I went to Bwindi a few years ago! The dancing ladies from Ride 4 A Woman are wonderful, and the gorillas are even better. I was watching a mama gorilla with her five year old daughter, and suddenly the ranger told me to keep still. I hadn't noticed a whole extra group of gorillas off to my right, coming toward me because I was in between them and the tree where they were clearly trying to go. I stayed still as instructed... and the gorillas, one by one, carefully put their hands on my knee, hopped over my lap, and went on their way. I got a couple of photos while they were actually right there on my legs, or I'm not sure I would actually believe it even happened. There was even a mother with a baby on her back, and the baby came within a foot of my face as she hopped over me. I will never forget the smell of warm, damp, woolly fur in my face, or the feel of those gentle, precise black leather hands.

15:09 At this point these guys were speaking my exact language..... thank you Kara and Nate for visiting my region and country..... much love from Uganda 🇺🇬
Ok this vlog made me cry, very emotional seeing so much natural beauty with these animals in the wild. On one hand its great you went there to show us them, to support the local economy and how respectful the guides were, on the other I wish these wonderful animals could be left alone and not get used to seeing humans around. So beautiful and majestic. Thanks for showing us.
The duality of tourism is that tourists destroy what they like. The first person that travels there likes the natural beauty, goes home and tells his friends about it. More and more people go there and the natural beauty disappears. In Uganda they protect the natural beauty of there country as much as possible.
without tourism, these animals wouldn't be protected from poaching, as well it is really expensive to get permits to do gorilla trekking, to limit the amount of people that do it , low volume low impact.(~700 a day in Uganda, ~500 in Congo ~1500 in Rwanda).
Love the video, it's incredibly educational! Nate, please get checked for Lyme disease after coming into contact with the tick. I had Lyme disease, but thankfully, I got antibiotics in time before it caused too much damage. It can truly ruin your life if it's not caught in time. All the best!
@lilili101 My first sign was the typical bull's-eye rash (thankfully, I got it, as not everyone does and the tick had fallen off before I had noticed it). Then, I felt like I had the flu. During my treatment for it, I had some pretty bad brain fog, but that could have been caused by the medication for it, as I don't suffer too badly from it now, nearly six years on.
@daniellesammy0827 I'm so sorry to hear that. Lyme disease is such a poorly understood disease that it can easily be missed. I'm not sure where you are from, but in the UK, it's pretty rare for a tick bite to turn into Lyme disease here. I was refused medication by two hospitals and a doctor's surgery because they didn't believe that I had it. Finally, after the third try at a hospital, I was given the medication I needed. They couldn't believe I had been turned away so many times. I'm so passionate about trying to let as many people know about what to look out for and to fight for the medication if you feel there's a chance you've got it. Unfortunately, for people like yourself who hadn't managed to get the medication in time, know all too well what it can do. I wish you the best of luck in the future.
Words can't describe how great this video is. Seeing these primates in their natural habitates is most beautiful. For me the closest I will get is at a zoo or a wildlife park. Thank you Nate and Kara for sharing this experience here on TH-cam.
Dear Kara, I am watching the video from today. The emotion on your voice when you saw your first gorilas made me well up and cry. What a beautiful episode.
Honestly came back to watch this video a second time because after watching it yesterday i was just so amazed and impressed with everything about this video, your interactions with the animals made me feel so different about them (i used to hate every kind of monkey 😭)
I watched this twice last evening. First by myself and then later when my son came home. I told him about it and he wanted to watch. I have said for years, this is my dream expedition. I felt every bit of Kara's emotions.
You guys never disappoint. I love the diversity of your content. Physical challenge one week, travelers dream(Iceland) next week, chilling with monkeys next week. Best youtubers!
Absolutely amazing! This has been a dream of mine since I read about Dian Fossey work when I was young. She truly had a passion for these beautiful beings! Thank you for not just sharing but making this trip for all of us to!
This is the most I’ve cried on a TH-cam video. I’ve loved mountain gorillas since I was a kid. I recall hearing that horrible number of 300 left when I was younger and it broke my heart. To hear and see how well things are going is so uplifting. I’m happy and jealous of your adventures 🥹🧡🖤🧡
I don’t think I’ve been so transfixed in a video for such a long time. Totally mesmerised by the chimps and gorilla’s and how they’re not overly phased by humans ❤❤
We don't know how I can thank you enough for sharing this amazing experience. I was crying as soon as the mountain gorillas appeared. You two do the best travel videos on TH-cam and are as good as anything we watch on television. If TH-cam gives awards your channel should be getting them. ❤
I might be over emotional because I'm sick with a very bad cold/flu but I was in tears and glued to my monitor throughout this entire episode. I will never have the opportunity to do this, nor be physically able to (my life is caring for my autistic son) so watching this experience and having my sound turned up to hear all the things was just a wonderful experience...like I was there. THANK YOU for doing these crazy things you do...I literally live vicariously through you and honestly get so much out of it...almost like taking the adventure via transporting my mind with the help of your cinematic captures and your infectious enthusiasm...so I can stay content and happy in my caregiving life. If I could show my son any little part of the world you experience it would be a dream....but since that isn't possible, this is truly the next best thing. I love you guys for being so....well, for just being YOU and sharing it with us.
I’m so glad the people living this experience seem to really truly deserve it. This is my dream. Amazing energy from this couple and their guide. Be kind to nature and she shall reveal her beauty ❤
I've been watching your videos for years and have seen you do some amazing things. But never have I been so captivated as I was watching the gorillas. They are truly astoundingly beautiful animals. This video honestly made me so emotional. Thank you!

