I’m 76 years old. What a strange dilemma for women to be in. When I was a teenager, it was weird not wearing dresses and skirts. Wearing short , jeans , pedal pushers was the weird thing and frowned on highly. We have been duped out of our natural graceful femininity. Take it back girls, the privilege is yours to enjoy.
@@flowerpower3618 I wear dresses to church and pants and long shirts at home or shopping. I would love to wear dresses more often, but finding styles and fabrics are a challenge. I no longer enjoy shopping and my days are spent taking care of yard and home . So comfort and ease has been the main thing. I do regret that we adopted pants and pretty much quit the feminine side of clothing for the most part. When I see the difference between pictures of females in the 50’s and 60’s compared to now, it is appalling the dignity and beauty we threw out the window for convenience. God forgive us.
I'm 65, and notice dresses started going away Decent ones, since early 90s. Many millennials and gen Z, never wore pantyhose. They're quite warm in winter

Winter dress tips: -You can wear any dress in the winter with the right layers! -Wear leggings or tights and tank tops under dresses as a base layer. -Tall boots add warmth and style. -Layer with sweaters and shirts over dresses to add variety to your wardrobe, without having to buy a bunch of "winter dresses". -Accessorize with hats and scarves to change up your look and stay warm. -Bonus tip: pockets in everything!
I like having silk/wool long underwear for my base layer, they are expensive, but wear for years, as I have sensitivity to spandex. Also I own two or three dresses that are thermal or knits, that I wear in the snow underneath of my dresses and skirts. Definitely layers 😊
😊 I'm actually one of those people that doesn't like pockets on dresses. It may be just where the dress hits me but it's mostly not flattering on my shape.
I love dresses now. I also find jeans very uncomfortable and restrictive and in summer sweaty 🥵 I have been making my own drawstring elastic skirts and I feel so feminine and comfortable in them. It also makes me feel like myself. I was always “shunned” for my love of fashion and dresses and got “why are you wearing that” often growing up. Now my husband loves my dresses and style and I feel free to be me. Now that I’m pregnant I don’t WANT anything tight or uncomfortable. ❤ I love your videos and find them so encouraging
When I would get nervous about going somewhere as a teenager, my dad would remind me. Remember you aren't so important that you're the subject of every conversation. I learned to be me and not worry so much about what other girls thought. I loved my dad, so many words of wisdom.
I love dresses, but certainly love skirts too! I thrift almost all of my clothes and I love how many beautiful pieces I have already gathered without it costing a ton. Sometimes I find amazing high quality pieces for very little money. I always wear a biker short underneath my dresses and skirts too. I live in the Netherlands and bike almost everywhere and the biker short helps me stay modest.
I always wanted to wear dresses when I was a teenager, but I was always shy and felt like they’d draw attention. It’s fun to be an adult and wear them to church and around the house when I see fit! I have started to sew them, too, and it’s so fun. I can make them girlie and more modest than you’d find in stores 🙂🙂
And don’t forget that dresses/skirts are actually warmer in winter and cooler in summer! I was amazed upon moving up North from the Deep South how incredibly warm a long skirt with a pair of tights was compared to a pair of pants with tights.
It sounds crazy, but it’s true! Years ago I was searching for hiking pants that weren’t synthetic and that fit well. In my research I discovered that many women prefer hiking in skirts or dresses. They made the same claim as you. So I found some wool pants and converted them into a skirt. They were right! Now I have a thin wool skirt for summer hiking and a thicker one for winter 😊
@@rebeccasponderings8459 I would love to see those….esp how you converted them! What do you wear under them? We traipse through our woods often and I’d like a durable skirt to hike in.
I 100% experience a mindset shift when i put on a dress and i intentionally use that to my advantage LOL like if i've been outside doing yardwork, but need to bake bread and don't "feel" like it. It's odd, the psychological effect it has.
