Hi. I'm aware there are mistakes in this video. I'm aware I'm not playing the game particularly well, and I'm aware that I should have used decoctions and such to make some of these encounters easier. I got very attached to my playstyle and stuck with it. I also played the game multiple times for this video and wanted to make the process less arduous. This all seems to have angered and belittled this video's enjoyment for a lot of people. I apologise for this. Since the creation of this video I have played snippets of the game with decoctions. I would not change very many of the ranking positions in this video regardless. I still had a lot of fun making this video, but for now I think I'm done responding to comments. A lot of them aren't very nice due to the mistakes I've made. If you desperately want me to respond to something you can contact me elsewhere. I hope this video was still enjoyable and I hope you're all keeping safe amongst Covid-19.
The toad is one of those bosses that makes me open the inventory and look for useful things, and it has a potion that turns all the poison damage into a cure and made the fight much easier
@@luislocks7078 Yeah, more than plenty of people pointed out the golden oriole. Admittedly, I feel pretty bad that I made this video neglecting so many useful decoctions. I just really enjoyed this game and wanted to make something somewhat unique. I wasn't expecting so many people to actually be that upset about some of this stuff.
Don't worry about it, I'm here to see other people's experiences with the game, not to get mine confirmed. Didn't even watch the vid yet but just wanted to clarify that in advance xD
I love that if you play the game properly (more akin to Geralt's morals) you wont encounter like 30% of those characters as bosses but as creatures you help.
True. And does he plays on Easy. He says they make a lot of damage and they do like 1/25. When I say they make a lot of damage they take at least1/3 of my life
@@vincentbokern5658 With right build you can do that even on Death March with upscaling on. Alchemy with some combat skills is beyond strong, add Euphoria to that and here you go ( even pre BaW dlc mutation builds that have Euphoria in mind are silly ).
@@jakubgauszczynski7790 I played the whole game on Death March with a basically random build. Tbh, wouldn't have been able to do that without the Next-Gen update which made Aard pretty OP with 1 single ability. Coupled with grandmaster griffin armor later on and it's ggs for everything. Fought all the Olgierd clones in the nightmare at the same time too. Just kept slowly going away and spamming Aard/Yrden for % damage till they all died. Was pretty cool to finish them all off at the same time with basic attacks near the end. Took a few tries.
It’s a game there’s no way to play properly. You play it how it’s fun. I play the game “as you’re meant to” because it’s fun to me but others like being psychopaths which is also fun

Maaaaaan. I got the game one week ago. I had no resources( food etc) cause I thought it would be a simple mission: find the (most probably) dead wife, maybe fight some wolves, the end. I had to lower the difficulty to get past that werewolve. Shit was frustrating.
bill kevin I just reloaded the save and came back later when I had cursed oil and enchanted swallow but fighting him when your a low level is near enough impossible
Yes! She's such a sweet lady too. I found a letter from her father at the side of her house on a bench, saying that the family moved to another town and that they'll keep sending someone once a year to check on her in the hopes that someone will lift the curse. I was hoping Geralt could tell her that but unfortunately there was no such option. It would be cool if she could be reunited with her family in her final days.

