The Merchant kept Leon's jacket, then had it dry-cleaned and rubbed the leather down in quality oil before packaging it and then mailing it back to Leon. "To my best customer! It's a lovely jacket, mate. Try and hold onto it this time, eh?"
I loved that when Ada Reaches the church you can hear Ashley crying in the room or if you head to the village from the church, you can hear Leon Battling it out with the villagers.
During the cutscene where Ada said she’s been stood up, it’s hard to notice and easily missable, but in the bottom left corner of the screen, you can see Mendez carrying Luis in the bag over his shoulder to the lakeside cabin.
This, to me, is the best RE DLC we have ever gotten. It compliments Leon's campaign perfectly, and feels fresh and fleshed out without straying to far away from the original formula. Loved it!
This and RE7’s DLCs I feel are so vital to closing out and getting the best experience. It’s a shame that the Rose dlc is such a letdown. If anything it’s fun just to have closure. It should have been Ada DLC 100% instead.
Ada's exchange with the Merchant or her comment upon freeing the chicken from the oven made me like her so much. The base game didn't make her justice IMO but now Separate Ways did things right.
It also doesn’t help that we barely got to see her in the base game, with several scenes from the OG like her interactions with Krauser or Leon choking her due to the plaga being cut. But SW at least largely makes up for it.
Ada grew on me so much throughout SW, like I didnt completely hate the va performance but I kind of just forgot about Ada through most of re4r. Now I want a whole new campaign with just her, same charming VA and all

Ada's style is so unique like a mix between catwoman and spider-woman style she's so fun to play, also Luis went from S into S++ character in the DLC, he's like the heart that glued the characters and RE4 story perfectly, he easily became my favorite character and i wish he'd survive, capcom outdid themselves there 👏
Important thing to note for RPD Leon! To unlock his costume you only need S+ (500k points), not S++ (1mil points) on every character, which is way more manageable.
😂 wait only 500k? Damn I guess grinding a million + on every map with every chracter was pointless. Least it makes the docks more managable it seems impossible to do with Luis.

What's so mysterious? She's a Chinese mercenary. In the start of re2 she was mysterious because we didn't know who she is. But we at this point know everything important about her, there's no mystery, she's no hunk.

Luis is the best character in RE4 remake hands down. Also you only need to S+ for Leon’s RPD costume not S++. The fact that this DLC was $10 and longer then RE3 Remake is insane.
The main story in re4r can be beaten in 80 minutes. What a cash grab am I right? Re4 is so short. You beat re3 in an hour your first playthrough like everyone else did apparently right babe?

Ada is GORGEOUS and yes, RE4:R's 'Separate Ways' campaign was the way a 'B Scenario' should be. Like, parallel, but its own thing. Oh, and the remix of Ada's theme for the chapter intermission thing is coo. And yes, Luis' inclusion and expanded storyline beats was AMAZING!!!! It really helped show just how sincere Luis' motivations were and gut punch us more when, y'know, he dies. Plus, I thought it was cool that Ada was infected and how it only added to Luis' importance. And yes, 3.5 stuff is awesome. I actually wanna see more of that. Tbh, I liked Ada's characterization now that I know that a lot of it was more of a 'mask' than anything else.

I laughed out loud when Wesker was talking about complete local saturation. One of my friends and I constantly quote RE5 to each other, love how goofy the dialogue is in that game

I really gotta echo the sentiment of this Ada growing on me. I already thought she was fine with the exception of a few flatly delivered lines in the main campaign, but Separate Ways really recontextualized her overall character for me. Everyone in this game is grappling with past trauma. Leon is a lot colder than he was in RE2 but still has a sense of humor and charm. I chalk it up to the fact that he's actively doing what he knows is the right thing. Ada doesn't have that luxury. She's a cog in the gear that works to cause harm. We get to listen to her internalizing the consequences of her actions in the opening monologue. She's detached herself and made herself colder, knowing that what she's doing could lead to the world's destruction. Witnessing Leon and Luis fight to make things right is what inspires her flip the switch at the end and turn on Wesker. I never thought I'd be writing a whole dissertation on the fucking story of Resident Evil of all things but man. Capcom really made the perfect game here. Amazing video as always, Suzi! ❤
Agreed on everything you said here! I'm really happy with how they made everyone a better more nuanced version of the original. Ada has the most glaring change in that we never really saw her struggle before. She seems more human here as far as RE goes. We saw her get nervous, agitated and doubt herself from time to time. A far cry from the calm, collected and often playful Ada that the original showed us. This is a more raw take on her and it just pushes the envelope in terms of growth potential on her story. Capcom should explore this more because they really planted the seeds in this remake.
Agreed! On top of that, Ada holds herself to a very high standard as a professional in her line of work. The fact that she nearly failed and almost died during the events of RE2R because of her unplanned growing attachment to Leon must've pushed her to be more cold if she ever encountered him again. And she tries for the most part in RE4R's main scenario. What makes the "flat" delivery of such detachment so fitting is that she tries AND FAILS to be detached. Her tone of voice and her cadence say she's trying not to care, but her decisions and actions otherwise betray what she truly feels - she absolutely still cares for Leon in much the same way as before (if not more so) and to a certain extent innocent Ashley as well. The delivery sounded weird because she was conflicted and did not really have her heart set on being cold and detached, no matter how she insists to herself otherwise.

