MK7.5 GTI EQT Stage 2 vs EQT IS38 Turbo Upgrade

- Dyno comparison on this MK7.5 GTI. First we run it on EQT Stage 2 software with the stock IS20, the we swap out for EQT IS38+ Turbo and few other modifications to support it. A IS38 turbo upgrade on a MK7 GTI is a great upgrade for the price. Both HP and TQ gains throughout the power band. Tuning is done through a COBB Accessport.

More powerzz.
how much psi does that particular tune push (the is38 one)?
Basically this is the k03 → k04 swap of the modern era, but it never gets old!
Ya kinda the same
Yes but better
I'm still running a K03, perhaps one day....
@@cupofmozzarella word of advice, prepare for spending in supporting mods if you want to do this turbo swap
I’ll never understand half the comments on these videos. 90% of the questions people are asking are answered in the video lmao
Lol thank you
I get excited when I see you guys have uploaded! I’m local from CH I got a city golf but before the face lift so it’s a true mk4 2.slow 😎
Love your content.
Don't forget to add +5 hp for hood vents and such
Dam car is sick!!! We would love to see some flybys and sounds 🔥🔥
We Care Baby ..!!! All the way from Maryland 🦀. Nice work guys 👏👏
This shii sick🔥
From across the pond, nice car but the positioning of the harness anchor point needs moving to be safe.
I would love to see a compound setup on a GTI or Golf R. I imagine the engine would need a good bit of internal work done to handle it, but that would be a sick project!
... and I wish I had the money for it 😂
Completely off topic from this video but what are your steps of diagnosing and fixing a P0106 I’ve done Spark plugs, New PCV system, new coils I have a map sensor waiting to put it on I’m thinking is still carbon build up
You guys are solid and i really enjoy your content. Seems like you really like the 1.8t. I do too. If you could do a proper 1.8t SAI and garbage, proper delete vid, that be great....for off public road comp purposes of course. If you have already done this, I apologize for asking. I have looked all over the tube and everything I have found leaves much to be desired.
That information is readily available on the internet already.
@@COMotorsports there will always be a demand for simple and easy-to-understand videos like those. One of those videos will easily pull in many thousands of views and can act as an intro to the channel. If you guys make an SAI, EVAP etc delete video it will pay off.
Did you change the tune when you went from the stock turbo to the IS38? Pretty awesome GTI with some nice upgrades. I really like that Corn flower blue!
Definitely requires a software change
I drive a damm chrysler now...i miss MVOC..just a blast of a time..looking back in the side mirror to a sea of VWs..Audi..taking over the night life in Moncton..10 years ago i did my honeymoon on a rally.....
I’m learning how much hp IS38 can do .nice video help understand
That on 91.. a good e30 tune get a is38 400 to the wheels
@@korey420 The only is38 cars that have done 400+ on an accurate dyno were E85. E30 isnt gonna pick up 55 whp. EQT uses pretty much all the boost regardless of fuel, they just increase timing. My GTI has an is38 and is custom flex tuned, ive run up to E40 and it doesnt make 400 on a dyno i trust. It would 100% make 400 on a couple dynos i've used in the past with other cars but it aint accurate.
@@CarguyloganTo your point, it's probably better to talk 60-130 or quarter mile trap speeds if we want a more apples to apples comparison due to Dyno variation. But it think when it comes to knowing the capabilities of a setup there are enough of these to go around to have a decent range of expectations. It's a nice set up for sure, esp for the money if your on E.
Anyone know which CF mirror caps he went with on this car?
Great info as I am currently deciding on the is38+ myself. What fuel is the car running ? Pump 91 or 93 or E?
Normally they run everything on pump 91. They don’t have 93 in that area.
@@natepike3211 amazing. Wish you guys be closer to do my install. But I am now fully committed on this is38+ venture.
Guys regarding the break in period of an engine that's been rebuild with bigger forged pistons/rods/valves/etc (in this case a VR) how many kilometres/miles should be covered and at what interval would you recommend the oil changes be as well?
We basically do a heat cycle, change oil then break engine in on dyno making peak power.