Detlaff: 3 tries, very last boss I fought Olgierd : 3 tries too, cheesed him with the invincible rolls and Quen FROG LORD : at least 20 tries with long breaks and a depression
It's literally a worse version of Red Dead Redemption. No idea why this game gets so much praise. It's a C+ on a good day, at best. D+ if you consider it really doesn't hold up on multiple playthroughs.
Dettlaff was definitely the most difficult for me. Idk if it changed with updates, but in the flying phase the bats oneshot you even with quen active. Second was Iris's greatest fear. Neither regular Olgierd nor the frog were anywhere as difficult.
Active shield with the sign intensity boost that comes from a 3 decotion power euphoria tanks the bat attack, albeit only barely. Standard quen is useless cause its a coded as a multi hit attack
detlaff is one of those bosses that i had to tried many times to beat it. but its bats is pretty easy though, just run the opposite direction and slightly side right and his bats wont bother you
When he does this bats attack you just need to sprint either right or left and that's all. I thought bosses in Witcher 3 were hard untill I played Elden Ring
Nah dude it’s those STUPID statues that come to life in that quest from blood and wine where you recreate some damn ritual. I literally couldn’t kill them I had to lower the difficulty
Haha yeah that was painful, but I found out that you could just go up to where the guy was hiding in the house, they wont follow up there so I picked them of one at the time😅 But damn.. it took me a while before I found that out.. many insta deaths!
Oh shit I forgot about that. I think they killed me 3 or 4 times before I figured out WHO was killing me and managed to take them out first. Not looking forward to that area on my Death March run.
@@Sarokuthix yea they are nearly impossible in death march. They all can one shot you and have to dodge the instant magic attacks with insane attack speed of the 3 mages.
My thoughts exactly. It's a shame a lot of players don't give attention to bombs and decoctions. They make the gameplay so much better imo. There are a ton of other useful bombs. Etc, north wind on those fast hard to hit monsters etc.
@@Pyllymysli It's probably because of how other games present them. I have a natural urge to not use any consumables or items, like potions or bombs, because in other games they're a waste of time. In this game, it basically forces you to do it on some enemies, which can be very difficult to figure out on your own. I like that they replenish once you meditate, however that natural urge just stops me from using them altogether.
the elven statuesi just use nothern wind and whirl the fuck outta them, i did died once because it caught me off guard, and with death march and ghost mod on i died in 2 hit
I personally found Detlaff the hardest boss fight, I needed many tries. Olgierd comes right behind him. Toad Prince, Iris and Caretaker weren't that hard for me.
@@rangatang5548 if you build Gerald properly (depend on your play style) every fight is easy even on DR and, depend on your LvL, very short or long. With high crit chance and dmg build with short attack i can kill oponents up to 15 lvl above my character with relativ easy. Just dont get hit because armor not gonna help but you can kill oponent with max 10 hits. Sign focus build is also good but not for my taste. Bombs and crosbow build are litte mem but it works espactly rly fun on standard defecaulty. Pure swordsman is not bad and you be more memy fitghing on horse as much as you can.
For some reason I breezed through olgierd on story and sword, tho got my ass handed to me multiple times by road prince, olgierd does a string of attacks and then you can parry is red attack and deal double damage then repeat, probably alot harder on higher difficulties tho
The toad prince was the hardest boss in the game to me by multiple points. I had some other fights that took some time and practice and learning, but that damn Toad handed me my ass relentlessly and I felt like I was getting no where and learning nothing every time
Olgierd was by far the hardest for me because my gameplay style was not suited for parry bosses and for that Olgierd kicked the shit out of me on the last fight. When I fought detlaff I found him the most enthusiasm figth of all bosses but not really hard ( maybe the experience I had at that point made a huge difference since I was already at level 75+)
I wonder if that was the Golem in the northeast if Velen? I stumbled on him last night on a random hill, only about 3 levels above me but damn was he hard as nails. Beat him easy but took 10 minutes to wear his health down.
4. Overleveled random encounters 3. Soldiers/city guards while provoked, since they're all overleveled and will 1hko you unless you've a god-tier heavy armor build 2. Rats in "A Toweful of Mice" quest WITH ENEMY UPSCALING TURNED ON 1. Falling damage from >2m jump. You literally can't fight this, it just exists.
Honestly, i agree with everything, but you missed the hardest i went up against. The elven statues during the cosplay fight. Those mages rocked my world. I died most against them. Then the ofieri mage, then the toad, and detlaff. I somehow skipped olgierd, or beat him so fast i forgot it.
I Had forgotten about the elven statues, i think those could be #1, the Ofieri mage was extremely hard for me because i didnt use any armor or anything, and i didnt wanted to use potions or bombs because it didnt made sense with the history, Also you dont have to fight olgierd it depends on your choices, so it's more likely that you didnt fight him
jesus, i remember, just some calm ride on roach and then... Hmm, maybe i can help some guy in the need. Booom, 3 hours of desperate fight and some broken mice. Sweet memories.
@@Peto707 yeah that is what happened to me. No stress, let me help this guy. I am on the second difficulty, and smash most opponents. Detlaff took 2 tries. Those statues slaughtered me more then any other fight.

