    'Heavy Chains' was an old favourite song of mine by Loudness - and it stands the test of time, it is still a great song.

      One of my all time favorites and the first loudness song I learned how to play on guitar. God what an amazing album. Just as new to me today, when I play the disc and Akira still impresses the hell out of me. Ashes in the sky on the follow up album is brilliant as well.

      @@lasvegasvegas4236 That song is a masterpiece. I wish I could still play the guitar I had someone put a gun in my face during a robery attempt the gun blew a massive hole through the palm and I can no longer play guitar. 35yrs of playing and writing music has come to a screeching halt .
      I'm losing my mind .

    Loudness is more like a mix of Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, and Quiet Riot. Whoever told you that they were the Japanese version of Van Halen is sadly mistaken.

      I think they sound like 80's Judas Priest with Klaus Meine (from Scorpions) on vocals, but all dressed like Blackie Lawless (from WASP).

    They were a legit metal band in the '80s. They opened for some of the biggest bands back then. I think they are awesome.

    I Loved these guys! I saw them open for motley crue and ac/dc. Couldnt understand a word they said but it was still a killer show.

    Aww man I remember getting into this band in 85. I picked up their cassette for 5 bucks at a flea market. They really were big in Japan but they even made a splash for a little here in the states. The whole album is really awesome. Akira Takasaki really was an influence in alot of the metal bands that followed. Their whole catalog is amazing. Thank you so much for bringing back those amazing memories.

    I seen Loudness when they opened up for Motley Crue back in '85' on their Theater of Pain tour!!.... And the lead singer at the time was the only one who could speak English.

    Thunder in the east is a masterpiece of an album. Akira is a brilliant guitarist and was a huge inspiration and influence in the way I learned how to play guitar. God I wish I could still play like that. The 80's was truly the decade of guitar gods . I was truly lucky to be a teenager during that time. It was a way of life and still is to an extent,.🤘

    I have made it my new purpose in life to play that riff to perfection, its easy to find the powerchords but to play with that fluidity takes hundreds of hours of practice, Akira is a genius

    I love this band. I bought three of Loudness' English language albums back in the day. Pro tip... when you've listened to this song a couple of thousand times like I have, you will (mostly) know what they're saying. They're actually still going strong in Japan. What a legendary band! Vastly underrated.

    Yes! Finally Loudness gets some love! One of my favorites by them is Rock 'n Roll Gypsy.
    ANTHEM (band) is another Japanese group that hasn't received much attention. Venom Strike and Show Must Go On are probably two favorites of mine.

    Just surfing through some of your old vids...Very few have heard of loudness. They're really more like Iron Maiden meets Judas Priest at a Japanese restaurant love child. Another killer Japanese band is The boom boom Satellites. Try out "Easy Action" "Shut up and Explode" "Kick it Out". They have quite a few good tunes. They're little more recent than Loudness.

    How funny. I just watched this video on MTV Classic Metal Mayhem tonight and was thinking I had not heard this song for a long time and now you are reacting to it on the same night. TOO FUNNY. I remember back in the 80's there were 2 big Japanese metal bands. Loudness was one and the other was EZO. Their big hit was "Flashback Heart Attack". I think Gene Simmons produced EZO.

    One of the best riffs ever. When they were scheduled for the stadium to make this video the lead singer didn't have lyrics for this song so he just sang gibberish he said and they said mza meant nothing.

    Anthem is another great metal band from way back. Make no mistake though, despite the look, Loudness did a lot of really heavy stuff. Scary heavy.

    Saw Loudness with AC/DC in Toronto in 1986. My ex wanted to move to Ontario but we were only there for a couple months before moving back to Vancouver, that concert was about the only good thing about that failed excursion.

    It's because of Loudness that all these other Japanese bands were able to break in the U.S. always thought they were underrated, Akira is a badass on guitar. You should check out their newer stuff a lot harder and faster. Check out Kings Evil Japanese Thrash Metal, they sound a lot like early Slayer but the lead guitars are amazing, one of the best Thrash bands around. The drummer is the singer.

    They sounded more Dokken to me than Van Halen. Akira Takasaki is an phenomenal guitarist. Love this tune, the solo is one of my favorites. I saw them open for Motley Crue on the tour for this album. I ran into them in their hotel and they spoke very little English. I asked the bass player what MZA meant, and he grabbed his ass and laughed. I still don't know. LOL

    Their English wasn't the greatest but Akira Takasaki kicks a** in any language. Unbelievable guitarist. SDI is another good song of theirs.

    Holy smoke, I have this album. It used to be on rock video channel. At midnight was PowerHour, a whole hour of metal videos. Loudness, dio, celtic frost, etc. MZA(the band said it has no meaning at all)

    Be sure to add eX-Girl to your exploration of Japanese bands.
    Start with "E-Sa-Ya" or "Pretty You Ugly" from the Endangered Species album and explore from there.

    They're speaking in ENGLISH! Not Japanese, "YOU COME TO SEE THE SHOW... CRAZY NIGHTS" It must be the accent. Sometimes I don't understand what my mom is saying to me. 🤔. Did you notice the banned LAND OF THE RISING SUN SHIRT? It was band by the US in WWII. I love that flag. The rays are gone now. It's just a round red circle. And I'm understanding them, not you? They are still touring in 2022. English not their second language. Original drummer passed away, unfortunately, from cancer. All others original members. Toured the US.

    I'd like to suggest another Japanese band - The Let's Go's. They most certainly aren't as old as Loudness, being a current band, but this amazing trio of ladies from Tokyo play fun and energetic music with a kind of old school punky sound, with hints of The Ramones, The Undertones, The Buzzcocks maybe, packing more into two minutes than most bands manage in four or five.     I remember a preconcert clip and the rock media is asking all the kids in line Motley Crue was headlining in America and the kids said they were there for Loudness. They said Motley Crue might be louder , but Loudness is better!So all these white kids said one more thing...after Loudness performs they will leave and forget Motley Crue!

    great content T, I saw them in 1985 open for Motley Crue and literally blew crue off the stage, I think they were ahead of their time and America wasn't quite ready for them, so yeah their earlier stuff before this album was killer in Japanese, I think Babymetal learned a lesson from them...don't try English only for a whole album, if they would've came to America as they were before, all Japanese with a few English words thrown in for effect it might have happened for them, but the American record label ruined them here. that's why today's Japanese bands mostly stay with their own language with occasional English words for effect with very few exceptions.
