For me, the biggest flaw in this game is Eredin's dead body being such a tease and in the end you can't even loot it for that bloody sword. 0/10

What's truly interesting regarding this fight, is that Geralt used the move to defeat Eredin, the same move that Vesemir told Geralt he needed work with in the first contract undertaken together in Velen. Talk about bringing a character's flaws full circle...

No one is mentioning the legend that is Crach an Craite. Dude is an absolute hero. Props where it's due. Definitely one of my favourite characters, I was distraught when I saw him die and Geralt does not even acknowledge or say anything about him afterwards.

Well that's clever for his enemy, maybe it isn't lethal but the inconvinience should lower geralt's performance if we aren't looking at this fight throught game mechanics which of course aren't considering such details.
Hehe, I remember running out of food during the navigator fight so I spent the entire final boss battle drunk... xDI was so hoping there'd be a dialogue option 'hey wanna play cards?'...

had a build in death march that made me kill imlerith with that ability whirling and it fucked him up so fast that i killed him in the first stage, with that build death march was a piece of cake.
I know spinning and twirling you're sword around does nothing in this battle. But did anyone keep doing it because it looked bad ass how Eredin blocked every spin? Lmao

You can collect his sword with admin console with commend. The reason why they didn't gave us Eredin sword is because it's too long for geralt and it looks simply funny how you doing your attacks. For Eredin it's normal sword for Geralt it's long sword

I feel extremely sad for his dead,and even thought in his way and the skellige one his dead was really honorable and even more in order to honouring his oath to calanthe, he shouldn't have died, he was a brother, and i don't like that geralt doesn't react in order to protect him and to kill eredin alone,obviously that he is a warrior,but geralt should had protect him after all he is a normal human and geralt is a superhuman witcher,but no he has to die like that.

Wow you must be really dumb if you rate a game by one of the thousands of quests in the game and don't even look at the beautiful story and what the game has to tell. Actually Eredin had honor and respect compared to the others. Not gonna lie he had a warrior's spirit. When Imlerith started beating Vesemir to a bloody pulp he stopped him because its shameful. He waited for Crach to make his last stand and die as a true warrior, not kneeling before him. When he is striked down he doesnt beg, doesnt cry, doesnt utter even a painful noise and accepts his fate with dignity. Also as promised he told what he wanted to say. And a little touch at 5:36 look how angry he looks at Geralt, he wanted to die with a sword in his hand, and Geralt denied it from him.
Really respected the guy.

I kinda felt like he stopped Imlerith from killing Vesemir because if he knew that if Vesemir was alive Ciri would give herself up for him. So by Vesemir pulling his dagger and shanking Imlerith he stoked his rage and forced Imlerith to kill him, basically committing suicide so Ciri wouldn't have a reason to surrender.

@@babaracus9583 even if it was accidental it was still his fault and he took control of the throne. Taking the throne was a choice. Also, the oneiromancers dreams are symbolic, not literal. Remember that when Geralt was looking for Ciri he dreamed about a literal swallow harassing Dandelion. And last I checked Ciri is not a bird. So the vision of Eredin saying "The King is dead. Long live the king." Is symbolic of what actually happened. Not literal

even in the cutscenes geralt had a harder time killing imlerith. he had to use every tricks papa vesemir taught him. and killing imlerith was just much more satisfying. but vs eredin? he's not even out of breath or breaking a sweat.

I love the contrast between how Eredin and Geralt treat their defeated foes. Eredin shows his cruelty by tossing Crach's ax back to him, forcing a mortally wounded man to continue fighting. Geralt, by comparison, after soundly defeating Eredin, kicks his sword away as he tries to reach for it. It's as if he's saying, "You've lost. This ends now."

Geralt twists his sword in Caranthir almost as if to gloat. Both are bad given the right circumstances, as with any person
I actually thought, he was giving him an honorable death, considering he's a Skelliger. He tossed him the axe to go out in a fight and even asked him for last words (although that might also been as some sort of mockery), but I stick with my first intuition.