I never had an issue with Ada in RE4make, but Separate Ways was the icing on the cake. The characterisation was brilliant, so many small details. The ways she interacts with Wesker was great, like, there's an element of fear that you see her deal with. With Leon it's the opposite, she's fond of him, but she struggles to show it. The teddybear on the keys took on new meaning. I'd love to see Capcom take this more layered version of Ada into her own game.
I love how much love has been given to this DLC. Did everybody notice that even ganados phrases were adapted to match Ada's gender (Such as Forastero to Forastera, or Cogedlo to Cogedla)? This is such an attention to detail, and as an Spanish speaker makes my heart happy and warm ❤
Another little hint we got in this DLC. At the end we see that Wesker was in a giant, white, high tech yacht the whole time. Well, does any one remember a particular fishy boss fight in RE5. Where did it take place?
One thing interesting that was found in an in-game document. Krauser was the first successful experiment with the Amber (which is revealed to be stronger than the dominant strain Saddler had). A hint at things to come, maybe?
That's exactly why Wesker took his body, and why Ada's "little act of defiance changes nothing". He's already seen the result of a successful experiment and he knows what to look for when dissecting it. That will speed up the development of Uroboros by *years*.
@@captaincube132Also to point out he was right to have a backup plan and not put total faith in Ada. In the original, we know Ada never intended to give Wesker the master sample. He also got it from Krauser’s corpse in the original Separate Ways as well.
Finished it a few nights ago and it was so much fun! I loved how Ada and Leon have two different styles of play. Leon is more like Super Cop and will just bash his way guns blazing while Ada feels more like Super Spy stealthy taking out people from a distance. Yeah I agree with Suzi, they were made for each other.
Everything about Separates Way for the Remake is fantastic. It is a shame Capcom doesn't put out this quality in every game they do. Also, love the new costumes especially Luis' new costume which I like more than his original! Lastly, the flamenco dance at the beginning is probably my favorite part! Edit: One thing I did realizea after playing thorugh the reason Ada vomits the plaga is because Pasanta is the one who infected her and now that it was dead, its plaga no longer had that connection with it and thus she vomited it out. It also parallels to the ganados we see when Saddler dies at the end of the story.
@@newacc6065 the problem its that Capcom doesnt care, even the community manager are muting anyone that are disagree with the current direction. Maybe if the protest was still going on as after the release of RE3R but majority are now too focused on this RE4R that they already forgot the mediocre development of RE3R and Capcom obtained the result he expected so they will jump in to new RE games instead to fix this disappointment, even the new producer doesnt care about RE3 so its a very hard situation...
I 'unno, Leon having a death dialogue with her after Mr. X mortally injures her smashing her into an electronic console in OG RE2's Leon A scenario is pretty vulnerable. Although I suppose that's not the canon story path, but she does kind of have the whole bit where Leon is trying to prevent her falling to her death, in the Leon B scenario.
@@GoldieTamamo Well there's also the train ride where she ditches the "mask" for a bit and tells him she's not worth his feelings or something like that.
In RE2R when she falls & gets impaled in the trash area, then admits to herself she needs Leon’s help while looking scared when she hears G3 nearby. Later when Leon saves her and she tells him the situation is worse than she thought and he should just leave her and escape while he still could. When she’s about to fall off the bridge and calls out Leon’s name to pull her up but once she knows he can’t, tells him to forget it bc she’s not worth it anyway
Yeah, I also found it odd that Wesker was apparently just. There. The whole time. Like, he's more than capable so why is Ada doing all the hard work again? It's funny thinking there was a (very small) chance of Leon bumbling his way into Wesker at any moment.

