Gem, I think you should get rid of the music in the background when you're looking it over. It's more interesting hearing what you got to say about it. Just my opinion.
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video!! A lot of readers (including myself) really want to get into comics, but sometimes it seems too daunting. This makes it a lot easier!!!
My 2c as someone who has gotten into omnis hard during this year: 1) See if you actually want something popular as continuity fear is a thing (story calls out to some other events) - for this self-contained omnis are good (The Planetary Omnibus, Invisibles, Gotham Central (seems recently OOP), etc). 2) Is the omni out of print? - this seems an ongoing niggle with most lists such as this since it might be a great story, but if it's OOP then it's not much use. 3) If you're someone who is more interested in the art, you should look around and see which artist works might interest you the most. 4) Used/damaged in shipping/dinged omnis are ok - you can usually score great deals if you look around for omnis that might have their seal broken which drops down the price to silly levels (got the Snyder Batman for 30$ 5) Slowly but surely accept that you won't be able to read everything that has happened to historic characters (not to mention many people might see their earlier stuff as being hokey and not a fun read, but it depends on each person). 6) Many start issues routinely are for free on comixology/publisher websites, so it might be a good idea to go through that and see if you think it's worth to put your money down. IF you'll start liking omnis and are thinking of continuing that route - buy a Kallax shelf from Ikea and resign yourself to the fact that you'll possibly overpay for some OOP items (recently got that Spidey VS Venom omni in the UK, ouch... :) And remember, have fun! Great vid from Gem as per usual matey!
As somebody who just getting into reading comics, I see these lists then I go take a look on amazon and so many of these books are just unfeasible for me price wise. I think I'll stick to image comic trade paperbacks
@@My_Toy_Soldiers yeah I get that. It can be ridiculous. Also research is key. Example, I am looking for batman snyder omnibus. Amazon £100. Checked around and speedyhen do it for £57. Crazy price variant

I lived in New Orleans and nobody read comics when I was a kid. But in the 90s BSI comics down here sold the hell out of Death of Superman. Great book man. Doomsday dog walked the whole Justice League.

Thanks for sharing! I'm interested in Wolverine,Uncanny X-Force, and Infinity Saga. Hubby told me about some of them and I was interested, but I thought it daunting to find all the books. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction to make it easier to jump into.
Loved the video. It would be great if you could do more videos like this. Things like: best stories for a specific character, best stories from a major author, good jumping points for a new reader of a specific character and so on.
Great picks! Especially like Uncanny X-Force, Spider-Man/Venom, New 52 Batman and Loeb/Sale Bats. Kinda surprised Ultimate Spidey and Whedon's Astonishing didn't make the list. Those are some of the first stories I recommend as they're both great and accessible.
For Marvel, definitely overlooked the Frank Miller Daredevil omnibus or the companion. Both work so well at introducing the character and show why the comic medium is amazing.
This was a good idea, should get a lot of new subs this way. You could also do books in print, OOP books that are getting reprinted, and Omni vs absolute pros and cons.
Who else went to the website, just to discover that every omnibus he mentioned is out of stock lol! Great vid. Really need to stop watching, my wish list is ridiculous now.
Gem thanks for this vid man! I’m on a mission this morning to get some good/huge material to dive into and I’m going to look around my comic shops and in stock trades. Great video! I picked up my first Omni (Wolverine) with New X-men on the way. Glad to know what to be looking for next. Already looking forward to the sequel to this video with 11-20!
This was awesome Gem. Don't forget the Batman/Robin Loeb/Sale omni also has Catwoman: When in Rome. The only issue I have is now that they have re-issued the Wolverine Omnibus, why can't they get it right? What I mean is that the ideal Wolverine Omnibus would be book-ended by the awesome 6-issue Wolverine: Origin story by Quesada/Kubert/Isanove in the beginning and Old Man Logan by Millar/McNiven at the very end. They also left out Wolverine: Alone from Uncanny X-Men #133, the Wendigo/Alpha Flight two-parter right after Jean Grey's death in Uncanny X-Men #139-140, the incredible Barry Windsor-Smith (cover art only) of The Last Run for Uncanny X-Men #212, the gut-wrenching crucifixion of Wolverine on the cover of Uncanny X-Men #251 (the three most historic comics crucifixions include Conan from A Witch Shall Be Born (Barry Windsor-Smith on the art or John Buscema, I forget), Green Lantern crucified to the tail of a plane in the Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams run in Green Lantern/Green Arrow #89), and the Wolverine crucifixion from Uncanny #251); the Return of Weapon X storyline from Ultimate X-Men, and finally the 5-issue Wolverine Goes to Hell. Why they have left all this out is beyond me. I absolutely agree they should include the 3 issues from Incredible Hulk, the Barry Windsor-Smith Weapon X storyline, and the Claremont/Miller 4-issue mini-series. Therefore, in my humble opinion, the ideal Wolverine Omnibus would have the following in this order: 1. Wolverine: Origin 2. Weapon X (by the great Barry Windsor-Smith - the only artist from the late 1960s that could rival Neal Adams) 3. Hulk #180-182 (Wolverine first appearance) 4. Uncanny X-Men #133: Wolverine Alone (takes place in the Hellfire Club basement) 5. Uncanny X-Men #139-140 Wolverine solo adventure after Jean's death - introduces The Wendigo/Alpha Flight 6. Claremont/Miller 4-issue mini-series (failed samurai in Japan) 7. Uncanny X-Men #212: The Last Run (featuring Barry Windsor-Smith Wolverine cover) 8. Uncanny X-Men #251 crucifixion of Wolverine 9. Return to Weapon X storyline (Ultimate X-Men) 10. Wolverine Goes to Hell from Wolverine 1-5 (Jason Aaron) 11. Old Man Logan (Millar/McNiven)
I think the music during overhead shot is fine. I also think it'd be a cool idea if during the overhead shots in the corner there was a screen showing you so we can see you talking about the book while you flip through.
Great list! I've started collecting thanks to you a year and a half ago. On my own already have half the Marvel omni's you listed :) 'stretch those spines yall'

