Thank you for your videos and sharing your heart on here, may God bless you and your husband!

I watched this in 2 sessions - gardening season LOL - I 100% agree on the Sunday shopping/errand thing. I found it very hard while homeschooling my kids, concerning extracurricular activities. I needed to sign them up for certain activities to fulfill requirements & it always seemed where Sundays were over scheduled. I would think to myself, don't these people want to be home with their families on Sunday? I remember a time (& I'm not old, but I live rural) where the blue laws were still a thing; no alcohol, no grocery stores & lots of closed gas stations, etc... Now you can buy alcohol any day of the week, where I live & ALL stores are open, & very few close early or open later. The only thing I want to do on Sunday is go to Mass & spend time with my family & visit friends/relatives. A lot of times we even eat leftovers, because I don't feel like cooking ...I think about hosting Sunday dinners like my grandma did, but it seems too much work for a day of rest! I wish we could go back to that time. Church & Family were so much more important to people.
I’m covered in tattoos and I regret getting 99% of them. I got them all before I became a Christian. I spent a lot of money and they are well done, but still, I really wish I would have never gotten them.
I only use glass to store food items. One way I get extra jars as I make everything from scratch I have family that saves their glass jars..from pickles to sauce and then I can use them to store items in.. I save all my mason jars for canning as again we garden and I can and put food up every season to last the remaining year
Thanks for the video. I love the pantry setup. I have been collecting glass for our pantry storage also. We have been blessed by family that donate their gallon and half gallon jars from old pickle jars. We also had a local pizza parlor giving away gallon jars from jalapeños stored there. They just said free to anyone. I definitely have been moving away from using the commercial shampoos and laundry soap to non-toxic. I love the idea about purchasing organic cotton. We also cook on cast iron. We have moved away from corporations that do not support our values and would rather support local and like-minded. It definitely is a journey, and I love the sun tea idea. I have tons of mint and lemon balm.. Praise the Lord.
What a blessing, your local pizza place gives away gallon jars! Those are the best! And so fun how similar of journeys we have been on! And yes you have to try the sun tea, it's my favorite!
I absolutely LOVE this video! Well all of your videos 🤣🫶 But this one especially, I'm finding myself on a journey to live a more health conscious life for my family and needed a video like this! ❤ Thank you for being obedient to your calling God has for you and Scott
I have recently swapped plastic containers and utensils. To glass containers and mason jars and bamboo wooden and stainless steel utensils. I also replaced some of my pots and pans with a cast iron and stainless steel ones. One pot and pan at a time. Still have some nonstick ones to replace. I know they are more hard to care for and maintain but it’s worth it.
I prefer local. Walmart also has been guilty of creating monopolies. We have one local store that, unfortunately, is expensive. We do have a favorite pizza place that is small family owned. It's odd that you mentioned stores closing on Sundays. I am 52, and I can remember when Kroger would be the only store opened on Subdays. When we moved to Florida, they had stores opened on Sunday, but you couldn't buy tobacco or alcohol on Sunday. We observed the Sabbath on Saturday. Saturday is the seventh of the week. Sabado is Spanish for Saturday, the root word for Sabbath.
I am 65 years old. I live in Maine, and when I was young we had something called the blue law. Because of it nothing was open on Sunday. The state did away with that years ago.