@@jethrobreek8340 he has a lot of health, that's true but it was not a difficult fight at all even on Deathmarch, just took a while. all you need to do is dodge his attacks
Tip for anyone having trouble with any of these....use the decoction that gives health when using abilities that use stamina. That way everytime you cast a sign (usually Quen for a lot of bosses) you gain a chunk of health. Another couple decoctions worth using are troll for constant health regeneration (albeit not a ton but in combination with the stamina->health decoction and decoction that returns 10% damage dealt as your health makes a difference) and the decoction that returns damage dealt as health. Using these 3 decoctions still leaves some toxicity for potions and can save you healing options throughout a long fight by avoiding attacks and continually recasting Quen or other signs while you regain your health. Sorry I cant remember all the names off the top of my head. Theres a skill in the alchemy tree first row that adds maximum toxicity for each level 1, 2, and 3 alchemy formula you have. Which means if you make buying "turn out pages" (decoction formula) and finding potion formula's a priority, mid to late game you will have a maximum toxicity around 250. Don't sleep on alchemy...its just as important to being a great witcher (esp on higher difficulty) as weapons and armor are. I appreciate the time and effort that went into recapping so many bosses in such a great game! Thanks Cosmicborne!
the decoction is Ekhidna, you can also use Ekkimara which increases health upon successful hits. For the third decoction I'd suggest Arachas, lose your inventory weight and put on a heavy armour. use euphoria mutation and you're set. you should also use the alchemy skill where the right kind of oil gives you damage reduction against the enemy you're fighting. you don't really have to rely on quen or cheese with ursine armour if you do all these on ng+.
Started playing NG+, found 4 decoction very useful - 1. Which activites quen if single strike take more than a 3rd of you health 2. A portion of Damage is reflected on the attacker. 3. Successful dmg heals you 4. Increase critical hit chance. For poison type enemies, use golder oracle potion for healing, which works with your own poision bombs .. dmg you enemies while heals you. Pretty cool tactics.. 😁
@@yogeshmishra261 relievers decoction if against wraiths and griffin decoction which increases your resistances the longer the fight goes, as well as ancient leshen decoction that increases you stamina generation everytime you cast a sign are all very powerful, especially since fights may take a bit longer on death march with enemy upscaling active
@Ifaj Adgs yup. I think they messed up a little with that animation of O'Dimm being thrown away, screaming like he died or whatever. Or maybe they wanted the player to think he's dead. Probably the case. But the brilliant part of this character is, he is stupidly powerful, I mean he can stop time, even if there's something million times more powerful than him, but can't control time, O'Dimm will win every time. He could kill literally everyone, without any effort, Geralt is literally nothing to O'Dimm, he could kill Geralt on a whim, but he doesn't, why? Because what's the point? Imagine playing an RPG game, you kill everyone on your way, it's fun for 5 minutes, but then you realize, there's no NPC's, dialogues, quests etc. It's pretty much the same for an omnipotent being that O'Dimm is. And also, from the game it seems like the only way he can harvest souls is by finishing the "contract", which I guess is his main goal. Maybe souls keep his youth (assuming he is aging at all) or maybe he uses it for something way above our imagination. Who knows. Whatever, it's just a great character, and DLC perfectly portrayed his power, without any crazy, over the top shenanigans.
he was hardest for me on normal, when I reran the game on death march he seemed to be pretty easy. Hardest were the spiders beneath the witch's hill in blood and wine, they were killing me in 3 hits, and there are so many of them
figured that out half way through my first run through and god does that make the fight better. I would end up running off to stand in the poison to heal
I believe Detlaff took me like 19 tries and a nervous breakdown. Those bats used to one shot you through Quen (don't know if it was a bug or they nerfed it)...
They one shot me too in dm with grandmaster ursine, just run away from him when he starts charging them, roll to the side with correct timing and it becomes a piece of cake.
Just fought her yesterday. She healed to max once because I didn't know what the paintings did, the second time I got between her and the paintings and just kept hitting her with superior specter oil while she tried to get past me.
Here’s my list: 5. Frog prince - didn’t die a single time, but I exhausted all arsenal on this guys and was close to dying 4. Detlaff - he was alright, predictable enough. 3. Olgierd - real one in front of the burning mansion. Man that one was a couple of loading screens. 2. Olgierd shadow fear - this drove me mad, so many loads. . . . . . . 1. Fistfight with 3 skelligans in Novigrad brothel - that shit was hard, they clock you out in 2 hits. I think I never beat them and just gave up.

@@ScruffMcGruff86 The Yrden projectile upgrade was my saving grace in death March. I relied on that and Quen almost the entire game. Projectile yrden, regular yrden around that, quen saved my life
