I love your channel man!!Batman resonated with me so much as a kid, my parents said when I was a baby all they had to do was turn on Batman on VHS or cable and I’d be mesmerized for hours. My entire childhood from 10 months old to 11 years old I had frequent life threatening seizures and every time I woke up in the hospital my dad was right next to me reading out loud Batman comic books trying to hold back tears. To this day we still read new Batman comics when we can and we religiously watch the Nolan movies and Burton movies in a marathon a couple times a year.
Thank you for sharing this story with me. I hope things have improved health wise for you, but that’s so wonderful you could share Batman with your dad! Seriously beautiful!
@@willsherman4044 my dad would read Frank Miller’s year one and DKR the most frequently when I was in the hospital so I’m partial to those being my favorite because I’ve heard and read them the most! Batman Hush also holds a special place in my heart because that was the first graphic novel my dad bought me after my final scan and the doctors told us I can start getting off my seizure medication
My favourite DC Omnibus has been Gotham Central. Took me by surprise as I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. But I am so happy I got it. 10/10 would recommend.
@@TBATB: Don’t know yet… I think I prefer the absolute format over omnibuses. I’ve decided to focus on female characters when it comes to collecting comic books so it’ll probably be one on a cool female character 😊
So my pick for absolutes with awesome female characters (and I don’t know what’s still in print) Absolute Scarlet Absolutes Promethea (coming back next year) Absolute WW by Azzarello Absolute WW Gods & Mortals Later this year we are getting Absolute Mr. Miracle which has my favorite Big Barda moments!
This is a great list! I genuinely liked your explanation for each omni and why it would be good for first time readers. I wasn't even interested in some of these omnis, but you kinda turned me around on checking them out. Great job, Jake!
My favorite dc omnibus that you missed has to be green lantern by Geoff Johns. Also the Alan Moore swamp thing absolutes deserve a mention. Cool video, gained a new subscriber. 😊
Haha I love swamp thing but it doesn’t have an omnibus yet! I included Green Lantern in my first version of this list that I did over a year ago, but now that I’ve read the stories again I think the huge events like Corps War and Blackest Night are even better and more impactful after reading more DC comics first and knowing who all those characters that come back are!
I really appreciate your channel. I got into reading comics this year after getting the Watchmen collectors box set from my local Ollies after my original paperback copy was ruined in a roll over accident. So far I've read Dark Knight, Paul Dinis Dark Night, Batman New 52 series through Zero Year and the first trade paperback of Spider-Punk. I haven't gotten any omnis yet but I keep eyeing the Jeph Loeb Batman because I enjoyed the Long Halloween movie and you even suggested it last year :)
Geoff John’s by Green Lantern is by far my favorite Omni set. I was trade waiting as a kid on it because I didn’t have a comic book store near me but I did have a Barnes and Noble that made sure they’d keep them in stock for me. I’m a massive Star Wars fan and that was the first superhero series that made me feel what Star Wars did
This reminds me a lot of this video that came out last year from this channel called The Brave And The Boys. I think it was called Top 10 DC omnibus for new readers. That was a pretty good video!
Hope I’m not too late, great video regardless. I’ve always like the ideals of WW. Strength, Smarts, Peace, and of course her beauty. While it isn’t her most traditional story I loved Wonder Woman by Brian Azzarello & Cliff Chiang (and plan on reading George Perez’s run eventually)
My favorite is Batman by Scott Snyder simply because it's nostalgic for me. The first time I actually read a comic physically was when a friend in middle school lent me The Court of Owls book. I loved the story and Greg Capullo's art is stunning.
Hello. I currently don’t have a favorite DC omnibus because I don’t have any, yet. I’ve been just focusing on Marvel and becoming such an expensive hobby that I haven’t bought any. I do want to get the 2 Batman omnis though. I do have V for Vendetta 30th anniversary, Batman year one and Sweet Tooth compendium. First time here. Great stuff. Subscribed!!!!!!!
Thank you for the kind words! When I first started collecting I bought the sweet tooth compendium too! I know some collectors want everything oversized and hardcover but compediums are such an excellent value! All I want is more people to discover comics and compendiums are a perfect price point!
