    Thanks for your informative post, may I add something?
    I understand that the plinth that supports the Christmas tree adjacent to the church is an drainage inspection cover that was thoughtfully designed to accommodate a raised circular seating area, when not required for tree duties.

    8:36 - Tipton Library (Carnegie building) next to Victoria Park. Also Horseley Heath (part of Tipton), a Carnegie Building called Horseley Heath post office.

    The only times I've been / seen Tipton and Dudlai is from the rear deck of a narrowboat - thus your view from dry land was most invigorating. Thank You!

      Thank you so much! The canal certainly is a great way to pass through Tipton, but there is even more to see on dry land :)
      Thank you very much for watching and for your very kind words - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!

    Nice walk, have hear a few tales of the Tipton Slasher. While in a pub he turned away from his drink and when he turned back the glass was empty. He was reported to say the first person to burp gets thumped.

      Ha ha! That's a great story, he seems like quite the character - no wonder they've immortalised him in Tipton!
      Thanks for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video :)

    Thank you very much, I know Owen Street well, going off this street, it's all new builds, I barely recognise the place now.
    Tipton hight street is the only street in the UK that is cut off both ends with a canal. 😮

    Very interesting walk, especially about the 'Tipton Slasher'. I see that there appears to be a lot of modern housing developments that have taken place. I presume they have built these on the disused industrial sites?

    • @LetsWalkUK
      @LetsWalkUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much for watching, I'm really glad you liked the video! Much of the recent housing developments have been built on old industrial land - and there are more and more plans every year for new builds :)

    Loved the Walk through Tipton which is close to The Black Country Museum where Peaky Blinders is filmed. During World War One in 1916 Tipton was bombed by a German Zeppelin raid and 14 people were killed in Union Street.

      I didn't know that Peaky Blinders was filmed at the museum! Thank you so much for the informative comment and for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed this walk in Tipton :)

      Thanks! It's a nice 'little' town and the gardens by the old canal are very lovely, with a good bit of fighting history too!
      Thanks for watching as always, hope you're keeping well :)

    So my family name is Tipton and I live in USA. I have always been very interested in knowing where my family history is from. To know there is a place called Tipton makes me so curious about my family and if we could have possibly migrated from UK to USA at one point.

    • @LetsWalkUK
      @LetsWalkUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's very possible! There are a couple of Tiptons around the UK but this is certainly the biggest nowadays, so it could very well be the place where your family came from - if so I hope you enjoyed this walk around your potential ancestral hometown!
      Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video :)

      @@LetsWalkUK Thank you so much for your response. I definitely enjoyed the walk through. Thinking to take a trip one day. It seems like a very lovely place. And if I am ever able to find a connection to my family there, I will for sure update this comment. Thank you so much for your videos and kind words. Have a Happy New year. 😊

    An interesting commentary but the walk never gets near to the centre of the town (which is very close to where the three electoral wards meet) and isn't the largest shopping area in Tipton which is in Great Bridge. You could have mentioned that (since the closure of The Red Lion) The Fountain is the oldest pub in Tipton that is still trading.

    • @LetsWalkUK
      @LetsWalkUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! My apologies for missing out on some of the main sights of Tipton - but thank you very much for pointing that out, and also for the clarification about The Fountain :)
      Thank you so much for watching - I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video!

    Canal barges were towed along by one shire horse and could move along as much as 40 tons of coal each barge...as a result of all the coal mining it was called the "Black country", now much of it is called "black country" for other reasons hahaha!!