I finished the game in about 4 and a half hours and it felt like the game was fully complete at that point. It was full nostalgia overload and I loved every second of it.
They definitely have RE5 in mind, but I think it'll be RE1, CV, RE5 so they can ride the remake train longer and setup the Wesker story arc to be concluded in 5.
Financially it makes more sense to remake 5 and just have a series recap video. If they cared about story they would have remade 1 instead of 2 and CV instead of 4. I don’t think they aren’t going to sink millions of dollars and thousands of hours into projects just for the sake of a coherent story (which was always REs weakest trait)
@@JoesGuy Yes, but people keep saying CV needs to be remade before 5 for story reasons / so modern audiences can understand. My point is they don't care about modern audiences understanding what's going on as they started with 2 as opposed to remaking 1 again.
I'm surprised to hear just how much content there is for this iteration of Separate Ways. Can't wait to pick it up for myself. In the meantime, I've been having a blast with Ada and Wesker in The Mercenaries.
@@thegreygoblin5165 Nah, it’s even less at $10. By far the cheapest story RE DLC we’ve gotten so far and 100% worth it, since End of Zoe was $15 and Shadows of Rose was included in a $20 expansion with new Mercenaries content and third-person mode for the main campaign.
Honestly, as much as I love RE2R, RE4R Ada's Separate Way is a HUGE GREAT example of how to make a B Side story and Ada voice acting fits more as she coming off as flat but still has lot on her mind but also sympathic at most scenes. I been hooke don mercenaries and got half way into Separate Ways and GOD its fantastic. Nice video as always, love hearing your take with some subtle twists in them
Definitely faithful and added alot that wasn't in the main game people wanted, which is great. Also wesker is so fun, both in mercenaries and in SW "COMPLETE LOCAL SATURATION"
The Separate Ways DLC is easily the best addition to RE4 Remake. I didn't care for the original DLC much because it barely felt any different compared to the main game but this is the best example of how you make a great DLC. I am so surprised it actually cost 10$ because there is so much content and new stuff that we didn't see in RE4 Remake. This DLC made me actually like Ada a lot. It humanized her character and Lilly Gaol grew on me with her performance. I know this is gonna piss a lot of people but I think she is my favorite iteration of the character. It's awkward how a 10$ DLC was much better than one that cost 15$. I'mma let you guess what DLC I am talking about. Hint: it came out this year.
You can really tell that this DLC was created simultaneously with the main game, rather than as an after thought. I'd say it's a better A/B scenario than they managed in RE2R. Would love to see this kind of attention to crossing paths utilized in a potential RE1 re-remake. But I'm also pretty good on remakes for the time being. Though I'd be lying if I didn't say I was foaming at the mouth for a CV remake. And Outbreak.
I beat this on Hardcore last night. There were some moments that really kicked my ass, especially that fight against U-3 in the smallest arena ever. My only question is... Assignment Hunk, when?
Oh God, having a RE Revalations with Ada as a main character would be my Ada Fanboy dream coming true 😍 They could even put a better performance for her, to better display emotion, since the only moment i saw her being emotionally vulnerable was during that bonus art that could be unlocked in the classic RE3
I’d love to get a full game with Ada and Leon as the main characters building their emotional relationship or even getting a full game of just Ada she’s genuinely such an interesting character and so fun to play and stunning
What I found funny about this dlc is that it's obviously shorter than main game but I think it still has the same amount of boss fights as the main game.
Hard to believe Separate Ways Remake is far better than RE3 Remake alone by miles. A DLC content for goodness sakes. Safe to say this is the gold standard for RE DLCs.
I am one of the few people that enjoyed 3 remake but this dlc blew this out of the water. 10 bucks for the same amount of content and better gameplay. I could see myself playing this over and over.
That Martinico monster was a nice change of pace. That thing scared the hell out of me. The first time I encountered it I ran into a dead end and fired multiple shots that did nothing. Should’ve read the files. The second time I managed to escape the first chase, but the second chase was a different story. It was terrifying knowing that this deformed indestructible bastard was right behind me about to rip me a new asshole.
Fun fact: Pesanta is the name of a cat-like creature (sometimes a dog) in Catalan folklore that is known for causing sleep paralysis, which kinda seems fitting for a creature that causes hallucinations. I loved that detail because it seems like they really invested more time in exploring Spanish culture and not just using stereotypes.
@@grahamcarpenter691 it wasn't even mexican, it was portuguese actors trying to speak mexican spanish. That's why they had a lot of mispronounciations. Also, remake Luis' actor is also Spanish and you can hear his accent in some lines when he speak Spanish
I really love how instead of saying she cares, feels bad about her actions, wants to do better and cares about Leon; that she does does so through her facial and body expressions instead of her voice. It works well with her character, as a mysterious spy that vocally isn't expressive, but otherwise is a very "vocal" person in terms of body expressions. Its a nice touch. Sure, she may lose her composure sometimes even though rare, but its done pretty intentionally. *Spoilers ahead* I really liked when she was looking at Krauser and Saddler taking Ashely on the island, Wesker held her at gunpoint to blow up the island. Later, Wesker is smiling while looking at Krauser and Saddler like the villain he is, scheming a move; and she is staring right at him and picks up on it. Shows her very analytical and smart way of being. That's just one of many cases of she conveys her emotion. What touched my heart was when she got to the boat to go to the island, and hides when she hears Leon running that she smiles and softly says "Leon". It was so endearing. One last one is the concern on her face become stoic when she sees Ashely before going to give Leon the RPG. Also, I love Ashely is really concerned about Leon there and you really see how much their bond grew. This DLC was amazing, and the base game already clocked me in at 150 hrs, I am definitely having this RE game as most played soon with the DLC. Can't wait to see what they do with Wesker's character going forward.
She doesnt do it through hwr voice because Lily Gao isnt not too good fo a voice actress or was very lazily directed, so her performance is forever monotone and soulless sounding. Capcom really blew it with her character in that regard. They either should've cast someone more experienced in voice acting or directed Gao more to get a decent performance out of her, they done neither so its what it is...
@@Kacpa2 I personally like it, fits her whole character and where they’re driving her character to. It’s more realistic and I feel as if capcom did it intentionally. I didn’t like her VA too much either in base RE4R because we barely saw her and just heard her more. Yet, now that we see her express herself more through the game, I like her more. Her VA does a pretty good job imo now that she has more dialogue and now the motion capture can be used to the full extent. It’s her body language and facial expressions that really sell it.
@@happymikasa7226 I didnt say a colder acting Ada wouldnt work, but she is complete blank and monotone even tho it would greatly benefit her to string Leon and Luis along, same way she did in RE2R. There were plenty of moment she acted colder to Leon there too especially early on or when she confronted Anette, but it didnt feel hollow like RE4R performance.
Yes, exactly! I completely agree. Ada's expressions are subtle, but the emotion is still there. Every once in a while you see the cracks in her facade. Lily found the perfect balance of being expressive enough that it doesn't feel stiff, but isn't overly expressive to the point that it's out of character.
I just realized that there was no mention of the remix of her original theme from RE2 Original. It plays at the end of each chapter I believe and when saving I think. I thought it was pretty damn cool considering how much I loved her original theme from the classic RE2.
There's also a really cool detail at the very end of the game. When Wesker is walking on the deck of the ship, there is a slowed down version of "Winds of Madness" playing in the background, which I think pretty much confirms RE5 Remake is next.

