Was looking hard at the purchase of the Apple Mac Studio to replace my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014). After thinking about it for a few days, and speaking with my best friend this normal decided to purchase a MacBook Air M1 chip with 8‑core CPU, 7‑core GPU, and 16‑core Neural Engine, 16GB unified memory, 2TB SSD storage.
Over a week with my MacBook Air M1 chip with 8‑core CPU, 7‑core GPU, and 16‑core Neural Engine, 16GB unified memory, 2TB SSD storage, CalDigit TS4 Thunderbolt 4 Dock, and a LG Ultra HD 5K Ultra Slim 27MD5KA-B Monitor on a desk VESA arm. For items that I have on another part of my desk purchased Anker 7-Port USB 3.0 Data Hub with 36W Power Adapter and BC 1.2 Charging Port.
Only thing I have noticed via iStat Menus monitor program is that even with 16GB unified memory with the programs I normally leave open memory is still being swapped out to the SSD storage. This is the reason I purchased 2TB storage is that even with the read/write of swap memory the MacBook Air should last me a very long time.
Like the way to many times I have moved to a new host system over the many decades spend most of the time with transfer of data. Setup of programs you use. Then trying to get it to look how you want.
Now from the GC looks of things the LG 27MD5KA-B flat matte black on a black NB North Bayou VESA Monitor Arm Desk Mount is a look I love. After my eye operations I was having an issue getting the correct distance from my previous iMac 5K screen. Now able to sit down reach out and adjust the height, and distance to arms length. Almost like having my vision from my younger years.
I would have purchased the Apple Studio Monitor if I had been able to have it shipped for pickup at the Apple Store the same as the MacBook Air. Have returned to live in the Apple garden with a personal home host system since the Intel iMac first came out. We will see how long this LG monitor does the job for me. Thing is I use things until they are obsolete, or die.
Down the road more than likely purchase whatever Apple Monitor they have at that time unless they stop making them yet once again. Some people do not like the Apple garden. Thing is I want KISS, and something that works every time I go to use it.
Love it when young people talk about the cost. Apple Mac Studio, Studio Monitor in configuration I was looking to purchase would've cost me $4,198.00 which is less than my original Macintosh purchased in 1984 at $2,500 when adjusted for inflation would be $6,764.87 on the introduction date of the Apple Studio lineup.
Thing is as a normal just do not need all that Mac Studio power, and I live in the consumer desktop part of the grid.

BTW, I have a couple of devices with cables that can be replaced. I bought versions of the cables with USB-C on one end instead of the original USB-A. Better than the mini-dongle since I'm going to use them forever with USB-C.

I tried using a non-TouchID keyboard with my Mac Studio and it drove me crazy typing in password frequently. I returned to the Apple keyboard with TouchID. It's a shame Apple is apparently not allowing 3rd party TouchID keyboards!

Since I moved up from a Mac mini to the base Mac Studio I already had everything I needed, including an NAS, albeit a much smaller one (I have a 2-bay USB 3.0 enclosure into which I installed a couple of SSDs in 3.5" to 2.5" adapters). That leather desk mat is tempting though...

May I please pick your brains on editing and rendering a 4k project with h.265 and ProRes footage at 10bit 422 in Davinci Resolve with a M1 Mac Mini and the Mac Studio?
May I ask if a M1 Mac Mini could render a 4k project with a colour grade of Noise Reduction (3 frames), basic colour correction, Sharpening and a few Transitions of clips on the Timeline?
I have a homebuilt PC with a Ryzen 3900x, 64Gb RAM, RTX 3070 GPU and lots of m.2 NVME storage and it still can't do a 4k project with this simple colour grade.
I'd need to buy an RTX 3090 graphic card just to get enough vRAM and they cost almost as much as a basic Mac Studio, which is just crazy.

4/3/22, Yeah....ok...My 5 y/o DELL xps-27" , I found out, won't load the new w/11 os. I'm thinking about the Mac Studio: what's in the box? Do the cube & monitor; mouse & keyboard all come separate/a-la-carte? If so, that's great. I use a Logitech backlit keyboard & Logitech MX vertical mouse that I hope to carry over onto my next rig. W/this [Dell] machine, you get *what's in the box* & any customizations, you purchase over/above OEM. I hate that. Thx again!

I am TRYING to keep myself busy and wait to unbox them both on Christmas day, and I came across your video. Great timing! By the way, does Logitech make a left handed version of that mouse? I would guess that they don't. But maybe if enough south paws ask about it, they may consider it! I hope so! Anyway, wishing you and all your viewers a happy and safe holiday season! 😀🙏🏾

@@aarondavis8953 actually you can just snatch it out like Linus. We don’t know if that connection point houses something sensitive to repeated plugging and unplugging. I don’t think the cost of Apple replacing the cord and even the labor motivated Apple. I think there’s something there, even more expensive that Apple does not want to replace under warranty if damaged.
