    Thank you Taylor for this awesome video! I will be purchasing an ASD in the near future, and I'm happy I came across your fine recommendations! I'm very excited to move from my 2017 27 inch iMac which has served me faithfully, to a Mac Studio M1 Max. Keep up the great work, and Happy Holidays to you and all your viewers!

    I bought the Anker usb-c to female usb-a adapter with its new abyss aluminum body and led light. Small, nice design, inexpensive and it works well. Two also fit side by side in, for example, the MacBook Pro. They are also sold in packs of two. Thanks for your good advice, Taylor.

    Great list of accessories, thanks! I just got a studio display and ran into the short thunderbolt cable problem. I ordered one of the OWC 2 meter ones. Agreed on the Samsung T7s-they're great. And I'm definitely interested in one of those Anker hubs.

      Yw! The short cable is ridiculous. The Anker hub has been great. The cable has even been chewed a bit by my cat and still works somehow.

    I have an orange LaCie drive because it is a really bright orange, works well, is durable and lightning fast. And because of its silicone bumper, it stays well on my desk.

      Nice! That does look like a very good drive.

    I'm using a USB C to HDMI cable right now, from my Mac to my LG monitor, and it's working as it should. HOWEVER, it's hooked up opposite from what you're trying to do, as my setup is going from USB C (Mac) to HDMI (monitor). I wonder if you purchased an omni-directional cable. And, great content!

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Omni-direction is a good suggestion. I’ll have to look out for that. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed!

    Thanks Taylor, great video. I am curious if you tried connecting another external display via USC C to the display? If so, does it carry the signal over in a daisy chain?

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately the studio display doesn't support daisy chaining as the additional ports are USB-C speeds.

      @@TaylorBrauer Thanks for the reply - I have ordered one but run 3 external displays and it would have been nice. I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares to my 4k samsung montior. :-)

    Am I correct in thinking that you connect your Ethernet to the display through the adapter and that sends the Ethernet cable through to your MacBook?

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct. Since the displays ports are a usbc hub, basically, they all transfer data to and from the usbc port on the macbook itself.

    how about a usb-c mic?

    What about a good cover for protect your screen of scratches, dust, etc?

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be really useful in harsh environments. For my uses I don't have anything really abrasive affecting the screen, unless you count lots of cat air. A cover is a great idea if you need it.

    If you want an HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter then look at those that have female USB-C connector.
    Those meant for converting HDMI signal from your video output to DP Thunderbolt on your display, while cables with male connectors meant for quite the opposite.
    You probably also want a good Thunderbolt docking station. It will look much nicer than this hub and probably pack more features as well.

    I’m curious is your MBP, that is closed and under the display, touching the stand? Or is it slightly above it because that MBP is slightly alleviated due to its “feet”

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, it's touching it so it's elevated a bit. On it's own it sits nearly flush with the surface.

    • @jangelsb
      @jangelsb ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TaylorBrauer What is your preferred location for the MBP? Do you like it on the stand or next to it?
      Also thanks for the great video and all the help!

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jangelsb 99% of the time it's on a 360 stand to the left of the ASD so that I can use it as a little monitor. The other 1% of the time I'm using it directly in front of the ASD with the ASD off. I love the MBPs screen.

    You can place your laptop on the right side, then your 1m. Thunderbolt 3 cable is long enough.

  • @scholardeville

    You literally cant go hdmi to usb-c since it relies on dp standard, thats a oneway conversion due to physical pin count lacking, and needs active to work, like titan ridge. The cable you bought is for hdmi screens not usb-c screens

  • @MrLeonardoVZLA

    I'm surprised the USB C to DisplayPort cable worked for you because looking at the specs in the website, the cable is uni-directional. It can only connect a computer/phone/tablet with USB C to a monitor with DisplayPort. To connect an USBC monitor to a Display port computer, the cable needs to support bidirectional.

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was pretty surprised too, Leonardo. I was following an article I found about it, which I have linked in my review video, and that led me to that cable. It worked perfect for video input and that's what I was looking for.

    • @bradmacpro5453
      @bradmacpro5453 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TaylorBrauer Also the video would be only 4K and not 5K. If the PC had Thunderbolt output which some do, it could have been sharper. Sharing the monitor with a Mac requires switching cables, which could lead to failure of the Thunderbolt input port. There are no Thunderbolt switches.

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brad, if you’re up for a surprise, check out my latest video where I use the monitor for gaming. It absolutely does pump a 5k video stream to the monitor from the graphics card.
      As far as having a negative impact on the port, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see 🙂
