I just bought the 34 inch version which I think is the optimal size for 3440x1440. It has the same pixel density as my current 27 inch Odyssey G7, which is not ultrawide at 109ppi. I feel like 39 inches doesnt give enough of a benefit, especially when mostly playing mouse and keyboard games and sitting up close, to justify the reduction in PPI. I'm super excited to get it and I am worried about burn-in, but based on the research I've done, it seems like just hiding the taskbar and desktop icons, having a black or moving background, and allowing it to perform its image cleaning regularly is more than enough to reduce the chances of burn in significantly. I've heard that you really need to have a static image, with high brightness, sit in the same spot for days in some cases before you will even begin to notice burn in and in most cases, its temporary. For permanent burn-in, you would need to have that same image there all day, every day, for months. I would use it mostly for gaming and watching youtube/movies, so I'm sure I will be fine **fingers crossed**
@BipolarBLKSheep hey, I'm looking to pick up the same monitor. I'm wondering how far do the edges of the screen come outward if it sits flush against a wall or something. Trying to figure out if it'll still leave me with decent space on a 24inch deep desk, and enough room to have a vertically mounted monitor next to it
Finally, a smart guy PPI Matters most also 3440 I think is AWFUL....same as they put everywhere 1440 that cut in the image.....VERY BAD DISPLAY MANUFACTURERS WE HAVE WORLDWIDE

I actually liked the 45 Inch how it looked from the back and on the front, kinda looks more immersive. And tbh the stand looks cheap compare to the 45.. what do you think should I go for the 45 or this one? Would love to see the comparison between these 2! Great video ❤
If your simracing I'd say 45 to get the larger fov, let's see what the interest is with your suggestion of doing a comparison on the comment if there is alot of interest I'll do it
OLED 39 -- This is a great monitor. If I hadn't scooped last gen's 45 UltraGear for 900 (open box ftw), I'd be considering it for the slightly improved PPI. That being said, I sit about an arm and a half away and have zero issues with PPI. I'll wait a gen or two! Thanks -- was waiting for reviews of the 39 incher!
Just last week I ordered the 1rst gen with 45", too. Couldn't resist the price tag of 980 bucks. Now I kinda regret it, seing that 39" one with higher PPI and a nicer stand.. Although I'm also not bothered by the low PPI so much, since I use that monitor mostly for PC-Gaming, and just sometimes for productivity work. Not sure if I should just return it and get the new one as soon as it's available, or if I should keep my 45" one. I really enjoy the screen-size of my current monitor though.. I'm torn 🤔
@@AdmirD got mine for the same price. The 39" has it's coming soon page on best buy for 1499. I don't like the stand that much especially since I use a desk mount
While it's not the best resolution, it's the same ppi as the current 32" 1440p monitor I use which is more than fine...but OLED has the whole text rendering issues so maybe I'll wait until they release a 1600p version or they fix the text rendering issues on oled
Well I'll say this it may be a decent monitor for PC but I have a 42-inch LG OLED C3 for my PS5 and my Xbox series X and looking at this compared to my TV I think the TV does a better job with those consoles
I actually like that they kept it lower. It's easier to drive 3440x1440p at 240hz. It will be hard to drive the full capability of this resolution alone.
I disagree about monitors needing to have speakers. The *best* monitor speakers sound *worse* than the *cheapest* dedicated desktop speakers, and the people buying this monitor will no doubt already have good speakers, or have the cash ready to buy high quality speakers. Plus, in my experience, Windows automatically prioritizes monitor speakers over existing options, when a new monitor is plugged in (or just randomly), which I find extremely annoying. I'd like to hear why you think speakers are necessary in monitors.
Some people just want to watch a youtube video using those monitor speakers, mostly talk, which sound fine on monitor speakres. People are obviosly not using it for music and gaming haha...
@@Dr.WhetFarts you can literally buy 20$ speakers and they sound much better than any build in speakers, It really makes no sense to build in speakers. 0 sense. Would just make the monitor, thicker, heavier, more expensive. All for nothing