I hate that I didn't find this channel sooner. Her voice is so soothing and her love for resident evil is so authentic and speaks so eloquently about the games and series as a whole. Subscribing ASAP!
I just love how ada has unique melee animations and uses her grapple hook! One nitpick I had was that she had the same moves as Leon in the original, happy they changed that.
Now this.... is a 10 out of 10 right here. It's incredible with how well this whole game really was. Doing a lot of different stuff while also trying out a lot of new stuff, I would say more but then I would end up spoiling the game so all I'm gonna say is RE 4 remake is my #1 favorite next to RE 2 and 3 and Village
My only complaints with this DLC were in environmental continuity errors. It was like OG RE3 where the police station looked different than what we saw in OG RE2. Blockades in places they weren't with Leon, or there before Leon arrives. It was so weird. Oh and being thrown into a boss fight 5 minutes in. lol Overall I had a really fun time with it!!
I love how silly Luis is in the opening scene. It's cute and funny and it gives him all the more character! He's like a character magnet! And speaking of new games, I have a thought that the RE team are creating a new timeline. Like a soft reboot, without exactly rebooting things. So we get a polished series of games where at SOME POINT we'll properly go forward in the timeline, but first, gotta set things "right"
I was pleasantly surprised how long it was. I knew the original was fairly short, so I didn’t think it would be very long. I finally finished my S+ professional run today. This game was best $10 I’ve ever spent. The serenity song also being remastered, hit me right in the nostalgia feels.
Was beyond happy with this DLC! Really cool little detail I found that I think a lot of people missed when Ada’s by the church if you grapple hook up to the roof and wait by the window you can actually here Ashley crying was such a cool little detail
I want a few more DLCs! A Krauser story with him in a Operation Javier. A Luis story with him as the unreliable narrator playing the hero with his sidekick Leon and the damsel Ashley in tow, but along the way, he must avenge Leon's heroic sacrifice against Krauser and him sailing off into the sunset with Ashely and later awarded a medal by the President, then the screen fades into Luis' fantastical life finished flashing before dying eyes as Leon grieves for his passing. Also, more Mercenaries additions, like alternate costume/loadout in RE5 & 6. Add Ashely like with her in a weaponless knight armor just body slamming everyone or a potential future Ashley where she is a Secret Service agent.
If you read the file near Martinico, it turns out that Krauser is the only person who succeeded experiment with the Amber. Which is why Wesker was there, looking for info about how the Amber works, and take Krauser's body instead of other master plaga remains like Salazar or Mendez. It clears things up. It added more context to why Krauser is perfect subtitutions for the Amber.
Yes. Also, at the end of the base game, it seemed like Ada's decision gets in the way of RE5, but it turns out Wesker already had what he needed. Letting her continue to go after the Amber was just a distraction by the time he changed her mission.
I hope you see this comment. But the music really reminds me, especially on the island, of Dead Rising. Charging up a certain flight of stairs made me feel like Frank West was going to show up for the scoop at any moment
The Seperate ways remake DLC is the perfect example of what a remake/DLC should be for me. It modernizes the story in a very good way and the gameplay is amazing. It's really a love letter to the fans who have been with the RE franchise for a long time now. All the subtle references and details, it's a gift that keeps on giving!
RE4R Separate Ways is a quality DLC more than worth the $10. Really enjoyed the added verticality to levels and the soundtrack slaps. I wish we weren't stuck with Nyquil Ada but accepting that, it's a good experience.
Gotta love, when Capcom fleshes out and uses some of the ideas they scrapped at one point in time. Or stuff they never got to use properly, they brought back for a later entry in the series.
I like the laser hallway being a mash-up of the RE4 and movie/REUC versions. General aesthetic of the latter, but the orange lasers of the former. And then the final nod to the film is a neat touch.

