Wow....just wow! I love how the silver back sits and lets the little curious ones explore this "human" while not being too far away to intervene if the "human" tried to do anything. It's like when parents take their kids to the zoo and let them explore while being close by to protect them, lol. I just love John's reaction to the whole thing, pure joy :)

This is beautiful. I cannot believe how beautiful this is. I love how the Silver-Back doesn't seem worried out anything. He sort of says "OK, The kids are interested in this creature. We will take a five minute break." and then when he's let them inspect, they leaves with absolutely no issue. These beautiful creatures are our cousins. We are connected and I believe that they know this.
He is a VERY lucky man!

That made me cry so amazing. The Silverback let his whole family come. With the group I think with the grooming he was accepted. The Silverback was just sitting there making sure everything was cool it's good you didn't look eye-to-eye with him. I am just so amazed and so happy that I found this channel.

simply amazing.. I don't know why but when the babies and the female began grooming you, it brought a tear to my eye. how lucky you are to have been chosen by the group for closer inspection, it must have been exhilarating. I would have been just a bit worried having that massive silverback within reach of you, while one of his females showed interest in you.

It was a breathtaking moment when he was kissed on the cheek!! We humans are not like them at all - they are far better behaved than a lot of people. The 'kids' just wanted to check out this hairless ape by smelling, touching - ever so gently!, touching his shirt, hair, but they all followed Papa when he decided "let's get home, kids, before Mama starts fussing."

He knew exactly what to do. I cannot even imagine the thrill although Simians are not my favorite wild animals, but yet to interact with another species in this way - boggles the mind. Did you see the look of absolute joy in his face at the end. Absolute joy.

At 2:56 that guy must have been terrified - the baby was poking at him while the huge silverback was staring at him looking for any signs of movement or danger. After assessing there was none, the gorilla prods the youngster off the photographer to move him along. THAT is the adventure of a LIFETIME right there! No way I can see anyone topping that. Absolutely amazing!!!
This MUST have happened before in some way, or all those other guys we see in the background filming wouldn't be out like that, would they? The babies being present tend to raise the aggressive nature in most creatures. Are gorillas really that different?

I work at a Zoo (Henry Doorly Zoo to be exact) and I like watching the gorillas when my shift is up. -We have a family of them; a grandma, grandpa (adopted into group), mom, and 2 young ones. The Grandpa, Mosuba, or as I like calling him Grandpa Mo or Big Mo is a giant and has this natural intimidating look on his face, but in reality he's a big softie and is very gentle towards his group (especially his grand-kids) and is very patient with pretty much everyone. I've seen Big Mo play with his grandson and it looks just like how we humans would play with our own kids/grand-kids. He also keeps a VERY close eye on his grand-kids when they are up against the window where all the people are and keeps an EVEN CLOSER eye on the humans on the other side of the window when they get close to them

Wow I saw that on facebook and came on here to see it too... what a brave man and a moment he will remember all his life. That was fantastic I was all smiles when the smaller animal was kissing him....how totally brilliant...I keep playing this and smiling each time. Good on you!!

Verry nice but i dont thibk its good to come so close to these animals though. They get used to humans soon or later. This is a huge problem because hunters wil take advantage of this.

      @VieraXXII 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah, Sadly, I want it where they are used to us, and we respect them, and they us. However hunters and poachers will lure them with this and shatter everything.

Steve Fettke 750 dollars for an hour?! Could it be 750 dollars for 7.5 hours?? That seems more worth it to me, even though i know employing the park rangers is very important

Steve Fettke NegraMonroe It's $600 per person for one hour, in small groups of 10 people. In April, May and November which is the low season it's $350 per person. I live in Uganda and I have a safari tour company here, so I know what I'm talking about. The money is paid to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). - www.ugandawildlife.org/about-uganda-master/uganda-wildlife-authority

I'm a Christian, and gorillas are my favorite animals. Only a very tiny minority of Christians believe in the "God gave us everything in the world to do whatever the hell we want with it, don't worry about the environment" mindset. Rather, most of us, myself included, believe God entrusted us to care for the world and its creatures as stewards, not enslave and destroy it as masters (And particularly cruel/ incompetent masters at that).

It's tragic irony of our programming that the first emotion on contact is 'fear'
It's tragic irony of our 'civilized, educated' upbringing that we call THEM 'wild'
It's shame that (some) comments try to put a priceless-price on such experience
That 'experience is its own reward' comes naturally to 'all OTHER beings wild'...

Careful about romanticizing them. Of course they deserve respect, admiration and protection, but they are killers as well.

    • @bigrobtheactor

"Fear"? A mainstay of our evolution. Those things can and might tear you limb from limb without notice or pause which is why we put them in cages (tragic, I agree) and not the other way around, so to speak. They don't need technology. Our "programming" comes from hundreds of thousands of years of learned adaptation as homo sapiens. That's why, unlike dogs and cats, we don't live with or even near them, let alone make family out of them.