No Darkhorse makes me sad, haha. A lot of theirs have now come out in softcover and are really affordable, although I prefer their Library Editions. Books larger than Omni's for the artwork but not as thick, so they are more manageable. This is going to sound weird, but i fix things for a living, been turning wrenches my whole life. Now that I'm getting fairly old, my wrists aren't as strong as they used to be. So reading some of my Omni's and holding them can be a bit of a chore. Maybe I'm going senile as well, because i have no idea why I rambled through all that, haha.
I am a new comic guy especially when it comes to Omnis. My one and only one I own is Batman (Synder/Capullo). If there was a recommendation for a second Batman Omnibus. What would it be?. Itching to get another but wanna get it right. Really liked the artwork on Synder/Capullo

Well in terms of your Marvel selections I have managed to pick up 4 of them and other "infinity Gauntlet" being on pre-order together with "Infinity Crusade". Here in the UK the arrival of the reprints for Uncanny X-Force and Wolverine have been rather patchy, to say the least. I had both of them on pre-order since last August. Some Uncanny stock became available "out of the blue" last month and similarly Wolverine suddenly became available last week. Of course this being the Wolverine reprint with a flat spine. What also turned up last week was Amazing spider-man by JMS Volume 2 whose availability in the UK was limited. Talking of limited availability I've got Sensational She-hulk Omnibus on it's way to me! Fingers crossed that my Silver Surfer pre-order is also fulfilled, another Omnibus that has immediately gone OOP.
Oops I should have mentioned another one that became available unexpectedly last week was Amazing X-Men Joss Whedon and John Cassaday Omnibus that was another one that I had on pre-order for many months.
@@leslieturner8276 You've been lucky. I've had each of the books you've mentioned pre-ordered long since. Only JMS Spidey and Astonishing X-Men have been fulfilled. Waiting to see what happens with Silver Surfer.
@@davidgraham8299 I believe that further copies of Uncanny X-Force and Wolverine are going to be available. As to when you get them it depends on you have pre-orders with. Since direct market online comic stores (like Forbidden Planet) will be sourced from Diamond (at least for Marvel, DC is more complicated now they have indicated they are splitting from Diamond), others will get their omnibuses from other suppliers. Typically I use Amazon UK, Speedyhen and Forbidden Planet. I wish you the very best of luck in getting your remaining pre-orders.
Appreciate this vid bro...been thinking about starting at the beginning with green lantern...he’s the hero I’m most interested in, but know the least about
Definitely going to pick up some of these. Death and Return of Superman for the memories. Green Lantern. I think John's did some of his best creating there. Infinite Gauntlet, never read the whole story. Thanks for the ideas.

