@@rockluee37 Ciri 's flashbacks were the key points. First - after the Kaer Morhen battle, don't invite her to drink, instead select to play snowball fight. Then don't take her to/or take her to Emhyr but choose not to take coins ( this will lead she determine to become a Witcher/Empress ). Third is let her speak alone with 2 Sorceresses. Fourth is "Go for it" option in Avallach's labaratory and last - visit Skjall's grave with her. These are all the positive points Ciri has throughout the Game, she will survive and later became an Empress/Witcher. The point is letting Ciri decide for herself, don't be overprotective or make awkward choices, that leads to negative marks to Ciri's fate.

I got this ending while trying to make Ciri the empress. I worked with the emperor and believed I did everything right. But looking back on it I failed. I always told Ciri what to do, always held her hand and led her the way I wanted. It was always about what I wanted. Because of this she did not believe in herself, I had planted doubts in her mind which resulted in her not coming back from the storm. And I keep thinking back to our last moment. I didn't want her to risk her life stopping the storm, it was the crown I wanted for her, and as she chooses to go I am speechless and say nothing. I wanted to wish her luck, but I couldn't find the words thus I stood there in silence.
I played with the feelings of Triss and Yen... and drove them both away.
All I have are regrets and sadness as I walk the decaying castle of Kaer Morhen. I think about Ciri, Vesimir, the decline on the witchers. Everyone I cared for is gone, driven away and I am all alone. I never wanted it to end like this, yet it did.
This playthrough has been an eye-opening experience. I was very immersed in the story and the outcome was a perfect example that actions have consequenses. Allthough I meant well, I failed to realise what was most important. My egoistic way of thinking lead me to this ending. A beatiful and heart-wrenching experience and the best RPG I've played to this date.

I will post what I saw somewhere that pretty much describes the werewolf/Geralt situation at the end:
It is a metaphor for Geralt but it goes a little bit deeper than that. The fact that he finds himself in the company of a werewolf suggests that Geralt has come to realize that he has more in common with the monsters that he has sworn to destroy than the humans he has sworn to protect. The trapped Wolf symbolizes Geralt himself, ensnared and ultimately slain by those he holds dear.
The words spoken by the werewolf, "I used to dream wolf dreams, now I dream hunger, pain, and blood," shows Geralt's downward decline after failing to save Ciri. The man's words also show Geralt's emotional fall: "She's ragin', knows she's as good as dead but has yet to accept it." Geralt sees himself in the Wolf and that is why he strikes the man, as if to prove to himself that he's not as dead as he feels inside. He kills ten men to try to end his suffering, as if slaughter is the only thing that he knows. The werewolf tries to make him consider the cub, the monster expressing more morality than the man, but Geralt is bent on vengeance. All he can do is kill.
During the fight against the crone, Geralt tries to tell the werewolf to back away and not interfere because he hates the idea that he has common cause with one of his enemies. It forces him to realize even further what a monster he has become. It is truly a very harsh ending for a character (and the player who played him) who tried to make the right choices and failed doing the only thing that really mattered, which was making Ciri believe in herself. In the end, the wolf shows more humanity in his anxiety over the wolf cubs than Geralt show for the men he slays. He is one part monster, and one part man, but doesn't belong among either.
The only real victory exists in his acquiring of Ciri's pendant but it doesn't grant him the cathartic release that he requires, as evidenced by his final collapse into agony, head in hands, mourning the only daughter that he'll ever know...

