I was just looking for a simple Reverb after selling my Big Sky ( which I kind of regret ) but this reverb pedal is exactly what I’m looking for. Simple, yet effective. I have limited time to plug in and play so this less time tinkering with knobs the better. Josh, you are doing the guitar community a great service by releasing this line of high quality yet very affordable pedals. I’ve bought every complex and expensive pedal there is and now all I want is something simple so I could plug in a play without wasting tons of time tweaking knobs. Most of my pedal knowledge that I’ve acquired came from watching your show and I am appreciative of that. I learned more about pedals and circuits than I ever thought I would and it’s all because of your willingness to share your knowledge and for that kind sir I thank you.
Hey Jordan, I have tested a few hundred of this Reverb pedal before we shipped out to dealers. I own a Big Sky and I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. When I first plugged one in I had people from the shipping department as well as builders popping their head in my office to see what I was playing. To say the least I may have wasted a little company time because it was so inspiring. 😬 I hope you get a chance to check one out! 🤘 Best of luck to you!
John Loux Music Hey, thanks for insiders info and well wishes! Testing a few hundred reverb pedals sounds pretty awesome to say the least. Your ear must be really honed in. As soon as I heard the tone I went onto Sweetwater and ordered one. It’s arriving Monday. Any insider tips? I plan on using it with my single channel Orange which doesn’t have reverb. It seems like adding more verb makes it go from Room to Hall to Spring to more infinite ambient styles of reverb when cranked. I was looking at the Topanga and Faux Spring but they only really have one sound. The MXR is nice but I didn’t want to get lost in settings again. This one seems to be right there in the middle. Simple, but still has tonal variations. Hopefully this one is the last one I need. All I really want is something similar to a really good amp reverb. I think it will pair well with the Jan Ray and KOT.
Let me tell you something about those big skys. I have a history in the worship music world and everyone along with their mother has a big sky. Despite having the most advanced and tweakable reverb pedal on the market, they pretty much all used the most boring settings in the world on them. Though I think they're awesome and super advanced, I've never been impressed with anyone's reverb sound who I knew was using a big sky. Only time I ever complimented a dude's reverb, because it sounded absolutely huge and amazing, it ended up being a boss rv-6 on the modulated setting. So that's what I ended up buying. All that to say, most people with big sky's don't use them anywhere near their true potential. There are much better, cheaper ways to create space (good stacked delays; light, light modulation; etc.). If you use a reverb correctly anyway, it's typically fairly mild.
I just received my 3 Series Delay. Without even being connected it stands out among my pedals like the "White Album" stands out among my vinyl. I was wondering if it's supposed to smoke until I realized it was just a burst of inspirational combustion and the smoke was coming from my guitar playing (or maybe it was from my wife seeing the Fed Ex truck in our driveway - AGAIN!). Thanks for making this.
I just received my series 3 Distortion pedal. I love it. Great tones. Well done Josh. I’m going to buy all the pedals in this series. One a month. How fun for me! Thanks to all at JHS, you guys are the best WELL DONE!
Well Josh, my JOYO Aquarius (that you suggested) died today so I’m replacing it with the JHS3 delay. My first JHS pedal. Dear god, don’t become an addiction... Wish me luck ;)
I was lucky enough to review all seven of these the other day...and WOW, I was so pleasantly surprised. Simple and basic but high quality... affordable and American-made and sound darn good. Well done JHS!
The salmon represents quality pedals, the hawk represents too many features, the eagle is too much cost, and Josh is Pedal-Zeus throwing a lightning bolt of affordability from the heavens.
Been using the distortion pedal for about a year now and I am IN LOVE with the simplicity and versatility within it. Now I must have more pedals in this series. Love your transparency!
I'm dedicated to buying one pedal a month. My first was the chorus, and I love it. I watch this episode once a week to wet my appetite. After a few years away from guitar, this channel has been a huge inspiration to me getting back into it, so, thank you.
I picked up the compressor today. I tried it side-by-side with a dyna comp at the same price. The JHS had waaaay more control over the effect and sounded better overall, so it was a no-brainer. Well done, Josh!
I've been watching your videos for a couple weeks now. I have 4 pages of notes. I'm 65, getting back into a band situation and really digging it. I love that you actually promoted your own products in this one. The reverb pedal made me realize why the reverb on my amp will just not do. JHS pedals on my BUY LIST: 3 Series Reverb and Distortion. And a couple of non 3 Series - the Whitey Tighty compressor (like the blend control) and the buffered splitter. Your jams are great, too. Great work!
Just bought the Compressor and the Distortion. The Compressor is fantastic, the only issue is my guitar has INSANE output volume, kinda awesome though. The Distortion might just be the best distortion pedal I've ever played.
I gotta say.... this is my absolute favorite video of you and Nicks playing and songwriting. You guys are WAY BETTER than you get credit for! I honestly think that you could or should release an album of your work, or make them free downloadable, or up on TH-cam...whatever. I just wanted to tell you that. I hope i am not a weirdo. That is all. Thank you.
I’ve been trying a bunch of compact form factor reverbs for my board and I’m happy to belatedly discover how good the 3 series reverb is but also a little bit pissed that I didn’t try it first.
Just got in the Overdrive! I love it. I also have the Compressor on the way. Thank you so much for releasing such quality, budget friendly pedals! Now work on giving us an album! These jams are too epic to not flesh out!
Chatting with Josh this morning, not once did he mention anything about the JHS 3 Series 🤔 I do think the 3 Series is a great way to get up-and-coming player's into affordable boutique pedals built in the USA. Later on as they mature in playing abilities.. I believe they'll move on to seek out their voice. Therefore, everyone pretty much wins the end. Just my 3 cent's worth 😉 • Favorite quote in the video: Josh: "Let's add some delay and just rock out. Let's get crazy. Okay, here we go." 🤣
Awesome that you’re making some more affordable pedals in these times when budgets are a little tighter. They all sound fantastic, as does you’re playing. You definitely got a groove going today Josh! Also as far as a three-piece album, King’s X - Dogman ...
Just got the reverb today, it's great. It just says "Reverb" no big flashy chassis, no oddly labeled knobs and most importantly.. the pedal sounds fantastic. I needed a reverb and I sure as hell got one, great work on this line.
