I'm a metal head, but goddamn does the SNES version drone on and on, but this right here is so dynamic, the only thing that could benefit this version is a little bit of the attack from the electric guitar on some parts, but not the god awful guitar from the SNES X3, but the good one from X1.
Problem with this version is it doesn't match the gritty tone of X3. Silver lining: it's not painful to listen to like the SNES version was sometimes. Better arrangements. More diverse and dynamic instrumentation
I'm going to say it depends on the track. Some of these are better, some of the SNES tracks are better. I say this being myself partial towards the capcom C4 soundfont for snes so I do concede some do drone on. I like the boss intro for both equally for differing reasons. I like this version because of scenes like, say Robocop busting down the giant door to that crack manufacturing building in the first movie. I like the snes version because not only is it a good intro but it could also fit for a critical/ berserker finish or playing chicken with two futuristic automobiles.

My shock upon finding countless SNES OSTs on TH-cam but not the CD one made me doubt if I ever heard it correctly, but here it is and I do like it better this way.
This version is FAR MORE SUPERIOR than the old one. MegamanX is so memorable and epic mainly because of the great ost it has, starting from this version’s ost until x6
I can see why some people might dislike some of these songs and thus prefer the SNES version, but at the same time I REALLY don't like some of the SNES tracks compared to their PS1 versions. *cough Blizzard Buffalo cough* At any rate, I find the PS1 tracks passable at worst, not "total crap" like many people seem to insinuate. Put that together with the fact that we get cutscenes in this version, and overall I prefer the disc version of this game.
I think I can see why people don't like these tracks, some of them aren't very good in my opinion, and the instrumentation doesn't really scream "action game" to me, but hey, they are still good songs despite not really having fitting instrumentation in my opinion.

Capcom Mega Man Staff: CD audio soundtrack here is how X3 and later ones in the series was meant to sound mostly. Typical Fans: But SNES screams metal! Soundchips >>>>>>> CD audio!
Well, I'm not gonna lie in the ps1 most versions here are pretty good like blizzard buffalo and gravity beetle and toxic seahorse then there's a few that seem to quiet (crush crawfish), out of beat (intro stage), many instruments are not fitting to the stage (like doppler stage and toxic seahorse which i like in its own right) plus people don't like the x3 soundtrack anyway (except from me i love me some megaman x music metal or not) so i dont know where you're getting that "typical fans" from. Some songs in this version sound way better than the SNES, and vice versa. I kinda wish all three SNES X games were ported to PS1 with updated soundtracks as well, just to see what they would’ve been like.
I think I finally found the reason why I prefer PS/Saturn versions more than the SNES, it sounds less ear-grating and more melodic and ironically, more organic, than the SNES version where the instruments used feels more noticeably repetitive, like the equivalent of button mashing.
Thank god they took the stage selection theme and changed it from the glass shattering, sanity chipping, lifetime expectancy truncating ASSAULT ON YOUR EARDRUMS, to something that actually sounds pretty cool.
