You definitely need to go back at Christmas time, it's beautiful. Hopefully soon they can have all there shows and cave back open. It's definitely a beautiful theme park.
My home park glad you could make it. Fire in the Hole was the “Coatster” we cut our teeth on as kids we would talk about it in school who dared to ride. Great fun great area a to vaca. I enjoy being out of the city. Come for the parks and stay for the lakes and rivers.
I'm 59 and have been going to SDC since i was a youngster. Fire In The Hole is the iconic ride. Probably oldest ride in the park so it will be different than the more recent rides. Just enjoy it for what it is.
Yes I loved fire in the hole when I was tiny! Now my favorite is definitely time traveler, I was so scared at first but as soon as I got the drop I was so excited!
I rode Fire in the Hole and was lucky enough to take my kids on the exact same ride decades later. They actually thought more of SDC than Disneyland for years

Free parking actually isn't limited and you don't have to show up early to park for free. I can see where you're coming from with it feeling like GhostTown at Knotts, if it made up a whole park lol
It's so fun! You should definitely go there! Time traveler is the first ride you see, time traveler has loops, barrel rolls, and so much more! It's amazing!!
I've been wanting to visit this park and Dollywood badley. Not just because I've never been to a Herschend park before but because the theming, hospitality, food and rides look like some of the best you'll find in any park outside of Disney. Plus the setting in the mountains is beautiful and this one has the awesome Marvel Caves.
This place is my childhood and plus missouri is my home! We go here every now and then, and the park has grown alot since I was a little boy! It's crazy how people go here now! It's awesome!
The only time I was there, I was 9 and my dad and his second wife took her family and me my two sisters and brother, unfortunately I had a broken collar bone. I'm from Missouri, so I might go back with my fiance and step daughter this summer. I'm 52 now, so I'm pretty sure a lot has changed

If you were that shook by the lush greenery, you HAVE TO make your way over to Bush Gardens Williamsburg. I grew up in SoCal and I lived in the parks, so to see lakes, rivers, and trees within a terrain theme park... was mind boggling. Plus the theming and rides were immaculate
So quick story on Outlaw Run.. I was there with my Aunt, Uncle, 2 cousins, and sister, and I rode Outlaw Run with my Aunt and older cousin. It was at night during the Halloween Festival in 2020. The very first part was lit up, but then after you drop, it’s pitch black! I highly recommend it! Also my cousin got scared on it and broke down but I don’t wanna make fun of him.
Gonna have to add this park to my bucket list. Beautiful themed park with cool rides! Thanks for showing us theme parks outside of California. Looking forward to Pt 2!🤗
Sdc at Christmas is beautiful. I have grown up visiting sdc often and still go from time to time in my adult years. It grabs you and holds a special place in your heart. I know you will come back during Christmas.
The first time I visited Silver Dollar City, I was like 7. It’s been around 5 years since the first time, I don’t think I have been back since then. I’m going next week with my dad, and I’m so excited.
Wow!!! My husband and I just died when we saw you were at our home theme park! We couldn’t believe it. We’ve lived 30 minutes from SDC our entire lives and were happy to watch you experience it.... especially Fire in the Hole! 😂 Can’t wait for Part 2! 😍
sdc, bgw and knotts are at the top of my list once im good to travel again and of those 3 i'm most excited for silver dollar city. the coaster collection, the theming, the food, everything about it just seems like its going to hit all the right sweet spots for me
I’ve been to SDC once, in 1972! But Fire in the Hole was open and I remember loving it! Not many other rides were open then, and Branson was just a small town.

At 15:30 that's me and my family at the cinnamon bread shop on the right, we saw people filming but we didn't pay much attention to it cause many people were taking pictures and stuff. What a coincidence that this was in my recommended page!
Not sure if someone else mentioned, but the "destroyed" car No. 3 at Powder Keg is from the previous incarnation of the ride, Buzzsaw Falls. It was a combination water log flume-type and roller coaster. They took out the water element and kept the coaster, hence the secondary chain lift hill.
If you are still in the area Top of the Rock is fantastic for dinner and Wonders of wildlife and aquarium in Springfield are well worth the time. Owned by and home base of Bass Pro Stores

I live about 2.5 hours from Branson so I grew up going to Silver Dollar City a lot. My most recent trip was summer 2019 and it wasn’t the best experience... Outlaw Run and Powder Keg were closed the entire day; I’ve never been able to ride Outlaw Run! 😭 Fire in the Hole used to scare me as a kid but I love it now. It’s like SDC’s version of Pirates of the Caribbean. 🤣 I’m glad you went and checked it out! Those skillets are 🔥!
Lol....I live in Springfield....not to far away. We've had passes since I was a little kid.....grandpa always called it Steal Your Dollar Holler....but we loved it....still go from time to time.....the smells are amazing and the food is good 👍

We live in St Louis. My kids have never been to six flags. We drive the extra three and a half hours or approx four and a half extra with the camper to go to silver dollar city. The 60th diamond jubilee was originally for 2020 but because of covid it was extended another year
Loved that you loved 'Fire in the Hole'. As a kid in the '70s our annual vacation was always to SDC. Back then it was much more about the mountain crafts with a few mild rides. My dad took me on 'Fire in the Hole' when it first opened; we had no idea it was a roller coaster, because SDC didn't have roller coasters. My dad's only comment was 'well, they've turned this place into an amusement park!' :)
go in the summer at 95 degrees and 90% humidity... Fire in the Hole is one of the oldest rides in the park...riding that when i was 8 years old and i am 57 now. becoming kid friendly again...good.
A person's very first ride on Outlaw Run needs to be in the front seat because after that first ride.... you can't experience the first time again. First ride in the front, Second ride in the back, then start experimenting with seat location to find your favorite spot. Having been a citizen at SDC, I enjoy seeing reactions from people about their first visit to SDC. It really is an amazing place.
It's a historical ride, it talks about what happened to the town the park was built on, the blacksmith is built on the foundation of the old blacksmith etc.

Wildlife looks wild but it's actually one of tamest coasters in the park. I'm a chicken so I put it off forever. Once I finally rode it I couldn't believe I waited.
We are pass members to SDC and visit often. We love Disney and visit it often as well. Hope you enjoyed your stay and meet sometime. We live just north of Kansas City. Should definitely bring Katie and Spencer to experience it next time. Think they enjoy the atmosphere and history too. Your whole group is so enjoyable to watch.
My first visit to SDC was as a kid and that place suuuuucked. It had like 2 rides, Fire in the Hole, and the Log Ride. Lol everything else was folk dancing, and Glass Blowing. (at least to a 10 year old it seemed that way) But I went years later as an adult and SDC was much better. And the Festival of Trees at Christmas is great!

The cave is amazing. I did not know it was there. In fact it was the first thing to attract tourists to the spot long before rides. Or so I read somewhere.

Christmas at SDC is absolutely beautiful. Millions of lights and Christmas trees. A light display very similar to The Osborne Family Lights from Hollywood Studios. I actually think they are the Osborne Lights, but when asked, Silver Dollar City denies it, so 🤷🏻♀️. Several TH-cam videos of the park at Christmas. Enjoy! Seen Glenn Campbell and The Osmonds in downtown Branson and visited silver dollar city back in the early 1990’s and totally enjoyed ourselves.

SDC opened about 60yrs ago! From what I’ve heard about it not much has changed other than coasters being added!