    My feelings about the Ending
Here I am, devastated, the only word I can describe how tragic and bitter this ending left me.
Seeing a man with nothing left, and nothing inside. He had done so much, good and bad, in this unforgiving world. He figured he would do good when he could, but it turns out that his choices weren’t black and white and they hurt the one he cared and loved the most. What hurts more than seeing this very strong man, let himself get executed by the same creatures he hunted, was that it was all his fault. Maybe if he had done something different things would have changed. The only thing he could do now is to gather the last memento of his fallen family. He had done so much for the very same people who would turn their back on him. He wasn’t either a human, or a creature. The only ones he could turn to are a dying species, all the rest killed by the very same people they helped protect. He didn’t want the same for her, she was the only thing he had left, and his feeling or lack thereof was what made it certain she was gone. In the end, no witcher dies in his bed.
Now for my personal feelings about the matter. I spent a lot of time completing this game and I always strived to immerse myself. I figure Geralt was a mercenary and his main objective aside from his family would be his work, and no one better there was. Barely any gratitude for him risking his neck, but it was what he was best at. Underneath the veil of toughness and his nonchalant attitude, one of a hardened veteran, there was a veil of good intentions and kindness. At least I figure that is who he was based on the story around me, and I made choices accordingly. The dialogue was so extraordinary I actually did feel immersion and laugh at the wit and quip of the characters and world he interacted with. He had fought for those who couldn’t defend themselves and those of vast innocence as he judged the world not by appearances, race, or status but by their actions. When he finally found Ciri, he ( me ) could not stand to lose what was the only thing that gave me hope in such an unforgiving world. I swore I would always be by her side and help her whenever I could, I would remind her that she had a gift like no other, I did try to encourage her own actions and I agreed she could do her own thing. But I made the mistake of overprotecting her in the important crucial moments. Those that Ciri looked back on and did not let her grow, thus she didn’t believe in herself. That’s exactly what hit me the hardest, even after all Geralt ( I ) did and had thought was the right decisions, they left me with nothing but suffering.
In the end, It was all for nothing, whether Geralt tried to be a better person, kill kings or creatures, ask for money or humility, love someone simple or someone complicated. Ciri saved the world but what did Geralt do? He was just a Witcher. With all that said, I would be lying if it didn’t leave me depressed in some way. Few games have if any have left me in this state of emotions, and for that, I applaud the Witcher III and the Polish developers, for creating a media that stand above their peers in dialogue and world-building. I thank them for putting so much effort into their game and all the details (lots which will go unappreciated) they decided to implement. This game opened up a passion for the high fantasy lore (dragons, medieval times, etc) I did not know I needed. I won’t have as much time to indulge in replaying it, and while I wish I could have gotten a less bitter ending, I know it would have not impacted me as much.
    Thank you CD Projekt Red.

I only hope that now that they have their huge audience, like Bethesda gained with their first couple games, that they do not make concessions to the Left when they make their next game. I have a less than 50% hope that they ever do justice to furthering this IP tho...it isn't 2010, when they started development of this game, it is 2023, and forces just as evil as anything in this game are at work to destroy anything like this to ever be able to be made again. The Witcher on Netflix is probably a foreshadowing of what is to come...I hope I am wrong bc this isn't an American developer, but the hooks of the Left reach across the oceans, and infect everything just as The White Frost destroys worlds...

And let's be real: without a guide of some kind, it wouldn't be hard to do on your first playthrough, as only *one* of the choices is obvious (visiting Ciri's friend's grave with her).

A lot of games take different approaches to decide what ending the player should get. I've completed a lot of side missions in rdr2 cause I fell in love with the world of the game and it gave me a good ending. Thought it should work similarly here but it didn't. At some point, every side quest or contract was giving me only 3 to 5 points of experience (instead of 150-300). After that, I decided that I won't do any side missions at all.

