Hi bro nice video! ✌ anyways, i'm having 535i in a week. and just wondering how fast does the fuel goes with yours? since mine is a bit smaller engine but its not gonna make a lot of difference. appreciate your answer.
Diesel knock is Vanos 100%. I've dealt with it the entire time I've had my car no major hinderance at all besides the sound and some low end power loss.

Timing chain tensioner

You could get a BMW 540i 6 speed. E46 manual. E36 manual.
Probably the Vanos is causing that rattling sound.
I don’t think it’s the timing chain guides, but it could be the timing chain tensioner.
There’s a new one out, which is a bit longer than the older version.
I would also suggest to switch to a 80C Thermostat, instead of that OEM 105C.

This guy is putting a 80C Thermostat in that engine.
Rattle noise should also be reduced, because the oil is not getting too thin.
Will do! I wanted to try a different oil too. To see if it would help.
191k that is bad ass i have one with 143k and im terrified of the timing chain tick i have the same noise but a little less
Im going to try to put thicker oil, see if it helps. Some people said it helped them with the rattle.
I had the same noise when I was using 0w40 oil, switched to 5w30 and it went away
I put 10w40 and its better now

Yea at 160k it was changed
The knock it’s the vanos knock shouldn’t be anything to critical

Have you done your timing chain guides? Hoping my goes strong to 200k. People tell me it is vanos rattle..
The timing chain guides were done when i bought the car at 165k miles. Yea im going more towards vanos rattle too.
@@A1Brian I got 125k on mine but as far as I know they haven't been done. Not ready to DIY that myself and not worth paying what shops charge.

@@A1Brian I haven't bothered to get an estimate yet but fellow M62 owners have told me it is in the thousand(s).
Yea sounds about right. There are a few who will do it for $1,000 or $1,500

@@A1Brian nice, yours is clean as hell.. I just picked up a 01 that needs a new battery. But I’m not sure if that specific year would have to be reprogrammed
Thanks bro🙋🏻♂️I dont think you have to program it. I say that because my sister has the 01 525it wagon. We changed the battery and it didnt need to be programmed.