My favorite Omni is The Question by O’Neil and Cowan, Vol. 1. I read it at the right time in my life - after I nearly failed school, lost some friendships partly because of my own actions, and was trying to improve and be better. While obviously different than what Vic Sage was doing, it resonated with me heavily, and those first 27 issues constitute my favorite comic book run. (I also just love that side of the DCU - the street side - Question, Mike Grell’s Green Arrow, Batman, etc).
That is an awesome story man! Being better is something we should all strive for and I’m glad you put the work in to improve your life just like Vic Sage!
Love your choices soooo much bro ! Well thought out ! DC has so many amazing Omni’s and is on fire for what they’re releasing next year. One of my favorite DC omni’s of all time is Deathstroke by Christopher Priest. An incredible character defining fun. Well done vid Jake. 🔥
Sandman Omnibus I had to do a book report before I graduated high school and I had just recently bought it at the time too, so my first read through of Sandman was pretty fun.
Favorite omnibus of all time (not just DC) is Sandman vol 1. I didn't have too many other DC omnis, but my favorite non-Vertigo omni is probably Flashpoint.

Brightest Day is my favorite DC omni. It bought back so many of my favorite characters and gave a good launching point for Geoff Johns Aquaman run which reignited my love for comics as a whole.
My favorite omnibus is one you mentioned in this video: Batman by Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo. I was in junior high when the run started and it ended when i graduated from high school. It's the best Batman run imo.

Goodness, my favorite DC omnibus? I think the Grayson Superspy Omnibus is probably my favorite. Plus, it goes directly into my favorite run of Nightwing by Seeley.
Hi, first love you videos- you helped me get started with dc comics and I love your “top best” videos. My favorite omnibus is Batman knightfall - first because it’s my first omnibus and second, great storyline with bane love it (Don’t live in US😕)
My favorite omni by far is Ed Brubackers Gotham Central, really love the new perspective added for these characters. Ever since i read Batman: Year One, i knew i had to get more of gothams corrupt police departament. Enjoyed every damn page
So I got into reading/collecting via Omnibus format just over a year back. Initially I considered myself neutral over any Marvel/DC stance. As you point out with your breakdown, there's a lack of Suicide Squad omnibus (whilst looking at Marvel, they have five Thunderbolts omnibus?). Even the Tomasi Superman omnibus, the fact you've got Superman as a father will instantly push away many new casual readers who aren't familiar with Superman as a father or feel it's some later down the line story that's away from the core sagas of the character. Hopefully DC do put more omnibus out, I'm excited to grab Knightfall Vol 2 next year to add to Vol 1 (a set that were high on my list as I started collecting in 2024)
DC had their collected editions department gutted and then they had several giant mergers. But I think we are finally in a good place! They are really stepping up their game on 2025!
@@TBATB Really hope so, did see a few of the solicits for the next year, the *Deathstroke* Omni is one that I'm aiming to grab and I just recall I recently grabbed that *Lobo* compendium which I'd have been happier to grab as a omnibus hardcover style title.
@@TBATB For real! Although, just getting it collected is good. Lol, also, knowing DC, they'll put out an omnibus in two years after making everyone buy the compendium first.
I also liked the New 52 Justice League. I agree it’s a good jumping on point for new readers. Did that have near the end of it the Darkseid War? That was such a great story with Jason Fabok art, who is on Rook Exodus now and just an incredible artist. For Secret Six, I think you called him Hatman but I believe that is the Batman villain the Mad Hatter. But agree Secret Six is amazing.
Yes it has Darkseid War and makes the previous Darkseid War omnibus no longer needed! You are totally right! I meant mad hatter. I think I confused my self saying catman, and then just rhymed it to hatman haha
My favorite DC omni is vol. 1 of Grant Morrison's Batman, precisely because it is the first omni I ever bought and its the one I am currently reading now!
@@TBATB Yeah it's a great list. Supes has always been my dude since I was like 8 and saw Superman 3, yeah I didn't know it was not the greatest till later but watching Clark fight off his evil side was like the coolest thing ever I thought back then haha .