Yo I liked the music, love hearing your thoughts too though. Maybe you could incorporate both. Great video though! I def have a few of these on my list now. Stay happy and healthy good sir!
I would've put in Geoff John's Aquaman or Deathstroke or iZombie. Just cause of their prices are kinda low for omnis, which would be good for newer readers on a budget.
Me to I liked it before I watched it because I feel is important to have this videos to bring people in to the hobby. Also planet hulk is top 3 for me ever so happy to see it get love.
PSA: Green Lantern Omnibus Vol. 2 has recently gone out of print. I had to pick it up at Target but their stock is running low. Amazon has it as well but stock is running low there, as well. Pick it up while you can before it hits whale status.
The Death of Superman was one of the first issues that I bought when I was around 11 or 12 years old. Those pages at 2:44 - 2:50 still hit me the same way, even 20 years later 😢😂
I like how comprehensive this list is. I feel you can include more titles to the list.
This topic demands a Part 2.
Gem, I think you should get rid of the music in the background when you're looking it over. It's more interesting hearing what you got to say about it. Just my opinion.
I agree with all of the above
Yeah ditch the music.
I dunno man, I thought it was ok
I agree the music is great when your statues are rotating on the disk but for the omnibus reviews I like to hear what you have to say
I’ve recommended ultimate Spider-Man omnibus to friends unfamiliar with marvel, seems to be an easy read and gets people into Spider-Man.
Unfortunately it's only half a run and OOP.

My 2c as someone who has gotten into omnis hard during this year:
1) See if you actually want something popular as continuity fear is a thing (story calls out to some other events) - for this self-contained omnis are good (The Planetary Omnibus, Invisibles, Gotham Central (seems recently OOP), etc).
2) Is the omni out of print? - this seems an ongoing niggle with most lists such as this since it might be a great story, but if it's OOP then it's not much use.
3) If you're someone who is more interested in the art, you should look around and see which artist works might interest you the most.
4) Used/damaged in shipping/dinged omnis are ok - you can usually score great deals if you look around for omnis that might have their seal broken which drops down the price to silly levels (got the Snyder Batman for 30$
5) Slowly but surely accept that you won't be able to read everything that has happened to historic characters (not to mention many people might see their earlier stuff as being hokey and not a fun read, but it depends on each person).
6) Many start issues routinely are for free on comixology/publisher websites, so it might be a good idea to go through that and see if you think it's worth to put your money down.

Me to I liked it before I watched it because I feel is important to have this videos to bring people in to the hobby. Also planet hulk is top 3 for me ever so happy to see it get love.
The Death of Superman might be my most wanted omnibus but the new printing is oop again
Your videos are mint. I want every book in that video haha. Just need to find them in the UK
PSA: Green Lantern Omnibus Vol. 2 has recently gone out of print. I had to pick it up at Target but their stock is running low. Amazon has it as well but stock is running low there, as well. Pick it up while you can before it hits whale status.
Hold up, you telling me targets have Omnis?? I always go to their book section but never find anything
superdragonz1 sorry, should clarify. It’s online BUT they are running a special right now, buy two, get one free.
amazing video keep up the great content
amazing content keep it up bro
Awesome books! Love all of your videos, as always!
The one book I want is The Infinity Gauntlet - everything else is secondary!
I hesitated too long on the Superman Omni and now its gone. This is a really great list!
I hesitated on Batman Sale/Loeb omni and it’s gone too 😭
The Death of Superman was one of the first issues that I bought when I was around 11 or 12 years old. Those pages at 2:44 - 2:50 still hit me the same way, even 20 years later 😢😂
for reals
Great and useful video!!! Thanks
Great vid! My first Omni’s will be that Wolverine & X-Force! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Aye they’re not going to be my first but definitely will get those Omnis I’m sure as hell that X-force will sell out in a few hours
Good stuff as usual. Thanks for sharing
Great video, this will get us a lot of new Gemenites ;)
How's the binding for the Geoff John Green Lantern though? Is it good?
The book feels a little loose, but no major problems yet. Had them for about 5 years now
@Gem Mint Collectibles That's great! I hope you keep making videos like this. It's very helpful for newbies like me. 🤗
