This channel is not only for non-Thai people, but also Thais themselves actually! I literally enjoy Thailand-related contents presented in English. I sometimes don't know how to detailedly explain about this kind of stuff to my foreign friends, but this helps a lot.
downloaded this very informative video for my matayom 2 students, we are learning about the elements of culture and wedding in particular is a great example of a tangible element.
The traditional way of Thai wedding is so like what an Indian wedding is... I am really shocked looking at these similarities !!! All the more reason to believe that India and Thailand were one country way back in time.
I don't think they were ever one country. That would be like saying Norway and Italy were once one country. Sure, their weddings are very similar, and there are many similarities between Norwegian and Italian culture as they ultimately get most of their culture from many of the same sources (Christian, Greek, Roman, Celtic, and Germanic influences), but they were never the same country. We can also tell that India and Thailand were never part of the same country by the differences in the languages. Whereas Hindi is an Indo-European language, Thai comes from the Kra-Dai language family. The answer is simple though, the spread of Buddhism was also a spread of culture. Similar to the spread of Islam and Christianity. A good example is how after the fall of the Roman Empire, the Catholic church stood up to take Rome's spot in the power vacuum that appeared after Rome's collapse, and the whole of Europe, even the countries that were never Roman, fell under its umbrella, and as a result, all of Europe adopted a set of Western values and cultural traditions that were initially laid by Rome and the Catholic church. From the outside looking in, (well kind of, I am marrying a Thai woman, hence me being on this video) Thai culture is centered around Buddhism, takes bits and pieces from many Asian cultures, and then adds its own spice to the mix to make its own beautiful and unique culture. Nowhere else in the world, let alone Asia, is exactly like Thailand, and it is amazing. An extremely unique, amazing culture and people.
I'm getting married next year to my thai girlfriend...lve also been to a thai wedding and it was all done at their house in their village...a little different
This is 3rd time i viewed and enjoy. I was married last month July 30th. Registered with district office. Our ceremony will be feb/mar 2020. When i ask her father in thai by the way, lol there was no mention of sinsod, she is 39, never married or had children. Self supportive actually very independent and helps her father out, mother passed when she was 24. I am not going to offer sinsod and my wife agrees. We do want a million baht for ceremony along with our other gold, and such. But this is for show i was told??? Not to give to parents. Anyway thank you very much for your vids.
Please explain the head piece thats joined between the wedding couple, when does this happen , why does it happen, how does it happen, who does it. Thanks andi
Lol what a silly ceremony! So there's hardly any reception then? No vodka drinking? Seems so uptight and strict about all the procedures. To the narrator girl's credit, at least she can know some English which is a novelty as far as thai people are concerned! :)
How narrow minded u are. “Silly” your kidding right? This is a part of culture your disrespecting. No every wedding has to do with partying or getting drunk
