Have you ever seen the procedure where you take a thin straw and slide it up from the bottom of the Barre and it takes out the Green Top I saw a video on it somewhere and I've tried it several times I loved it
I discovered this years ago and do it even with ripe strawberries because of the juice it creates. One thing tho, I have always added just a pinch of salt because salt brings out the natural flavors. What are your thoughts? Maybe there’s a reason not to use salt. Curious?
I'm like you... I prefer my strawberries in slices. That way I don't have a mouthful of strawberry (unless I'm in a mood where I'd like a mouthful of them) and I get a mix of flavors in whatever I'm adding them to. And, OMGOSH, YES strawberries are AWESOME over some nice butter pound cake with homemade whipped cream. Fattening but oh so good!
Please forgive this 76 year old man...I'm really not trying to be a wiseguy here. I guess this word is just not used that much in everyday conversations. When you first used it, I thought: 'Wait a minute...you can't do that to a strawberry!' So then I paused and rewinded a bit to hear it again. No luck...it still sounded the same. Finally I turned on Closed Captions and the light came on...eureka! The word she was using was, 'macerated'. But now I'm wondering if I'm the only sick puppy out there?
I’m 71 years ago in stores they sold sliced frozen strawberries in a white plastic container with lots of juice when it defrosts. Sure I can buy fresh but sorry I love a lot of juice to put on my bid quick strawberry shortcake so fresh doesn’t make enough juice to please me for the (actually dropped biscuits) cake I don’t like too many strawberries on my shortcake with fresh whipped cream. Problem, can’t find those frozen straw. In syrup Anywhere lately for quite a few years anyone know where I can get any??? Thanks 😊👋🏻
Really? Someone needed to be taught this? I never heard of the word, but I have been adding sugar to sliced strawberries and letting them sit in the fridge for a couple of hours or all night for strawberry shortcake or all kinds of things. I thought everyone did that. Hmm? We live and learn.
You can use an egg slicer and monk fruit works well if people are watching their sugar intake.
Great tip! 😊😊
Monk fruit, what is That 😊?

I have tried it a time or 2. It’s a pretty neat trick. 😊😊
These strawberry’s look yummy
I love adding a small splash of lemon or lime juice in addition to the sugar, it really brightens up the flavour 😋
Couldn't agree more! 😊
I’ll definitely try that next time! Thanks!
@@mommabierman5168 You're welcome! I prefer the lime, try adding a little zest to strawberry rhubarb pies ☺️
The background music makes me smile😊😊😊😊

The sugar just brings out so much flavor I haven’t ever found the need to use salt. 😊
@@SugarSpunRun awesome, thanks! When I first learned of this method, my neighbors laughed and thought I made up the name!!
They’re awesome on brownies also!
Love that combo! 😋

I love to add a squeeze of lemon to this. I add some zest when making it into ice cream 🍨 😛yum
Me too! It makes the berries taste brighter and fresher 🍋
Grandchildren love strawberries... I usually put them in a bowl with a lid, add the sugar and gently shake..
An easy and delicious snack! ❤
This looks perfectly yummy! 😊

Add a little Grand Marnier to your strawberry's 😋

Sam you looks so beautiful today in that black top. Thanks again for sharing with us.
Thank you! I hope you love them. 😊
Does this revive mushy strawberries?
Unfortunately not. It's going to make them softer.

I didn’t know what macerated was either I thought it was a misspell for Marinated I may be wrong also I’ll look macerated up for the meaning

Is that knife safe? Looks like more micro plastic to our food
It is a ceramic knife.

Yup new tricks are good for everyone to learn. 😊😊
I love fresh strawberries in its own juices but mine never made enough juice for me to have it soak in my shortcake made out of bisquick!