This DLC made me want to play the full game with Ada. It would be best if Merchant came back as support xD And I really love Lily Gao as Ada. The voice acting in the DLC is much better than in the base game. And I already liked her Ada in base game.
I was watching your story video while playing Separate ways and as you were predicting the u3 fight, the cutscene started playing for me. I just really loved the timing. The odds were insane
Another little secret is: When Ada parks the jet ski, she looks at the keys and here u will see the keys do not have the Teddy Bear Keychain. I assume she bought it from the Merchant for 70,000 😂 then put it on the keys so she could throw them to Leon in the end as a parting gift. Also if you play the OG SW, you will see the Teddy Bear has zipper back which maybe a small detail hinting that she may put sth inside for Leon 😊 maybe a phone number who knows! But it is Capcom confirmed that they do meet up some time between RE5 ~ Damnation Movie.
My favorite thing is how in the main game we kind of are left wondering why ada just threw the amber away. We get some hints in it but not fully. In this you actually get the progression of her slowly understanding how shady wesker is and she gets more and more hesitant as the story goes on. So it actually is entirely in character for her to get rid of it by the end.

During the cutscene where Ada said she’s been stood up, it’s hard to notice and easily missable, but in the bottom left corner of the screen, you can see Mendez carrying Luis in the bag over his shoulder to the lakeside cabin.

This, to me, is the best RE DLC we have ever gotten. It compliments Leon's campaign perfectly, and feels fresh and fleshed out without straying to far away from the original formula. Loved it!
This and RE7’s DLCs I feel are so vital to closing out and getting the best experience. It’s a shame that the Rose dlc is such a letdown. If anything it’s fun just to have closure. It should have been Ada DLC 100% instead.

Ada's exchange with the Merchant or her comment upon freeing the chicken from the oven made me like her so much. The base game didn't make her justice IMO but now Separate Ways did things right.
It also doesn’t help that we barely got to see her in the base game, with several scenes from the OG like her interactions with Krauser or Leon choking her due to the plaga being cut. But SW at least largely makes up for it.
Ada grew on me so much throughout SW, like I didnt completely hate the va performance but I kind of just forgot about Ada through most of re4r. Now I want a whole new campaign with just her, same charming VA and all

Ada's style is so unique like a mix between catwoman and spider-woman style she's so fun to play, also Luis went from S into S++ character in the DLC, he's like the heart that glued the characters and RE4 story perfectly, he easily became my favorite character and i wish he'd survive, capcom outdid themselves there 👏
Important thing to note for RPD Leon! To unlock his costume you only need S+ (500k points), not S++ (1mil points) on every character, which is way more manageable.
😂 wait only 500k? Damn I guess grinding a million + on every map with every chracter was pointless. Least it makes the docks more managable it seems impossible to do with Luis.

Ada is GORGEOUS and yes, RE4:R's 'Separate Ways' campaign was the way a 'B Scenario' should be. Like, parallel, but its own thing. Oh, and the remix of Ada's theme for the chapter intermission thing is coo.
And yes, Luis' inclusion and expanded storyline beats was AMAZING!!!! It really helped show just how sincere Luis' motivations were and gut punch us more when, y'know, he dies.
Plus, I thought it was cool that Ada was infected and how it only added to Luis' importance.
And yes, 3.5 stuff is awesome. I actually wanna see more of that.
Tbh, I liked Ada's characterization now that I know that a lot of it was more of a 'mask' than anything else.
Its crazy RE4 Remake originally dropped six months ago but it feels like so much longer. 2023 has been a loaded year for gaming.

Luis was already a character I liked in the original, and this game and the dlc further enforced that. Such a great character.
I really gotta echo the sentiment of this Ada growing on me. I already thought she was fine with the exception of a few flatly delivered lines in the main campaign, but Separate Ways really recontextualized her overall character for me. Everyone in this game is grappling with past trauma. Leon is a lot colder than he was in RE2 but still has a sense of humor and charm. I chalk it up to the fact that he's actively doing what he knows is the right thing. Ada doesn't have that luxury. She's a cog in the gear that works to cause harm. We get to listen to her internalizing the consequences of her actions in the opening monologue. She's detached herself and made herself colder, knowing that what she's doing could lead to the world's destruction. Witnessing Leon and Luis fight to make things right is what inspires her flip the switch at the end and turn on Wesker. I never thought I'd be writing a whole dissertation on the fucking story of Resident Evil of all things but man. Capcom really made the perfect game here. Amazing video as always, Suzi! ❤
Agreed on everything you said here! I'm really happy with how they made everyone a better more nuanced version of the original. Ada has the most glaring change in that we never really saw her struggle before. She seems more human here as far as RE goes. We saw her get nervous, agitated and doubt herself from time to time. A far cry from the calm, collected and often playful Ada that the original showed us. This is a more raw take on her and it just pushes the envelope in terms of growth potential on her story. Capcom should explore this more because they really planted the seeds in this remake.
Agreed! On top of that, Ada holds herself to a very high standard as a professional in her line of work. The fact that she nearly failed and almost died during the events of RE2R because of her unplanned growing attachment to Leon must've pushed her to be more cold if she ever encountered him again. And she tries for the most part in RE4R's main scenario. What makes the "flat" delivery of such detachment so fitting is that she tries AND FAILS to be detached. Her tone of voice and her cadence say she's trying not to care, but her decisions and actions otherwise betray what she truly feels - she absolutely still cares for Leon in much the same way as before (if not more so) and to a certain extent innocent Ashley as well. The delivery sounded weird because she was conflicted and did not really have her heart set on being cold and detached, no matter how she insists to herself otherwise.

