I'm kinda sad that there aren't more people covering this. Such a cool project, thanks for bringing more attention to it. From what the creator told me, they're planning on doing more than just "reviving" the Satellaview. Today they posted a video where Super Mario World was one of the available games and if you update and play the game right now, you can find a tower for homebrew games
Pretty cool that the SNES hacker scene is restoring things like this. You know, I'm just thinking how cool it would be if Nintendo actually added a feature like this to the Switch online service. They could even include all this original SNES/Satellaview content as part of it. That would just be such a neat nostalgia trip right there. And, with the success of the recent F-Zero 99, I think it's obvious there's still a huge amount of love for all this classic SNES content. Edit: Look at almost all the replies to my comment below. Boy do we have problem with trolls and Nintendo haters in modern times. Nintendo ain't perfect, but some of those comments are just absurdly OTT, ergo, the people making them are absurd.
@@VideoGameEsotericaThis is the Nintendo that hounds anybody (or their legal department anyway) for including any Nintendo content on their channel. For a while, I kept thinking you were forgetting your channel’s name when you started each video, haha. The way you enunciate it: “Videogame Esooooooo? terica!” Now, if you said it any other way, it would feel off. 😂
Looks amazing! I love the passion the Nintendo community has, hell the retro community as a whole! Teams like this deserve way more recondition for restoring this lost art! Side note, I wonder if it could possibly work on the wii via Homebrew? The wii Hombrew community is amazing, and I would love to see this work on there! Since there is already a snes emulator on there
Being a guy who works at a grocery store 5 out 7 days a week this would basically be impossible for me to play stuff at certain times of day but it’s an interesting concept
This is brilliant, I love it, can't wait for it to be mature, would be amazing if it got ported to MiSTer and OG hardware one day too, I love the idea of a modern day version of this as well, or maybe this could be used to build on with new features and games as if the service never ended, add in weekly challenges and high-score competitions et cetera, a cool way to show of homebrew games, and you could also have demos of modern SNES game releases, would love to see the Sega Channel too, does make me want a kind of mini internet closed platform for MiSTer though, with the same kind of design, with weekly MiSTer magazines, videos, game music, demos, retro challenges and who knows what else, a virtual game store done in the style of the N64, would be dope af, "MiSTer neT".
Ah, they need to recreate the news and weather services too! 😅 It’s a very early web era idea to use a virtual town as a menu - think the varying neighborhoods of Geocities.
Are they recreating the radio portion of BS-X? I know a few broadcasts got found, but not all of them. Playing BS Mario 2 without the characters in the corner actually talking always bugged me.

I hope this gets supported on Linux and Raspberry Pi systems running Batocera and RetroPie, this would be awesome for those with a home-made Super Nintendo/Famicom Mini.
Heh, I just downloaded the bsx rom to mess about with on my Mister last night. Be nice if they could arrange to get this working via that or the Po compatible emulators
This is very interesting there's a lot of history to nintendo and sega I had no idea about. Gotta love the hacking and modding community that do stuff like this! It's crazy to think in real life, there's bad hackers and good hackers that create stuff like this.
I tried it a bit years ago when I made my personalized collection of roms, I have only 17 games in my roms folder, I didn't like the rest too much and I think only one was a Chrono Trigger music player xd.
Hello everyone, this is Ryuhei Yamanosuke from Nintendo’s legal department. Just leaving a comment to say that we here at the Nintendo megacorporation are funneling all our resources into destroying this Satellaview fansite. Fans who enjoy our older games are of course a very real problem and we are doing our best to put an end to this. Thank you for your compliance in this matter.

But Nintendo would have to be cool to do something like that haha
@@VideoGameEsoterica Well, "cool" is relative. But, in principle, I get what you're alluding to.
It’s up to hobbyists to preserve game history as it’s clear, that by and large corporations don’t care about their history.

Seems like they might try OG hardware eventually
They’re also gonna make a Superdisc+, a recreation of the SNES and Sony collaboration
Don’t we already have that? Or at least the bios

Sadly it may be lost 🤷🏻♂️

I believe they are where they can
SoundLink support will launch today at 2pm. It will require a separate client to be downloaded, however.
Good to hear! Pun intended lol
How fantastic that they're keeping to the scheduling. Some BS we can actually enjoy!
Haha yep. I held this video til today as they will be resuming broadcasting in august
Is it using original data? Did they get the broadcasted audio files for the live broadcast?
From what I understand they are sending the audio as well when available
It would be neat if they added support for connecting to this server to the SNES MiSTer core.
Have they started broadcasting yet?
I haven’t seen a broadcast yet but they said 8/1 so maybe soon?