Was i the only one dissapointed with this boss fight? I still feel that imlerith was a way more interesting boss fight, and the cutscene were Geralt obliterates him was so fucking badass and satisfying that it made me believe that they saved the best for last with Eredin but it was nowhere near Imlerith and that really dissapointed me

I see a lot of people talking down my main man, Eredin Breacc Glas.
That he is a boring, one-dimensional character who seems out of place in a series where every character is about as real as they could get, equipped with hopes, fears, motives, baggage, and all of the good stuff that makes us feel engaged with these characters on a personal level.
Eredin is none of these things. Many have said it when the game first came out: he is one-note, hardly in the game despite being the main antagonist, and doesn't say more than twelve lines, most of them being empty one-liners. This opinion has not changed over a year and a half later.
Yet, I think a lot of the hate is unwarranted. I think people are not judging Eredin fairly, meaning, they analyze him under the same lens as any other character, which I think is the wrong approach. Here's why.
As we've all discussed at length, CD Projekt is really good at making complex, grey characters. So why is the main baddie of this epic fantasy drama a gravelly-voiced nobody with less depth than your average Saturday-morning cartoon villain?
I'm of the opinion that this was done intentionally. Eredin is not meant to be character we are supposed to ponder the actions of, wonder what goes on through his head. He, and the Wild Hunt, are meant to be a force of nature - a constant, very real threat always hanging over our protagonists' heads. They're a formidable force, one whose power is truly felt throughout the duration of Wild Hunt's main quest.
This isn't a revolutionary idea, but think Sauron, from Lord of the Rings. He hardly says a line, or even does anything himself. His goals are simple, his character is black as they come. Eredin is practically a spitting image in this comparison.
They're both a foe who can never be defeated through conventional means, and is only ever overcome when a retreat is forced to be made (the Battle at Kaer Morhen) or trickery (Thin Ice). Ultimately, both sides' undoing is what they themselves instigate: an alliance of the world they are invading.
Eredin himself is the face of the Wild Hunt: mysterious, powerful, intimidating, and scary. Showing anything more than that will ruin this image. And to me, every scene he is in carries this sort of presence.
Even when the truth of both him and his riders are revealed, that they are not wraiths or a demonic force, but elves from another dimension, this actually serves to make them even scarier. It humanizes them enough to give their threat more weight. Their skeletal armor is meant to strike fear in those they invade, and is possibly symbolic of the Aen Elle's own fall from grace. For we typically see elves of a noble kind, not at all fitting the intimidating appearance of the Red Riders.
I'm sure I didn't bring up any world-rocking new insights about Eredin or the Wild Hunt, but I just wanted to throw it out there that for what it's worth, Eredin does exactly what CDProjekt wanted out of his character. I think he's an effective villain, even if his armor has more character than the elf wearing it.

Stop making excuses for bad game design, its a well known fact that towards the end of witcher 3 they had to rush the game due to constant delays. You can even see it toward the end off the main story telling, everything was just getting rushed. I hate seeing stupid comments like these that try to add some esoteric view to a character to a character that was never intended in the first place. Witcher 1 gave eredin beautiful exposition and came to geralt as his harbinger of justice and evil toward the end of the game. He showed geralt there is no black and white choice, there always has to be a sacrifice despite what the player may think. Your comment is essentially saying “blah never talks because force of nature and evil, doesnt need to” well than might as well apply that dumb rationality to every underdeveloped character in every underdeveloped game.

I was disappointed with this boss fight. Irmeleth was a lot harder. I played on the difficulty before death march and it took me over a day to get lucky enough to evade all of his rapid teleports but killed eradin on the first try. He didn't have the teleport mechanics that made it difficult.
Which made no sense because irmeleth was a general and eredin is the king of the wild hunt. Should have been reversed.
***** To be honest, I didn't think any of the wild hunt generals were particularly hard. I beat the game on Death March and killed Imlerith and Eredin on my first try and Caranthir on my second. Superior White Raffard's Decoction was a godsend!!! I found some of those Witcher Contracts to be WAAAYYYY harder...lol

First try on death march i got him down to literally zero health and the 2nd portal that takes you back to the ship wouldnt let me through, i just got bombed by all the blue shit n couldnt see anything, was well dissappointed but got it done 2nd time.

