  • New details are emerging about how the shadowy data firm Cambridge Analytica worked to manipulate voters across the globe, from the 2016 election in the United States to the Brexit campaign in Britain and elections in over 60 other countries, including Malaysia, Kenya and Brazil. A new trove of internal Cambridge Analytica documents and emails are being posted on Twitter detailing the company’s operations, including its work with President Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton. The documents come from Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Brittany Kaiser, who worked at the firm for three-and-a-half years before leaving in 2018. We speak with Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer, co-directors of the Oscar shortlisted documentary “The Great Hack”; Brittany Kaiser, the Cambridge Analytica whistleblower featured in “The Great Hack” and author of “Targeted: The Cambridge Analytica Whistleblower’s Inside Story of How Big Data, Trump, and Facebook Broke Democracy and How It Can Happen Again”; and Emma Briant, a visiting research associate in human rights at Bard College whose upcoming book is titled “Propaganda Machine: Inside Cambridge Analytica and the Digital Influence Industry.”

      @Enano Yo While I agree with your recommendations, I do not believe Amy to support the Zionist cause, however she has interviewed some extreme Zionists with far too little correction of the disinformation she was allowed to spew forth... Actually in hindsight, I do not know what to believe...
      I will continue to advocate for peace, and the freedom of Palestine, and restoration of all property rights to the 1940s owners, and significant reparations to all victims of Zionism.
      But I also wish for a world free from all Abrahamic religiousity.

    • @ITNoetic

      Agreed. She got very rich, then realized as it hit the fan that she would go down in history as one of the people instrumental in the election of the worst US president in history. So she tried to get out in front of it and run damage control to save her reputation.

    DataPropria, look them up. As CA shut down, they simply moved their methods by starting a new company based in San Antonio, Texas. Their website is eerily deficient in terms of transparency in what they do and who they are. But when you glance at their "careers" page and read job descriptions, they're doing exactly what CA did. So my question for Brittany Kaiser: Why aren't you exposing these issues as they are happening in the present? Preaching digital literacy is great, but you could be identifying former colleagues of yours who have set up shop under a new company with intentions to carry on business as usual.

    • @frechjo
      @frechjo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidriggs8713
      This story is not about how they sell products, but about social engineering. It's about people thinking they are informed and reacting to the state of affairs, when they're just following the script.
      It's been done forever, through religion, with scare tactics, with nationalism, etc, but it had some limits: if you target individually, you can't do it big scale, and if you do it big scale you can't adapt to suit individual personalities and tendencies. Creating a compelling story was hard. Now they do all that at the same time, they target specifically each person, on a large scale, and knowing what works.
      And this is not about obvious advertising/propaganda alone. It's about more subtle manipulation.
      It might be a thing some of us already knew, but most people are not conscious of it, just as they're not conscious of how the news they consume fit certain agendas, or how the sites they browse keep presenting them veiled propaganda.
