Absolutely love these cars. I have a gen 1 Legend (1988) and I will never again get rid of it. Long story short, I sold my Legend on OfferUp 2 years ago and instantly regrated it. I had sellers' remorse. I kept looking for Legends after that because I never got over my car. Funny thing was that the Legend that I sold ended up back on OfferUp about 2 years later! I bought my car back. I'm not letting this car go ever again. Enjoy this car. They are gems to own, especially right now.
I just heard from somebody recently who said the same thing about how easy they are to steal. I know it was common with Hondas/Acuras from this era. Thanks bro!
I remember back in the day learning all the trim levels and features of the Legend. Loved the GS rims especially the chrome ones. These cars used to be dirt cheap many years ago on the used market. Rusted quarters were common like all Hondas from the 90s.
Let’s keep it simple. I see all sorts of comments which is great. When you buy a Legend that doesn’t come with current maintenance documents, you do everything. If you don’t have a trusted mechanic that’s a separate issue for people. One of the main things is to find out if this year model had head gasket issues. If so do the fix before it could be an issue. I heard the egr caused head gasket failures but not sure if that was on the type 2 motors as well. For me, if I was planning long highway drives I would consider replacing the radiator and alternator/battery. Every fluid and maintenance item would be replaced with new. (Honda tranny fluid). This is just what anyone would do if the funds were available. Everything mechanical would be inspected for wear. If I was on a budget I’d do the bare minimum to make sure it’s reliable. I had a 5 spd sedan and even though not a ton of horsepower, it’s such a great car on the highway. I’m sure everyone wanted a gs type 2. But the base model with cloth seats is great because the seats are soft and can last longer.
@@portcitykg yea gs 6spd type 2 is on everyone’s wish list but the 5 spd manual is already perfect for driving up to 100 mph. 2 main issues Legends had were blown head gaskets, and a bump in the shift from 1st to second on the automatic trans. Head gaskets blew due to poor design in the valve cover gasket. That’s on TH-cam somewhere. The 3.5 RL fixed that issue. Also A/c systems have some sort of design flaw I’ve heard.
So good to hear somone else say "I love this car". I have a 1994 L 4 door. I love it so much. I'm still in the middle of bringing it back but still loving every moment of owning it. I"ve had my fair share of saying this car is driving me crazy moments but still not enough for me to say I don't love this car.
I had an opportunity to but one of these cars back in the nineties. A friend of a friend had one that was just a couple years old. Don't know why I didn't buy it. I would love to have a six-speed coupe, but a sedan would be welcome. Not in the budget right now, but someday.
@@portcitykg KG, bad news! that legend coupe down in Fredericksburg, is no damn good. lots wrong from cracked windshield to lots of wear, to ...get this....almost overheated when I was parked for about 2 mins with AC on. stay away from that one! maybe imma get a 4 door....still looking! btw I'm a cloud / AI guy....just passed another certification last night! Yo T here in Utah. Got a very clean 94L. Saw your ABS light. Fortunately, there is a guy right there in your area that rebuilds ABS module. Go to u tube and type in Acura legend ABS repair. You may find the video of him doing my ABS rebuild.
Nice just bought me one for $1,200 I was going too sell it cuz it owes $908 on tags (since they from 2014 )”. I ended up realizing what I had tho these cars kinda rare
@@user-hk9pn1iy8g no it’s not a major concern, unless you are really having some brake issues. I actually just got my brakes inspected at the Acura dealership here and all was good. No road trips recently.
I think you gotta research more... you said the pricey job of timing belt and water pump at 180k.... mean while your at 130k which is past the same service... same with egr etc.
@@portcitykg hey kg what is the checking of the EGR valve do? is that to make sure that your head gasket isn't going to fail? and how do you check the EGR valve for proper operation wouldn't you just change it out because it's probably a low-cost item? trying to learn as much about these cars as I can! urr channel rocks!
no its not lmao its probably his abs pump is bad... since when its 80's tech in a 90's car urgent? that abs is so dated when it does work its not as good as modern stuff or even just using your foot without abs.

Man the Legend always been my favorite car.. I'm from Newark NJ and they used to get stolen all the time.. Love the car tho bruh.

Yup, you have some fine taste. Legend is car I wanted in high school and still looking for low mileage car in my 40's
Thank you! I love the Legends. You will find one, keep looking!
@portcitykg would you feel comfortable taking it on a road trip?

Have you had to get the engine or transmission replaced or just regular maintenance?
Just regular maintenance, I haven’t replaced anything. Still original
Ayyyye
I swear you look like someone in Rochester Ny!
I always get that I look like somebody lol
8:37 dude in Rochester has like 7 legends in his back yard. He has parts.

Thanks bro, I appreciate the sub! You can’t go wrong with either. I like the RL’s too. My sister had one back in the day.
Man this is the perpect Legend. Gold package Chrome wheels and a rear spoiler. Did you buy it with the Chrome wheels?
Thanks bro! Yea the chrome wheels came on it!
Did you ever get abs light thing on the dashboard fixed?
I haven’t just yet. I know it’s a common thing with Legends, but I’ll get around to it
@portcitykg um is it a safety concern the abs warning light?

Theres still plenty of parts for 90s honda accord new body and engine why not this one?
Accords are nice, but this is a classic!
Also why didn't you buy an 1999-2003 acura tl much easier to find parts? Or 1994 honda accord?
I had tunnel vision for the Legend. I knew what came with buying one, and I’m here for it 💪🏾
