Good job Mike…I’ve been following you, Capt Leon & Smokin J since my purchase of my 2021 195S. Many great ideas. For sound deadening, I used Kilmat 50mil squares on the inside of the engine cover to see how well it did. Definitely worth the effort since it lowered the reverberation of that cover better than the stock, whimpy foam. Apply it on a warm sunny day and it stick nicely. I’ll be adding more to other areas of the engine bay as well as the gas tank cover (as you pointed out) since I hadn’t thought of it as a source of vibration. Keep up the good work all you Yamaha peeps. I’ll be on Barnegat Bay enjoying the fruits of your labor.
Thanks Matt! We’re just happy to give back to the community! The Kilmat definitely works too. I wanted to try something that was a bit “extra”. This thing is so dang loud lol
I bought a 2023 275 sdx. Twin supercharged and it was loud as hell. I did the killmat in the engine bay within a couple of weeks after delivery last year. And it was so cheap I had enough to do under the seats. That Helped make the 10” stock sub stop vibrating the heck out of the fiberglass too. I still Have left over killmat. I’ll Be doing more soon.
Nice job! I noticed that the foam you removed from the engine hatch was substantially thinner than the foam on mine. I like how you fastened it on rather than just glueing. Looks good!!

Thanks! And thanks again for your help!! 👍🏻
Nice job captain Mike!😁
Thanks! 🙂
Excellent Video!! Now you have me looking at mine? Great job!
Thanks! Yours probably isn’t as bad as mine is. I’m sure yours has better fit and finish!
I find that the windshield reflects a lot of engine noise back at you too. 2012 AR240
It’s crazy how these early models have so little sound absorption though
How much foam did you use?
I believe I ordered 4 sets, and I did have a some leftover.
What materials did you use ??
I have all the materials in the description with the links 👍🏻