Or you did realize how good alchemy is... and are now using this opportunity to tell everyone else about it. I was a bit surprised when he mentioned toad prince that high too, since golden oriole literally made it so he healed you... But yes... My strong attack/alchemy/oils build absolutely trivialized every single fight on death march. I had a bit of an advantage though playing the series since the first game... alchemy has always been incredibly useful.
Detlaff took me so many tries but I was glad. They made higher vampjres out to be such immense, unkillable creatures. Would have been dissapointing had it been easy.
I was playing Hearts of Stone and I spent more than 20 minutes whittling down the toads health and then when the ending cinematic played my game crashed and I had to restart the fight.

Worst feeling in the world. I remember killing it after around 4 attempts, but the cutscene froze and I had no idea what the fuck happened. This happened with various other fights. So annoying.
Stay calm and wait for their life bar to flash red. When their fist comes, press left trigger to parry. It can be tough, especially if the enemy is a little douche and likes to jab a lot. Also you can't spam Quen so that threw me off at first. Also don't just go nuts attacking. The enemy will just turtle up and block most times. VERY importantly, when you are landing shots, only get in 3 punches at a time. The enemy will automatically counter the 4th and do this irritating stun attack on Geralt. It's bullshit. Just try to breathe and if all else fails do like the other guy said and hold left trigger to just block everything until the enemy does something stupid.
fist fight is easy you just counter attack, dodge away, counter attack, dodge away and repeat. this way he will not do a single fast punch. only strong punches which are really easy to block
How Olgierd fights is V reminiscent of how Vilgefortz fights Geralt in Time of Contempt. Incredibly quick and agile, teleporting to where Geralt is and decimating him quite quickly.
He was literally the only enemy in the entire game that gave me any trouble. All of his attacks completely penetrate my armor. Its the only enemy in the game that does that and i wasnt prepared whatsoever.
I liked the Eredin fight. It wasn't the toughest, and I agree with your ranking, but I liked the way he teleports around you and you have to dodge in circles around him. It made me feel like I was really playing someone with superhuman agility and reflexes. I also like that after so much buildup and fear, in the end he's a powerful leader but he's just a guy with a big plan that went wrong.
I totally agree with you!! It felt like an epic battle between two amazing swordsman going at it. Kinda wish he didn't teleport behind me like a little bitch though lol
In the end, Eredin is just another elf with a few magic abilities and enchanted armour. Otherwise (and lorewise!), he's no different to any Scoia'tael you might encounter. Yes, all the Aen Elle look taller, broader, and have more defined cheekbones than the Aen Seidhe. But they are one race, only separated by living in two different worlds for a few centuries.
On ng+ death march he can literally one shot you. Then he actually feels like a final boss which takes multiple tries to beat. I'm not a fan of how the upscaled bosses in ng+ are only made harder by being able to insta kill you, but at least they are more challenging.
>Detlaff First time I played TW3 he seemed hard, but really he is garbage. His only ability which can kill you is easy to evade, you just have to outrun it. (And you have to outrun it only like twice or thrice)
Detlaff WRECKED MY SHIT SO HARD. I played the game and slid straight clean till I blazed the last few missions like fk it imma kill him. All was alright till he said "if you have any gods start praying" and transforms. Holy fuck. On my second play through after years and didn't finish first time because of that bastard
Well if you play in march with upscale leveling activated in your second playtrough and you are near lvl 99 igri's nightmare is a real nightmare to fight since the tiniest error causes you to get one shoted even with quen activated, also they high a ridiculous amount of HP compared to other difficulties, even with oils it took near 10-15 well placed strokes to kill each one of them.
@@PaperadiGomma123 the fact that you can prepare for specific fights a d learn how to beat each enemy and there are many enemies like that, makes this game a piece of art. I have over 200 hours in it and after i finished it i started a new game and all i do is contracts
@@cosmin2410 Its not a piece of art at all. Its essentially helping hand if you suck and cannot beat the things with only 6 buttons : 1) W,A,S,D for movement 2) left mouse button (light attack) 3) alt (dodge) - these are all you need, if you want to be REALLY sure about your victory then Quen is there for immortality and enemies dont stand a chance The only thing other than gravity that killed me is Dettlaff's bat attack because I just sucked and couldnt find the correct timing and it always oneshot me. Other than that this game is too easy. Fights are about repetition of OP moves, about patience of performing the same thing for a while regardless of what the monster is and what the monster is doing because dodge + light attack takes care of everything.

