I attended a service in 2013 that offered gluten-free communion and I was a little shocked. But, later I thought there may be a medical need for it... Unfortunately, it just sounds so "trendy;" alas, all who need it should have it. Why aren't all communion wafers or elements gluten-free?
Only mega churches and new age churches. Most new age churches are straying away from God's message and making their own. Now im not implying our little southern Baptist is perfect and without flaws but its a far cry from these new ones. I went to a mega church that held over a thousand people, it was used for my daughters ballet recital. My first thought was "how could you know everyone here"? You can't! I know that this probably isn’t the place to complain about this, however I have something to say on the whole young people want fog machines and stuff. It’s simply not true. I’m a teenager. I will tell for a fact what we want. We want a group of people we can go to that cares about us when the rest of the world doesn’t seem to. Yes things like fog machines are cool, however that doesn’t mean we don’t like the old stuff. If your couches aren’t the newest design we won’t care. We probably won’t even notice. The best way to go about these things is to do both. Have a worship team that does hymns and modern music. Quite a few of us actually like hymns. Have pews and chairs. I don’t see the big deal. This leads leads me to Youth pastors. If you’re a younger youth pastor straight from college, chances are that you do have many common interest with kids my age. It wasn’t that long ago when you were one. That’s fine. But then we have these guys that are forty or there about starting to try and act more like teens to be one of group. WE DON’T NEED THAT! Just be yourself. If you feel the need to change your entire personality to be part of the group. Than you are not setting a good example for us. Your supposed to show us how to act. In the end, the modern American 21st century church will always disappoint because it's still so far away from what the church actually was in the Bible. If you continue to try to find hope in the modern church and its leaders, you will continue to be disappointed.

Lutheran Church mostly has hymns. Other confessional Lutherans like ELS and AALC will also have proper worship music, real communion, no fog machines and good sermons.

Imagine the apostles firing Jesus xD But the pastor is not Jesus. How to know if he's wrong or if the elder are wrong in firing him? In the Catholic Church, we have many problems, but this we don't. We have what is called apostolic succession. Meaning that once you're blessed and chosen (ordained) by God through the Bishops hands, you are the priest(=spiritual father) . Your spiritual children (=elders) can't decide that you're not their father anymore. If you make mistakes, only those who are in a higher position can impose disciplinary measures. @@armouredryan thanks for your interest. I didn't put it well here. What I was trying to say was that elders in a free church can be compared to your spiritual children. You as a pastor are responsible for teaching the whole congregation right. If the same congregation can decide that you're doing your job poorly, two roles are being mixed. The one of being an elder and being a spiritual child. In the catholic church we don't have this problem because we don't have congregation members who are elders. Instead, we have spiritual children (church members) of the priest and a spiritual father of the priest, which is the bishop. Does it make more sense now?

There was a time when this will be considered blasphemy. Now, its everyday church. Legalistic, manipulative, deceptive, pharisitical church that existed in YASHUAS time. Not even Satire or parody. Yeah I was quite disappointed to discover that a pastor at a church we used to attend was using messages from LifeChurch and NorthPoint. I always assumed that staff in the office was coming up with the visuals and graphics for the messages. Once we found those sites and started going through the sermon series, it was rather eye opening to say the least. We left soon after that and became Anglicans.
This reminds me of a church we attended once around Clarksville; called Hopewell Baptist. After that grueling service of Sunday School with 40 versions of the may pass as a Bible in hell; and a "sermon" on how much money the church takes in... I told my wife, this is the perfect name. Hopewell, where hope comes to die at the bottom of a well. This whole series could be based on this and churches like it.
The biggest thing this points out to me is that, you find people that talk behind your back no matter where you go. I'm a Christian but I HAVE found that in church you can find the MOST hypocritical people. I grew up calling them "Sunday Christians" Mon-Sat they talk smack, cast judgment etc. and then on Sunday it's "I'm your best friend, you're safe here". I'm not saying ALL Christians are like that but a lot are. So we don't go to a building to worship, the Bible tells us that "church" is wherever 2 or more gather to worship. We pray, we devote Sundays to HIM we live our lives mon-sun trying to be the best versions of ourselves but we get to avoid the hypocrisy from those who don't try to better themselves through the word.
