I love how the silverback just decides to sit and watch! Silverback: Ok kids I'll let you see the human for three minutes! I'll be right back here if he gives you any trouble.
That part, were the silver back moved the child away from the guy, as if he wanted the child to stop bothering him, its so awesome how they have certain similarities as us.
OMG!!!!! While I watched this, my heart was pounding, I was holding my breath, had tears in my eyes and almost felt like I was right there experiencing it with you. What an amazing encounter!
That was absolutely amazing to see the young & then the female grooming the gentleman. What a once in a life time experience. Thank you for sharing it with the world!
@@vaughnreedjr6592 there are multiple animals that are known to kill for fun, preform gang violence and rape. yes humans do bad things to but were animals as well.
This was amazing! I am so jealous! An experience of a lifetime and if we humans could learn to be this civilized oh what a beautiful place planet earth could be.
Thats freaking amazing. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up. If I were you I wouldn't know if I would freak out or be happy for the experience.
OMG, this is so wildly exciting! I wish I was there. I just love that huge male, so calm, overseeing the whole thing, he knows it's his big family and he is one huge alpha male, the Boss! LOL... this is tremendous. Thank you for sharing!
Amazing and incredibly risky situation. I can´t imagine the feelings at the moment when the silver back sat behind you with the little babies around you. congratulations!!!!!!
The joyous wonder of John's smile is priceless! I felt like I was sitting in his place as I watched. Powerfully moving and fascinating. And as a human who shares her life with a budgie (parakeet), I can attest to the extreme pleasure of being preened by a creature - there's nothing like it! Great appreciation for this vid and for the friend who forwarded the link.
Beautiful video, but this doesn't look very "wild" or "impenetrable forest" to me, unless the gorillas are the ones who built these pathways and lamps. You can even see a couple passing by, and another man filming just behind the troop. This troop is used to humans. The danger was low.
+Kefira14 Damn, didn't know a gentle giant would fucking decimate the offspring of another ( unrelated )male as soon as he takes over. That's like being beaten by a step father. When it comes down to it, we aren't too different.. We fight for control. It's just that we seek to control different variables and subjects instead.
AWACS There can be other unrelated male gorillas in groups, they aren't always violent towards each other. What did I say in my other comment? They don't get aggressive unless they feel threatened or provoked. I have never heard of a gorilla doing that, lions on the other hand are notorious for killing offspring of another male. You sure your talking about gorillas? If you are do you mind providing me with a link to where it says this?
+Kefira14 Oh piss off hippie, Gorillas tend to get into fights all the time beating each other to death. Wonder why they act so peaceful in this video? Because they're a family. How often do you see mothers and fathers beating their children to death? That said they're very alike us in their behaviour and interesting to study but don't act like they're nicer. Humans are still the most altruistic animal to be discovered.
Amazing. Watching this interaction with such majestic creatures makes me feel like a guest on this planet. How can I hate the world yet love the world so much at the same time?
Thank you so much for sharing! I saw gorillas in Bwindi 5 years ago and it was an amazing experience. It's hard to explain the rush of emotions I felt when I first saw them. I had a big grin on my face and tears in my eyes the whole time. They were beautiful and I felt an immediate and touching kinship with them.
I've been to see the Gorillas in Rwanda and even though you stay a good distance away from them per the rules that the guides give you, the gorillas often don't follow those rules! I had a 400lb silver back walk right past me, 3 feet away. Scary and exhilarating. This guy did the right thing. He sat still and remained extremely submissive. What an amazing video.
I just came back from Rwanda and had the opportunity to go gorilla tracking while I was there. An amazing experience to be sure, but nothing like what you all saw. Thank you for sharing!!
I remember like it was yesterday the first time I came within 10 feet of a giant humpbacked whale. It is something I will never forget. The experience you had with these silverbacks is 100 times more exciting... how wonderful for you. You must be a special person... those animals can tell...
This was one of the most amazing things i have ever seen, it made me cry and smile at the same time, How beautiful were they, Loved the guys reaction, if only the world could be in awe like him : ) x
THAT WAS INCREDIBLE! What a once-in-a-lifetime experience! I was excited just to watch, but can only imagine his excitement by having the gorillas THAT CLOSE! The silverback can rip a man apart, but to watch how gentle he is makes me cry happy tears. Did you notice him "discipling" some of the young? It was quite amazing. THANKS for sharing! That totally made my week!
I was completely taken by this video and this action. I never felt for a moment that he was in danger at all. Even if he had made gestures or eye contact, in my feelings, I believe he was always safe. Thank you so very much for sharing this beautiful bit of life.
Without a shadow of a doubt, one of most beautiful and moving pieces of amateur video I have ever seen. A more graphic illustration of what can happen in human/animal interaction when all conduct themselves appropriately.
I think it helped that you didn't know what was going on behind you - you absolutely behaved in the correct way - what an incredible and lucky experience - amazing!