OLED 39 looks promising- mine will be here the first week of April... the most difficult part is waiting. I can understand why they skipped speakers, as anyone using this for gaming will have a great audio setup- but for office use, it would be nice to have the simple speakers for the typical "ding" when using office apps. I'll be using mine more for home office use than anything, but I have an old flight sim cockpit setup with gaming chair- so I may throw a VESA mount on that and bring that back to life. A well implement matt finish can absolutely be better than a gloss coating, it doesn't take much to get reflections with gloss and that of course destroys the visual experience. If your in truly dark room, sure gloss.
How would you say this? Performs a comparison to the LG45 inch ultra gear with the 800 R curve. I know the biggest concern with that model. Was the low PPI count? However, I think it made up for it with immersion. But what would your opinion be
Performance is very similar but this is brighter the higher PPI makes it slightly best but it all depends on your usage if you're just going to be using it for simracing then the 45 inch gives great immersion with the larger display but I did find was a bit over welming on a desk, this is where thee 39inch felt just right on a desk.
I have already said before between flat 32 inch or 34 inch OLED, always flat. But if they have 38 inch then I will go for it. Issue is the resolution. It should be 5k resolution for this 39 inch.
Great monitor I just bought the 34 inch ultra wide version on sale on Amazon on sale for $796 right now! The only drawback to this monitor is it only HDR 400. But for the price, I’m gonna go ahead and deal with it but if you’re an HDR person you want one with a minimum of HDR 600.
Let me know if you like it, I've been pretty frustrated with the text quality, just got mine today. Overall, I find the image to look more blurry than is acceptable for me, so I'm returning it. Ironically, the curve, which is something I thought I would hate, was one of my favorite things. Refresh rate was awesome and colors were good, but damn that image blurriness Even when the resolution is set correctly, kind of sucks for me. Maybe I'm just extra sensitive to it or something, but it was pretty disappointing. Hope your experience with it is better
It doesn't launch here until next week. I preordered from a local Best Buy so I can easily return it if I don't like it. if you have a 1600P 21:9 I'm not surprised it disappointed you. I'm coming from a 1440P 34" 21:9 LCD and will keep it for work. my oled tv has spoiled me so I've wanted an oled monitor. if I was you I'd wait for an oled 1600P 21:9. I'll probably upgrade when those come out too.@@nathanfife2890
I really wanted this monitor due to the 21:9 format and size but the resolution is too low. Ended up with a G9 49“ oled and I’m more than happy. I was hesitant cause 32:9 is not always supported by older games but so far it’s not problem. And it’s also great for productivity.
as someone using a curved monitor since years i'd absolutely never go back to a flat screen but here, i'm really interested by this one but i'm scare that curve could be too much in person :/
OLED 39 Thanks for your review! recently the 39" got discount, but I would really hope able to see higher resolution panel such as 3840x1600 that would just take my money straight! and LG 32" 4K OLED that monitor just keep out of stock, cant buy that like forever!
I picked up the 34inch one myself. It was too good of a deal at only $600 down from $1300. I love it but I really wish Ultra Wide support was more of a focus for JRPG's like Granblue Fantasy Relink and Dragon Quest 11. Really sad I can't play those without black bars.
Thanks a lot for the review, your desk looks a lot bigger than 140x70 (which I found in your setup video). I was hesitating because my desk is 160x80, so that would not be an issue!
Hello, I just recently purchased a 39 OLED Gaming Monitor everything is set. I just wanted to know how do you get to have the sound come from the Gaming Monitor itself?
I trust the LG brand so this new monitor is impressive to me. I would love to have this monitor so i'm looking into where i can get it. Your review is super thorough and great as always my friend. OLED39/ like 425
The 34" is better for this resolution, it has 109 PPI, which is about the same as 42" 4K or 27" QHD. The other problem is the 800R curvature. You should be sitting within 32" away for optimal fov. Due to the low PPI, you need to be seating further away, but probably past the center point to match the apparent sharpness of the 34" at the center point, so it's not exactly optimal imo. Also, it's $1599, pretty steep. The 27" QHD 240hz is half the price, and a 42" LG C3 is like $900. You're really paying a premium for the 240hz, and the curvature I guess.
Did you end up keeping this monitor? I've had this monitor for 2 weeks now and it's the first oled monitor I've owned and I can live with it's cons for now. It's a solid monitor for gaming but everything else it's just okay if you look past how amazing the 39" 800r just pulls you in.
my gut feeling tells me that the next 1-2 years will be a sweet spot long term to buy an ultrawide OLED monitor. I'm expecting a 360-480hz 1440p UW monitor with a further improvement to the OLED tech and in particular, the new anti glare coating developed by Samsung on the QD OLED panel front and LG will probably do something similar as well. I honestly don't think that we will ever need beyond 240-360hz on an UW, especially at this size, it's borderline too big for the primary purpose of super high Refresh rate, aka competitive shooters. I'm still a bit uneasy to buy an OLED monitor though (too many static elements for desktop use) still rocking a 120hz alienware 34 inch ultrawide IPS monitor and a 180hz LG Nano ips monitor. I have a have a high end Sony OLED TV though (A95L) so I know what I will be buying myself into.
Hello. I just purchased this monitor. It is awesome. The only thing I realized is, there is a light pinkish tint on the right side and can be seen on white background. Some users tell that these oled screens have the same issue. Is it a problem or normal behavior ?
This is normal, it's due to how the subpixel layout being RWBG (Red/White/Blue/Green). It happens on ALL OLED monitors, QD-OLED is less noticeable. Until Windows learns how to handle it, it'll continue to be an issue. The problem becomes less noticeable as the pixels per inch increase.
@@matthewmayberry239thanks a lot. So this is not a technical issue. Whether I replace it with another one, it will still continue to have that pink color on somewhere. I was thinking to replace the display cable but seems not a solution.
@@AslanBehar Correct, Windows 10/11 does not properly handle the subpixel layout. If you're using MacOS, I believe it does from what I've read, but I haven't personally used it to know. Until Microsoft implements support for the subpixel layout, every single OLED will have some sort of color fringing. W-OLED seems to have it worse than QD-OLED. I personally cant see it on my QD-OLED, but it's 4k and 32", so the PPI is fairly high. On my 42", I could see it very minor.
“OLED” 39. That being said, how’s this monitor on a 70 cm deep desk? My desk is 63.5 cm deep, the Karlby countertop from IKEA. I assume the PPI will be even more noticeable for me since I’ll sit closer to it..?
Hello there, So I just bought this monitor yesterday. I have a question when I play games through the Xbox cloud I have two black bars on the right & left sides of the screen. Is there a way to stretch this to fit the screen? Also, does it do it when I play console games? Any feedback would be great. Thanks, Gary
If you go to settings on your monitor go to Input - Aspect Ratio - Full Wide and that would stretch it out (When using console). But the picture won't be that great because consoles don't do ultrawide.

