Yo brother, you were in the Cape Cod Times newspaper for sleeping in the rotary at the base of the Bourne Bride. I saw the article on FB and the comment section was great. So many couldn’t believe you didn’t get arrested. Great episode. Keep up the good work
Your adventures are amazing to join you on. The calm demeanor, the insight into the area, pointing out critters and their names. All of it ties together into a wonderful medley.
One thing I really appreciate about you Wes is your cadence. You were so calm making that bagel in the morning and it made me realize every time I go on adventures similar to this I always feel rushed to do as much in the day as possible. Next time I will take notes from you and be intentionally more relaxed. Keep it up always enjoy your videos
Hi Wes , first I want you to know that you and your family are in our prayers and hope that your family emergency resolves with all good. As for your video, like I said before you always have amazing videos that are just beautiful. Me and my wife really appreciate all the hard work you do in the making of a TH-cam channel that is exciting for the whole family. We luv ya Wes😊

Nice one Wes good to hear the history of that place tied in with your night camp.keep it up can’t wait for you to upload your cross country drive, eventually if you get the chance would love to see you travel in every state in the USA and some info on what they are famous for watching from Australia.

I love how you share your research on local plants, animals and history. I have learned so much from you! Your photography editing is amazing too. I love how you looked up the train schedule and included the trains going by! 😀 I am grateful you had a safe return home, and fun adventure. Congratulations on 32.3K subscribers! 😄 If you can ever travel to southern CA, check out Bodie, CA. It's one of the coolest ghost towns in the U.S.! Hey Wes Great vid 👍There is a cool spot and abandoned bunker on big rock ridge Novato. The coordinates are 38.05538° N, 122.59902° W from Apple Maps. I always bike and hike past, it’s a cool building and also has cool views. Would make for a great video!
😅 watching another video of yours. I saw another one where you camped in the train bridge above the Delaware River. I can't in the same train bridge 35 years ago. Or more
I'm 72 yrs old and I love peanut butter...probably eat it around 250-280 days a year, peanut butter toast is my go to breakfast all winter. Really enjoyed this video 😊.
Man, bummer it was cut short I was looking forward to you experience the Yoop (wifes family is from the Upper peninsula) and Minnesota (so many places to camp in the land of 10,000 lakes). Hopefully youll find time and the capacity to do it, once things settle! Good luck, my man
What a cool little ghost town!! Sorry for whatever had to cut your trip short, but stuff happens. Your adventures are awesome, I like the history you told behind drawbridge and cleaning up the cabin before you left. Definitely stop in Texas, on your future trip to Florida. Safe travels and looking forward to the next video Also, do you go check the spots before you venture? Or is it more internet research type thing?
there really is a unique energy out there. i saw a clip of the final resident saying he just liked the way the place felt. even today it doesnt feel or sound like its in the heart of the silicon valley. much respect from one bay area Wes to another ✌️
Leave no trace! Good on you for cleaning up both your trash AND others! Being a stickler for leave no trace principles, I would have kicked the shiplap platform back into randomness too. If ever in Florida, let me know! I have some cool ideas for places you might want to camp.
Interesting old ghost town, imagining why they would start a town on a marsh, so neat to see remnants of the past left behind, what stories it could tell. Cool place to stealth camp, luv this. 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed this one, Drew! The bridge was the part I was most nervous for... was ready to jump off into the marsh if a train started coming through 😅 Thanks for your continued support 🙏

Hey Wes, now that we’re headed into cooler months, how about heading south into SoCal, Arizona, and New Mexico? Lots of interesting locations out that way!
Another great video, thanks for posting! I enjoy that you tell the history of the area that you visit, and have a meal that is inspired by the area. I look forward to your further adventures. Cheers.
Great adventure, Wes! That definitely looked like so much peaceful fun. And I think the shrimp stew turned out awesome even if it wasn't what you were aiming for!
Rooting for you and this channel Wes, and, ofc, do what you have to - post whenever or wherever - we, and I’m shore many more viewers to come, will be around for your adventures!
watched this episode several times... very educational...I went and watched other videos and searched websites about it...Thanks for a great adventure...
Part of my career is driving a box truck and have done that road trip across the nation many times! Whenever I pass cool little locations like this one I think of exploring them like you! Thanks for the great content.
Wow, you just camped in one of my favorite places ever. Glad to have you back. What about camping in the Air Force bunkers in Novato? One of them is open (and surprisingly clean). Might make for a cool video.
I like you had a safe tent to keep the critters out, I am not a fan of abandon buildings but your are so brave to walk in that swampy mud. Amazing how nature takes back what mankind did to natural wetlands.
Tent was definitely needed in this one!! I wonder how many years this town has left until nature completely reclaims it 🤔 Thanks again for watching, Betty!!
Nice way to wake up! Love seeing the local places in the bay. Bummer that you had to come back. But c'est la vie. Such is life. Can't wait to see what you have planned. Still waiting to see you camp near the Golden Gate. Idk how cool it would be, but there is an old abandoned "company town" called 'Cement' over here between Vacaville and Fairfield, ca. Right out side of Travis AFB. Regardless, hope everything is well.
@@WesWherever appreciate the video.just be careful where you camp around the bridge. Their security is on point. Their is an extremely small beach within feet of the north tower, on the west side of the bridge. I've eyeballed it for years. But I think it's too risky with tides, and security. The coastguard has a station at the foot of the bridge on the marin side. Thanks for the cool videos.
You mention it being ‘forbidden’ yet he goes, records his experience and uploads it.. Then he goes dark/hides when the last trains go by at night. I guess I’m hung up on the legality of all this?
@@TimTriesThings Stealth Camping is spending the night on public or open institutional land. This could be a traffic divider, park, or open Federal land. It is not homelessness, trespassing on private land or bothering people. It leaves no mark and does no harm. It is perfectly legal on most Federal land of the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management as Dispersed Camping. Sometimes it takes place on land where it is not expected. It has a certain edge in that it is not a conventional campground. If it is illegal, the level of public violation or transgression is very low. It might be similar to Riding Freight Trains or Hitch Hiking. Or sleeping in a Road Side Rest where camping is not allowed. The Stealth might be part of the excitement. I'd be curious about other points of view. Is it similar to Poaching in the Kings Forest? Is it like cutting across a vacant lot, or playing in a vacant lot? Does it harm anyone or damage property. Is it like theft? If it is a crime is it victimless? Who would be he victim? Is it ethical? I'd like to know.
I love that you love My home place of New England. I moved to Miami for a year and it literally just made me realize i live in the best place on earth up here. Been to 48 states also besides Hawaii and Alaska. Somebody told me Alaska was his fav out of all 50 states so I'm just STOKED to go explore up there. It was insane to me how many people down south had never seen snow, or even like rolling hills. Or even like big mountains like out in the west unlike the smaller ones we have. Its all beautiful in its own way and i REALLY enjoyed the culture everywhere I've lived / traveled. But nothing beats coming home to good ole New England!
New England is truly so special... nowhere else quite like it! I spent enough time there that it actually started to feel like home. Looking forward to going back :)
@@WesWherever We look forward to having you!!!! There's a lot of cool abandoned buildings / fire posts / old mills in the middle of nowhere. I live right next to Dartmouth College, and its beautiful up this way. LOVE IT!!!