Thanks darillio now I gotta go n check out the d.o.d. corcosa! BUT I couldn't agree more that the new JHS paddles are killer sounding! Fuzz with mad versatility. Simple, clean presentation.
You should do an episode where you go over your favorite EE/audio circuit textbooks or just ones that influenced your design the most. Or even just post a list online somewhere I'm just a textbook nerd/collector who likes to see which textbooks other people like.
24:51 I have the Fuzz 3 and I have to claim how good and complete it is. I own and have tried a number of fuzzes and I have to say the JHS is my favourite and it fits with any way of playing I can and combine very well with the other effects on my chain. And without paying too much for my budget. To me, it's an affordable formidable. The sound of the video doesn''t make it justice, I'd say it sounds better live and the playability and response is fantastic even for a "untamed" nature like this kind of distortion pedals uses to be, and it's very silent. Honestly, I'm more than happy with this purchase.
Makes sense, doesn't matter how many knobs and toggle switches you have on a pedal when you only have one vacuum cleaner switch to turn it on or off live.
I especially love when the dog just wanders onto the set 🤣 Nick doesn’t get enough credit for tasty beats, fills and a clean, punchy drum sound to die for
Holy cow! I just picked up the Series 3 Reverb pedal to put on my backup pedal board. It sounds f’n great! Wow. Was not expecting this. I think I like it better than my beloved EHX Holy Grail Max that’s been on my main gigging board for 20 years. Josh got this one right! I’ve had good luck with all 3 JHS boxes I’ve bought. Original AT pedal is the best high gain OD ever. And my Little Black Buffer has worked great at the end of my board for years. Now this Reverb pedal. Happy Camper!!!😊
The humor, wit, love, talent, quality, creativity, passion, art, sarcasm, and charm makes Josh and crew the best pedals on the market and the best guitar show on TH-cam 🤜🏼❤️🤛🏾
Josh, I love your 3 series! I love the clean white minimalist look, and the clear direct names that says exactly what the pedal is with no fancy/confusing names!
Backed into this video (knowing nothing about JHS) after a) seeing the overdrive featured on Rhett Shull's channel, b) locating one used on reverb that I could pick up locally, and c) searching for videos to get to know what I'd just bought. Your pedals, snarky humor, and the great jams kept me here thru the entire video. In the end, when you say, you're excited for these pedals.... I'm nodding my head. Nice job all around! I'll come looking for JHS pedals as future needs demand.
@JHS Pedals: I’m really starting to get miffed that you don’t have an instrumental album I can add to my work playlist. I’m totally serious… well, not exactly about beeing miffed, though maybe a little bit… mostly I just want an album. Do that, please. I’ll be less miffed, and that would be nice. Might even be happy; even nicer.
I highly recommend the Danelectro CoolCat from the 90’s, big metal body, 18V CE-2 clone. Sounds incredible. Best chorus Ive had. You can find em for like 60 bucks. And they’re stereo.
What an inspiring video, quite the journey Josh sets us on LoL from a poetic opening, to the great pedal showcase, to the "i made these... but i cant take them where they need to go" challenge. And how smooth was Galactic Football Star
The jams on these videos are the best part! You guys take no freaking prisoners. Way more fun (and educational!) than the Jan. 6 hearings, which I was watching earlier.
These all sound great. I even liked the “Distort” pedal when I usually don’t like a pedal with that much distortion. I thought about buying one of each, and making an All- 3 Series pedalboard, but then I realized a pedalboard with almost identical white pedals could occasionally be... visually challenging. And maybe that’s purposeful to not have too much 3 Series awesomeness on one pedalboard. Also beware of lawsuits from BMW legal team over “3 Series” and harassment from BMW fanbois. 😉
With the price point, you have enough money left to buy a set of colored sharpies. When you’ve practiced enough to be gigging, you’ll know exactly where on the pedals are anyway. Often times and dark clubs I’m not even seeing the color of my petals. I’m just stopping on the position.
Hello Josh and Co., I am vintage 1968, and am an historian with an M.A. in history, B.A. in American Culture Studies. I have learned a tremendous amount from your videos, and they have helped me get through Covid. 60 Cycle Hum is very helpful too; I can't tell you how darn expensive pedals were in the 80's when I bought an Ibanez Chorusl/Flanger. It is funny how Ryan underestimated the size of his audience with that cheap reverb giveaway. Where's my shipping, ryan ? haha. Like you, I love the affordability and crazy diversity of pedals now. It's a Renaissance. I wanted to support your efforts to bring quality stuff out for $99. I bought that fuzz, and it is the shit. I went "electric" (again) with a 1938 Supro lap steel that I bought with my stimulus money. That, and pedals have been much cheaper than the therapy they provided while I was dealing with Covid here working in the public schools in Illinois. I have a master's but can only be an underpaid aide, because I don't have a teaching certificate. It's pretty bleak. Not sure if I want to teach anyway, because the kids can have cell phones in middle school, and high school, so they leave their brains on the shelf. This said I am a St. Louisan who lives in Carlinville, IL. I'd prefer to work for you than in my current capacity, though I have access now (half my day) to totally amazing machine technology from 1927 metal lathes-to Cold War vertical cutters to CNC machines. I want to expand my career by getting these cell phone zombies into making instruments and pedals. This high school even has some of the same bitchin' antique streamiined Delta drill presses still in use at the Fender plant. Zombie cell phone kids don't get that if they try, they can do cool stuff. I think we should get them making guitar pedals or custom aluminum pickguards instead of working at Walmart, or pumping gas. Anyway, I'm happy to send my CV, and maybe we can think about a curriculum. I am tired of not earning a living wage in this small town. The focus here is edging toward trade-based education, as it is in Germany and other places. Cheers Josh! Stan Henderson P.S. Jameson Irish whiskey helped this letter push through, haha!
I’m 39 and just learning to play. I just bought the 3 series chorus AND delay. I watch Josh’s videos and buy pedals because they keep me interested. Wish me luck.
These are beautiful blank canvases I plan to use to develop my own graphics and possibly even my very own "bow teak" pedal line. Really reminds me of the inexpensive "No Frills" brand that used to be available at the local PathMark many years ago, Some No Frills was good (frozen OJ concentrate and Ellios style pizza come to mind). Some stuff was bad, like every cookie and cereal they knocked off. As long as you never offered your friends a No Frills brand anything, and generally hid any and all items from sight, life was good.