Kelli, thanks for this encouragement to wear dresses more. I'm exactly the same as you. I grew up playing sports and dressing the part. I found my identity in how I looked. God has slowly been showing me how I can dress in a way that honors Him more and that I don't need to worry about what others think of me, only what He thinks. God bless you Kelli!❤
I love wearing dresses. I've been doing it for such a long time that I kinda forgot what it feels like to wear pants daily. I have sensory/sensitivity issues and I find waistbands so uncomfortable. I hear from female family members that they own like 10 pairs of jeans, and are uncomfortable in all of them. It is kinda heartbreaking how jeans sometimes make women self-conscious about their tummies or weight. I like elastic-waist dresses that can glide over my tummy and not press into me like a jean waistband. My husband also tells me I look nice which I greatly appreciate. Thanks for this video and many blessings to you
Leather sandals match with everything! I bought a pair of used Keen sandals, and I've had them for 5 years now and they are finally starting to look worn. They were my staple summer shoe. I also wear a lot of blue, so I was excited to find a pair of blue Finn Comfort sandals. Those and an occasional strappy black sandal are all I need for the summer. I laughed about the wool skirt comment, my husband calls it my librarian outfit. I personally feel beautiful in one. 😊
I felt uncomfortable in dresses/skirts at first too! I felt like such a fraud! 😂 But now I feel weird in pants! Though I do wear them on the rare occasion. I appreciated this update from you! I love this topic because I went through a hard transition into wearing feminine clothing due to guilt. Once I realized the sin in my heart regarding to dressing for the world, I over corrected and became legalistic about it, which was also sinful. It had been almost two years since The Lord opened my eyes to modest (or my lack thereof) and He has brought me to beautiful and freeing place of loving my femine beauty because it glorifies Him. ❤
I personally have always loved dresses in the spring and summer. I don’t feel called to completely give up some of the pants I have but I have the goal of wearing dresses and skirts more!
I’m 1/2 way through this video. So far every time you talked about a new aspect of dress wearing, I’m totally on board with. I’m just at the point where you said you are moving to natural fibers . This was a fun video Kelli! I’ve been wearing dresses more often lately. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on sleep wear. I have a few “retired” sleeveless nursing dresses I’ve been sleeping in this spring since they are a bit worn and my 3 year old people a now weaned. Very comfy but I’d love some more ideas for once these wear out for things to around the house in evenings after showering. Always enjoy your perspective and learn a lot from you!
I've been wearing mainly skirts & dresses last couple months. Now if I put jeans on to do work on our house ( remodeling) I feel uncomfortable & restricted. I have gone through seasons too, several years ago I work mainly skirts & dresses & people thought I was being legalistic which wasn't my reason back then. Now it just makes me feel elegant, pretty, put together & my husband loves them on me too. The style I wear now compared to 6 years ago is different now too. I love fit flare flowy dresses & flowy skirts with tops. Just really works for me & I have to say I love going outside on the grass & twirling in them😄.

I generally wear a skirt & shirt or a dress. But I do still wear some jeans or capris now and then. My husband and I have always lived states away from our family. About eight years ago, some family came to visit(from 2000 miles away). I just happened to wear a skirt one day, and my sister said "you don't have to dress up for us." I replied that that is just what I wear and that I dress for my husband, he likes me looking like a female. :)
Yes, I relate to this story so much! Even if people don't say it, sometimes I can feel they are thinking... maybe not- maybe it's just in my head, but it is funny how wearing a skirt or dress all of a sudden your being "too dress up"
I always loved dresses and 3 years ago I decided I need to be me and I just completely stopped wearing pants, jeans and shorts, I have all mine to charity, I love anything feminine, my family and friends were a surprised and I got asked a few times why, but I just said it makes me happy and my husband loves me to be happy, I wear shorts under dresses for modest reasons when I need them, I would like a knee length skort for exercising
I used to wear the cutest dresses when young. I made them and received lots of compliments. This was the 90’s.I love dresses on young women , so feminine and pretty if the are a decent length. However at my age 65 I feel ridiculous when I wear them. I can’t find anything with sleeves that cover my upper arms and aren’t puffed. I live in jeans ( usually dirty lol because I’m in the garden so much
What about paring t-shirts with skirts? I have a lot of childhood cancer awareness shirts that i want to wear. (I lost my daughter to cancer and i want people to see that it does happen to children). Thank you.
I love pairing t shirts with maxi or midi skirts, especially solid t shirts with floral flowy maxi's. It still looks very feminine, you can display a message (on the shirt) and it's very modest. I think it's a very practical way to dress femininely and still comfortably.
I absolutely feel more feminine when I wear dresses. Great explanation; it's a tool to help you be more the way God made you. Pro tip for colder climates, I buy only summer dresses and when winter hits, I use leggings and undershirts, usually just tank tops from Pact. Cardigans or even sweaters pulled over top. I also rock the shorts under dresses in summer. Protection agaisnt chasing children or a sudden gust of wind 😅😁
I’m 67 and stopped wearing dresses about 24 years ago, when I moved to Florida, and recently decided to start wearing them again. I guess I’m finally old enough that I don’t care if I fit in or not. Dresses and skirts are much more comfortable.
The color of the dress you’re wearing in this video is a lovely color on you. I’m not a professional but I definitely think it compliments your hair and skin color. I have never heard a bobcat but I have heard fighting raccoons which also sound like screaming humans in distress, it makes my skin crawl. Thank you for catching us up!
