    12:48 Diego was educated in Barcelona, Spain in fencing, literature, military strategies, history, philosophy, science, and acrobatics. Basically all the skills required of a true Caballero. When his father called him back to help and opposing the new military regime, Diego decided to hide all of these skills and use them only as Zorro.

      @@Sessis Back during that time period muskets took very long to reload and had a tendency to either misfire alot, didn't fire at all or they would end up backfiring and injuring/killing the one using it. Hence the bayonet on the rifle allowing soldiers to engage in melee combat.

      Except within a 20 foot span... a pointy stick is more deadly. Especially with the guns they used in that time. 🙄

    So glad that you enjoyed the score that was created for this film. The composer is James Horner and he is, or sadly rather was one of the greatest film composers ever. He won two Oscars for his score to the film Titanic and was nominated for many more. He tragically died in his own small plane some years back. I hope you get chance to hear more of his music as you continue your film watching journey. His scores for Braveheart, Willow, and Apollo 13 are simply outstanding.

      @@Sessis James Horner is also known for the soundtracks for Star Trek II (considered by many to be the all time best Star Trek film) and Star Trek III (pay particular attention to the "Stealing the Enterprise" scene - the music in that sequence SELLS that scene as much as the special effects and actors!).
      There's also the absolutely fun and joyous music he did for the movie The Rocketeer. The opening music to that film effortlessly captures the romanticism and wonder of flight.
      In fact, I would argue that The Rocketeer and Apollo 13 could be musical bookends. One from the early age of flight - and the other from the greatest age of space exploration we have yet been able to achieve. Add in Star Trek for what we HOPE is our future and you've got an incredibly optimistic and inspiring series of soundtrack suites!!!

    Thank you for this reaction! Antonio Banderas was amazing! I was in a musical production when I was playing Pancho Villa and I watched these films to study their dialect. Catherine Zeta-Jones was both lovely and fierce! I used to wish they would have made a video game where you play as various characters in a sword duel. I really would love to see your reaction to the sequel The Legend of Zorro! If you’d like more adventurous films I highly recommend Disney’s The Lone Ranger, Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Cutthroat Island, The Goonies, Finding O’hana, and Bandidas.

    Also, the movie takes place on Young California. Rafael the fictional governor, promises their citizens the independence from New Spain (now México, how was called by Zorro at the beginning ❤️) he plans to create the former Republic of California, an actual attempt of independence after Mexican independence that ended up in the union with the USA and one of the last steps for México to lose 51% of his territory 💔 (first was loosing Texas)

  • @randallshuck2976
    @randallshuck2976 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    You seem to view the term Capitalism as a curse word. The reality is that the peasants who were fighting the aristocrats were the capitalists who wanted private property, personally earned wealth rather than forced labor and freedom to trade with merchants beyond the Spanish ones. Their independence was why they were successful in a very harsh environment (frontier California) full of armed enemies. Other than that a very good reaction to a very fun movie. The sequel is even more instructive.

    Batman yes, has so much to be with Zorro, in the first cómics of batman he was really based on the zorro character. That's such a thing that, I think in a Tim Burton Batman movie, when Bruce's parents are killed, they're getting out from a cinema that's playing Zorro's movie. All a tribute.
    But a big difference, besides Zorro is a rich owner of an "hacienda" he doesnt "fight criminals" but defends the poor from an abusive government and gives them power. Batman is a rich who fights criminals but not much for white collar criminals 🤣🤣 pont for zorro. I love this movie, was an icon when I was a kid.

    30:00 I don't know... she drew a blade on him, he defended himself and isntead of injuring her he only humiliated her. As for her not being as good as him Don Rafael would never have allowed his daughter to learn more than the basic for selfe defence purposes. Truth be told I'm suprised he allowed her to fence at all.

  • @DaDunge

Diego’s reflects his Spanish Heritage (Metal Clasp, European style Hat, Gloves that Flare out, and Heeled Boots) while Alejandro’s reflects his Mexican Nationality (Open Shirt, Tribal Design on the Hat, Thinner Gloves and Cowboy Stirrups on the Boots).

    I do enjoy watching your reactions, and I do not want to make this political, but you seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of Capitalism. Don Montero is not a capitalist, what he is doing has nothing to do with capitalism, capitalism is simply a market driven economic system centered on the idea of the respect of property rights and private market driven means of production, capitalism is about trade and entrepreneurship. Don Montero was stealing and slaving, not trading and producing, therefore he was not a capitalist. In fact I see Zoro as the capitalist, because he privately took it upon himself to provide security and rescue to those poor people, that is capitalism.
    I do encourage you to do a bit more research into the economics and ideas of capitalism and understand it better.

    I don't think there's anything wrong with any of the scenes in this movie or the "age" they come from! You're a bit too sensitive, don't let all this woke crap rule your life, men and women used to be able to get along just fine together and now you can't even walk past each other without someone getting offended!!! We all know women got the shit end of the stick for all of history, but now y'all are taking your retribution too far and ridiculing scenes in movies that are harmless!!!!!!! This shit is out of hand, just be cool towards one another and don't treat each other like shit, but don't nit pick stupid shit, it's ridiculous!!!!!!! Just treat each other with respect and have a laugh!!!!!!! Anyway I like your channel and I love watching you see these fims for the first time!!!

    It's around the opposite end of Capitalism.

      Oh for sure they are aristocrats but they are the ones in charge or at the helm of our capitalistic society. Would we have aristocrats without capitalism?

      @@Sessis Uhm... no? They were appointed governors of territories within California by the royal Spanish court to act as their voice. They got ousted by Mexico when it declared it's independence of Spain, and now they want to buy California to return to ruling it but free of Spain. That's an Aristocracy, and capitalism has nothing to do with that.
      And would aristocrats exist without capitalism? Yes, aristocracies have existed long before capitalism even came to be. That's born nobility.

      Capitalism was the driving force of the American Industrial Revolution. Europe took notice and copied, allowing them to live above the standards of a medievall Society. Then the third world took notice, those who were able copied them. Now the only third world countries that are left are those who were unwilling or unable to be capitalistic. Truthfully I feel sorry for them.

      Did I ever claim I don’t participate in capitalism? 💀 You can criticize and dislike a system, especially one that you don’t have much of a choice not participating in. Idk why you so emotional about it. Hope you get better soon, seem disruptive.

      @Sessis - Actually, I merely stated facts.
      And you are certainly able to live a life without taking part in market economy, but you won't, because it's difficult.
      And we have capitalism to thank for such a beautiful thing.

      Well communism is pitched as a system that would bring about a utopia. While capitalism isnt perfect no system is. Its not possible to get rid of all hunger and starvation under any system. Capitalism has brought about innovation and lifted millions of people out of absolute poverty over the years