Corn flower blue
It’s surprising to me how much tq the is20 makes while hp is still below 300. I have a mk6 gti with the k04 and from your other videos it seems like it’s closer to equal hp/tq numbers. Maybe 310/310? How would this stage 2 compare to a mk6 k04 car? Obviously waaaay torquier but would it be slower if hp is down?
We've made similar torque on K04's as these on the right setup. The engine (fsI weak rods) or fueling (TSI or FSI) tend to be the limitation. The standard 2.0T K04 will make close to these numbers on a setup that can support it.
Say you have an intercooler, downpipe, exhaust, and running stage 2 eqt tuning with the dsg tuning from eqt, intake, turbo inlet.
Can you throw a is38 on it and run 93 tune?
With a proper tune yes.
What turbo upgrade would you recommend on a MK6 Golf GTI
All depends on power goals, and budget. Fueling becomes the expensive part with those.
Are the whp and wtq lines soo smooth at the end because they are an average of the runs?
Nope that's just a proper tune for the fuel that it's running.
i noticed you guys dont have any mk8 tuning vids!? willing to sacrifice my mk8 for a stage 3 tune lol
We tune them from time to time, but covid killed MK8's sales around here when they came out as they were impossible to get. So they're slow to get to the modification stage here. In fact I may see one MK8 a week in my travels, they're just not as plentifully.
I’m surprised the Is38 is only pushing 345whp on a Dynojet. I’m getting 380whp with the CTS ko4x on my Mk6. I’m. guessing it’s the OTS tune, let Alex from Stratified get ahold of it!! 🤪
What fuel? and what fuel setup?
My gti with a is38 and custom tune made 420 whp on E48
Ever dragy it 60-130?
Thats like comparing apples to oranges mate. Of course yours will make more with a custom tune and E48
Whose car is this? Looks familiar
Is a HPFP needed with these mods if running 93 octane?
With base is38 it is not needed, it actually made me wonder why did he change it 🤔
it 100% is not, but if you plan on running E to take full advantage of what the IS38 has to offer than yes.
Different car on your dyno Apr is38 did 322whp and 348wtq….eqt ftw
A lot of it has to do with mods. Or highest HP is38 so far has been 351whp on 91oct and that was with APR. So focus on mods.
@@COMotorsports awesome. I’ve ran both and both are powerful!
I'm surprised the customer went with a EQT IS38+ over a Vortex or XL considering he paid for the labor. I'd expect the overall cost of parts and labor was in the $7-8k range?
The price difference between a Vortex and an IS38+ is SUBSTANTIALLY wide in terms of margins. All options for the latter runs shy of $2k. The Vortex in the same sense is more than double the cost. I'm in the same boat with my A3 and for the sake of cost, the IS38 on E on OCCASION is plenty for me as a daily commuter
Thats on 91 right? I know a e30 tuned is38 makes 400 to the wheels (give or take)
91oct.
@@COMotorsports e30 and e85 is stupid and garbage. You won't be able to find it in the near future, so go head and tune to a fuel that wont exist in a couple years.
@@jameslynn2357 👍
can you ad the is38 to a mk6 R
@@ronnieronnie8549 no
I wanna see your drag car sticking it to some crappy hondas!
Do you guys have a referral code for eqt that help out Your channel?
@@raindeergames6104 we do not sorry
Ok so O have a pretty important question..... do you trust the EQT system enough to tell me with confidence that i can order their turbo, software and and Cobb and I'm not going to have a mountain of issues. I have year of modding experience building like 100 plus different turbo cars and I do so tuning of standalone. But never done software. I live iniddle east and im super disappointed in the local shop that did my software for my mk7 2019 GTI. I want to do it myself now. @COMotorsports
@@raindeergames6104 Look at our channel, and the cars and video's we've done using their software. Should answer all your questions.
What fuel? ⛽️
Pretty sure it's in the video, but 91oct.
Wow, that's about what my Uni stage 2 Mk8 sits at. No tcu tune yet, so I can't hit the 361 hp that they claim, probably sitting between 325 and 330 hp as is. Can't wait to put a p-max turbo on after the tcu gets unlocked.
Bullshit! I cared about the drag car vid, but I'm just one man!!!😂😂
I care about the drag car!!!!!!
mk1 content...clayton....
