I have to say, "WOW! This is a pretty kick ass soundtrack!" The rock and roll style music really works for this game!" And that's saying a lot considering I'm a long time fan of this series. Megaman X8 was (and still is) an excellent game, and it has a solid soundtrack to boot! This game came out a whole decade after the first MMX on the SNES. And while MMX7 left much to be desired, MMX8 did not fail to deliver in terms of quality. Now, to this day, it pains me that this was the last installment of the X series as far as we know. But at least Capcom ended the X series on a high note. And that means the world to me.

I can't blame them for trying something new, we can blame them for doing something mediocre because they didn't put effort into the product.
Honestly they only thing I think is TERRIBLE about x7 is the irritating voice acting. Everything else wasn't as good as the rest of the series but it was fun enough that I can play the game when I go through the series and still enjoy myself, even though I'm looking ahead to x8 the whole time.
Not that x8 has great acting but at least there's not as much high pitched annoying shit outside that one boss you Chase through a city on your bike

I could listen to this soundtrack from beginning to end just to hear the music for Lumine's second form. It's my favorite boss theme in the entire Mega Man franchise, and it alone makes me really wish I had this game.

GX 25 your right you play easy and you just beat sigma you don’t get the true ending ya have to play on normal or higher to confront lumine and beat the game truly.
X8 was such an awesome game, on top of that add an amazing OST!

I love that they picked red as the background color for the box art. I don't like the main characters re-designs though. Wish they had the original designs. X looks badass on the cover art.

Easily one of the best, yes. It amazingly outperformed every X game to date, except for X3. (Ride Armor collectibles, 2nd armor upgrades, playable Zero kicking ass, full rock soundtrack, multiple routes for different end bosses... Just the best. Just perfect.)

As a guy who played the hell out of X4,X5,X6,X7 and X8 because I was too young to play X3 until legacy collection came out. X8 was a great send off for Megaman X. I got kind of tired of fighting sigma and it felt to me like the creators kind of stopped carrying about the story. I am still waiting on a proper megaman X collection to release on steam, XB1 and PS4 that includes all of the X games and command mission. I would buy the fuck out of it.
Hopefully there will be one for Switch, too.

I have played all X games, and this one is my favorite! I loved to play this game everyday!! So many secrets and fun with all three of them and their unique mechanics (it was fun when u used Axl copy shot to mimick those Reploids)

I used to play this game as a kid and i loved it, A LOT, played the living shit out of it, 100% a file and boy, this game was awesome, however, thanks to X7 people ignored this game, out of fear of this being "as bad as x7" but boy, it wasn't it was GOOD but not good enough to save the franchise from the damage x7 did...
Well, X6 was also a very bad entry to the series.
X6 SAVED the series: a lot of shitty plot holes got left behind thanks to X5, and MMZero was an afterthought, not a plan.
X6 did the same based on how people common looked. Other than that, people should realize that the X games are different things, besides, anything can happen.

Probably due to my tastes changing over the years but I gotta say, I really like this soundtrack nowadays which is funny because when I first played it, even as a kid, I didn't like it as much compared to the earlier games, it just felt really messy and unfocused. Time truly does do soundtracks like this justice.

This game is a good experience and great back to form for the mega man x series. It goes back to 2D side scrolling action, it improved on new features, the ost is amazing, and it's just a very good game. I feel like the things that hold it back massively are the stages and the retry chips, things such as the spike trap room from gravity antonien and the slow as balls burn rooster autoscrolling sections just suck, and giga bolt man-o-war sucks alot to but if you know what your doing you can complete his stage pretty fast. But other then that, this is a pretty good X title.

Guys! Stop hating on X8 soundtracks! I hate you guys so much! X8 OST are awesome. You guys have no good taste in X8 soundtracks. If you think X8 had the worst soundtracks, you clearly haven't listened to X3 arranged OST. And I think X8 OST is better X1's, X2's, X3's, X4's, X7's OST imo.
X3's arranged OST isn't bad, but it doesn't fit with the game itself. And, being honest, all the songs use the same instrumentation, which makes the hole thing just feel bland. X2's soundtrack is better (overall) than X8's (in my opinion).
I like all of the Mega Man X soundtracks but this one is still my least favorite. You think that this OST is better than X7's? Just because the game is better doesn't mean the music is. For whatever reason X7's soundtrack gets a lot of hate too. Why?! X6 was a bad game as well but people don't seem to hate that soundtrack! Honestly, X7, X6, and X5 have my three favorite OST in the entire series! (X1 is also right in that group.)

+twilaight I watched a gameplay video and noticed that the OST sounded cool but could barely be heard over the sound effects. I'm a big Mega Man fan but I've been skeptical of every game since X5. I'm interested in trying this game but if these stupid sound effects can't be turned down then I'll probably put off the idea of checking it out. Obviously, if I owned the game, I wouldn't have to ask about this. Haha, are you satisfied now?
vacantplanets Alright, you win. :P To answer your original question, the game actually does have volume control, although when you turn the SFX down it also turns the voice acting down and it becomes VERY quiet. Although since there isn't much voice-acting and there is always subtitles it's not a big deal.

Someday, in the far future, another company which is far too serious, will rewrite the entire franchises (NES megaman, MMX, MMZ) in such way so even the classic NES megaman and the MMZ series will be connected with MMX in terms of storytelling to fill the gaps properly without pissing off the fans.
After this comes the Megaman/Zero games, right? After Zero wakes up from the hibernation/coma thing he put himself in in that secret cutscene or whatever? I'm not well versed in these series' storyline.
Nope. Megaman Zero comes after X5. The X series was supposed to end at X5 per the Directors vision, but Capcom decided to make X6-X8 anyways. X6-X8 should technically not exist in the timeline.
Well, technicaly X6 got the correct ending to the series, I think it's the Zero ending, where Alia finds a cure to the Maverick Virus. But yeah, X6-8 are pretty much spin-offs