The toughest for me was detlaff stage 2. I usually could just abuse quen, but when he shot bats at you, he’d eat through that and more. I had a really hard time dodging it. Weirdly enough, I beat stage 2 on the first try but died on stage 3 because I used every healing potion I had in stage 2. After reloading my save, it took me about 15 tries to beat stage 2 again. I finally figured out how to fairly consistently dodge the bat attack. That was a really tough fight. I never fought Olgierd though so idk how I would’ve done with that one
Well, the funny thing about Yen is, that she is very independent woman and in most cases she's right. She knows and understands more than Geralt, because she is way more powerful being. I think that's what makes many gamers and readers hate her. It's not usual to the love interest be more powerful, knowledgeable and indepedent than the male protagonist. But she is just that - one of the more powerful witches with quite good sense of what's going on when it comes to Continent's politics.

The regular fights in the game are hard because of the horrible Melee combat. The contact frame syncing is all over the place. The only way to get a consistent melee combat experience is to only attack once, backstep away, and repeat. Otherwise you risk Geralt's stupid ballerina shit taking a few frames too long, which lets basic bitch enemies get a swipe in. Which wouldn't be a problem, but the contact frames are not consistent. One combo could take 300ms to complete, and the same input timing, the next combo could take 440ms to complete. (both 3 hits). This game has literally got the worst melee combat of a AAA release I've ever seen. inb4 Git Gud, I've literally got Dark Souls III fight videos, and play Mordhau competitively, lol.
I was playing on death march like the whole game and almost nothing was actually genuinely hard. Kind of a let down. I had played bloodborne soon before so that’s probably why
The first time i fought the Ofieri Mage it took me about 3 hours to defeat him because I was on death march and didn't realize I could put my armour on (after the ship crashes you wake up with only your swords equipped, I thought I had to get the rest of my stuff back by defeating him lol)
Veto literally same, after the fight finished, I looked in my inventory and saw that stupid Armor, thinking why would I even have it if I was held hostage
I had similar troubles as well, and for whatever reason, I just beat him with quen, my swords, and no armour on, and just thought "Oh it probably appeared in my inventory after I killed him" kind of thing, and just... What the fuck?
I actually noticed I had my gear while still trying to defeat him. Still didn't equip it before killing him though, it didn't make any sense to have the gear on me so I just pretended that I didn't haha.
Did him today on DM on my first playthrough and I did it withour armour xD died twice, but found out he will use his spells on the warriors so used him to get rid of the warriors, then just dodged and slashed him light attacks.. pretty easy imo
The hardest boss in the entire game is the feeling you have when you finish the game for the first time, with Regis by the fire. Shit stuck with me for days. Masterpiece of a game.
Friend of mine almost cried to me, that Imlerith is too hard and unfair, I was just smiling and thinking about Detlaff, Olgried and Toad prince in the sewers. I bet he will have a mental breakdown.. :)
Imrelith is hard and unfair if you don't know how to dodge (not roll) and get greedy by trying to sneak in too many attacks which is a recipe for disaster for almost any game. He has one of the most predictable movesets imo
You never have to use Yrden against them if you use a moondust bomb. Literally the easiest enemies in the game once you craft it. Wraiths used to be my most hated too until moondust bombs.
@@jeremycelis6898 well in ng+ she is just sooooooo OP she heals max health in like 2 sec I had to upgrade my Aard to destroy the mirrors at the same time it was PAIN
To anyone that has tried the first Detlaff encounter, but actually winning, you know true pain. You know what if feels like to watch a 6 hour cutscene every time he one shots you for making a minor mistake.
I've now played the mainstory and DLC's a few times on death march. The first time Detlaff seemed by far the hardest, one hitting you trough Quen with Grandmaster Ursine and like 5 Quen enchantments, but he isn't hard anymore. You can dodge all his abilities and with skill and training beat him every time. Frog Prince has attacks that are sometimes completely impossible to dodge, he has AOE that is very hard to counter but ultimately can be defeated quite easily with Igni and Bleed. Olgierd was probably the hardest. Just like Dettlaff you can avoid all his abilities, but every attack of his is almost a 1hit and the red saber is always a 1 hit no matter what. It took me by far the longest to do the last time I did it.
@@lehtokurppa7824 Olgierd was a tricky one at first but It's easier than people think. You can actually counter his red saber and if you do he will be stunned for a couple seconds giving you an opening for attacks.

