - and much like with Sam turning his whole brand around (nothing to be ashamed of, we were who we were), it's sad to see how much people scream positivity and yet, refuse to accept someone's trying to change for the better. People still see Sam as some kind of lunatic who flies off the handle with and without reason despite the obvious work he put into it. It's like they love their previous image of Sam more than the fact he actually worked out the things he saw as issues.

The leaver penalty’s even existing in quick play is blasphemy to me when backfill is so quick. Ranked changes were supposed to be good but turned out ass. I just haven’t been playing the game at all. Been invested in other games. It’s really sad how far down the rabbit hole blizzard is willing to go before saying yeah. We made a mistake. And just make good changes.

Samito belongs on a podcast like "Uncoachable," not "Group Up." Leave "Group Up" for the soft PC types and go somewhere speaking your mind and holding a position isn't going to get you bashed by other people on the panel. It's not like Custa really adds much to those discussions, anyways. It's mostly just him writing off things and saying "If not this, then that... so, why should I care?" Why do you go on a debate podcast and say that you are not going there to debate? Go play ranked, then, and let someone willing to defend a position and hopefully inform us on some things that we may not have thought about go and participate. I didn't know SVB's podcast was only a marketing springboard for OWCS affiliates and streamers.

The best episodes of Group Up have had participants like Jake, Samito, Flats, AVRL and Freedo on them. Lately, it's been a lot of Custa, Yeatle and others who just sort of sit there and don't have much to contribute to the "debate" or discussion. I barely watch anymore.