You can wrap the rice bag completely in aluminum foil(i haven't tried parchment so cannot speak on that), and heat in the oven. Learned this from my Amish mother in law🙂
This is superior Proverbs 31 living....Supra intentional and mega organized. I definitely want to model those best practices that will give God glory in our home. Help Lord. We want to give you glory. Thank you so much for sharing.😂
They have been finding connections between teflon usage & celiac's ...& so I have been 'nondiagnosed' with some unknown chronic digestive disorder that used to rule my life! Once I tossed all of the teflon & switched to stainless steel & cast iron, I am down to only maybe 5 bouts a year (& that is usually brought on by eating out). I have a few family members with celiacs & they try to avoid gluten, but say MY cooking doesn't bother them (I am using homegrown, homeground wheat berries & all cast iron) so that gives me a clue that it is NOT the wheat, more likely the cooking utensils! I totally agree with you on the Amazon thing...but in many places the destruction has ALREADY taken place. i live in an area that now has NO local economy. Everything in 30-40 minutes away! My dad talks about our closest little town 10 miles away (where he grew up) hosting 4 grocery stores. now there is ONE & the prices are so exorbitant that I cannot afford to shop there! (& they are not 'local', they are a corp.) how does one move forward when the local economy was erased 20 years ago? (serious question, not snarky at all) No one is willing to open businesses on our main street it is so run down & no life, or no one has any capital to start new businesses that they know local society will bypass, due to getting it cheaper on Amazon or at Walmart 30 minutes away. My husband & I try to support local, but we would literally starve, be naked, and our animals would die because ALL we have left are big box stores far away. If I want just chicken feed I have to drive 30 minutes for feed, a 5 minute transaction, & drive 30 minutes back to my house! I end up costing myself so much $ in fuel, for simple transactions. We used to have feed mills in every small hamlet all around us, but no more (& it is still very agricultural), all we have are big box - tractor supply, Runnings, Lowes, Walmart, etc....demoralizing to say the least.
So cool how God works, my husband and I have been taking about making lots of these changes but it seems so daunting to us because we never knew any different growing up so I’m glad I stumbled across this video!!
Thank you for sharing! I stopped shopping at Amazon earlier this year. Around that time I watched a video you did it was a very big help and inspirational as well. Big thanks to both you and Scott!
Love this video! I’d love to start with a new water filter and slowly replacing my wardrobe with natural fibers. I have tattoos from when I was a nonbeliever and I hate them now🤣 thankfully my husband and I have been together forever and are now both believers so he doesn’t judge me for them, but I hate the way they look when I try to wear nice dresses, especially to church! Loved this video Kelli. 🥰
I love this! Very similar to the things we do. Do you ever watch any tv? If not, you do anything for entertainment in the evening? We stopped watching tv for over a year now but still have one in our house that just sits there. We are house hunting for our first homestead and have decided we probably wont take it. Though I do miss the occasional snuggle on the couch on a rainy day to watch nature documentaries lol! Currently we fill rainy days with mostly board games and cooking and now crafts
My husband and I have also been working on some of the same things that ya'll are doing such as shopping locally. I would like to add that when I was youngster living in Texas there was a law that all the stores except grocery stores where closed on Sundays. They eventually changed that, but I thought that was a really good thing to do and it never really impacted me negatively that I can recall. Another store that closes on Sundays is Hobby Lobby because they also have deep Christian values and feel that their employees need a day off. I don't really shop there much anymore, because again, keep your money local, but I always liked that about them. Another fun fact about Hobby Lobby is that they do not use bar codes on their products. Have a wonderful day and can't wait to see you on the next one.
I share all of those same values! There are a few areas I would like to grow in and align my actions more closely with my convictions, but I’ll get there. Thanks for sharing!
Convictions are very personal and come for different reasons. The Lord may use convictions in a persons life in order to be an example or encouragement to another for reasons we may never know. My conviction may get the attention of another that is recognized as driven by ‘something bigger than oneself’ which may then lead that person down a path that eventually maybe provides something they needed or could share with another who needed the info. In recent years my own journey of creating a chemical free living and eating environment has not only helped me but also has opened up opportunities for others to get a much better idea of the devastating effects of those chemicals on our bodies. I’m a Grammy and it’s only been since 2006 after years of health struggles that I started down a clean foods journey. It isn’t 100% perfect but I am not the same person when it comes to the food I buy and prepare for us. My health struggles are very real with the added frustration of the side effects from the prescribed medications. My conviction to keep striving for chemical free living is often inspired by watching great videos by folks willing to share their own convictions as the Lord leads them to do so. You’re a blessing Kelli, thank you for boldly yet with kindness sharing with us. God Bless you.
Love these!! I never thought about underwire!! So many things I hadn't thought of. I did get a small tattoo when i was young, and I regret it, my husband has tattoos too and he also regrets them, uts too expensive to have them removed, but anyway im not at all offended that you're kindly warning others not to if they havnt yet, and for very good reason! Great video!