Here's the recipe I semi followed, I used maple syrup instead of honey. And after I boiled the 2 cups of water, I took it off the heat added the sugar, maple syrup, and lavender and let that sit with lid on the pot for 1 hour, then I strained it and added the rest of the water and lemon juice. www.thecookierookie.com/lavender-lemonade/#wprm-recipe-container-31324
So good!!! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️ It is so fun to wear dresses and I was a leggings and a tshirt girl. I have one dress right now that I’ve been wearing everyday now 😅 #onabudget
Garden House. that is what we term it. I came in at 9pm from the garden/barn the other night & I wanted to CRY. My house was TRASHED. We jumped up from dinner & headed right outside - no washing dishes or putting food away, English muffins needing to be made, & somehow a chipmunk ended up being dragged in by our cat, so out came the fridge & then that needed to be cleaned under. hubby wanted to go to bed & oops....sheets that had been on the line, never got put on the bed😂. I told him, well we can each take a couch & he laughed & said no, he'd just curl up in the laundry. that got me moving! Who wants to have their husband sleep in the clean folded laundry?!? Because I usually am on top of everything, my husband cuts me slack during this time of year. And the same is true for me about him. It is called love & understanding. LOL
I always loved wearing dresses and most of the time I am in one. I started buying all black dresses, I love the color black, it's easy to choose what to wear, you look put together and it makes me happy wearing black. I'm a size us14/16 so it's not easy to find from a shop or a thrift store so I buy from SHEIN which is available in my country. I know alot of people has alot to say about it and I understand. But whatever works for someone like me..I wish people are not as dismissive of it. I agree with what you say..maybe except for just buying natural materials just for sizing reasons.
I'm a single Christian man in my 30s and found a traditional/Gospel Bible based church this year and have started wearing suits, sport coats, and dress pants again. I instantly felt more masculine! I love women who wear skirts and dresses at the knee or lower, they look feminine and modest!
Women in modest dresses and skirts are most beautiful and impress the real beauty, feminity and peace. My future wife shall almost wear only skirt or dress.
Leggings under skirts/dresses is very warm in winter. Warmer then just wearing jeans or pants. You can also wear a skirt, leggings & leg warmers. Or over the knee socks over your leggings. I just wear nice gym shoes in the Fall/Winter with skirts/dresses. I would love to find a nice comfortable pair of boots though! God bless!
@TriciaDavis-h9t I agree about the leg warmers. I do the same - take them off & on as needed. I also have carried leg warmers & an extra pair of socks with me!😁 God bless 🙂🙌
I'm giving dresses a try, but I'm a grandma and have worn pants my whole life. I didn't wear dresses for a couple of reasons. I always felt safer in pants. Skirts fly up, get caught in doors, or leave too much showing when you sit down even when the dress is longer. Dresses always felt like "too much" or "overkill" and to me, they belonged in church or at some big affair. I still feel the same way, but the positive message here suggests I might change my mind. We'll see. Thanks for the video.
Hello! I still wear my overalls outside at times. I think the mindset is more of when you have an opportunity to wear dresses, try wearing a dress then, like running errands for example.
I have always been very feminine, but even so, I fell for the idea that dresses are only for special occasions because when I would wear a dress to do something simple, another female would always call me out on it and insinuate that I was trying to show off which felt awful, so I quit trying. This year for health reasons, I found it necessary to switch to mostly dresses. I have been trying to get eczema under control and looser fitting clothing allowed my skin to breathe. After a while, I found that I preferred dresses for feminine hygiene and it makes sense because of the way our bodies are designed. Now when I wear jeans I feel restricted and uncomfortable and unhygienic.
There's so much conversation about not being legalistic when the main difference between opinions is women who just like to dress feminine vs. women who feel convicted to dress feminine. If you belong to one group, don't beat up the other for having a different stance on the dress issue.
I'm right at 60 years old. I've worn dresses, pants, and skirts. I do not think it's becoming for a woman to wear leggings, jeggings or skinny jeans. Pair it with a cap and it starts to look a bit masculine. The Father made man and woman differently...we should dress accordingly! Have a wonderful day! The Garden Tiller Boy's mom.
Yes, I have also always had problems with trying to figure out what to put over a dress or a skirt and sweater in the winter. I think the only option is a midi or maxi wool coat, but I would love to see if anybody else has any other ideas.
I have worn dresses all my life and that is what my church required for the sake of being different from the men. I love wearing dresses and never thought it was legalistic. Something i have thought of different times is why do women want to wear pants and dress like the men but most men would never think of wearing a dress.🤔 Blessings to everyone...