That would actually be incredible.
Best of luck to you!

Yes, this Reverb has me questioning if I should sell my EQD Ghost Echo in the big enclosure... nah.
Thanks to all at JHS, you guys are the best WELL DONE!
fivewatt releases Jaguar history, Josh uses a Jaguar in this demo.... COCIDENCE? I THINK NOT!
I think so actually
Josh uses 4 guitars in this video dude
Hey jon man
His jaguar has such a sick setup though
Chris Rowan hey nong man
Well Josh, my JOYO Aquarius (that you suggested) died today so I’m replacing it with the JHS3 delay. My first JHS pedal. Dear god, don’t become an addiction...
Wish me luck ;)
Best infomercial ever. I'd watch it again just for the intermission jams.
Thank you, Josh and everyone at JHS! You are very appreciated.
I was lucky enough to review all seven of these the other day...and WOW, I was so pleasantly surprised.
Simple and basic but high quality... affordable and American-made and sound darn good.
Well done JHS!
Josh is coming in late but coming in STRONG with his bid to save us from 2020!
2020 is a write off, just make the most of it. It has been a good year for having free time.
@@Mark70609 Wonderful consolation for those the government has forbidden from earning a living to support their families.
This is exactly what people need. Well built simple pedals that simply do the job.
Yes!!!
You mean, a Boss pedal.
The salmon represents quality pedals, the hawk represents too many features, the eagle is too much cost, and Josh is Pedal-Zeus throwing a lightning bolt of affordability from the heavens.
Yeah that makes as much sense as the story 😂
is deep dirp cheap pedls
The Lightning Bolt represents the band Lightning Bolt, known for their effects heavy and rhythm driven sound.