I'm so glad it was helpful! And so many of you guys have shared similar sentiments with tattoo stories. Someone also said, the process of getting them removed apparently breaks the ink down into your system, so maybe it's best to leave them as is? I've never heard of this before but thought that was interesting.
Another great video Kelli ! I think you would enjoy the book what the Bible says about healthy living. It was very eye opening to us about health. Have a great week!
Thanks Kelli☺️. I knew of and absolutely agree with most of the things you said in this video. You mentioned a few things i hadn't heard of, which I'm keen to try. I'm interested to know your thoughts on the following (maybe in a part 2 of this video): • makeup - should young women wear makeup? How much and how often should makeup be worn? I am in my early 20s and i don't wear makeup. Is it something i should learn to do if i want to attract my future husband? • Toothpaste and oral hygiene - your teeth are very nice and white, so i wondered if you would recommend specific products to help maintain good oral hygiene and to have whiter teeth? • Music - do you have any song/artist/genre recommendations keeping in theme with this video? Do you enjoy music even if the lyrics and/or artist is clearly not aligned with your values? • Fitness - Do you have any recommendations for being fit and strong without compromising on a feminine physique? What workouts, exercises or movements do you incorporate into your life? • Meat - Do you eat meat regularly? What things do you consider when purchasing your meat e.g is it local, grass fed, free range, preservative free etc ? • Accepting ones self- a bit off topic but could you give your opinion on learning to embrace ones insecurities. I know some of my flaws and imperfections could be cosmetically or surgically fixed, but is it better to learn to accept them rather than try and change them? Sorry for bombarding you with so many questions, and if some are too personal feel free to ignore them. I love your videos and really appreciate your point of view. 🥰
I live in rural Arkansas, closest grocery is 10 miles, small town, family-owned. Helman's mayo is $11.49. (I make my own) if you can afford that good for you. All their products are much more expensive than the big stores.
Another great video.. 😊 PS: do you or could you do a video on a Start to Finish how to order from azure standard? I hear a lot of conflicting things when ordering and that it’s confusing and it’s caused me to be a bit reserved to try it out myself .. thanks 😊
Hello, thanks for another great video! lots of useful tips and tricks and thanks for linking the video on cast iron, I too have not known how to correctly use it until now :) Could we maybe have more food or dinner videos or 'a week of meals' for inspiration? Love your content. Thanks Kelli!!
I hope the video is helpful for you! And yes, I can do that, I feel like meal times I'm in the zone and don't feel like recording most times. I could do a video on our most common meals we eat!
We have many of the same convictions and habits but one question I have is where do you buy items you don’t get at Amazon or big box stores? We source almost all of our food locally or from our local food buying club (my husband actually runs our buying club)and a few items from Costco. There are, however, non food items we get at Amazon and Walmart. Some recent purchases have been clothes hangars, paper, air filter for a vehicle, glue- that type of stuff. Where would you buy those random sort of items instead of Amazon or Walmart? I’m genuinely curious and love learning from you! Hope you are having a great week!
Just curious how you deal with store bought items like yogurt, mayo, ketchup, mustard etc that are sold in plastic. I like the idea of all glass storage but some things are hard to avoid. Also, I wonder if even though we switch it out when we bring it home from the store, is it really making any difference since the food has already been sitting in plastic for a good while. What are your thoughts?
Yes, I should have been more clear in the video, I was pointing to our bulk food pantry because shelf stable items I take out and put into my glass jars. Items like condiments or yogurt containers, or even my bulk cheese, will just be as it is in the plastic. I have try alternatives when I can- making our own yogurt from the milk we get, or ketchup in bulk from azure and canning it myself in mason jars to make it in glass and shelf stable. I have bought stasher bags to freeze in. But also at the end of the day, I think all the other things we do make up for the foods that are left in the plastic and it doesn't bother me, nor do I obsess over it!
Scott and I have an old video we did on Shopping Local and touched on why we don't shop from Kroger, here's that video: th-cam.com/video/bAdDyYt2sVs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fdpRxQfoHE2rIlBm And here's a video we did on not shopping from Amazon: th-cam.com/video/hU9MPFdYnjw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8qaq17o0e3OfJvqo I'd like to do an updated video on this topic, so thank you for asking, it shows me there is interest in the subject!