I never had an issue with Ada in RE4make, but Separate Ways was the icing on the cake. The characterisation was brilliant, so many small details. The ways she interacts with Wesker was great, like, there's an element of fear that you see her deal with. With Leon it's the opposite, she's fond of him, but she struggles to show it. The teddybear on the keys took on new meaning. I'd love to see Capcom take this more layered version of Ada into her own game.
I noticed how she’s blank when she’s around Leon but when she’s either alone or with others she’s more alive.
I love how much love has been given to this DLC. Did everybody notice that even ganados phrases were adapted to match Ada's gender (Such as Forastero to Forastera, or Cogedlo to Cogedla)? This is such an attention to detail, and as an Spanish speaker makes my heart happy and warm ❤

Another little hint we got in this DLC. At the end we see that Wesker was in a giant, white, high tech yacht the whole time. Well, does any one remember a particular fishy boss fight in RE5. Where did it take place?

One thing interesting that was found in an in-game document. Krauser was the first successful experiment with the Amber (which is revealed to be stronger than the dominant strain Saddler had). A hint at things to come, maybe?
That's exactly why Wesker took his body, and why Ada's "little act of defiance changes nothing". He's already seen the result of a successful experiment and he knows what to look for when dissecting it. That will speed up the development of Uroboros by *years*.
@@captaincube132Also to point out he was right to have a backup plan and not put total faith in Ada. In the original, we know Ada never intended to give Wesker the master sample. He also got it from Krauser’s corpse in the original Separate Ways as well.
Finished it a few nights ago and it was so much fun! I loved how Ada and Leon have two different styles of play. Leon is more like Super Cop and will just bash his way guns blazing while Ada feels more like Super Spy stealthy taking out people from a distance. Yeah I agree with Suzi, they were made for each other.
Everything about Separates Way for the Remake is fantastic. It is a shame Capcom doesn't put out this quality in every game they do. Also, love the new costumes especially Luis' new costume which I like more than his original! Lastly, the flamenco dance at the beginning is probably my favorite part!
Edit: One thing I did realizea after playing thorugh the reason Ada vomits the plaga is because Pasanta is the one who infected her and now that it was dead, its plaga no longer had that connection with it and thus she vomited it out. It also parallels to the ganados we see when Saddler dies at the end of the story.
RE3R was ditched only for this game, confirmed now...

Maybe if the protest was still going on as after the release of RE3R but majority are now too focused on this RE4R that they already forgot the mediocre development of RE3R and Capcom obtained the result he expected so they will jump in to new RE games instead to fix this disappointment, even the new producer doesnt care about RE3 so its a very hard situation...

I 'unno, Leon having a death dialogue with her after Mr. X mortally injures her smashing her into an electronic console in OG RE2's Leon A scenario is pretty vulnerable. Although I suppose that's not the canon story path, but she does kind of have the whole bit where Leon is trying to prevent her falling to her death, in the Leon B scenario.

In RE2R when she falls & gets impaled in the trash area, then admits to herself she needs Leon’s help while looking scared when she hears G3 nearby. Later when Leon saves her and she tells him the situation is worse than she thought and he should just leave her and escape while he still could. When she’s about to fall off the bridge and calls out Leon’s name to pull her up but once she knows he can’t, tells him to forget it bc she’s not worth it anyway

I finished the game in about 4 and a half hours and it felt like the game was fully complete at that point. It was full nostalgia overload and I loved every second of it.

They definitely have RE5 in mind, but I think it'll be RE1, CV, RE5 so they can ride the remake train longer and setup the Wesker story arc to be concluded in 5.

Financially it makes more sense to remake 5 and just have a series recap video. If they cared about story they would have remade 1 instead of 2 and CV instead of 4. Honestly, as much as I love RE2R, RE4R Ada's Separate Way is a HUGE GREAT example of how to make a B Side story and Ada voice acting fits more as she coming off as flat but still has lot on her mind but also sympathic at most scenes. I been hooke don mercenaries and got half way into Separate Ways and GOD its fantastic. Nice video as always, love hearing your take with some subtle twists in them

The Separate Ways DLC is easily the best addition to RE4 Remake. I didn't care for the original DLC much because it barely felt any different compared to the main game but this is the best example of how you make a great DLC. I am so surprised it actually cost 10$ because there is so much content and new stuff that we didn't see in RE4 Remake. This DLC made me actually like Ada a lot. It humanized her character and Lilly Gaol grew on me with her performance. I know this is gonna piss a lot of people but I think she is my favorite iteration of the character. It's awkward how a 10$ DLC was much better than one that cost 15$. I'mma let you guess what DLC I am talking about. Hint: it came out this year.

