Even though I was born in 73 I long for the wolverhampton I remember... Those shots of Horsley field take me back.. We lived down that way and walked that road to town all the time with our nan and grandad.. I miss those days
I don't know Wolverhampton, or its surrounds, but this could be almost any part of England before everything was built on. The way you have compiled this collecting is compelling and addictive. I loved it, thank you.
Great collection of images, amazing how neat and tidy everything was kept back in the day, despite the hardship and work conditions local people had pride in their area, unlike today.
Some of the difference nowadays is so called progress i wolves born and bred and compared to this video the place seems bleak by comparison nowadays nice film
Technically Wolverhampton was just the town centre around St Peters church surrounded by villages, hamlets etc. As industry and houses and roads were built the town expanded and these villages became part of Wolverhampton. Technically everywhere was near Wolverhampton until the 19th and 20th century expansion.
I was born in Wolverhampton in1958 within 25 year's it changed totally. Sad. But this is beautiful viewing. ❤