My favorite Omni so far is Justice League International Omnibus 1. I’m still trying to get a hold of the other two, but I love seeing the Justice League operate and exist in a way without its “main players” giving spotlight to other heroes just as deserving who weren’t as recognizable at the time.
I loved vol 1! I use to have 1&2 but sold them to help pay for my wedding since I didn’t think vol 3 would ever come out. Once it did I bought vol 1 again but haven’t got vol 2 and 3 yet.
I'm not a new reader but I love these lists because I have a lot of holes to fill with newer runs. My favorite is Batman by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale. It's the one I keep going back to. I really want the Superman Rebirth based on all of the reviews.
Batman fan here. My favorite omnibus is one you mentioned: Batman by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo (volumes 1 & 2). Runner up is the Paul Dini Batman omnibus.
Hi great list definitely going to check out the question. At the moment Mt favourite dc omni has to be green arrow longbow hunters that was really good
My favourite Omni is the Snyder Capullo Batman, especially vol 1, some of the best art and stories you’ll read, I reread the run every year and get new things out of it everytime
I have not read flash by Williamson, but that art you put up on screen looks incredible. My favorite dc omni (from the ones i read) is batman by Loeb & sale. Awesome stories, awesome artwork.
I was so tempted to include it and if I had allowed my self 2 Batman spots it’s a no brainer. My logic behind including Snyder’s run instead was that it opens you up to more characters and is good to read before metal, which is awesome. If I was making a list of my favorite standalone Batman stories Loeb and Sale win no question!
So if you ask anyone in the world they will tell you not to start with final crisis. But you know what? It was my first comic book and I loved it! It can be confusing but you should still try it! Someday when you’ve read more you can go back and try again!
I haven’t read any omnibuses yet since I’m new to comics so I don’t have a favorite. However my most anticipated omnibus is Nightwing by Tom Taylor. Thanks for recommending some omnis to start reading.
RIP my bank account. So glad I stumbled upon your channel. I've already bought 2 omnis and one of the DC compact editions since I discovered your channel less than a week ago!
@@TBATB I needed this advice. I have a tendency to become obsessive when I find a new hobby, and with all the choices available to me I get overwhelmed and want them all. My wife is already giving me a side eye.
Trust me, it’s easy to over spend money, but realize the real currency is shelf space. Even if I tell you it’s the best book ever sampled digitally! I put myself in a lot of debt when I first started and had to work my way out. What’s worse than debt is mediocre books in my shelf!
I have one a did about a year ago! Sadly anytime I cover non DC comics my videos tend to struggle. I have cultivated a large DC following and TH-cam hates change.
My favorite DC omnibus is The Flash silver age vol 1, it was my first ever omnibus and holds a special place in my heart, and it has the first appearances of Barry Allen, Wally West, Captain cold and other famous rogues, and it has Flash #123 the introduction of the multiverse with Jay Garrick meeting Barry Allen
I gotta say, I started reading omnis with snyder and capullos Batman run, since then I’ve collected a couple of extra Omni’s and I’m currently reading dark nights metal and I wouldn’t have done it any other way-metal was worth the wait. Also my favorite omnibus is snyder and capullo Batman volume 2 bc it’s the first time I was so into a omnibus that I read it in only a few sittings. While I read vol 1 slowly in between reading dune 1, 2 and 3 lol
Well, I don’t own any DC omnibuses myself. But, if I did own one I think the injustice omnibus would be my top pick. Hope this qualifies for the giveaway.
My favorite DC Omnibus is the one that was my first, The Spectre: The Wrath of the Spectre Omnibus. And, looking forward to winning any type of give-away you have going on; especially if DC related !
I got the three absolutes from my sponsor and sadly I have yet to read it! I think I’m waiting till we are closer to a reprint of one of the volumes to do my review on them.
Rebuilding my physical collection, and my wallet weeps seeing these awesome suggestions. I just found out about The Many Deaths of Vic Sage, so that's my next buy. Then come to find out He has 2 omnis is crazy. I would've added Justice League Dark.