Been using the distortion pedal for about a year now and I am IN LOVE with the simplicity and versatility within it. Now I must have more pedals in this series. Love your transparency!
What an incredible series of pedals! Love the video of the employees testing them too!
I'm dedicated to buying one pedal a month. My first was the chorus, and I love it. I watch this episode once a week to wet my appetite. After a few years away from guitar, this channel has been a huge inspiration to me getting back into it, so, thank you.
Hope you're sticking with it and perfecting those skills! Keep on playin!
@@mefirstandthegimmiegimmies5160 thanks!
I'm going through the exact same phase dude, it's funny 😄
Yeah, yeah these all sound amazing and are priced super reasonably, but why is no one talking about the dog at 24:00?

Great work!
3-piece band favorites: Dinosaur Jr.'s "Without a Sound" and Rush's "Exit...Stage Left".
Just bought the Compressor and the Distortion. The Compressor is fantastic, the only issue is my guitar has INSANE output volume, kinda awesome though. The Distortion might just be the best distortion pedal I've ever played.
Lower ya pickups

I think Nick is a great drummer. So many different styles. I wish I knew such versatile a drummer.
The distortion jam started really awesome.....then that chorus chimed in and took it out of this world. That was amazing.
Thank you.
Josh: Those triple stop licks in the first jam killed.
I’ve been trying a bunch of compact form factor reverbs for my board and I’m happy to belatedly discover how good the 3 series reverb is but also a little bit pissed that I didn’t try it first.
So... THIS is what the "colors of effects" episode was about?

King's X is the bomb. I love them to death.
King X....wow....reminded me of them....gotta blast it out today
My favorite band since 1988 , just sick!!
*King's X group hug*
Love King's X! Perfect description of them. Dogman and Ear Candy were both huge albums for me.
Re trios, hard to beat The Police's first 3 or 4 albums. "Regatta De Blanc" is such a classic. Also King's X.
The Polices' sound arrested me & I stayed in their jail 4 a loooong time.
I was very happy there.
Grand Funk Railroad
Hell Yes King's X!!!
"Martian Outlaw" sounds like the working title for The Mandalorian
I just watch, listen to you jam, play along, and listen to you talk about gear. Very nice channel man. I hope you make a million. 🙃🤘
Just got in the Overdrive! I love it. I also have the Compressor on the way. Thank you so much for releasing such quality, budget friendly pedals!
Now work on giving us an album! These jams are too epic to not flesh out!
Chatting with Josh this morning, not once did he mention anything about the JHS 3 Series 🤔
I do think the 3 Series is a great way to get up-and-coming player's into affordable boutique pedals built in the USA.
Later on as they mature in playing abilities.. I believe they'll move on to seek out their voice. Therefore, everyone pretty much wins the end. Just my 3 cent's worth 😉