You can really tell that this DLC was created simultaneously with the main game, rather than as an after thought. I'd say it's a better A/B scenario than they managed in RE2R. Would love to see this kind of attention to crossing paths utilized in a potential RE1 re-remake. But I'm also pretty good on remakes for the time being. Though I'd be lying if I didn't say I was foaming at the mouth for a CV remake. And Outbreak.
I beat this on Hardcore last night. There were some moments that really kicked my ass, especially that fight against U-3 in the smallest arena ever. My only question is... Assignment Hunk, when?
Oh God, having a RE Revalations with Ada as a main character would be my Ada Fanboy dream coming true 😍 They could even put a better performance for her, to better display emotion, since the only moment i saw her being emotionally vulnerable was during that bonus art that could be unlocked in the classic RE3

What I found funny about this dlc is that it's obviously shorter than main game but I think it still has the same amount of boss fights as the main game.
Hard to believe Separate Ways Remake is far better than RE3 Remake alone by miles. A DLC content for goodness sakes. Safe to say this is the gold standard for RE DLCs.
I am one of the few people that enjoyed 3 remake but this dlc blew this out of the water. 10 bucks for the same amount of content and better gameplay. I could see myself playing this over and over.
Luis is the backbone story arc in RE4R, every other character revolves around his arc from their perspective.

That Martinico monster was a nice change of pace. That thing scared the hell out of me. The first time I encountered it I ran into a dead end and fired multiple shots that did nothing. Should’ve read the files. The second time I managed to escape the first chase, but the second chase was a different story. It was terrifying knowing that this deformed indestructible bastard was right behind me about to rip me a new asshole.
I loved Ada's spotlight too! Gread vid, Suz! 😁😁
Fun fact: Pesanta is the name of a cat-like creature (sometimes a dog) in Catalan folklore that is known for causing sleep paralysis, which kinda seems fitting for a creature that causes hallucinations. I loved that detail because it seems like they really invested more time in exploring Spanish culture and not just using stereotypes.
And using actual Spaniard accents instead of Mexican Spanish! That always annoyed me about RE4 2005
@@grahamcarpenter691 it wasn't even mexican, it was portuguese actors trying to speak mexican spanish. That's why they had a lot of mispronounciations. Also, remake Luis' actor is also Spanish and you can hear his accent in some lines when he speak Spanish
I really love how instead of saying she cares, feels bad about her actions, wants to do better and cares about Leon; that she does does so through her facial and body expressions instead of her voice. It works well with her character, as a mysterious spy that vocally isn't expressive, but otherwise is a very "vocal" person in terms of body expressions. Its a nice touch. Sure, she may lose her composure sometimes even though rare, but its done pretty intentionally. *Spoilers ahead*
I really liked when she was looking at Krauser and Saddler taking Ashely on the island, Wesker held her at gunpoint to blow up the island. Later, Wesker is smiling while looking at Krauser and Saddler like the villain he is, scheming a move; and she is staring right at him and picks up on it. Shows her very analytical and smart way of being. That's just one of many cases of she conveys her emotion. What touched my heart was when she got to the boat to go to the island, and hides when she hears Leon running that she smiles and softly says "Leon". It was so endearing. One last one is the concern on her face become stoic when she sees Ashely before going to give Leon the RPG. Also, I love Ashely is really concerned about Leon there and you really see how much their bond grew. This DLC was amazing, and the base game already clocked me in at 150 hrs, I am definitely having this RE game as most played soon with the DLC. Can't wait to see what they do with Wesker's character going forward.
She doesnt do it through hwr voice because Lily Gao isnt not too good fo a voice actress or was very lazily directed, so her performance is forever monotone and soulless sounding. Capcom really blew it with her character in that regard. They either should've cast someone more experienced in voice acting or directed Gao more to get a decent performance out of her, they done neither so its what it is...
@@Kacpa2 I personally like it, fits her whole character and where they’re driving her character to. It’s more realistic and I feel as if capcom did it intentionally. I didn’t like her VA too much either in base RE4R because we barely saw her and just heard her more. Yet, now that we see her express herself more through the game, I like her more. Her VA does a pretty good job imo now that she has more dialogue and now the motion capture can be used to the full extent. It’s her body language and facial expressions that really sell it.
@@happymikasa7226 I didnt say a colder acting Ada wouldnt work, but she is complete blank and monotone even tho it would greatly benefit her to string Leon and Luis along, same way she did in RE2R. There were plenty of moment she acted colder to Leon there too especially early on or when she confronted Anette, but it didnt feel hollow like RE4R performance.

Yes, exactly! I completely agree. Ada's expressions are subtle, but the emotion is still there. Every once in a while you see the cracks in her facade. Lily found the perfect balance of being expressive enough that it doesn't feel stiff, but isn't overly expressive to the point that it's out of character.
I like Ada's voice. Definitely has a 'virginia slim 120 woman' kinda vibe

I just realized that there was no mention of the remix of her original theme from RE2 Original. It plays at the end of each chapter I believe and when saving I think. I thought it was pretty damn cool considering how much I loved her original theme from the classic RE2.
There's also a really cool detail at the very end of the game. When Wesker is walking on the deck of the ship, there is a slowed down version of "Winds of Madness" playing in the background, which I think pretty much confirms RE5 Remake is next.