@@TBATB I know it seems like a daunting task to read those 3 massive books, but they are surprisingly quick reads. It is basically like reading GL by Geoff Johns. If you get a chance, check out Comics Guide101’s review on volume 1. That is what got me hyped for the JSA series.
I'm going to go on record stating that New52 Flash is a FANTASTIC starting point for Flash. It's beautiful, well-written, and low commitment because it's only about 25 issues. And since it's New52, it doesn't require a whole bunch of prior knowledge to understand. It's not the absolute BEST Flash run ever, but it can easily be argued that it's the best for new readers.
@@TBATB We Flash fans are a special bunch. But we’re also a very lucky group, because we have so many great runs for our favorite character. Like Daredevil fans over at Marvel.
@@TBATBTough choice. Wally has had better stories, so I enjoy his books more. But I actually prefer the character of Barry. I love that he’s a scientist/detective. Wally has some great family dynamics, but in a vacuum I find him to be kinda vanilla.
Flash must've been a tough choice for you to pick with such a large library of omnis for his title. My unofficial favorite DC "omni" is my custom bind of Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew. Because who doesn't love funny animals in superhero costumes? 😅
My favorite Dc omnibus so far is Superman by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. To me Superman is the pinnacle of what a superhero should be and is almost a Jesus type character, but this omnibus really humanizes him while keeping that classic Superman feel.
Thank you for being rad! I wouldn’t have a channel without awesome people like you supporting me and giving me fun ideas! I might even steal this idea for October!
Refuse to start with this 😂 Lol just kidding some good picks I was really enjoying Aquaman omnibus but Aquaman in the 90s was no joke he was punisher underwater trust me .
@@TBATB I haven't read the full run but read the first trade & had read a few of the back issues a while back & it was a good read but I remember it beeing a bit wordy so it might take a while to finish as an omnibus.
The three absolutes are one of the treasures of my collection! Dark Victory is very expensive, but I would maybe hold off on paying whale prices. They announced a follow up story called The last Halloween and I could see the absolutes being reprinted when that comes out

How do you feel it is for new readers?
Death and Return of Superman is my favorite.
I just did a video on it called 5 amazing Superman stories!
@@TBATB Yeah it's a great list. Supes has always been my dude since I was like 8 and saw Superman 3, yeah I didn't know it was not the greatest till later but watching Clark fight off his evil side was like the coolest thing ever I thought back then haha .
It doesn’t matter if something’s “not the greatest” all that matters is if you love it!
@@TBATB worth it for the wedding
My favorite DC omni is Geoff John’s Green Lantern. I never cared for the Green Lantern until I read his run on the character.
Such an amazing run! It’s definitely in my top 15!
I'm not a new reader but I love these lists because I have a lot of holes to fill with newer runs. My favorite is Batman by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale. It's the one I keep going back to. I really want the Superman Rebirth based on all of the reviews.
That book is my favorite Batman omnibus, and if I could have used two Batman books I would have thrown it in 100%
Another awesome video! And again, I'm sorry about the shipping situation, but I'm eternally grateful! I'll skip this giveaway, you know why! 😅
Dude no worries! Thanks for all the support and hope you love the books!
Favorite DC omnibus has to be Green Lantern by Geoff Johns. Some of the greatest literature ever written
Such an epic run!
my Favorite DC Omnibus for the giveaway - Sleeper by Ed Brubaker
Sleeper is seriously so good!
Batman fan here. My favorite omnibus is one you mentioned: Batman by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo (volumes 1 & 2). Runner up is the Paul Dini Batman omnibus.
I would replace question with Mike Grell’s long bow hunter omnibus.
Ahh I went back and fourth on those two!
Hi great list definitely going to check out the question. At the moment Mt favourite dc omni has to be green arrow longbow hunters that was really good
I love that book!
@TBATB I couldn't stop reading it took me 5 days just flew through it was so good haven't read the second one yet always looking out for it
Have you read the question? I thought it was of a similar tone and the same caliber of quality!