Thanks and great to hear the review helped 🤩
39" Ultrawide is what I am after, not in a stupid 800R curve and want at least 1600P, so the wait continues.
have to wait for a review from rtings however I've the 38Gl950-B don't know if I should upgrade. don't like that it's curved so strong.
OLED 39 - Thanks for the great review. Really torn between this one and the 34" version.
As always thank you for reviewing the best tech so it easier for us to buy keep up the good work.
😍
Will playing games with black bars on the sides increase the chance for burn in?
I wouldn't mount the monitorstand like this. Always in the box. Just a tip!
Just picked this up from best buy open box for 650 dollers loveing it.

OLED 39 🤓👍🏻 Thanks for the honest review
❤️
It's the best test I've seen on this screen.
OLED 39: I wish this had a 1600p OLED panel with usb-c and kvm. Hopefully next year.
Thank you for the great review, LGUltraGear OLED really beast 🤤
Wow, the picture and colors look amazing. Awesome video. Love the name of the channel too. 👍
i believe the portable has surpasses the speaker quality now, just some things still need to be developed more
I really wanted this monitor due to the 21:9 format and size but the resolution is too low. Ended up with a G9 49“ oled and I’m more than happy. I was hesitant cause 32:9 is not always supported by older games but so far it’s not problem. And it’s also great for productivity.
Awesome review! Can you let us know where you get the circuits prints that can be seen on the right?
5:39 What monitor would you recommend best for text? 🖥️
I use this one for productivity setup th-cam.com/video/4SHWEwX6-HM/w-d-xo.html it's perfect
@@GeekStreetThank You!
as someone using a curved monitor since years i'd absolutely never go back to a flat screen but here, i'm really interested by this one but i'm scare that curve could be too much in person :/
Centimeters are great but you could translate it to inches also for us in the states.😊
Thanks for the feedback
OLED 39
Thanks for your review!
recently the 39" got discount, but I would really hope able to see higher resolution panel such as 3840x1600 that would just take my money straight! and LG 32" 4K OLED that monitor just keep out of stock, cant buy that like forever!
Great video. Maybe move your branding to the center. It totally blocks youtube controllers in lower lefthand corner.
@ShotgunSandwichENT thanks for the feedback

At what distance are you while gaming at you're desk?
Ummm yes please! I’ll be using primarily for productivity reasons. No type C kinda sucks.
Awesome to see one of the new models out in the wild! Need to add the 32” one to my setup for sure.
Thanks!
OLED 39 ! Tough decision between this and a 42" LG C4. 👀
@@JCTiggs1 🤩
I picked up the 34inch one myself. It was too good of a deal at only $600 down from $1300. I love it but I really wish Ultra Wide support was more of a focus for JRPG's like Granblue Fantasy Relink and Dragon Quest 11. Really sad I can't play those without black bars.
is it not 4k? does monitor swivel vertically at all
Great detailed video! Thanks!
😍
Amazing monitor!!! Any word on this monitor being compatible with the Astros a50x??? I know some other models are not
It should be able to. I have the new 29inch model and it work just fine with my Astro A50x
Any reason because is not 4k? thank you, great video!!!
Thanks a lot for the review, your desk looks a lot bigger than 140x70 (which I found in your setup video). I was hesitating because my desk is 160x80, so that would not be an issue!
Yes I've double checked it's definitely 140x70cm
Very informative video, but there is a huge audience that do not use metric system, we have to pause and then convert.
Thanks for highlighting 👌
Question for you - What was that transparent dock station looking item that was under your monitor table??
That's actually a powerbank check this out th-cam.com/users/shortsawRjceILgW8?feature=share
@@GeekStreet That’s awesome! Thank you so much! And also thanks for replying back!!!
Which to choose? - LG 39GS95QE or ASUS PG39WCDM? They are the same panels I think no?
Same doubt here. Wondered, does this LG monitor have fans ? That might make the choice easier..
ASUS ROG Swift 39 is much more advanced with a better power delivery of 90W, unique ASUS tuning tech, custom heatsink etc.
Surely a lot of your sim screen is blocked by those vertical rails?
It's not too bad
I need this exact size but in native 4k. So I upgrade from my OG 38in curved
Does it come with a fan for cooling or is it passive cooled? Thanks
Passive cooled from what I could tell
Hello, I just recently purchased a 39 OLED Gaming Monitor everything is set. I just wanted to know how do you get to have the sound come from the Gaming Monitor itself?

