    Renaud is such an inspiration. Open minded, humble, curious and super creative. I could listen to you talk together for hours. Such a good call to plan another interview!

    Always a pleasure to hear you interviewing Mr. Salmon, thank you! Have you ever done also a in depth review of Royal Tobacco? Couldn’t find it in your channel, but maybe it’s hidden within some longer videos.

    “Change needs to be taken carefully. Change is good when you understand the past. change is required (…), respectful of the past” - probably the best quote of the interview.

    Fascinating interview. Royal Tobacco sounds amazing. I wonder if Renaud is familiar with the 2003 (Pulitzer Prize winning) play, “Anna In The Tropics,” by Cuban playwright Nilo Cruz. It’s about a dashing lector who reads “Anna Karenina” to cigar factory workers, only to see the lives and relationships of the workers begin to parallel those in the novel. Passionate stuff!

    • @Persolaise

    Woow what a fantastic interview, we had the chance to see the evolution of Renaud in Amouage and what a fantastic opportunity to learn from that experience, this is priceless! I'm dying to try Royal Tobacco, as one of my favorite notes I've been looking for the perfect cigar fragrance, right now Royal Crown's Habanos is the closest and my favorite, they capture that cigar stink that you get when you open a cuban cigar tube or box and some of the smell that you get when you light one, I'm not a regular smoker but every year I enjoy smoking one or two good habanos, my favorite are Romeo & Julieta Churchil's, I totally get the changes in taste and smell from the start to finish that he talks about, it's an experience every fragrance aficionado should try. Partagas are also delicious cigars, when I saw the box... it brings memories. Amouage has been growing on me as my favorite brand, I've been using Overture in the heat of the Chihuahuan desert and it's amazing!!! It develops very different in the heat than in the cold weather, it's like having two fragrances in one. Still a lot to try from the house but I'm hooked and as a designer I really like the refresh and new more subtle and elegant direction of the brand's image. As always a pleasure Dariush and many thanks to Renaud for sharing his experiences with us!!!

    Thanks to the both of you for sharing such a nice chat about Amouage and the perfume world with us. Always such a pleasure! I really like Renaud’s approach. He seems like a very polite, very interested and very reflective person. He is of course also Belgian, just like me, so that helps ;-) I wonder if he would willing to bring some samples for me to Brussels :) Thank you again gentlemen and already looking forward to part II.

    Thank you for such a thoughtful interview. I am new to Amouage- Epic woman is my first. I was drawn to the scent without knowing anything about the brand. Your conversation with Renaud is so much more than a perfumer hyping a new fragrance release- it’s a conversation about history, culture, a deep respect for the past, and an elegant way of moving the brand forward. I can’t wait to listen to part 2 of this conversation, and I look forward to learning more about Amouage and adding more to my collection.

    I am enjoying my firs Amouage Lyric woman and is exquisite a long journey of smells in my skin there is a point that smell like under my skin from Franchesca Bianchi and then changed again, my favorite is the opening so the best for me is put it in the clothes. There is no doubt that they use the best ingredients. I am impressed with Lyric woman 💜

    It was lovely to hear Mr. Salmon discuss the beginnings of Amouage. He himself embodies an artistic refinement that matches the brand's roots.
    Unfortunately as we march towards ever more automation, focus on profits as the single goal, and narcissism we find our world increasingly inhospitable to real luxury. The ability of art and beauty to elevate us; to feed our souls, is a key part of our humanity. Things that are rare, high quality, and unique are not mass-marketable nor Instagramable.
    I never got to try the original Amouages when they were made with the highest ingredients. I imagine the brand will have to adjust further still. I still love the complexity and drama of Lyric, Gold, and Jubilation.

      Well spoken. As somebody who has vintage bottles of Amouage (Dia, Memoir, Beloved, etc), they're literally the embodiment of perfection and the reason I own the entire Man's and Library line with no regrets. I can definitely tell the difference with some of the newer releases, but in their defense you're not always gonna hit home runs and that's my personal opinion on the fragrance. Amouage is still tied as my favorite house (Guerlain 1a and Amouage 1b) and I'll continue to support them until they start having issues like Creed 😅

    Excellent interview. I'm so interested in the sourcing of the ingredients. Are Amouage perfumes all natural and how do they make the fragrances so strong? Very much appreciation for the in-depth content. Looking forward for part 2. Greetings from Holland! 🌷

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Rob. Hardly any modern perfumes are ‘all natural’. Synthetics are a vital part of the creation and production process.

    • @storkonstage
      @storkonstage 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Persolaise I guess you're right. I have some all natural perfumes and the structure is different. Nothing against good synthetics. There's a lot going on concerning the use of ingredients in perfumes and I wish the manufacturers could be more informative and transparent about the used ingredients. But you are on the right track with these wonderful and informative in-depth interviews. Thank you and greetings. Rob

    • @salmonrenaud
      @salmonrenaud 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Indeed, we use both naturals and synthetics. My rule is generally the following: I don't like the idea to use a synthetic because I can't afford the natural equivalent but if the synthetic adds something unique to the composition that you can't find in a natural (scent or technical qualities), why not. Also, I usually like the fragrances to smell mostly natural which means that the synthetics should not overtake the rest of the composition.
