OMG! What a labor of love! Three generations of women sewing memories together. BUT, what a gift you have given this family! That was a lot of work. God Bless you for taking on that daunting task. I never would have thought to satin stitch the edges to under laid fabric. The quilts are beautiful! I agree the blue quilt is a show stopper. 💙💙💙
I have no words to describe how beautiful they turned out, especially the small hexes. So glad you decided to add the boarder instead of squaring off the one, it deserved to shine in all its glory. Thank you for showing us how to fix and add rows. I have never worked on such small ones but have done table runners with the larger quilt as you go hexi. Thanks for taking the time to walk us step by step through your process. Have a wonderful week!
This was the first time I have seen your show, and I am sure glad I stopped to watch it. Those 2 quilts are beautiful and with so much meaning and hard work. I just love them. It truly touches my heart!! ❤❤
What a beautiful job youve done to help this family preserve these memories! The timing of this vid is perfect for me as my thrifty friend recently gifted me one of these partiallyfinished flimsy. Its a 1 inch hexi, and it needs preserving and finishing. Now I have a better idea how to proceed. Thank You! These turned out So lovely!
Oh wow!!! What a great friend you have!!! I would love to see your quilt when you finish it so if you post on social media please tag us so I can see it!!! Good luck and reach out to me anytime via AmericanaLongarmQuilting@gmail.com
Thankyou very clear instructions and camera work so we could see exactly how to hand sew the hexagons without papers. It no longer seems daunting. I greatly appreciate your generosity and kindness.😊
You are amazing!! Those quilts are amazing! I’m so amazed by the beauty of these quilts, the time and patience put into making, and repairing the hexagons, and find myself imagining the three generations of women sitting together, sewing, talking, laughing, and maybe even some crying. ❤❤❤
Hi Sandy, the imagining is probably my favorite part of working with these heirloom pieces!!! Just fascinating!!! Thank you for your very generous comment!!!!
These quilts are spectacular! What I don't understand is how you do this tiny handwork with those nails of yours😂. I could do the work just no extra nails...but they are beautiful 😍. Wonderful job by the way. I have 2 quilt tops of my grandmother's I need to restore and finish. Someday🤞💕
Oh wow, thank you so much!!! Keep watching and I am sure you will find lots to laugh at!!!! Can't guarantee the fashionista vibes will be on point all the time!!!!
Hi Lizzi, we made it out of pvc pipe and fittings and a piece of drapery lining. it holds my bolts of batting and keeps everything off the floor while quilting!!! I am planning on adding rollers to the bottom to be able to move it around a little easier!
No, I left as much as I could of the edge pieces as I could, which was a little more than half. We had lots of extras so we didn't need to cut the whole ones on the sides in half. Hope that makes sense!!!
@@AmericanaQuilting Thanks. I’m making one right now and wasn’t sure about how to finish the edges. Maybe I’ll just fill it in with half hexagons. I’m doing it by hand and enjoying the process. It’s so relaxing and portable. ❤️ your channel!
I would love to see what you have done!!! Please tag us if you post to social media!!! I'm so happy you got inspiration from the video!!! Thank you for your comment!!!!
Not gonna lie, it was a bit of a struggle!!! Hand piecing the extra blocks on the quilt with the larger Hexi's wasn't too bad but that tiny needle I was trying to use to do the repairs on the quilt with the smaller hexi's was really difficult!!! Oh well, can't win them all!!!

Fabulous quilts!! You put a lot into it also. This is something that the family will treasure for a lifetime. ❤❤❤

Pattie, not gonna lie, that tiny work wasn't so easy with the nails!!!! Usually they are really helpful in the workroom, they work like stilettos!!!!
@@AmericanaQuilting 😂made me laugh! Your work is just so lovely. I like your skirt too!

Vintage & Classic! Beautiful!
Aren't they just the best!!!!
❤❤❤
Thank you!!!
Where did you get the quilt hammock. Or did u make it and if so what materials did u use. Many thanks Lizzi

Can you cut half of the hexagon border off of two sides and sew them back on the other two sides?
No, I left as much as I could of the edge pieces as I could, which was a little more than half. We had lots of extras so we didn't need to cut the whole ones on the sides in half. Hope that makes sense!!!

I don’t know how you do that with those nails. I hand quilt and I know I couldn’t do you

What kind of thread did you use to do the hand sewing? (KH)
I just used a cotton thread to sew with. Have a great day!!!
Good edge. The music is creepy.
Hi Kate, thanks so much for your comment, it really helps us perfect our videos!!! Happy Fall!!
