In my recipe I peeled nothing and mashed my garlic. The peels have a lot of nutrients in them. You strain everything in the end anyway so I feel I get all the same results.

The black pepper also increases the bioavailability of the beneficial molecules in the herbs and is an excellent enhancement to the turmeric.

I made this less than seventy-two hours ago but I used only tinctures and I beat the flu in less than 50 hours. Feeling at least 95 percent better.

I’m in bed watching this , I’m unwell with covid 😞 I am definitely doing a fire cider for next years cold and flu season!! I have however been having peppermint tea with fresh ginger, lemon and honey and having daily chopped garlic raw! Also lots of cinnamon in porridge oats which has been very soothing. Also I’m doing steam inhalations of eucalyptus, tea tree and thyme twice a day. All this is definitely helping to fight this horrible virus .

The garlic skins can be left on because they are very nutritious and medicinal and will be filtered out with everything anyways. Just crush and slice the cloves with them on.

I dehydrate all of the remaining veggies and seal them to use later in the winter to add to soups.

Also, you can grow Meyer's Lemon trees at home, even indoors, fairly easily. They'll work in pots, it's a miniature tree. Apparently the flowers are also very fragrant, so indoors that is a bonus. At least a periodic source of fresh lemons not sprayed down with pesticides.

In my house we have to call Dragon Medicine so my kids will take it. I like to put it in tomato juice.

I just made two quarts and it's horrid! Lol, is it supposed to be this nasty? I have not added any honey yet. After fermentation of 4 weeks you sure it hasn't turned into vodka? I'm seriously laughing as I type this. I'm about to take another spoonful to test agin.

I started making this about 7 years ago. I had painful leg cramps at night. I was told that ACV would help. It did.

I like it without honey. Most winter mornings, I drink a mug of hot water with a shot of fire cider and two lemon juice ice cubes (from my own lemon tree.) I also use it to dress my daily power green salad, grown in my former dining room.

Thank you for the recipe my Appalachian grandma used to make something similar without the peppers called Jog in a jug. God bless!
