The mandarin note is glorious the few moments it lasts. And I suppose the sweet leather (Safraleine?) after that makes the tobacco. Also, I don't think I ever smelled a more prominent labdanum note. I hope I'm alone in thinking it smells like Plasticine! Edit: there's no link. I used to dislike Byredo, because Ben Gorham is a marketer, not a perfumer and don't even seem that interested in perfume. In Sweden we have this TV show where a group of people of presumably public intetest have finner together and talk. Gorham was in one and the other guests were asking him questions about perfume in a sort or reverential tone. And he wasn't really capable of answering. None of this obviously isn't his fault, but it's ironic whem you know more about perfumery than the founder of a perfume brand.
Oh dear -- thanks for that BG comment! I confess I don't know much about it him. Perhaps he's good at 'art directing' his scents...? As far as labdanum and plasticine are concerned, believe it or not, the former quite often makes me think of certain brands of cough syrup for children. There's a plasticky sweetness which isn't miles away from labdanum. So I think you may have something there. Thank you so much for watching.
I agree re: Gypsy Water and many other Byredo scents. Gypsy Water is lovely and has that spark of exotic places I love, but it's just too dry and sharp in a slightly generic way for me personally. It is a solid scent, though, favored by many. Interestingly, Black Saffron had many bad reviews on Fragrantica, but two tester bottles of that one were empty at the store!!! I tried the tiny bit I could get out of it, and it reminded me of something from my childhood in a delightful, comforting kind of way. Similarly, tobacco (and even gasoline) would be a fun smell, but not something I would wear (although it would be great on someone else I'm thinking of who lives here). I don't like predictable, powdery florals, but I won't go that far. I love a good, fresh green scent. As you were trying to open the box while commenting on everyone's notes, I subscribed. Thank you for taking the time to actually get back to us with your invaluable opinions on these matters. Perfume is powerful, and the fragrance choices we make definitely have an impact on our lives! Have you ever smelled Pulp and Mixed Emotions by Byredo? I smelled Pulp on a blotter, took the blotter home with me, and could not stop sniffing it (which I could still do several days later)! Someone commented that Mixed Emotions is 80% similar, so I thought, "Yay! A (slightly) less polarizing version of the ever-intriguing Pulp (which, reaching here, seems like a less-melancholy version of the beloved, realistic, fresh, grounding L'Ombre Dans Leau by Diptyque)!" What are your thoughts on Pulp and Mixed Emotions by Byredo? Thanks again!
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. I’m sure I have tried those two Byredo in the past, but I don’t remember much about them. I’d have to check my notes.
@@Persolaise You're welcome! I read some intense reviews re: those Byredo scents, but I think I did try to smell Mixed Emotions in the store and did not feel especially inspired to sample it. Will have to re-visit that one. Thanks!
I have a few Byredo Fragrances and they’re good but I think they’re overpriced by about 30% I have no problem spending money on fragrances. And another thing I guess it’s worth mentioning. I went to their store in Soho and they were pretentious, which is lame because most of the places I go are relatively high-end when people act like that I’m like OK children you’re in over your head you’re overwhelmed and you’re in the wrong environment
Thanks for this. Truly good service is difficult to pull off - so often, it tips over into pretentiousness. There’s never any excuse to be unwelcoming.
The extract collection which is 50 ml bottles are nothing groundbreaking but high price compared to Amouage 100 ml n other good brands in the market......
I am deeply in love with this perfume. The sent reminds me of an old church.
Good to know. Thanks for watching.
I love everything about this perfume except the price. 🧡
Well, we could all do with them being a bit cheaper.
Thanks for watching.
The moment Renaud came in and said "Tribute?" LOL
I know! 😂

Is this extrait can pull of at summer nights going out?
I’d say that’s down to each individual wearer. For me, it wasn’t especially loud.
@@Persolaise thank you very much 🙏😇

Great review as always. I’ve tried it recently and got a Guerlain Bois Misterieux vibe!
Yes, yes, totally! I think it must be a similar woody-oudy material.
Thanks for writing.
I was hoping for bitter oranges like Christmas scent with a deep tobacco . For some reason that was I was thinking.
Yes, good point. It’s not like that, though.
Thank you very much for watching.
Great fun and very entertaining as always . Maybe need to try and sniff this house out x
I reckon you might find one or two in there that you like.
As always, thanks for watching.

I haven't been able to smell or sample this but I'd love to know how it compares to PDM Herod?
I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with that scent.
Many thanks for watching.

It is pretty expensive.
Hi,is it for men or for woman🤔
The brand sells it as unisex. And my personal view is that all perfumes are unisex.
Many thanks for watching.

I’m sure you will one day. Thanks for watching.
I Love Byredo 💘 thank you