You want a real worst ending ?
    - Take the Money and don´t look any further for the lost Sister (First Werewolf Quest)
    - kill the Botchling ("unborn" from the Bloody Baron")
    - Make Philip Strenger hang himself (Bloody Baron, free the Dark Spirit in the Trees / Muhmen Quest)
    - Send Keira Metz to Radovid (tell her it´s a "good" idea)
    - Don´t Help Triss Merigold or the other Mages
    - Make a sad play in the Theater (choose to play a Tragedy)
    - Get the "wrong" Murderer in Novigrad (let the Vampire life/asume it was Nathaniel in the Rittersporn Quest)
    - Let Cerys & Hjalmar die (don´t help them in their Quests, and after the massaker Ignore it)
    - Let Radovid be alive (don´t help Djikstra & the others)
    - Tell Yen "to go to Hell" , ok basicly u just say "I don´t love u" but u get the hang of the idea (Djin Quest)
    - Kill in both Succubus Witch Hunter Quests the "Ladys" (one in Novigrad, the other on Skellige)
    - Kill all Trolls in the Witch Hunter Quests or Normal Quests (basicly ever Troll who allows conversation)
    - Let Lambert die in Kaer Morhem (In Battle, if Vesimir advices u to help him, refuse, go elswhere killing Wild Hunt Folks)
    - Sell out Ciri to Emhyr (take the Gold with pleasure)
    - Let Ciri die (make the worst decisions)
    - No Romance with Shani (just don´t !)
    - Let Gounter O´Dim take Olgierds Soul (don´t help Olgierd in the last moment)
    - Visit the "Old One" , or Vampire Master who´s able to summon Detlaff (the option that Regis realy don´t like)
    - Let Anarietta and her Sister die (safe Syanna from Detlaff but do the wrong answers afterwards)
So far so good, I did it once and, what can I say ? Does the Devil feels bad about being himself , I don´t think so. That nasty grin in ur face, after u realize on what pile of corpses u are walking.
ps: It´s a Game in the very end, never forget that. No one forces u to play this ending - it´s your very own decision.

It's very easy to get that ending if you didn't complete the missions that help you kill Radovids, because if Radovids & Djikstra don't die then Niflguard loses the war & Ciri's father loses his position as king and is killed by rebels. Since there is no Nilfguard kingdom to rule Ciri has no option but to become a witcher. If you help Nilfguard win the war then the only way Ciri still can be a Witcher instead of Empress is if you don't take her to meet her father.

Wow. That’s the only time I’ve seen Geralt get emotional and panicked - as he sweeps the shelves clear, and hurriedly tries to open the chest - and man does it hit hard. Everything, from that little detail of him only now calling her his ‘daughter’, is painfully beautiful here.
Fathers, train your children to be strong - knowing they’re loved, and able to receive help when they need it, absolutely - but also confident in the knowledge that they’ve got what it takes. In my opinion, this is why Geralt needs to step back a little and let Ciri make her own decisions. We need to know we have what it takes.
Personally, I love what CDPR did with choices and how they impact Ciri’s fate. Moves me to be better. Don’t know what great art is, if not that.

AnonymMC because its not like you can just reload from before the final battle, change a few things, and then get a different ending. YOur ending is determined before the battle even starts. Its based off of decisions you made throughout the entire game, especially after you rescue Ciri

    • @leontarmann3449
      @leontarmann3449 5 ปีที่แล้ว +72

@Seth Throndsen depends on what you mean with ruthless. Ciri has a "points" system on her. She starts at 0 points, certain actions give points or take some away. Having a snowball fight for example adds a point, refusing that takes one away. For Ciri to live she must be on 0 points or higher. Any negative number means she dies.

    • @HubertKingHebra
      @HubertKingHebra 5 ปีที่แล้ว +72

@Seth Throndsen to get the Ciri "Alive" ending, you either let her became a witcher or became an empress but choices throughout the game will affect ciri's ending, at 2:21 flashbacks were the "MAJOR" key points, first - after the Kaer Morhen battle, don't invite her to drink, instead select the other option where you get to play snowball fight with her, then don't take her to/or take her to Emhyr ( this will determine if she became a Witcher/Empress ), third is let her speak alone with the Sorceress of Lodge, fourth is "Go for it" option in Avallach's labaratory and lastly Visit Skjall's grave with her, -- These are all the positive points Ciri has throughout the Game, she will later became an Empress/Witcher. do the other option and she will die.