So many amazing moments in this. Love the way the male nudges his baby to move away. Love the female who smells his face. Love the way so many of them pick at his hair and groom him. What an amazing experience. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely incredible, and this encounter happened on the last day of their stay! What a marvelous experience! So glad it could be filmed and shared. Wow. Would that the whole world could be thus.
Those Gorilla's deserve our help and respect. We need to preserve their land, their home. They need protection, man needs to wake up and not take it for granted this planet and what it has to offer. We exploit and take advantage with little regard, things need to change. Beautiful and touching video, in more ways than one! I hope this can make a change within people.
The silverback kept his eye on the man, but because the man showed submission that's why he allowed the nest to investigate. That's my take at least. Brilliant. What an amazing experience! The man's smile at the end was one of my favorite parts!!! What an experience he'll NEVER forget! What a blessing!
OMG my heart would be racing too....What a life changing experience! We can't lose this strand of the web of nature. I will prosess this video with awe! Thanks for sharing!
How divine!! To capture that encounter on film is priceless and shows how ignorant so many humans can be when it comes to interacting with primates. Thanks for the great clip.
I am incredibly jealous!! They chose the interaction... on their terms!!! Knowing animal behavior-- I am speechless.my life would be complete by an encounter such as yours...thank you for sharing
That is probably one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. What an experience that must have been. I am definitely adding this to my favourites!
This video brought tears (joyful ones) to my eyes. Jonathan, you are blessed to have had that experience. I cannot imagine how you must have felt during and after that outrageous encounter!
This is simply amazing! I am in awe. I have watched this video about 20 times and I get goosebumps at every viewing! What a magical and truly unique experience for Mr. King! I just cannot imagine what that must have felt like. The animal kingdom is a remarkable, precious, beautiful thing. We ALL need to respect and protect it! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible experience!! Gonna go watch it again........
fantastic! I loved how the young one was grooming him a little. The female adult decided to sit behind him, very trusting. I was nervous he was going to get hurt though.
For anyone that thinks animals are dumb creatures, worth nothing, this video proves them wrong! What an amazing encounter with creatures that are so endangered by our own greed and need. It shows that they care about their offspring and are keeping them safe, out of danger. It also proves that they are highly intelligent curious creatures that do more than just hunt, sleep and reproduce. Amazing footage and so envious of the encounter as this is something you will remember for a lifetime!
my wife and i just watched your encounter and we both smiled through the whole thing it was amazing...you are so lucky also to have it on video it was no doubt a very rate event. i only hope our 6 month old daughter will be able to experience something like that one day. a special youtube post this one thank you!
What an incredible encounter!! No words can express what this video makes me feel...the closest I can get is 'wonder', 'enchanted', 'awestruck'!! This must have been one of those moments in your life that was a high point!! Thank you for sharing it with us!!
@meriprem thanks for your frank comments. Wanted you to know that we posted another version of the encounter on our channel without music and the introduction.
I loved this. The one moment when the silver back gently directed one of the babies to move behind John and in line with the rest of the babies is amazing. How can humans kill them. I wish I had been there. So wonderful they could share it.
I love how Dad supervised the kids and the kids keep looking at Dad to make sure it's okay. Mom has the same silver on her back but it's never as pronounced a mark as the Dad's.
A beautiful display of respect from both species
I love how the silverback just decides to sit and watch!
Silverback: Ok kids I'll let you see the human for three minutes! I'll be right back here if he gives you any trouble.

This moment when Man is reminded he is part of Nature brings tears to my eyes.
Incredible! What an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I loved how he was beaming from ear to ear after the Silverbacks started to walk away.
What an incredible once in a life time experience! You were so lucky to have a friend record it !
That was absolutely amazing to see the young & then the female grooming the gentleman. What a once in a life time experience. Thank you for sharing it with the world!
Just plain amazing this is such a peaceful symbol of what life on earth is all about they are just like us minus the evil greed and selfishness
@Tyrone JR ya it's just liberal thinking to point out 1 time a monkey doesnt rip off the face of a tourist and say "all animals are like this" lol
@Tyrone JR animals do care . Human killed way more than animals.

Loved when the silver-back moved the baby along, that was so cute. Thanks for posting this.

How remarkable! I love how the Silverback was just watching you so calmly the entire time. Truly a wonderful experience!
Watching this, my anxiety shot through the roof. When the silver back paused at the 2:21 mark made me twitch a little. Awesome video.
Harmony affects everything it touches~* I would say you were in perfect harmony. Love this!

Wow I really envy the guy! So glad he had this moment to remember.
Silverback didn't like the females being close to him...check out the last glance he gave before walking away...scary!