Favorite quote in the video:
Josh: "Let's add some delay and just rock out.
I've had the fuzz since it came out. Now I have the octave reverb. I love these 2 pedals very much
I really like the bias control on the Fuzz. Nice new line, glad you kept the format built to proper physical/durability standards.
Just got the reverb today, it's great. It just says "Reverb" no big flashy chassis, no oddly labeled knobs and most importantly.. the pedal sounds fantastic. I needed a reverb and I sure as hell got one, great work on this line.
I’m not even lying when I say that’s one of the best fuzz sounds I’ve ever heard
it reminds me of the dod carcosa, seems to be a similar circuit including the voicing toggle and bias. that pedal is my absolute favourite fuzz pedal.
@@ithemba carcosa is way more versatile
Thanks darillio now I gotta go n check out the d.o.d. corcosa! BUT I couldn't agree more that the new JHS paddles are killer sounding! Fuzz with mad versatility. Simple, clean presentation.
That initial story brought a tear to my eye...
You should do an episode where you go over your favorite EE/audio circuit textbooks or just ones that influenced your design the most. Or even just post a list online somewhere I'm just a textbook nerd/collector who likes to see which textbooks other people like.
Just bought chorus can’t wait to collect them all
24:51 I have the Fuzz 3 and I have to claim how good and complete it is.
Should make a variation with a black finish, with white graphics.
Brion Allan that would be awesome
Black Pedals Matter...
Ford - I will make you a car any color you want so long as it’s black
Could b called the Alternate Universe 3 Series!
Makes sense, doesn't matter how many knobs and toggle switches you have on a pedal when you only have one vacuum cleaner switch to turn it on or off live.
Gotta love that Beatles style tune. Absolutely stunning.
I especially love when the dog just wanders onto the set 🤣
Nick doesn’t get enough credit for tasty beats, fills and a clean, punchy drum sound to die for
Josh, my dad always says these all white pedals should've came with a box of crayons too
Josh is slyly one of the best guitarists of the 90's, riffs for days!
Might even be happy; even nicer.
on vinyl as well please
I'm finally getting a chorus pedal
What was stopping you? There are ones out there for well under 3 digits already.
Yea like a small clone
I’m finally switching my guitar from propane to electric
I highly recommend the Danelectro CoolCat from the 90’s, big metal body, 18V CE-2 clone. Sounds incredible. Best chorus Ive had. You can find em for like 60 bucks. And they’re stereo.
The mosky is only about $20 and sounds excellent.
You should call this the “Repo Man” series.
😁 That’s an awesome idea!
And why not 😋
What an inspiring video, quite the journey Josh sets us on LoL from a poetic opening, to the great pedal showcase, to the "i made these... but i cant take them where they need to go" challenge. And how smooth was Galactic Football Star
The jams on these videos are the best part! You guys take no freaking prisoners. Way more fun (and educational!) than the Jan. 6 hearings, which I was watching earlier.
the ending speech by Josh makes me wonder what he’d have been like in the 70s?! ✌🏻

@@bubu89136 power to the pedals!
I love that these look like a line of expensive skin care products. Gonna slather on some fuzz today!
An unknown gem of a 3 piece is The Exit. Especially the album "New Beat". Some great tones in there.
Loving the sound of that compresor! Nice groove guys.
You are so right about the BMW fanbois. That’s funny.
Just get some coloured electrical tape or some paint!
Honestly about to buy them before there is a lawsuit or some bullshit from BMW
that chorus jam makes my eyes sweat

Thank you, buying that compressor ASAP
