My rent is 6K a month and i spend max 40.000 baht per month in Jomtien if we don't travel. This is for 2 people (me and Thai wife) and she find this a luxurious life with eating out all our meals, regular cinema, beach days, motorbike, massage, rent etc. If i would be single i would never spend more then 30.000 baht/month everything included. I don't drink /smoke/party.
With 50.000 baht you have a very good life as a single person in Thailand.

Hi Jason, Informative video as usual. Everyone's costs will be different. I think you covered the major bases. Regarding transport costs, I rented/hired a car for a month. It cost 15,000 baht. I considered buying a car. Had to factor in all the things you mention regarding Maxine. In the end, I decided just to use Bolt. Even if I went into either Pattaya or Jomtien every single day (which I don't do) and back home to Pratumnak again, it would cost around 200 baht or so round trip. That works out to around 6,000 or so baht. I get to be chauffered in air con comfort, no need to worry about parking and one way streets and no need to worry about rather slap dash driving of other vehicles. Thanks again for your informative videos.

Which type of car did u rent? I always rent a motorbike in pattaya, 3k a month and gas is like 500 per month so i dont even count that. Easy to go anywhere, park, stop where i want.

@DarkoFitCoach Hi. I rented a car from Pattaya Rent a Car. They have bikes and cars there. I've used them over the years. I've been coming here. I am too old and scared to ride a bike here. I will get an orange shirt bike or a Bolt bike to go short distances around pratumnak and at a pinch into Pattaya or Jomtien. I just feel safer in a car.

Thanks J, like you said everyone is different but that gives a real good guide. For comparison my budget is around 65k, the key differences are, i like to drink in bars so spend double what you put. My visa is about 1500bt a month as I use an agent and I allow myself about 500bt a day for “fun” money, maybe a trip to the cinema or a massage or a couple of drinks for a friendly bar girl. I never go over that budget and often save 5k a month!

Jas I’ll be allowing $25,000 AUD a year which is roughly the same as your 2000 (just under) per month spend, I’ll probably use another $5000 AUD for travel to islands and to travel home 2-3 times a year to see family in Melbourne or Brissy mate, hopefully I get my house sold in January feb or March + my savings of half my life and I’ll be heading over early to mid nxt year 2024, I’m only 42 but I’ll retire early, worked my ass off & now divorced after 19 years, so I’ll be a free man and I’m really looking forward to that… I honestly don’t think Australian people in there late 30tees and up realize they could throw 50% of there liquid into a fund, get small monthly % returns or larger per annum returns?
The west is lost to me now, to much decisive stuff from leaders & to many sound asleep sheep who will never leave the towns the they grew up in, sad really they are missing out on such beautiful places and new happy giving people unlike the sour western big corporations who just wanna bleed every dollar out of the middle to lower class folk… really loving your content and look forward to eventually booking in a meet up with you nxt year mate,

Great video Jason, as always. Thanks for all you do and sharing your expenses on this one. I just returned from Thailand, and came back way under budget. I’m always thinking in these budget videos people do are very conservative and the actual cost must be more, however now I’m beginning to realize that is not so, and that Thailand is just affordable on smaller budgets. But beer, no thanks 😂 I do like to own my condo and transport though, car and motorbike, so the rent is out of the way. But everything adds up. Hi Jason, this is a good rundown of monthly expenses. There are always ways to tweak your budget by knowing where to find better deals, buying in bulk and trimming corners of the items you really don't need. I think it is good to try and eliminate some of the western mindset and live outside of the box we created back home. We are so comfortable in our ways back home, but a few simple tweaks in our lifestyle can make a difference there. Everyone lives differently but for a single guy who doesn't roam the Soi's at night, you can comfortably live in the 40 to 60k range. That is flexible enough to be happy. The great thing is you can always adjust to save and see how it goes. Awesome video mate, this is great content and the information is gold.

For water I would buy a big Berkey water filter system and fill your own bottles. Using tapwater through the gravity, feed water purifier.
Or I would buy a product, called Sawyer mini and build a gravity feed system through the Sawyer mini. I did that when I was in Cuba I have a 10 L bag with a hose coming out the bottom through the filter and into a bottle of your choice. I just refilled a whole bunch of bottles all at once put them in the refrigerator and had basically freewater while I was in Cuba and didn’t have to buy water at the store in Hall water. Or you can buy a reverse osmosis if you have your own place.
I love reverse osmosis water has a real nice taste to it.
Having a filter might be an added expense, but it’s worth it not having to haul water .

I know it's said that they can be highly unhygienic, but ours is maintained regularly, and haven't felt any ill effects from imbibing. Anyway, much easier and cheaper than having to bring in water from off-site. Doing the laundry is so simple in Thailand too - self serve machine wash for around 40 baht, then a few hours drying on the balcony.

I use that Sensodyne two pack here in the states. It varies between six US dollars and eight US dollars. I think it was close to $10 on the shelf in your video. That’s not too bad you’re saving in other places Food, and rent and other amenities it all balances out to a lot cheaper living in Thailand what would you say about a third of what it cost to live in Australia?
That electric toothbrush was super cheap here in the states they cost way too much I won’t even purchase one !!

Thanks for breaking down your expenses in Thailand. I guess everyone is different because I don't spend nearly that amount, In fact two of us my wife and I spend about that much. We have a home (Udon), condo, car and motorbike, plus I use air all the time in the summer since I am on the system all day. 8000 baht for beer ...damn! heck we can even sqweeze in a summer trip to our condo in samui and do a little shopping in Bangkok on that budget. On my way home from going to friends I stop by 7-11 and buy a bag full of snack food for 100 baht. We go out for thai dinner at the roadside cafe ... 120 baht for the two of us. My wife goes to the farmers market spends 300 baht and we have food for a few days. The baht was over 60 to the pound when I first visited Thailand, currently 44, but likely to head towards 30 over the next 5 to 10 years. Hi. Jason. It’s Tom. I’m arriving in Thailand. Won Jan 4. Will stay in bankgkok from Jan 4 thru 9 I’m looking to rent a condo in Jomtien beach from Jan 9 until the last week of March. So I’ll have to rent month to month. For those 3 month. If you have suggestions about beachfront condos that rent by months. I’d appreciate the help. I suggested when you were getting started you might consider private consultations and you’ve implemented that policy. I need to know what you would recommend I do traveling to Jomtien beach. From Bangkok. And searching for condos. I haven’t gotten a visa and my return trip is march 26 will I be in trouble over that. I’m coming to see 5:20 if I might want to reside there may take trips to Bali a, Vietnam and other places like Cambodia, Laos Jakarta. Etc. Will let it unfold as it will. I try not to get overly worried about stuff

If you feel like I should pay for a private consultation. I’ll do that ( if price is ok and within my budget.

Wow dude! My Thai wife was earning 15000 baht per month as a pre school teacher in Udon Thani. When I met her, Each month she had her car loan repayment, fuel, rent, food and also sending some money back to her mum and dad in the village. Maybe it’s cheaper in Isaan 😅

Yeah there are cheaper rentals here and I was paying 8000 when I first moved but it was just too small & uncomfortable. The Thais do know how to live on what they are used too, unfortunately I was used to a certain lifestyle when in Australia on a high income but now having to change and adapt so I can afford to live and stay in Thailand. Thanks for sharing 👍

Hi Jason, great video, the price on the shampoo etc was dear to Aussie price, also it was a bit hard to watch as it looked like your camera was on a fish eye effect. Keep up the great videos.