Great review, thanks. Does it have a fan ? Any coil whining ? That could ease the choice with the Asus ..
No fan and I didn't notice any coil whining
@@GeekStreet ok thanks for the update.
In your opinion, why did Asus bother doing this special thermal system then ? (It looks like LG chose not to..)
I've read it's to do with image burn in but LG takes care of that via their OLED care options in the OSD.
@@yvanmmh2966 lg did it too for example on the 38Gl950-B and over time you always get a coil whine from the fan or something else.
@@dorfkind9825 I indeed own this monitor, and.. cool whining is present.. ok, it's 4 years old..but it didn't appear yesterday...
1 point for Asus..
Can I ask what desk riser you got? It fits perfectly with the monitor on your desk
The aggressive 800R curve is a deal breaker for me, I was really looking forward to these 39" OLED ultrawides.
The curve on the 39inch is pretty good to be honest, whereas the curve on the 45inch feels a bit overwhelming on a desk
@@GeekStreet Ah actually I have a friend with the 45" Ultragear, I hate the curve on that, interesting you feel this is not as bad.
Same, I was planning to get it but decided against it after seeing the curve. Even Samsung's 49" has a les of a curve.
5:43 I think the word is "fringing".
Frigging is something entirely different.
Does this have fan inside? I can't stand fan noise from monitor.
No it was silent
Any speaker/soundbar recommendations? I use this monitor for my pc, and Xbox. Thanks if any response !
@hiwebula I have this one on one of my desk setups and it's so good amzn.to/3AU3i3f

OLED 39
❤️
when will it be available and for what price ?!
It’s it coming to the UK market?
hey a bit of a weird question, what is your desk dimension ? it seem to fit very well with this monitor.
It's 140cm x 70cm
Did you end up keeping this monitor? I've had this monitor for 2 weeks now and it's the first oled monitor I've owned and I can live with it's cons for now. It's a solid monitor for gaming but everything else it's just okay if you look past how amazing the 39" 800r just pulls you in.
Saw this monitor in person today at Micro Center & I'm pretty sure I'm selling my LG C3 42" & getting this!
Whats a Mouse or Keyboard CaBle?? 🤔
my gut feeling tells me that the next 1-2 years will be a sweet spot long term to buy an ultrawide OLED monitor.

Did you happen to notice if there is active cooling with a fan?
This didn't seem to be a fan
Thanks for the review! This is the exact monitor I was waiting for! Any idea when this is going to be released in the UK?
I think May/June
Yo that look really good , an impressive monitor for immersing in games, great review 👏.
Thanks!
On my 42", I could see it very minor.
is the matte display grainy ? is it somewhat glossy or not at all?
I'd say It's somewhat glossy
When does this come out and the 45in one I pre order that one
can you change colour temperature on this while in hdr mode ?
I know it's a 39" but what are the actual measurements of the screen (height, length)? I want to determine desk space.
I've shown in the video, check it out 🤙
“OLED” 39. That being said, how’s this monitor on a 70 cm deep desk? My desk is 63.5 cm deep, the Karlby countertop from IKEA. I assume the PPI will be even more noticeable for me since I’ll sit closer to it..?
I hope we get this model in the Netherlands 😁😁😁
🙏
How about for a 140×65 desk? It will be fine?
Hey mate, you had the 45 version aswell, is the ppi better on this monitor?
The ppi on the 39" is slightly better
Hello there, So I just bought this monitor yesterday. I have a question when I play games through the Xbox cloud I have two black bars on the right & left sides of the screen. Is there a way to stretch this to fit the screen? Also, does it do it when I play console games? Any feedback would be great. Thanks, Gary
If you go to settings on your monitor go to Input - Aspect Ratio - Full Wide and that would stretch it out (When using console). But the picture won't be that great because consoles don't do ultrawide.