Definitely don't reheat food in the microwave using Styrofoam or plastic--it leaches chemicals. An aging or improperly sealed microwave oven could leak microwave radiation and be bad for health. Possibly microwaves cause intense hotspots that could degrade nutritional value or produce harmful chemical reactions within otherwise ordinary food. An internet search will probably turn up further details. Keep an open but discerning mind as research conclusions may vary widely.
I went without a microwave for years for the same reason she states but then recently came across information by Ray Peat (who she refers to in some of her videos) who states that microwaves don't actually harm your food and don't destroy it's nutritional value any more than boiling something does. Maybe she hasn't heard that portion of his research yet but I was so happy to hear it and I now own a microwave. Lol.
@jason-antoniaburks854 Okay, thank you for this information. I heavily rely on microwaves because we batch the majority of our meals, and we reheat about 70% of our meals. I'll research this guy. Thank you.
Really enjoy these chat videos ! I can’t escape from the nonstick pan just for scrambled eggs . I don’t know the trick with that with cast iron . It always sticks and goes dark colored.
Oh interesting, I'm wondering if your cast iron isn't seasoned enough because it shouldn't stick. But I understand, even the other day I made pancakes and they stuck because mine wasn't seasoned enough and that can be frustrating!
I found that a well seasoned pan, that is good and hot with ample oil/butter is the trick for cooking eggs on cast iron. Occasionally I add the eggs before the pan is hot enough and they stick.
@@homewithkelli thank you for sharing about your pancakes sticking. I think you might be right about the pan not being seasoned enough. I will try again.
@@MommaCoon418 thank you for the tip and commenting ! I was hoping someone might know what I need to do and I will try this method with more butter and a hotter pan. I don’t think I did that before.
Loved this video. A lot to think about and possibly change in my own home. Curious - do you use makeup and, if you do, what brand do you use? Blessings.
Hello Kelli I started to see your videos, good advises. I am in my path to orthodox christianity and also started churches canons studies: did you know that Saint Paul along with Apostles said to follow noachide laws which include to eating meat with its blood (just as jewish) canons in the eastern christianity never cancelled those law ( only western catholics did also for bread as ostia during liturgy) Please take a look to noachide laws that Apostole wanted us to follow . If you need more info about canons please ask me . Regards, Manuela
For those considering a tattoo, please read what your Creator has to say about it. "You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD" Leviticus 19:28. We are made in the image of GOD. If God chose to wear crazy markings on our body, we would have been designed and born that way. Satan is not only out there to destroy you spiritually, it wants to disfigure and destroy the beautiful creation God made...you!
All of the health/shopping stuff sounds great, but it's not affordable for us on the west coast on low single income. Maybe one day!! For now we just do the best we can, eat real foods, and pray♥️ My non stick pan is passed its prime though, and you motivated me to bust out my cast iron skillet again🙌
As a senior on a fixed budget I would recommend rice, dry beans and lentils. You get a lot for a small price…TH-cam has lots of recipes. Also carrots, celery, onion and cucumbers are a great fresh veg to have. Takes a bit more time to prepare but you control the salt and other ingredients. Using these simple ingredients you could make a pot of soup, add cooked rice and some fresh bread and you have a delicious meal with leftovers.❤
I am new to your channel, a fairly new Christian, and I share these practices with you for the most part. I have found many believers downright hostile towards me for having them. And… how do you feel about violent movies and tv shows?
We moved last year and don't have a microwave or a dishwasher. Also, we have been so busy remodeling that we never got around to adding cable or internet. My grandkids wonder how we are surviving 😅
I shop Amazon because we live in a very small town. We have to travel an hour to do any shopping other than groceries. We do not have time to do that every week. I tried to buy a pair of pantyhose on a Sunday back in the 1970’s. I needed them for church. The blue law was in effect and the store couldn’t sell those on Sunday. I didn’t go to church that day. It was stupid!