Grew up close to here. Had a lot of fun exploring the area with my friends in high school. Minor correction is that the island was still inhabited up until 1979, but the most of population left in the late 1800s.
Great video, but that wood you used dor your tent is tongue and groove 'beaded board'.. Tongue and groove has a key on one side that fits into a middle slot on the next board. Lap board just has a cutout thst oerlaps the next board.... That narrow width style of beaded board is typical for paneling in the 1920s and 1930s., while the structure uses rough cut true 2x4s ( that are actually 2 inchesx 4 inches ) typical of the 1800s. So likely the beaded board was part of somebody fixing up their house at some point..
Awesome Wes! Glad you were able to get back and take care of what you needed to. If yoy ever come through NW Indiana, gotta check out Kingsbury Fish and Wildlife area. It was a old munitions plant during WWII. Alot of places to explore. Cheers!
Drawbridge hasn't actually been abandoned for 100 years. The town entered its terminal decline in the 1940s and the last resident left in 1979 so it's only been completely abandoned for around 45 years.
Wes!! So glad to see you back, buddy, but so sorry for your emergency. Hoping all is well. Praying for you. Really missed your content and appreciate you making the best of a difficult situation and still posting interesting and positive content. Another “cozy” place.😂
Hi again Martha! Glad you enjoyed this one :) I'm thankful I can keep keep sharing these fun adventures despite what might come my way... it's all so worth it! Yes this was another "cozy" place hahaha. Thanks for watching and being so supportive!
If you have never tried Keifer I strongly suggest it. Any stomach issues subside instantly and if you drink it regularly you will almost never have issues again. Cool video! I realized I have watched a few of your videos now so it’s only right to hit the subscribe and like button.
Another cool stealth adventure! Hope to see you back in New England... I was waiting to see where you camped in New Hampshire lol! A small correction on the lumber pattern stock you were calling shiplap... I can't help myself... I'm a lumber person haha! It's not that. It's T&G (tongue and groove), with an edge and center vee (V). In lumber nomenclature it might be identified as TG-ECV or some regional variation. Shiplap has an asymmetrical square edge milled on one side with an opposite side which lays over the adjacent piece... nothing fits "into" the adjacent piece as with the T&G you were sleeping on. A quick search will give you some profile diagrams if it's at all of interest. Keep it coming!
I can't wait to go back, New England is truly an enchanting part of the country... and now I have a lot of unfinished business there 😉 Thank you for the correction on the tongue & groove, I wish I could go back and edit it now... what an error haha 🥲 Appreciate you watching again!!

Thanks for your insight Petro, very knowledgeable!
Glad to see you back on and things are good after you took care of them. Look forward to more adventures.

Amazing video
Nice one. Safe travels...
Yeahh, a new Wes Wherever video!
Nice camp and explore. Welcome back!
Looking forward to more adventures!
Really enjoy your videos. Great information about places I would have never known about.
try American Flats Silver City NV.
You can see it from the V&T Railroad.
Is the old graffiti mill still intact?

If you come back south ,there is an abandoned tug boat on the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Ga may be an interesting place to camp.DALLMYD has a video of it on his channel.
Hell yeah, longer videos. Sick.
Glad you appreciate them :)
I grew up 5 minutes away from that exact place. The mountain range behind you is called mission peak one of the most popular hiking spots in the Bay Area
Wes, you never disappoint! Thanks for another great adventure! Come caving in Kentucky when you return to your road trip!
