We are considering a Edge ST for our next vehicle purchase but we live in the snow belt and are concerned how the ST does in winter driving conditions? I'm not sure what type of tires are standard on this model.
The intelligent AWD system in the Edge is excellent and it handles really well in winter. It'll come with all season tires standard but I always recommend getting aftermarket winter tires and steel wheels
We just bought the ST 400 without the sunroof. Son of a bitch this thing runs , handles, and stops! The best family vehicle ever and being an old hot rodder I am impressed with the quality and performance.

Thank you! Working on locking things down with a Toyota dealer now. I have a few local Chevy and GMC stores I can reach out to! Any specific model you’re after?
Good afternoon I'd like to know how you feel about the Edge ST, I am considering buying a Ford Edge ST, I'm interested in the so-called sorte Cummings I'm not looking a speed demon I just like to cruise but just love the way the ST looks with the 21" wheels and I drive a Taurus Limited and just want something comfortable with lots of room so what do you think
Hey Darren, assuming you have the regular 3.5L v6 and not the SHO then the Edge ST would give you a nice boost in performance. The regular 2.0L in the other Edge models would be a little less powerful than the standard Taurus V6 but not overly noticeable. You’d get way more space in the Edge and the 401a ST is loaded. It’s a matter of preference. Do you want more power or better fuel economy? If the ST is in the budget and meets your needs 🤷♂️
@@CarsWithSteve Thank you so much for your advice and opinions I enjoy your videos I get really good information from them and not what you don't like about the vehicles
Thanks, Steve for your super detailed overview of this car. You have great energy and knowledge. Two random questions - 1. when all seats are down, is the cargo space flat? in the video, it looked like the area under the row 2 seats was at an angle. 2. Is there a glove box or not? Thanks in advance for your response!
Appreciate that Lora! Hah not random questions at all. When the 2nd row is folded there is a bit of an angle up but it is technically flat. There is a glove box in the Edge too You made me realize I never really point that out in my videos, so I'm going to add a brief mention in the future. Thanks!
@@CarsWithSteve thx! You did sort of mention the glove box in your video but you were talking about the pummeled silver looking attributes of the surfaces, what you said was “and this looks really nice Bubba blah where the glove box would normally be“ so that led me to believe that there was no longer a glove box there lol
Hi. I purchased a 2022 Edge ST last week. Since driving it new off the lot several issues with the centre stack Sync 4a screen going completely black when driving, losing the music then screen takes about a minute to reboot like when you initially start Your car. It has the ST logo screen. Have brought it to the dealership twice. They did a software update the first time. The second time They stated they do t know how to fix it. Any reports of this happening to other Edges? Thanks 😊
Hey Sherry, unfortunate that your Edge screen is giving you troubles. Few things that you can try yourself: 1. Hold the seek right and volume down buttons on the steering wheel controls to reboot the SYNC 4 system. 2. Perform a master reset If none of that works, get your dealer to replace the screen under a warranty claim. They can't simply claim to not know how to fix it and send you on your way... this is their job. If they give you the runaround, look at booking in with another Ford dealership and explain the situation.
Production is still happening in China for the Edge. The 2.7L engine is also used in the Bronco and F150 while the 2.0L is found in the Escape, Maverick and Bronco Sport so I can't see Ford or the suppliers running into part shortages anytime soon I've always been a fan of the Edge ST. It has a great amount of power and is pretty much unchanged in the 2023 model year! I'm curious what Ford is going to announce will be manufactured in Oakville once production starts winding down on the Edge and Nautilus
Hey Steve, thank you for the great review, I love it! I had a ford fusion 2016 S and now I’m thinking about getting this one (already reserved a forged green ST). As this is my first SUV, do you have any thoughts regarding my transition, like what weird things I might notice? What about the cons and pros. does the transmission happen automatically in sport mode? I already read some online articles but I like the review you did so your opinion would help me a lot in my decision. Thanks!
Thanks so much! Exciting making that change - you'll notice improved performance immediately coming from that Fusion S. Honestly, it'll take you a few days to get used to the size but you'll probably notice the blind spot is a bit different at first and you can't take corners quite as hard because of the higher center of gravity When you're in sport mode, the Edge will automatically let the RPMs go higher. And it also has intelligent AWD with selectable modes. You'll love it, especially with the new Forged Green!
Great video! I recently picked up a 2022 Ford Edge ST and was excited about the wireless charging and Apple CarPlay. However, it's unusable with my iPhone 12 mini. The wireless charging pad doesn't charge my phone but heats up the phone so much it goes into thermal shut down. The wireless CarPlay drops connection also. It's only useful for very short driving trips. The phone also got too hot while plugged in with the USB sometimes. I really like the car, but it seems like Ford should have tested this. Have you heard of other reports of this happening?
Thank you! First I’m hearing about a phone getting hot from wireless charging but if there are multiple apps running while charging that could lead to overheating. There are some people in an F150 forum that seem to have the same issue as well. It might be worth bringing it up to the dealer next time it’s in for service in case there’s a wiring issue
I own the 2022 Edge ST and I have the same issue with the wireless charger and my galaxy s21 ultra. The phone gets extremely hot and doesn't seem to get any charge. I actually lost battery while using it. I however do not have any issues with android auto or wired charging.
Hey Steve, I just bought a 2022 Ford Edge ST. I would like to tune it. I saw the VR Tune, but will that work for the 2022? Can you explain why or why not? Also, do you have anymore tuning suggestions?
Hey! The VR Tune I mentioned in another comment technically should work on the 2022 Edge ST. It's rated at a 2014+ for the model year on VR Tuned's website. A quick call or email would let you verify that though! If you want to make sure the powertrain warranty isn't affected that's probably your best bet Ford Performance dealers or local performance shops will be able to give you a bit more of a rundown though and might have a different brand they'd recommend
There is one thing however no one mentioned in the review. Ford Edge ST doesn't have Gen 2 engine known from F150. The 2.7 liter bi-turbo in Edge is generation one engine and even Ford has developed way better version (lot of changes, i.e. dual injection to prevent carbon build up on inlet valves) it was never decided to put it in Edge... Gen 2 is already 6 years in the marked (initiated in 2018) and proved to be very solid engine. This is shame that Ford is still putting gen 1 in 2024 Edge ST.
@@CarsWithSteve Don't get offended. It might be better to talk about driving dynamics during the test drive. Talk about infotainment when reviewing the interior. Keep the review focused during each segment.
Haven't heard of any issues with the screen dying or causing issues in colder weather.
