I had a 2001 gs300 and I must say it was one of my favorite cars aside the premium fuel and fluid costs. It was very reliable and super comfortable. If given an opportunity to own one again I would in a heartbeat.

I recently inherited a 130,000mile 04 GS300. EVERYTHING works, apart from the bloody expensive American Hi-Fi 🙄 Still nice and relaxing to drive and I’m enjoying the change of pace. Wearing winter tyres now and it’s unstoppable 😀
@@BanterEdits The amp in the boot is dead sadly. Lexus wanted £1700 for one. All the ones for sale seem to be previously fixed, very expensive or also knackered ☹️ Bluetooth speaker for me for a bit. New car arrives in Feb, so off to eBay after that. I’ll be sad to see it go though after 16years in the family.

I'm canadian , I've imported and owned a 1992 toyota soarer gt-tt for 12years . Replaced 30 sets of back tires , 24 oil changes , 2 x4 corners brake pads , and a rear diff input shaft seal. I've never been soft on it ! That was my 3rd/amusment car , I've let her get warm 100% and after it was full throttle/rpm/fullcut on co___ine, was really a good time in my life hahahaha . What a engine ! I'm still in contact with the guy I've selled it , one day he will say yes

Would love to see this restored to its former glory, deffo an NAT conversion. Maybe a challenge to see of you can source all the parts as cheap as possible.
I have a family fleet of 5 Toyota/Lexus cars and three have 2JZ-GE VVTi engines. Two have over 300,000 miles and one has 230,000 miles. They all run amazing with resealing and maintenance. Just like they said, take care of them up and enjoy. Replace the VVTi cam gear seal on high mileage cars and you'll fix one of the major leaks. It gives a decent bump in power from how it previously ran.
Thw blessing ive been looking for. I bought my 99 gs300 for 1k from a friend and rebuilt the bottom end (except pistons) myself. I started doing the NA-T build with the the manifold, piping, intercooler, turbo and tried to upgrade the intake manifold but i didn't do enough research on the ECTS-i. From what I hear is that its needed for the auto transmission to work properly so im working on fabricating that back on since a CD009 manual transmission swap is currently out of my budget
Really interesting seeing the wear after all those miles. Compression test would of been good. Also, are you sure it's the original engine, does it match the V5?

240 000 miles, engine looking good, the chassis in a decent condition, 190hp which is enough - YEAH, one could go back in time (if one had a time machine) and tell anyone that if they want a daily car which will grant you 200 000 miles without any problems if one does basic maintenance, and it has a 2JZ, then with all confidencr this Lexus is a must have. And when all comes down, whatost of us really want from a car, is to take us wherever and whenever we want, issue free, right?

Modern engines are disposable junk with so called "sports car" engines that this bogus poster above mentioned being the very worst offenders. Even Porsche forgot how to make conrods recently🤣 we've only been making conrods since the steam age. He will no doubt argue back too despite the fact I'm the one with a shop and have fixed upward of 5000 engines over the decades.
Well, I know it isn't as much of a thing in Europe in general as it is here in the states, but a heavier and longer car like this is not really set up, suspension and geometry wise, to be a great handling sports car for road tracks I think. It might be more possible to get it to be a capable GT car, but I would spec it to be a drag car before trying to make it work on a road course. It would take a lot more modification and compromise I think to make it work for that when considering what would need to be done outside of just more power.
I’ve got a 01 gs300 which I’ve NA-T and manual swapped as a drift car. It’s great to see the JZS16X platform get the love it deserves. Honestly such a underrated car. Just watch what the boys in Japan do with the Aristo out there (Toyota version of the GS300)
Are your internals stock on your gs im wanting to turbo my is300 but I don't wanna put rods and pistons and I only want 350 hp it only has less than 100k miles and I want it to stay reliable and would like to know what if any problems i would have and if you have had any thanks
nice video i saw many legendary engines like X16SZ Opel (Vauxhall) Astra MK3 1994and even you got a bit of too much money you can take some hp its a beast. Z18XE same company theyre bulletproof. Even the 2.5L DTI "Vauxhall" (well its an BMW engine) is still a legend from the year 1998 - 2002
My girlfriend has a 355k mile 2JZ and in the 3 years together it has only gone to the shop for some spark plugs/wires that needed to be replaced. Obviously, it had all the needed fluid changes as required. Much less trouble than the VQ I had is less than half the miles.

I took my car (Toyota Mark 2 Jzx110) to SRD couple months ago, can vouch for them they diagnosed and checked the car over and made an intake shield 👌
CT has the most watchable and relatable (for me in the drives a shitbox daily marketplace anyway) car content on TH-cam.
Even my 180k miles E46 has less oil leaks.
