  • Love 'em or hate 'em, the Ford Edge and Chevrolet Blazer are two of the most popular cars in the United States (or maybe we just think that because we live in Michigan). If you have to buy one, is one better than the other? Kind of.

    As an Edge ST owner, it's funny that this is a comparison with non compatible models. The Edge ST is far sportier than the ST Line cosmetic package and the ST Line only uses the base engine. Still a good video though.

    I enjoyed the video a lot. I have to disagree with your choice however. We have owned a 2022 Ford Edge Titanium for eight months now. In my much younger days, I was a GM guy, like my Dad. Now that I am 67, suffice it to say I have owned/driven a bunch of non-GM vehicles too. Availability as well as reasonable pricing, led us from a Kia Telluride made in Georgia, to a Ford Edge made in Canada. You are comparing a $50K CHEVY -- no way, that size, that price, AND it is a Chevy. On the Edge, the back load floor is awesome. The mini-spare is a $100 option. Ford has used the Edge as a testbed for technology enhancements. The Edge was the first vehicle to get Sync4, and it was the testbed for the 12" display that was then fitted to the Mach-E and Lightning. Sadly, 2023 will be the last year for the Edge and Lincoln Corsair. I'll take my nicer Edge over the "sporty" Blazer, and put the money in my pocket. Disagree, but truly did enjoy the comparison. Take care.

      This is our 2nd Edge. We have a 2013 Titanium with 41,000 miles that is just like new. My Wife’s Father passed away and left it to us. Services are all up to date, I had die put in to check for any water pump issues. I am not sure if I can leave the die in it, or if it needs to be flushed. I do wish there were a way to put a remote water pump on the 3.5. It is a fine engine but for the internal water pump. If it leaks it takes the whole engine out. Does anyone know what can be done? We want to give it to our son.

    I worked for GM 41 Years. Unfortunately my 2017 Acadia All Terrain was totaled. I never thought I would own a Ford Edge ST, but i now do. After my car was totaled, i needed a replacement quickly. Inventory on Dealer Lots is very limited.. The Blazers available in and around the area, were not available in 6cyl with Blind spot indicators. Must be a supply chain issue? After test driving both, the ride was far superior in the Ford edge. Another plus is not having to pay for Onstar. There is no subscription charge for Ford Pass vehicle connection.

    Price-wise the RS matches closer to the Edge ST. I just specd an Rs to the same trim as my Edge ST and it was 53k, the Edge ST is 55k. And it blows the doors off the Blazer RS in actual performance. To be clear, I wouldn't pay 55k for the Edge ST and certainly not 53k for the blazer. I'd pay 40k for the loaded blazer and 44k for the Edge ST loaded. The Edge ST comes with a driving experience for free as well which is a really great time, you and a guest get to beat the crap our of Ford owned Edge STs for a day and they put you up in a 5 star hotel and feed you 3 meals. It took me a while to understand the point of the Edge ST having come from a far faster Challenger Scat Pack and before that a Charger Scat Pack (I got a dog so I needed 4 doors again). The Edge is about how well it handles the turns, my Edge has super sticky summer PZeros and a stiff suspension, it 100% handles better than my Charger or Challenger did. When you start looking at the ridiculously priced SUV market you realize that anything that competes with the edge for speed is more expensive (and faster). The SUVs with the size and trim of the Edge ST around it's price point are like the Blazer, a second slower 0-60 with either tiny turbo 4 cylinders or lifeless NA rental car engines. You can get an Edge ST without the 401A package and 21 inch wheels for mid 40s, it's not going to handle as well as mine but it'll be as fast and the interior will still be pretty nice - it wouldn't have the panoramic roof or cooled seats but it'd still have the awesome sound system and great bolster seats with high quality materials.
    I don't hate GM and I don't love Ford but I did a ton if research into these before I bought my Edge (that I somehow got doe 40k brand new). I think both brands are way overpriced but if I'm going to pay a premium for a sporty SUV I'm going to get one that's actually sporty and not one that just looks sporty.

    The real Edge ST, or the older Edge Sport would have blown that blazer off the road... Why would you compare the sport version of the blazer against the non sport edge?... And this is coming from a Chevy guy. There is a reason I chose the Edge Sport. That 320 hp and all wheel drive is no joke.

    I had a Edge and was in a accident and was hit by a AAA roadside Assistant Vehilcle and it totaled my Edge with 8000 miles, previous vehicle was another Edge. I can a new vehicle every 3 or 4 years via work. I chose to get a Blazer after the accident, my father was a 36 year GM Employee, I support buying American first then try Chezy as a first choice. I can say after having my first Edge for 3.5 years and getting a new one and having it for only 8000 miles and about 3 months the Blazer was a much better vehicle and it was not close. I had the V6 in both my Edge and also in my Blazer, I prefer the larger engine and all wheel drive, then a must is leather and navigation so in both I ended up with models at the higher end of the cost spectrum. The Blazer had a better transmission, better power, better ride that the Edge, they both have similiar storage space. The Blazer is still fun to drive and I am not sure I will ever even look at another Edge over the Blazer if I am buying in the midsize vehicle range.