I just love how ada has unique melee animations and uses her grapple hook! One nitpick I had was that she had the same moves as Leon in the original, happy they changed that.
Now this.... is a 10 out of 10 right here. It's incredible with how well this whole game really was. Doing a lot of different stuff while also trying out a lot of new stuff, I would say more but then I would end up spoiling the game so all I'm gonna say is RE 4 remake is my #1 favorite next to RE 2 and 3 and Village

My only complaints with this DLC were in environmental continuity errors. It was like OG RE3 where the police station looked different than what we saw in OG RE2. Blockades in places they weren't with Leon, or there before Leon arrives. It was so weird. Oh and being thrown into a boss fight 5 minutes in. lol Overall I had a really fun time with it!!
I love how silly Luis is in the opening scene. It's cute and funny and it gives him all the more character! He's like a character magnet!
And speaking of new games, I have a thought that the RE team are creating a new timeline. Like a soft reboot, without exactly rebooting things. So we get a polished series of games where at SOME POINT we'll properly go forward in the timeline, but first, gotta set things "right"
Separate Ways was so damn good. Ada was so lovely. I happy you enjoyed the DLC
I think the whole hallucinating part us a reference to re 3.5 where Leon was hallucinating and fighting the hookman

I was pleasantly surprised how long it was. I knew the original was fairly short, so I didn’t think it would be very long. I finally finished my S+ professional run today. This game was best $10 I’ve ever spent. The serenity song also being remastered, hit me right in the nostalgia feels.
Was beyond happy with this DLC! Really cool little detail I found that I think a lot of people missed when Ada’s by the church if you grapple hook up to the roof and wait by the window you can actually here Ashley crying was such a cool little detail

I liked little things like that. If you go towards the village, you can hear gunshots from Leon fighting villagers on the other side of the wall.
I want a few more DLCs! A Krauser story with him in a Operation Javier. A Luis story with him as the unreliable narrator playing the hero with his sidekick Leon and the damsel Ashley in tow, but along the way, he must avenge Leon's heroic sacrifice against Krauser and him sailing off into the sunset with Ashely and later awarded a medal by the President, then the screen fades into Luis' fantastical life finished flashing before dying eyes as Leon grieves for his passing.
Also, more Mercenaries additions, like alternate costume/loadout in RE5 & 6. Add Ashely like with her in a weaponless knight armor just body slamming everyone or a potential future Ashley where she is a Secret Service agent.
If you read the file near Martinico, it turns out that Krauser is the only person who succeeded experiment with the Amber. Which is why Wesker was there, looking for info about how the Amber works, and take Krauser's body instead of other master plaga remains like Salazar or Mendez. It clears things up. It added more context to why Krauser is perfect subtitutions for the Amber.
Yes. Also, at the end of the base game, it seemed like Ada's decision gets in the way of RE5, but it turns out Wesker already had what he needed. Letting her continue to go after the Amber was just a distraction by the time he changed her mission.
I hope you see this comment. But the music really reminds me, especially on the island, of Dead Rising. Charging up a certain flight of stairs made me feel like Frank West was going to show up for the scoop at any moment

The Seperate ways remake DLC is the perfect example of what a remake/DLC should be for me. It modernizes the story in a very good way and the gameplay is amazing. It's really a love letter to the fans who have been with the RE franchise for a long time now. All the subtle references and details, it's a gift that keeps on giving!
I believe Ada’s song when Leon leaves her in the office in OG RE2 is used as the chapter end
RE4R Separate Ways is a quality DLC more than worth the $10. Really enjoyed the added verticality to levels and the soundtrack slaps. I wish we weren't stuck with Nyquil Ada but accepting that, it's a good experience.
Gotta love, when Capcom fleshes out and uses some of the ideas they scrapped at one point in time.
Or stuff they never got to use properly, they brought back for a later entry in the series.
In the age of everyone nitpicking at any and everything in video games. Gotta say this review was quite refreshing.
I like the laser hallway being a mash-up of the RE4 and movie/REUC versions. General aesthetic of the latter, but the orange lasers of the former. And then the final nod to the film is a neat touch.
I mean clearly the Merchant has a crush on Leon. Tongue tied and silent in front of a cute boy and holding onto his jacket.

Wesker uses Krausers dominant plaga to form what we see at the end of RE5. You can see the similarities with the arm blade.
The only sad part was krauser cut but makes sense with the Remake Changes

This DLC made me want to play the full game with Ada. It would be best if Merchant came back as support xD And I really love Lily Gao as Ada. The voice acting in the DLC is much better than in the base game. And I already liked her Ada in base game.
I was watching your story video while playing Separate ways and as you were predicting the u3 fight, the cutscene started playing for me. I just really loved the timing. The odds were insane

Another little secret is: When Ada parks the jet ski, she looks at the keys and here u will see the keys do not have the Teddy Bear Keychain. I assume she bought it from the Merchant for 70,000 😂 then put it on the keys so she could throw them to Leon in the end as a parting gift. Also if you play the OG SW, you will see the Teddy Bear has zipper back which maybe a small detail hinting that she may put sth inside for Leon 😊 maybe a phone number who knows! But it is Capcom confirmed that they do meet up some time between RE5 ~ Damnation Movie.

My favorite thing is how in the main game we kind of are left wondering why ada just threw the amber away. We get some hints in it but not fully.
In this you actually get the progression of her slowly understanding how shady wesker is and she gets more and more hesitant as the story goes on. So it actually is entirely in character for her to get rid of it by the end.