Me too, in march those freekin wolves around him consume half my life, and the fact that niellen heals himslef was pretty annoying too. Almost 20 tries before killing him
Detlaff second phase and the Toad Prince were the hardest for me. The first time I stumbled into a Hanse base was also quite challenging, because their level was 10+ higher than mine.
@@Cosmicborne I think the length could've been shortened by combining all the bosses that were reskins of one another into a single entry, except for the ones that did something a bit different (like Iris).
So many of these boss fights never happened for me, because I always tried for non-lethal options. Then there are another few boss fights that didn't happen because of choices (for example King Radovid). Just goes to show how big the world is in The Witcher 3. You definitely need multiple playthroughs to experience this amazing game to the fullest!
Ng+ on legendary i litteraly tried more than 50 time cause of the orb who 2 shot you btw the sucub on legendary is really hard its a one shot if your not fast enougth
When I did my DM playthrough, I had like 4 deaths on him. It's not overly difficult to get to his 3 phase but I get greedy and try to sneak in 2 hits on his back instead of one bcz him health just drops so slowly
I cant understand it. I found him pitifully easy even on death march while under leveled. Eredin was average but he has cool tricks. Imlerith in every fight ive had with him including a common item only run he only teleports outside just heavy attacks
well you can’t actually kill Gaunter O’dimm, he said that himself, he can only be defeated, someone before Geralt has already beaten him in his own game, and he didn’t die, because you can’t kill the devil himself (well he’s kind of a mix between God and satan but i think you get the point)
When it comes to the bosses; I had trouble with Toad Prince the most. When it comes to 'normal' battles, those enemies in the quest 'extreme cosplay' are the most difficult in the game (without glitch/exploits).
Been playing this since 2015 and still do a play through every few months. I now enjoy doing boss fights and contracts way above my level. There’s a lot of added challenge in getting one shot and large boss health pools
Such as Vesemir told to Ciri: "When you fight a beast, your knowledge counts much than your silver sword!" Using oils, potions and tactics help you to fight much easier in higher difficaulty levels too. I loved the variability in skill tree and there are at least 5 significantly different possibilities in fightingstyle with almost the same effectiveness. Please, try them! ;)
I have managed to kill Toad Prince on the first try probably thanks to carefully listening to what Geralt and others are saying - it uses poison and seems like it was cursed. Superior Golden Oriole, proper oil and suddenly it's not as bad.
i did that just today. here now, take 8 high level enemies that swarm you, block your movements and stagger you to death, ahh btw 2 of them are sorceresses that cast firaball at you and teleport, the rest of them use spear so no use parrying
This list is cleary made without having magic builds in mind, a lot of the "Harder bosses" were so much easier just because I ran an full on igni build and was able to burn most bosses to death. but damn wraiths and golem/elementals though, those things are immune to fire.
Yeah, my magic build made Imelerith / Olegierd fights a joke. Imelerith took forever to kill because I couldn't really deal a ton of damage, but he rarely ever hit me, and the times he did, I could just heal back up real quick.
and without any alchemy builds in mind. i didnt notice a single clip in which he had a decoction active, something like the ekimmara decoction can provide almost as much healing as the gourmet perk.
Try Quen Shield upgraded enough that when the Shield is damaged you get healed. Only a boss (or Death March enemies) can kill you when you're in one after that. I'm not even mentioning how much I abused Axii's temporary friendly fire system and they're scaled so much they kill their own buddies in 3 hits. A common bandit could kill Dettlaff in 5 hits if he's scaled, is Axii'd (and if they ever put Dettlaff in an arena with a normal human being).
Every gank based fight should get a huge up on this list when fighting on Death March. Big enemies are always easy as long as you can dodge. But on Death March, the harder it is to dodge, the harder the fight. That's cause every enemy has insane damage.
I am having the same experience, olgierd is not that hard in my opinion I first try him despite stopped playing the game for months, while the caretaker on the other hand...
I played this game on Death March without a HUD and with the default white orchard armor you get when you start the game. Difficulty in this game has nothing to do with armor, it all has to do with your damage input and the player skill. The reason I love this game so much is because the more you play, the more you actually feel like a Witcher.
You played the entire game without getting hit. Cause at death March and armor that is 1 I'm sure you'll die to like even a wolf at that point. How was it?
That sounds painfully pointless on so many levels. Why handicap yourself for the sake of masochism? I just play the game the way its meant to be played, using alchemy, oils, and Ursine/undvik armor to trivialize every enemy in game.
This is how I got "When It's Many Against One..." achievement (Provoke all Iris von Everec's Nightmares into fighting you at the same time and defeat them) on a Death March with Enemy Upscaling: WEAPON The Caretaker's spade (shovel) - 10% lifesteal DECOCTIONS Ekimmara Decoction - 10% lifesteal Chort Decoction - stagger resist for uninterrupted whirl POTIONS Superior Thunderbolt Superior Blizzard - first shadow dies fast; stamina doesn't deplete for sustained whirl; shadows slow down while you remain fast Superior White Raffard's Decoction - 3 seconds of invincibility to tank initial burst and get whirl heals rolling SKILLS (MUST HAVE) Whirl Acquired Tolerance OPTIONAL Anything that improves fast attack damage, crit chance/damage, and survivability. I had grandmaster wolven gear with Euphoria mutagen. Ursine would be better, but didn't have it. MISC The Professor's spectacles P.S. Consider using Yrden and Superior Golden Oriole for frog prince. Also, you can Aard Dettlaff like draconids during leap attack. P.S.S. Try out Invigoration with Active Shield healing. Absorb normal mob's heavy attack, or bosses light attack, and counter with boosted heavy. Thanks for the video.
Honestly? Just use enhanced/superior dancing star, the whirlwind. On deathmarch, I got roughly 95% of their health that way with 2 guys left over the 4 bombs I had, and they were much easier to deal with
I LOVE the Caretaker. Such a good bossfight to me. I legit droped a save before fighting him so I can always load it and fight him again whenever I want.
"If you can keep this sheep alive you're a god among men." Well- I managed that by simply pulling away from the sheep and rushing towards the forktail. After I killed him, the sheep wouldn't stop following me and I didn't want it to die from something else so I legit had to fast travel to get away. The little guy adored me even after I brought it back to the village.
Here's a tip for fighting Carathir. The best way to deal with his ice elementals is to...not attack them. Just position yourself so that they're between you and Caranthir, and Caranthir will be kind enough to friendly-fire them for you. Actually, the fight with Carantir is one of my favourite boss fights in the game, although that's likely partially because I'm bad. I died a lot of times when fighting him, but pretty much every time, I could see the mistake I made which caused me to lose. I've never played Dark Souls (and I'm pretty sure it's harder than pretty much anything in The Witcher 3), but I'd think that's what's meant by "hard but fair". Also, here's a semi-exploit that can help you with Dettlaff. There's a decoction (I forget what it's called) that increases your maximum health with each enemy killed until you meditate or fast-travel. You probably want to drink that anyway in the Land of a Thousand Fables with the number of pixies you'll be fighting there. If you're like me, you'll reach the fight with Dettlaff with just a bit of time left before the decoction wears off, likely not long enough to last you the fight. However, at the start of the fight, you get all your alchemy items replenished as if you'd meditated, without actually counting as meditating. This means you can drink the decoction again, thus keeping your greatly-increased maximum health for the whole fight. Dettlaff's bat attck would still one-shot me on Death March though, even with Quen up.
Same, playing with this disgusting Alchemy Ng+ Dm myself, it's legit stupidly op. In my first playthrough without alch etc i had quite the hard time with Detlaff, but the ofiri mage was so fuckn annoying on NG+ Never killed that bochling! #savebochlings
55:00 "This fight feels uncharacteristically difficult." That's because even on multiple playthroughs, you're not exploring everything you can do on the game. Golden Oriole potion makes any poison enemies a joke, and CDPR is assuming you've at least done some work upgrading potions other than Swallow.

