      For me, it was Streetstar that got me into watching Vogue videos. Around the 3:00 mark, there's a dancer in a purple sweater must've inspired Leiomy. I love it.

      So y’all think this is where Madonna got her inspiration from for her song Vogue? Or are they inspired by Madonna? The dance seems very similar in her video.

      Energy Guru What you are witnessing in the video is what inspired Madonna’s “vogue” song. Not the other way around. You can’t take ballroom away from us. Us LGBTQIA+ blacks and Latinos INVENTED vogue. Learn your lesson.

      Tyler Starr if you don’t have the mental capacity to have conversations that helps someone to become a little more knowledgeable... And if you’re not helping enlighten then it’s probably best you keep your mouth closed and let some one with class and civility take charge. I simply asked some question so that i can learn lessons and to help my research.l and i was very respectful about it. where did anyone try to take ballroom away from anybody? You’re probably not even into ballroom. So please move around because you don’t know how to inform anyone of anything, and you don’t know anything so let the real ones step forward.

      Why are you telling people to forget "Pose" when it brought Voguing back to the spotlight, introduced many new people to it & really let the people know what the culture was about. Pose is an absolute masterpiece of a television show & I highly recommend for everyone to watch it even if they aren't necessarily into this type of stuff, it can turn you & sooner or later you find yourself vogueing 💃🏻💅🏼Ryan Murphy is a genius & he picks his actors/actresses well to play the parts & they all did an OUTSTANDING job along with the people who chose such a beautiful soundtrack for the show! It REALLY showed how these times were & brought to light many important issues so Pose should be anything but forgotten 🗿

Back in the day you had to create your own signature moves, they used to watch their shadow and let the music speak to them. That’s one of the most special parts about performance to me, it should be YOUR OWN. UNIQUE. Nowadays people vogue with stupid faces and their tongue out, do backflips and silly dances into dips. Is there anyone from the NYC gay club scene still around, i've been hearing that so many of those beautiful people i use to see in the clubs are no more, I was so busy with trying to be a star that i didn't realize people were leaving us, my God, pls tell me that a lot of us are still around, i've been trying to find out about Freddie, and Mister and a past friend named Stanley from queens who went into the army.

    ok, i need a herstory lesson please: i assume these are gay men (and a few women) .....but why do they have these names? i recognized a few fashion designer's names....are they like drag names? or are these guys drag queens out of drag? were these spontaneous events or was that a competition? why are there no white people? is this black culture? i'm confused! oh...and they are all absolutely fabulous, i wish i could move my body like that!

    • @DKWill09
      @DKWill09 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. It’s kind like their stage name. Some are made up. Some are well known fashion designers/entertainers or whatever. Some are in drag and some are trans some are women some are men. And it was a mix of both spontaneous and completion. And yes. This started in the underground world of black and Latino lgbtq members. It became opened after Madonna “stole” the scene with her vogue song