I wanted to keep it, because I thought it was important (when I got it, it thought it would be an awesome sword), but unfortunately, it's for lvl < 25. Didn't use it even once.
Man when he got him the eye and then stands there all cool, that was a moment I'll remember from this game. Also for those complaining, this is on a very easy difficulty. On Death March one of Eredin's blows will take maybe 20% of his health away.
The most underwhelming part about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the actual WIld Hunt.
Love the voice actor, he's done some remarkable work (not just in this game, but plenty of other media)
The choreography of Geralt's maiming stroke was amazing.
You can see the gears turning in Eredin's head as he shifts his guard from right to left, but still a few fractions of a second after Geralt.

Crach has all sorts of exceptional weapons, I doubt he took a lumberjack's ax with him against the Wild Hunt.
Sometimes I open this video just to hear eredin's voice lol same with kaer morhen battle ending.
I played it on the hardest difficulty and I really think he should do more damage. His magic was too easy to evade and the only problem was his teleport + fast attacks. But because he did practicly no damage with it, it was easy to heal it with Quen. They should boost his damage in next patch at least, the previous one (elven mage with staff, idk the name) was much harder.

@@fleuttre4510 I fought him on death march yesterday. I was level 34 and he was one of the easiest bosses in the game aside from some of the witcher contracts I did later on in my playthrough. Hell, the basic enemies I fought leading up to him did more damage per hit, being about a third of my health because, you know, death march. And I cant speak to the damage of his magic attacks, because none of them ever got close to hitting me. They are all exceptionally easy to dodge, and even if you are having trouble getting close to Eredin to hit him, you can just throw a dancing star at him, or one of the other bombs he is weak to. I can only assume that you rushed the main story and were super under leveled in the fight, because anybody with a decent amount of levels, and a passing knowledge of how counterattacks work can beat this boss.
First time I played this I figured something out, but now I'm playing on Broken Bones and he kills me with that magic attack. He's doing no damage to you at all. Was this on normal?

Eredin reminds me a lot to Dal Gurak from "Blade:The Edge of Darkness" (Also known as "Severance: Blade of Darkness", 2001), even his moves are the same.

Boss does no damage. Is this Easy difficulty?
I did Eredin on my first try, staying at almost full HP without using any healing potions. He was just easy. His ranged attacks were very easy to dodge and his normal attacks were again easy, I just pressed alt when he started his combo, got behind him and attacked or I just waited for him to strike his heavy attack and stopped it with a quick one. It took me like 5-10 mins to beat him, but I took almost no damage. Oh and the Quen sign really helps if someone's struggling at this boss.
I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the guys actually modeled the fact that Eredin has no canine teeth, as Elves in the Witcher don't have canines like humans, just a bunch of small squared teeth. May be looking into it too much but I noticed it and was kinda wowed at the minute detail there.

Just a question, what level were you and what difficulty was it at? Also what was the damage of your sword. I was 32 with a 30 sword and was doing like 120 at most with criticals and 80 with normal hits. It wasn't hard at all imo even with tiny slivers of damage. I even went back and equipped lower level armor I had so I would actually take considerable damage. Just wondering because it seemed so much easier for you damage wise

I think Eredin is a really cool character and I wish there was more content om him and the Hunt in the game.
Maybe Eredins other sword is silver? And thats why he doesnt go for it
Geralt is cool af, but god damn. Eredin and his gang are so freaking badass. Eredins masked voice is sooo perfect for a villain. Armor cool af as well.
Toad Prince alone in Heart and Stone expansion is already enough to put the whole Wild Hunt to shame

To people saying he's easy: He's not fucking easy. This guy played this on Normal difficulty at the highest. Try fighting this boss on Death March. Then you can try and call him and easy boss.
I just finished on Death March and have to say, indeed, that he is not that hard. I found Imlerith a good bit harder because he has a slightly bigger melee attack range. Also, Imlerith's attacks take half of your health bar if you get hit - compare that to Eredin. The only thing Eredin has is an incredibly large health pool, which won't get him very far. (In my opinion though, the hardest boss in the game is the werewolf in one of the low-level quests when you're level 5. That may be partly because you don't know the battle mechanics well enough then, but still.) The performance of this player in the video though is complete trash.
I completely agree. Imlerith was a bitch to beat. I think people are saying this boss is easy because this player in the video played like complete trash.

Le Fromage Eredin was very easy for me on Death March. Didn't need any healing or Quen. I have used mastercrafted Ursine set.