I don't now the exact numbers, but I believe every national park has a limit with people
Love the video, it's incredibly educational! Nate, please get checked for Lyme disease after coming into contact with the tick. I had Lyme disease, but thankfully, I got antibiotics in time before it caused too much damage. It can truly ruin your life if it's not caught in time. All the best!
What's the symptoms you had?
@lilili101 My first sign was the typical bull's-eye rash (thankfully, I got it, as not everyone does and the tick had fallen off before I had noticed it). Then, I felt like I had the flu. During my treatment for it, I had some pretty bad brain fog, but that could have been caused by the medication for it, as I don't suffer too badly from it now, nearly six years on.
Lucky you because I didn’t . I am 50 years old now and basically homebound!! It’s very serious disease.
Nate and Kara are so adventurous. I love their life together, going and doing things all over the world. God bless you both!! 💖💙
Me too! ❤
A 1-hour Kara & Nate Video Yipeeeeeee!!!!! I am wheezing at that MASSIVE spider catch! 🤣🤣🤣 Nate you are so braveee
They are such amazing animals. I hope we can keep protecting these and all other mammals and let them have a safe place on earth.
Without doubt one of my favorites. I was crying seeing the gorillas. Thank you❤
You guys never disappoint.
Kara’s energy is top notch this episode
We don't know how I can thank you enough for sharing this amazing experience. I was crying as soon as the mountain gorillas appeared. You two do the best travel videos on TH-cam and are as good as anything we watch on television. If TH-cam gives awards your channel should be getting them. ❤
41:22 “Lets change that”. Lol
This video is something else and they just keep getting better better I don’t even know how
Kara, I feel exactly what you're feeling wow.I haven't cried in a long time of happiness
The way i was holding my breath when that last silverback was approaching!!
My heart was beating right along with you during the spider clip. 💗💗💗🥴
Thank you!
You guys are so brave! That could never be me. I wish all Gorillas in the world all the love and peace, I'm gonna stay here in my house. Thank you very much.
Kara, “Let’s change that.”
I screamed but totally agreed.
Best thing to watch during my kids nap time. Saturday I have Kara and Nate and Sunday I have Craig and Amy!!!
This is by far my favorite video that you have ever done. Thank you for bringing us the real, raw experience of seeing these amazing animals in the wild. I know I will never have the chance to do this but seeing it through your eyes was truly a unforgettable experience. You made it seem like I was there with you. Been watching you for such a long time (since the beginning) and this was truly all-inspiring!
Watched 2 times and love this. I have watched all of your videos and LOVE them all. This one is my favorite of all time. Love you both❤
Lol the way he carried you guys over the water
That was my favorite part too. Kara said, looks like our relationship got to a new level 😂
Being Aussie the spider 🕷️ catching was hilarious 😂
Literally 😂 first thing I though was leave it, it will eat the bugs.
@@chaiseikinI might leave it at home, but he has a point about never knowing whether it hid away in your suitcase 🤣
That was a huntsman most likely, right?
10:36 I can see Kara wanting to mimic the Chimpanzee calls so bad, but having to suppress it;)
I’m absolutely crying along with Kara! This is truly an experience I would love to have!! So beautiful how you made it super special with your film skills and your interactions with the guides and guards. I just love you two so much!! I look forward to every video!!
As someone who’s lived in the same city for 20 years and never travels I can’t even fathom the amount of things you guys have seen. It almost seems overwhelming 😂
😂😂😂 Kara misunderstanding the lady making an introduction to the guerilla is absolutely hilarious 😂 ❤
Absolutely LOVE all the cinematic shots in the intro!!
10:14 me and Moses relationship just went to a whole new level 😂😂😂😂😂
Oh Kara😂❤
This has to be hands down one of my favorite videos you guys have done. I would watch every single episode of a Kara and Nate nature documentary. Your gratefulness for being able to experience these incredible creatures and your appreciation of the world you are exploring exudes through the screen and it is amazing. Nate's way of describing things makes me feel like I was there with you and Kara's genuine reactions to every experience and the appreciation she shows towards your guides and guards shows her incredible heart. Thank you for taking all of us on this adventure with you.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. I've been in a dark place and probably won't be traveling much the next few years. I am so grateful that you are sharing these moments to remind me there's so much more to life and to focus on the simple things ❤️❤️❤️
The baby gorillas look so adorable! 🐵🦍
I love them 😭😭😭
This is now officially my favorite episode. ❤️ Thank you Kara and Nate, I was crying the whole time during your personal encounter with the gorillas. A huge thanks to the rangers and communities who continue to protect these amazing creatures. ❤
So excited I am off today and can sit down and watch this video!!! I love when it is the longer videos about animals and scenery!!!
Oh my gosh thank you for taking us on an incredible journey. When you got close enough to see the gorillas I just started to cry happy tears, you captured the moment so beautifully. Just an Incredible vlog.
To go to Africa was my number one dream. I took my son there when he was 15. And it was beyond beyond! But even more than Africa, generally, is to do this gorilla trek! This is my favorite video you guys have ever produced. Thank you so much for this! I am going to do this!❤❤❤❤❤
Everyone wake up Kara and Nate Saturday toons are on!!!!
Thank you for not just sharing your "adventure," but for digging into and sharing the educational experience behind it as well!
My favorite part of the whole video is the part we’re the baby gorilla was hanging on the branch and spinning with the music 😂 that was so Adorable.
Incredible journey. My BP went up. With Kara’s. Omg, thanks for sharing this, I love gorillas, they are so beautiful and strong. Love the silliness of their antics. Love you both. ❤😊
Seriously. One of the most inspiring, beautiful, emotional, and entertaining videos ever. Thank you Kara and Nate!! ❤
This video should win an Oscar or an Emmy. The videography is incredible! Best 10 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!