I agree. I never wore sandal at work since I got hired 2019. I always wear boots or close shoes. Weeks ago I wore sandal and my colleaque noticed right away and told me, that's first. ☺️
I wear fleased leggings under my skirts and dresses I have been wearing them so long that when I put on my workout clothes I can't wait to get them off lol
Jabari.. my son is in his mid 20's and chooses to wear very light weight layers. His t-shirts are in solid colors with a button down shirt over the top but keeps it unbuttoned (the button downs can be patterned or solid, short or long sleeved). He always wears black pants (jeans, tech material, or slacks). He only buys the colors that look good on him, which means he only has around 5 colors in his wardrobe... so, everything ends up matching overall. He looks very nice, and at the same time, is very comfortable. Hope this helps!

I live in jeans ( usually dirty lol because I’m in the garden so much
That is so amazing you made your own dresses!
@@judywillis7985I did this all the time in college!
The second X with XX reminds me of a dress
The male is XY
the Y is like pants
That makes so much sense to just use your summer dresses in layers in the winter, I need to try more next winter!!
We had that color book maybe from 70s or early 80s? Wow! Great Video! ❤
I need to find more dresses to add. Most of mine are meant for summer but I’m going to keep looking for ones that will work in other seasons.
I’m 67 and stopped wearing dresses about 24 years ago, when I moved to Florida, and recently decided to start wearing them again. I guess I’m finally old enough that I don’t care if I fit in or not. Dresses and skirts are much more comfortable.
Amen! I agree with them being much more comfortable!
So true, about time management by the seasons! My husband has been putting in the garden, I am tending to the new chicks, and keeping us well fed!
As I am getting older, dresses hide some unwanted extra weight! :-)
You have such a radiance about you. You just glow❤
Thank you so much Cheryl! And ah I haven't heard racoons fighting, but that sounds terrible!
I’d love the lavender lemonade recipe😍😍
Me to I was looking for it. Maybe she'll add it to a future video?
Here's the recipe I semi followed, I used maple syrup instead of honey. And after I boiled the 2 cups of water, I took it off the heat added the sugar, maple syrup, and lavender and let that sit with lid on the pot for 1 hour, then I strained it and added the rest of the water and lemon juice.

I love pact too! Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💭 this was really enjoyable to watch
I'm so glad you liked it!
LOL
Haha I love the term Garden House! That's great!! And your story made me laugh!
Love your videos!!! Your voice is so soothing too 🌷
What is the name of the company where you find your “natural” clothing?
i thought you looked like a summer, also blue really suits you, but you probably know best what fits you :)
God bless!
Lems Boulder boots are cute and so comfy :)
@TriciaDavis-h9t I agree about the leg warmers. I do the same - take them off & on as needed. I also have carried leg warmers & an extra pair of socks with me!😁 God bless 🙂🙌
I did color me beautiful in the 80s; so much fun.
Oh that's so fun!
I run a farm. I'm on my knees in dirt, mud, shit, often. I splash stuff on my clothes. Currently in overalls. Suggestions to transition to dresses?
Hello! I still wear my overalls outside at times. I think the mindset is more of when you have an opportunity to wear dresses, try wearing a dress then, like running errands for example.
Wow original video I love it ❤
I have always been very feminine, but even so, I fell for the idea that dresses are only for special occasions because when I would wear a dress to do something simple, another female would always call me out on it and insinuate that I was trying to show off which felt awful, so I quit trying.
Hi Kelli. You may like a modest dress company Kamp Kloz. They have skirts that have the matching leggings attached to them as one piece!
What is everyone’s favorite style of shoes or sandals to wear with your casual dresses? I need suggestions with this besides flip flops or heels lol.
On this same journey with you!! 💓
I love lavender lemonade!!!!
Thank you Kelli. Could you please talk about winter coats and raincoats? Its my biggest problem with dresses
Yes, I have also always had problems with trying to figure out what to put over a dress or a skirt and sweater in the winter. I think the only option is a midi or maxi wool coat, but I would love to see if anybody else has any other ideas.
Inspired by Nikki has a neat video about coats.
Organic cotton
You are being obedient sweet girl
I wear fleased leggings under my skirts and dresses I have been wearing them so long that when I put on my workout clothes I can't wait to get them off lol
How would you design a wardrobe for a man? I want to have a nice wardrobe like yours, but most guys around my age just wear graphic tees
Jabari.. my son is in his mid 20's and chooses to wear very light weight layers.
@@thurst3224 Thank you, I was thinking of doing something similar with the black pants and t-shirts, but the button downs are a nice addition
I had to wear only dresses growing up , mostly hated it. And it's just a fashion. Dresses have nothing to do with feminity
How did you know you have a conviction for only dresses?
It is a mentality shift ....
