This is at a Member's dining event. Everyone here mostly knows each other and is part of our training community / John's student. It's a mix of micro classes, games, social events, dinner. We have people from all walks of life including military and police, pilots, surgeons, regular Blue collar guys, etc We all get together for a weekend and learn, laugh a lot and share some grog!

During ballistic breaching with a shorty 12 gauge I didn’t listen to instructions and look away from the breach point. As soon as I pulled the trigger I lost a tooth because of the recoil. Life lesson I’ll never forget.

We always shot the door standing off to the side with our arms extended so that if rounds came through the door during the breach we wouldn't catch one. Did he talk about that?
They taught us to “flood the structure”… which is fine in training… but in Iraq we found buildings where the entire bottom floor was filled with C wire. Breach that… good luck. That’s when you use a MBT or a JDAM. The lesson… if you think you’re gonna “dominate” and overcome whatever you meet as a fireteam or a squad… you had best think again.
Are y'all using wad cutters (rounds)? Reason I ask is I was trained a little differently when I was active and im thinking it is because of the rounds y'all are using.

His coaching model is like no one else and it's the best way to get anyone to 80%+ technique wise. You can follow Ben, Matt, etc to start getting that other 10 to 20% but John can get ANYONE to a solid foundation without having to dump a case of ammo a week at the range. Also John has the best procedural ways on doing reloads, transitions, and malfunction clearances - not something that is taught by those other guys. John is killing it on podcasts and has been building the SOB Tactical community for a long time.