Active shield with the sign intensity boost that comes from a 3 decotion power euphoria tanks the bat attack, albeit only barely. Standard quen is useless cause its a coded as a multi hit attack

@@Pyllymysli It's probably because of how other games present them. I have a natural urge to not use any consumables or items, like potions or bombs, because in other games they're a waste of time. i did detlaff like 3rd try didnt seem to hard for some reasom, i played on blood and broken bones and i think death march would of been a lot better
@@rangatang5548 if you build Gerald properly (depend on your play style) every fight is easy even on DR and, depend on your LvL, very short or long. Just dont get hit because armor not gonna help but you can kill oponent with max 10 hits. Sign focus build is also good but not for my taste.
Hardest fight I had in the entire game was with a random Golem guarding a hidden treasure in the second DLC.
I know exactly the one you're talking about. I just allowed my zappy Yrden trap to take him down after like 5 minutes.
Generally I find any situation in a cramped space tricky.
@ grandmaster Griffin gear makes everything so easy and how OP yrden is. Plus the 2 signs for 1 stamina bar.

Started playing NG+, found 4 decoction very useful -
1. Which activites quen if single strike take more than a 3rd of you health
2. A portion of Damage is reflected on the attacker.
3. Successful dmg heals you
4. Increase critical hit chance.
For poison type enemies, use golder oracle potion for healing, which works with your own poision bombs .. dmg you enemies while heals you. Pretty cool tactics.. 😁

1. Fistfight with 3 skelligans in Novigrad brothel - that shit was hard, they clock you out in 2 hits. I think I never beat them and just gave up.
Just use Axii on them man
fistfights against multiple enemies are the most annoying thing in the game. (on deathmarch at least)
Any fistfight indoors is a pain, i always loose to the two thugs in that gwent dealers house in Novigrad
No mention of the rats on “now or never”?
Or you could have helped hjalmar kill the giant so your name will be known and respected and the skelligers will acknowledge you....
Pretty sure you don't actually kill O'Dimm but just temporarily stop him.
Nope hes immortal and he cannot die he said it in a foreign language. He basically the Devil in this game or something worse and more powerful.
Funny how the strongest antagonist in the whole game is the easiest "boss fight"
You cant kill G.O.D
that you are correct. You can't kill him as he is immortal. He will return later.
He could also just say that for geralt to make a threat before dying or something , we can only assumne things
is anyone gonna tell him that bombs, oils, decotions, and upgraded potions exist?
ikr, i was pulling my hair at him complaining at alot of mechanics that can obviously be countered by consuming/using the right items. How can someone play this game for 100h+ and still don't know about this.
Yeah I was like of course it's hard you are not fighting smartly.
He's Low IQ
Also Igni, the stun animation when an enemy is lit on fire has saved my ass so many times.
@@ScruffMcGruff86 The Yrden projectile upgrade was my saving grace in death March. I relied on that and Quen almost the entire game. Projectile yrden, regular yrden around that, quen saved my life

I've never said "just use Yrden Magic Trap" so many times during a listicle.. (also.. the golden oriole and moon dust... hell yes)
Very true. Especially when he’s talking about the Bruxa turning invisible. Easily sorted with Moon Dust
Toad prince is nare a joke with superier golden oriole

Detlaff took me so many tries but I was glad. They made higher vampjres out to be such immense, unkillable creatures. Would have been dissapointing had it been easy.

Thats tufff broo
@@angelcarma5730 only lvl 7 and I've had good luck and prep time. Very witcher style scenarios 30hrs in two days of no sleep. I killed the light house wyvern by panicking and trying to climb down the ladder and tripping off it into the water. It followed me down and I drowned the bitch with crossbow like a cheesy asshole. I was prepped well but so not ready for the duel but didn't fight fair due to dummy luck. I didn't get the loot since underwater but I got the surprise griffin sword. I had two papers for the treasure hunt but not this one, fuck yeah.
5 mins later while sailing off continuing to oxenford, I hear the basilisk. Another first. It was level 14, mind you I'm still 7 but I have 5 grenades, two superior quality and a precision bolt with nice special named swords and the draconian sword. I chain made spam it and it takes an edge off it. It was rolling and writhing like hell, it comes for me. I threw on qwen and the duel insues while I have two deconcontions on for one extra item use and an emergency qwen when I get hit hard. I take it down attempt 6 since I was super tired from 2 hrs sleep in two days with exams and this game taking over
That fight was quite easy tho
I had more trouble with the Sand Mage
Worst feeling in the world. I remember killing it after around 4 attempts, but the cutscene froze and I had no idea what the fuck happened. This happened with various other fights. So annoying.
I've killed every villain, easy peasy. I've lost almost all fist fights
I know right? You cant roll around
Just hug Left trigger and do a Light Light Strong combo constantly after till they block again
Just parry and then go fast, fast, heavy
How Olgierd fights is V reminiscent of how Vilgefortz fights Geralt in Time of Contempt. Incredibly quick and agile, teleporting to where Geralt is and decimating him quite quickly.
Except olgierd gets his ass kicked
Except olgierd loses so clearly he mistook the stars reflected in a pond for those in the night sky
Golden oriole potion makes the toad a cakewalk. Definitely struggled a ton before I figured that out. Love the list!
He was literally the only enemy in the entire game that gave me any trouble. All of his attacks completely penetrate my armor. Its the only enemy in the game that does that and i wasnt prepared whatsoever.
really??? golden oriole wasn't there for me when the toad one shot me with its tongue (through quen)....
@hulladaemon Exactly. I owned him in no time by just using these bombs.
Igni sign on Sign build also performes overwhelmingly well
I died more times to gravity than any other boss
Isaac Newton, the worst boss ever 😂
Yep

true, there is no hard boss in witcher 3, dodge is op
@@twinmama42 Actually I believe that Eredin is just no match for Geralt, as Geralt is faster, quicker, better with a sword.
On ng+ death march he can literally one shot you. Then he actually feels like a final boss which takes multiple tries to beat. I'm not a fan of how the upscaled bosses in ng+ are only made harder by being able to insta kill you, but at least they are more challenging.
1:03:29 you can actually kill her broomstick while she is on land so the witch stays on land for the rest of the fight
Yeah, sadly I wasn't aware of that when I made this video a few years ago
Stealing this
Actually I found the First werewolf one of the hardest battles I ever foght in this game. For bosses I would say the frog and dettlaf the hardests
Yeah. Played him hugely underpowered and nearly bit off the tip of my to tongue out of sheer frustration. 😂
If you mean the one at the swamp... i just ran past him
>Detlaff
First time I played TW3 he seemed hard, but really he is garbage.
For me
1. Iris' nightmare olgried
2. Detlaff
3. Frog prince
All wraiths are pretty easy with Yrden and specter oil, I used superior spector oil and it was comparatively easy
First time against the frog i thought it was the toughest boss in the game, but if you use the potion that cancels poisoning it gets really easier
Andrés V it took me 2 hours. Then I used the crossbow strat n man it’s so worth it. Took me 20 minutes with it
The caretaker was a pain in the ass too