First....God set apart the 7th day and made it holy..not the 1st day of the week. Second...please read Nehemiah 13:15-21. Especially verse 17.."What is this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day?". People in Judah and from afar were working and selling "all kinds of merchandise" on God's Holy Sabbath day. God does not take this lightly
Thanks, great points. I would encourage you to pray and do some research on which day is the true Sabbath. It was changed and documented by the Roman Catholic Church in the 300s.
My first option is stasher bags, or if it makes sense I'll use mason jars or glass containers, my last resort is storage baggies, which is usually what I end up using for freezing bananas
In Hebrew the word Shabbat literally means Saturday. I would implore you to look into why people rest on Sundays now and no longer observe His Shabbat ❤
@@homewithkelli because in the old testament, specifically in the prophets' portions, God calls out people being tricked into not observing His Shabbat and that He will cause them to observe it again when that last generation receives His Torah and return to Him wholeheartedly. I'm a Bible nerd, I don't listen to theology or sermons because I found that they confused me (just as the Lord said mans teachings and doctrines will do) so I just cling to His Word. He warns that in the last day He will recognize His people by them keeping His Sabbath day, it's a sign between us and Him of our marriage covenant 💞 He calls out all these types of things, even the corruption in His Torah, through the prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Malachi, etc. I've never been to a church that discusses these parts in scripture unfortunately. Or the part about when we start to return to His high Sabbaths/ holy days/ festivals He tells us that we all gather as the great assembly and celebrate the feast of tabernacles (Sukkot) and the ones who don't show up will be cursed. The trumpet blast, we're told in scripture, is the warning call to repentance through the prophets'. So I believe it's very important that we all study those portions. Your videos are always such a blessing to me, I hope this information is a blessing to you!
haha thank you! I bought parchment paper instead and that was an easy switch! I guess I'm so far removed from using it, I'm not even sure what other way it would be used that parchment paper wouldn't work as a swap for it.
I think storing food in non-plastic containers does not make you a better christian..this has something to do with lifestyle...not with our personal relationship with christ..
It's possible that Christ could lead you to storing food in non plastic containers, because it has been proven to be healthy. Christ is the ultimate truth. Christ points to the truth.
Thank you for letting us know of some of the convictions you have had. I’ve had a lot in the last few years also. I have a question. Were you able to get the rusted cast iron pan where it was usable again? I love cast iron but one of mine is rusted. I wasn’t sure if it could be fixed to use again or not. Thanks again for this video! It leaves me with a lot to ponder and pray about! 🩷
Yes! Lodge sells a rust eraser, it's a bit of a labor using it, but it works! I bought a dutch oven that was completely rusted and we were able to completely restore it. I share more of that in the video here: th-cam.com/video/VyY-8LJddYU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pYy8CtgeHAG0aKTR

Yes, Walmart is one we don't go to either!
Learned this from my Amish mother in law🙂
that is such a great idea, thank you!!
I love how passionate you are about living to your values financially too by shopping who aligns with your values. Off to cancel disney + now!
This is superior Proverbs 31 living....Supra intentional and mega organized. I definitely want to model those best practices that will give God glory in our home. Help Lord. We want to give you glory. Thank you so much for sharing.😂
I'm thankful it was encouraging to you! God bless you and the work of your hands!
I love how you give your opinion without judging others. 😊
Thank you so much for saying this. I actually almost took this video down after posting because I didn't want it to come across as condemning anyone.
@@homewithkelli I didn't feel it and I have a tattoo 🤣🤣
They can be removed now
I feel the same way!
@@sharenp3839I’m currently a homeschooling mom on a tight budget but maybe one day! 🤣🤞🏻
Try to view them as part of your testimony.
Hobby Lobby is another great example, thank you for sharing that! And so cool you guys are on a similar journey!!
I haven't heard of that, thank you so much for sharing this, it sounds wonderful!
Love your channel!
Thanks Kelli☺️. I knew of and absolutely agree with most of the things you said in this video. You mentioned a few things i hadn't heard of, which I'm keen to try.
I'm interested to know your thoughts on the following (maybe in a part 2 of this video):
• makeup - should young women wear makeup?
Blessings to You and Scott 💙❤🙏✨
I live in rural Arkansas, closest grocery is 10 miles, small town, family-owned. Helman's mayo is $11.49. (I make my own) if you can afford that good for you. All their products are much more expensive than the big stores.