    The higher backseat in the Blazer would make it tough looking through the rearview mirror if you’re the driver, more of a Blindspot! On the Edge, the temperature can be changed without the touchscreen via voice command! Push the button and hear the chime “Set temperature 67°”

  • @Cobra3901
    @Cobra3901 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah they weren’t really comparing apples to apples. I mostly love my wife’s 22 ST, the interface for all the controls on the touchscreen can be annoying especially when you first drive it. Once you get used to that it becomes better but I would rather have knobs and buttons. I haven’t had a chance to drive a Blazer but I’m sure until they come up with an SS version,the Edge ST is way more fun to drive and would be a lot quicker 0-130 (the limiter kicks in). I have a Fusion Sport AWD with the 2.7 ecoboost and I think you are confused…the Escape is Focus based…the Edge is Fusion based… the Ecosport is Fiesta based. The ST Line is like a “sporty” looking base model with the base 2.0 ecoboost. I know,we don’t get any of those car models,but in Europe where gas is running $10 a gallon, people still buy cars a those models are still available.

      @VanquishedAgain ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The ST Line isn't 50k. The Edge ST is under 50k. The fully spec'd Edge ST is 55k. People buy them because they're actually really sporty for the price and the fully loaded one has everything. I got mine for 40k brand new (somehow) and it has everything, front camera, led headlights that turn with the road, panoramic roof, auto dimming drivers side mirror, amazing sound system, power tailgate, etc etc and it even comes with a drice experience for the price. The Edge ST will do 5.7s 0-60 all day every day, you literally can't break the tires lose.
      I have two complaints with my Edge, the dash is literally the same thing they've used for a decade and it's awful, and there is very little in the way of sporty exhaust sound for a sporty suv.
      Anyone who pays over 40k for the ST Line is an idiot though, you're gonna be disappointed that your fast looking SUV isn't fast.

    You guys are a couple of goofballs. I like the 2 car comparison in principle but you need to learn the difference between torque and HP among many other things. Comments like "there is no way you could get in this car and be confused" talking about the Blazer provides no real info. And "this Ford seems thin inside" And just because the Blazer has no turbo does not mean it's simple. Saying nothing is better than saying stupid things. Nothing is simple in modern vechicles

    You guys should have compared the EDGE ST against the BLAZER RS. THAT is more of an equal comparison. My EDGE ST is FINALLY being built on April 24th, after ordering it on October 25th. Will be my second one, so looking forward to the improvements from my 2015 EDGE SPORT from back in the day!!!!The 335 h.p. in the EDGE ST buries the Blazer RS in every performance category. We have two. A 2013 Titanium with the 3.5 V6 and the 2022 ST with the 2.7 V6. I can tell you that the 2.7 ST is way beyond the ST-Line. It’s a beast. I think it would have been a good review to compare equally equipped models. The 2013 was a decent V6. I still don’t like the internal water pump.

    Fun video. Not sure where you get that its old ladies driving the Edge considering the vast majority of Edge owners are males and the median age is 63. Traded my base 2014 Edge for a 2020 Edge ST and the difference is night and day in every regard. That twin turbo engine putting out 335 hp/380 tq is quite good. Impressive handling for what it is too. 33:14 is hilarious and kinda accurate. I like how mine looks but yea, its not a vehicle that screams hey look at me, but thats a good thing when you live in an area with lost of car thefts.

With 8spd tranny there is no ringing in out. 280lb ft torque is meaty boys. 23mph city AWD / 27mpg hwy. *Both Edge GTDI are well proven! They both sound real good under acceleration as well* .

    2022 RS black on Jet black. I just bought brand new, Don't forget that Top you have is adding $$$, and taking away the sunroof. 2022 has 20" wheels... More aggressive lines... Chevy lost it on the '23. Unless you need that large screen (which gets in the way of that nice flat dash) i have to recommend the 2022 RS. Mines fully loaded, and it's definitely a little more than your "Commoner SUV" as suggested in a prior video... *Especially having looked at hundreds of ugly crossovers lol... be well guys.. 43k btw. Fully loaded, if you can find one.. Now's the time for the '22 RS. smoother ride. I'd like the think the '22 is the 2019 design. Perfected.

    Being ignorant of the full line of Edges, I was confused until I read variuos posts that clarified that there is a Edge ST -Line and a Edge ST !! I like the Sportier Look of The Blazer RS vs the Edge ST. I don't think I would like the Edge's Dial for the Tranny, The Blazer's is far better in the classic shifter. The large EV like Screen with everything only available by toushscreen (and no Buttons) in The Edge is a turnoff to me. But I do like the 2.7L twin Turbo Eco Ford Engine in the ST model! Conversely, the Twisting of Air vents in the Blazer - to change the Temps is "weird". I thought that they simply controlled the air direction not the temps!

      I had a 2022 Ford Edge as a rental for a week... poor build quality; gaps everywhere, car exterior so plain and boxy, could pass for a current SUV in 1985, instrument cluster from 2005, iPad glued to dash, gear shifter you can't even see in bright light, drives like a tank in molasses, poor gas mileage... a very boring and uninspiring vehicle... I can't comment about the Blazer because I've never been in one... I don't make judgement calls on cars i've not driven, but I have driven an Edge and was mightily unimpressed. I would never buy one (especially since they charge way too much for what they offer, so many foreign SUVs offer way more for less). The only positive... as a family hauler, it is FUNCTIONAL, that's about the only positive out of it.