@TBATB no that's definitely on my list of books to read just started y the last man this week loving it so far
My favourite Omni is the Snyder Capullo Batman, especially vol 1, some of the best art and stories you’ll read, I reread the run every year and get new things out of it everytime
It was so hard to pick this over Batman by Loeb and Sale but it’s so iconic and great for new readers!
My favourite DC character is Batman but Geoff Johns run on Green Lantern is my favourite DC omni
I wanted to fit it in this list but I wanted to be different haha what’s your favorite Batman omnibus?
I share your opinion and think Snyders run is almost perfect and a great way to get into the Bat universe ;-)
Would you recommend absolute final crisis omnibus as a new starter who’s a big fan of Darkseid?
So if you ask anyone in the world they will tell you not to start with final crisis. But you know what? It was my first comic book and I loved it! It can be confusing but you should still try it! Someday when you’ve read more you can go back and try again!
I haven’t read any omnibuses yet since I’m new to comics so I don’t have a favorite. However my most anticipated omnibus is Nightwing by Tom Taylor. Thanks for recommending some omnis to start reading.
Welcome to the awesome world of omnibus! I can not wait for Nightwing by Tom Taylor it is excellent!!!
My favorite DC omnibus- Rise and Fall of the Batmen (my first omnibus)
Hands down the best batfamily book!
Hey man great video my favorite Omni so far has been Batman the hush saga Omni
Have you read the Paul Dini omnibus?
@@TBATB I have not. I’ve heard some good things about it but haven’t gotten around to getting it but I just might have get it soon now
RIP my bank account. So glad I stumbled upon your channel. I've already bought 2 omnis and one of the DC compact editions since I discovered your channel less than a week ago!
Trust me, don’t fall into the fomo trap! Slowly build up your library of just books you love!
Wished DC reprinted Batman: Prelude to Knightfall and Troika trades. Missing those!
great picks . can you do one about marvel. love your show
I have one a did about a year ago! Sadly anytime I cover non DC comics my videos tend to struggle. I have cultivated a large DC following and TH-cam hates change.
@@TBATB love all your video reviews very sorry if I gave impression of hater . Just love marvel the more. ❤️
No you didn’t! I would love to do a marvel one someday it was an awesome suggestion! 💜
Gosh I don’t own much silver age but that book sounds iconic
@@TBATB Yes lots of first appearances and important moments
I might need to check it out! But my flash omnibus collection keeps getting bigger and bigger and I can’t keep up!
Hottest take that you prefer vol 2 over vol 1!!!
Favorite omnibus has to be Batman by Grant Morrison
Thanks for the recommendations and time to order every omni you mentioned :')
Haha if you are US based don’t forget I have a discount code for Organic Price Books that saves you some money!
Which one do you wanna buy first?
@@TBATB As a new reader trying to expand my collection outside of Batman, I'm still gonna have to pick up Gotham Central first haha
Gotham central is incredible!
Well, I don’t own any DC omnibuses myself. But, if I did own one I think the injustice omnibus would be my top pick. Hope this qualifies for the giveaway.
It totally does! You are entered! Did you see we are finally getting injustice 2 as an omnibus next year?
@@TBATB no I didn’t! That’s so cool!
My favorite DC Omnibus is the one that was my first, The Spectre: The Wrath of the Spectre Omnibus. And, looking forward to winning any type of give-away you have going on; especially if DC related !
I am so pumped that omnibus is coming back in to print as I missed it!
@@TBATB Cool !
I haven't read alot of dc omnibus, but based on what I have read, my favorite is grant morrisons batman
I love the second vol so much! Give me all the Dick Grayson as Batman!
@@TBATB that is the one I'm about to read. Lol
I tried to mention that book but then completely blanked on the name and had to try and make it smooth 😂 did you hear about all along the watchtower?
@TBATB I had to look into, but looks cool. Rene as the Question is awesome
My favorite is a tie between supersons and new frontier.
New frontier is the best!
Young justice by Peter David Omni!! Great art work and story lines that keep you young and entertained!!
You know I bought that and it’s in my stack of unread shame!
All 3 of grant morrison omnibus are my favorite followed by final crisis
Such great books!