This was inspirational! Thank you Kelli!
Praise God, I'm glad you liked it!
Another great video..
😊
PS: do you or could you do a video on a Start to Finish how to order from azure standard? I hear a lot of conflicting things when ordering and that it’s confusing and it’s caused me to be a bit reserved to try it out myself .. thanks 😊
When I started your video my sound was off so I rewound it to the beginning so I could hear you say “I hope you’re having a lovely day” 😂
hahaha yes!
Lovely video!
Very good video, thanks! 🙂
I'm glad you liked it!
Traditional medicinals thankfully doesn’t use plastic in their tea bags or glue. I love them. I wonder if the aluminum staple is safe though.
Traditional Medicinals is great!!
I love my carbon steel pans. They are like cast iron but lighter and also nontoxic.
I would love a video on why you stopped shopping at Amazon and Kroger!
Scott and I have an old video we did on Shopping Local and touched on why we don't shop from Kroger, here's that video: th-cam.com/video/bAdDyYt2sVs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fdpRxQfoHE2rIlBm
And here's a video we did on not shopping from Amazon: th-cam.com/video/hU9MPFdYnjw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8qaq17o0e3OfJvqo
I'd like to do an updated video on this topic, so thank you for asking, it shows me there is interest in the subject!
You and your husband are surely accomplishing the purpose to change culture
I don't know anything about the dangers of microwaves. Can you share any resources so I can study that?
Same. Would also like to learn more about that.
Thank you.
My grandmother would bake a ham in a brown paper bag.
Is that not a fire hazard? Serious question.
I add tallow to the cast iron pan for omelets. They slide right out.
Loved this video. A lot to think about and possibly change in my own home. Curious - do you use makeup and, if you do, what brand do you use? Blessings.
Hello Kelli I started to see your videos, good advises. I am in my path to orthodox christianity and also started churches canons studies: did you know that Saint Paul along with Apostles said to follow noachide laws which include to eating meat with its blood (just as jewish) canons in the eastern christianity never cancelled those law ( only western catholics did also for bread as ostia during liturgy)
Please take a look to noachide laws that Apostole wanted us to follow .
I didn’t think about rice packs! How did you heat yours without a microwave?
I agree with all of this and do the same as well 😊👍🏼
All of the health/shopping stuff sounds great, but it's not affordable for us on the west coast on low single income. Maybe one day!! For now we just do the best we can, eat real foods, and pray♥️
My non stick pan is passed its prime though, and you motivated me to bust out my cast iron skillet again🙌
Maybe it's just my personality, but I have never liked watching anything violent, it's always been quite repulsive to me!
I'll try to keep my comment brief.
Thanks, great points. I would encourage you to pray and do some research on which day is the true Sabbath. It was changed and documented by the Roman Catholic Church in the 300s.
It actually no longer matters
What do you use for freezing without plasic?
My first option is stasher bags, or if it makes sense I'll use mason jars or glass containers, my last resort is storage baggies, which is usually what I end up using for freezing bananas
In Hebrew the word Shabbat literally means Saturday. I would implore you to look into why people rest on Sundays now and no longer observe His Shabbat ❤
Why not just be happy we are honoring the Sabbath?
Sweetie the Sabbath is Saturday according to the bible
We would definately be friends 😅💕
How did you get away from using aluminum foil totally?
Loved your video ❤you are hilarious and encouraging
haha thank you!
Are you South-African?
I love marvel and super hero movies too hahaha.
Like you we boycott all big box
Honouring the Sabbath? Are you Torah Keepers by chance?
Loved this video until the tattoo part, Christian women here, I have tattoos tho& I think it won’t be a turn off to the right Christian man.
What you describe is how europeans live 🌱
What a blessing!!
Get to be my age with a big bust and you will wear underwire!
As a Catholic i do not shop on Sundays either. I remember when the stores were closed on Sunday, it was a day for church and family.
@@homewithkelli Thank you!! 🥰
I once took some rusted pans to a local sandblaster. They were like new when he was done & I just had to start over with seasoning them.