@@PaperadiGomma123 the fact that you can prepare for specific fights a d learn how to beat each enemy and there are many enemies like that, makes this game a piece of art. I have over 200 hours in it and after i finished it i started a new game and all i do is contracts
Aard and Quen was all I needed besides enhanced swallow and white rafford’s doctotion.
@@cosmin2410 Its not a piece of art at all. Its essentially helping hand if you suck and cannot beat the things with only 6 buttons :
1) W,A,S,D for movement
2) left mouse button (light attack)
3) alt (dodge)
- these are all you need, if you want to be REALLY sure about your victory then Quen is there for immortality and enemies dont stand a chance
The only thing other than gravity that killed me is Dettlaff's bat attack because I just sucked and couldnt find the correct timing and it always oneshot me.

Hardest fight in the game: "resisting the urge to tell Yen to Calm down"
Uuugh yes! Yen is so f*cking annoying 😭

1. Detlaff (by far :D)
2. Frog prince
3. Olgierd

I got gargoyle after one or two tries and I'm a new player... I'm one of the ones that didn't find him too difficult !!
That last DLC ending cutscene was the cherry on the cake, brilliant after 90 ranking bosses.
Such as Vesemir told to Ciri: "When you fight a beast, your knowledge counts much than your silver sword!"
Using oils, potions and tactics help you to fight much easier in higher difficaulty levels too.
The sorceresses in the extreme cosplay quest. That took me more tries than Detlaff, frog prince, Olgierd, or any other boss fight
It almost made me quit from playing this wonderful game
Is this the one where they are statues at first?

This list is cleary made without having magic builds in mind, a lot of the "Harder bosses" were so much easier just because I ran an full on igni build and was able to burn most bosses to death. but damn wraiths and golem/elementals though, those things are immune to fire.
Yeah, my magic build made Imelerith / Olegierd fights a joke. Imelerith took forever to kill because I couldn't really deal a ton of damage, but he rarely ever hit me, and the times he did, I could just heal back up real quick.
I made a lot of the bosses a joke with an aard build. Especially the gank bosses
and without any alchemy builds in mind. i didnt notice a single clip in which he had a decoction active, something like the ekimmara decoction can provide almost as much healing as the gourmet perk.
80% of bosses were either “annoying, impossible, boring reskins or long-ass fights” if you’re so bothered by so many of them then just don’t play ffs

Superior White Raffard's Decoction - 3 seconds of invincibility to tank initial burst and get whirl heals rolling
SKILLS (MUST HAVE)
Whirl
Acquired Tolerance
OPTIONAL
Anything that improves fast attack damage, crit chance/damage, and survivability.
I had grandmaster wolven gear with Euphoria mutagen. Ursine would be better, but didn't have it.
MISC
The Professor's spectacles
I got that the Achievement on accident cause I just triggered them all while dodging xd
Whirl is the shit
Honestly? Just use enhanced/superior dancing star, the whirlwind. On deathmarch, I got roughly 95% of their health that way with 2 guys left over the 4 bombs I had, and they were much easier to deal with
I agree with the botchling... I ultimately took the higher road and turned it into the ghost and just followed it. Still killed alot of wraiths.
Fun fact: The sheep is named Mia
What sheep?
The dragon (forktail) quest.
Great video! My only critcism would be that you forgot to include the Elven statues in Beauclair. That fight should arguably be in the top 3.
I chose to talk to the Unseen Vampire Elder, so I missed all 5 of the fairy tale bosses 😭
im redoing the whole game just for that mistake
Just redo the game, it has so many choices you can't finish everything in even 4 games
"I try to keep this video as short as I can"
ONE HOUR AND 19 MINUTES!
The game is hundreds of hours of content dude.
@@gabyn5091 I know. I love it. But still.
None of these were hard for my alchemy lvl100 NG+ DM build, but that TOAD was wicked.
And how dare you even try killing that bochling?
Always turn it into a luberkin.
Same, playing with this disgusting Alchemy Ng+ Dm myself, it's legit stupidly op. In my first playthrough without alch etc i had quite the hard time with Detlaff, but the ofiri mage was so fuckn annoying on NG+
Never killed that bochling! #savebochlings
Meta yeah, at one point it gets so OP so I had to make the build worse lol
@@quercingtime finished it today actually. missing one damn gwent card which i botched, fuckn Nekker card of all things -_-
Meta xD. I have all achievements. Starting a new game would be nice, but then my Skellige deck’ll be removed :/
Longlock: Too late, too late!
Geralt: ah, I wish I was on time, this bed just looks fine to us
Before I knew what levels meant, I took on the Bloody Baron's botchling in my level 1 Kaer Morhen gear. I must have died at least 10 times.