Best Omnibus: Injustice Vol.1 ❤
Are you pumped for injustice 2
💯!!!!!!
My favorite DC omnibus Green Lantern by Geoff Johns. All 3 lol
Love them and they were so close to being on the list!
I think JSA by Geoff Johns is the best DC team book (all 3 books)
I’ve had those on my shelves forever but I’ve never dived in!
Haha I love it! I was totally just joking! You know how fiercely passionate flash fans are!
@@TBATB We Flash fans are a special bunch. But we’re also a very lucky group, because we have so many great runs for our favorite character. Like Daredevil fans over at Marvel.
Do you have a favorite flash? Are you team Barry or team Wally?
@@TBATBTough choice. Wally has had better stories, so I enjoy his books more. But I actually prefer the character of Barry. I love that he’s a scientist/detective. Wally has some great family dynamics, but in a vacuum I find him to be kinda vanilla.
Flash must've been a tough choice for you to pick with such a large library of omnis for his title. My unofficial favorite DC "omni" is my custom bind of Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew. Because who doesn't love funny animals in superhero costumes? 😅
Dude I would love to see pictures of that book!
@@TBATB I think I posted pics of them once in the omnibuds group 😁
Thank you for sharing the pictures with me! They are so rad!
My favorite omnibus is mark waid’s flash
I have been waiting for vol 2 to jump in!
My favorite Dc omnibus so far is Superman by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. To me Superman is the pinnacle of what a superhero should be and is almost a Jesus type character, but this omnibus really humanizes him while keeping that classic Superman feel.
Such an awesome book but we seriously need more Superman omnibuses!
Batman jeoph lobe and tim Sale is my favorite omnibus
It’s the best Batman ever!
My current favorite dc omnibus is The phantom stranger omnibus
I love that book, and can’t wait to get the reprints of deadman and Spector!
@@TBATB those are gonna be so good I love the supernatural aspect of dc. Are there enough to do a top 10 supernatural dc Omni’s?
JLD New 52
JLD Rebirth
Spector
Deadman
Phantom Stranger
Blackest night
Animal man new 52
Swamp thing new 52
House of mystery
House of strange
@@TBATB bro thanks for being rad lol
Thank you for being rad! I wouldn’t have a channel without awesome people like you supporting me and giving me fun ideas! I might even steal this idea for October!
I really like the infinite crisis Omni
It’s the best event Omni!
@@TBATB agreed! And the first Omni I ever bought😁
It was one of the first I ever bought! I had read and loved the trade paperback and was so shocked there was so much more to the story!
@@TBATB I’ve re-read it about 5 times now and I’m still finding new stuff, I can’t seem to get enough haha
Best dc omnibus is geoff johns green lantern. Fingers crossed 🤞
Such a perfect run!
My favorite Omnibus is Batman The new 52.
It’s so rad! Have you read Batman by Loeb and sale or rise and fall of the Batmen?
@@TBATB Batman by Leob and Sale is on my list. I can’t wait to read it.
Refuse to start with this 😂 Lol just kidding some good picks I was really enjoying Aquaman omnibus but Aquaman in the 90s was no joke he was punisher underwater trust me .
I can’t wait for the Peter David omnibus!! It will be my first time reading him!
@@TBATB I haven't read the full run but read the first trade & had read a few of the back issues a while back & it was a good read but I remember it beeing a bit wordy so it might take a while to finish as an omnibus.
my first book i ever read and damnnnnn it was a bangger and it was doom patrol omnibus X3
Some people don’t think it’s great for new readers, but you and I are proof that it is!
@@TBATB is weird in all the right ways and till this day still my favorite overall dc book
Great list mine is most definitely Batman by jeph lobe and Tim sale
If I could have picked two I would have picked that one! One my list of favorite Batman books it’s number 1
@@TBATB absolutely I might pick up the absolutes here soon
The three absolutes are one of the treasures of my collection! Dark Victory is very expensive, but I would maybe hold off on paying whale prices. They announced a follow up story called The last Halloween and I could see the absolutes being reprinted when that comes out
Why, the invisibles, of course!
I NEED THAT BOOK
