I pre-ordered, which is something so haven’t done since MGSV…. The 87 cartoon is my favorite iteration of the Turtles. One of the first video games I ever owned was TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan on Gameboy.
I just reached out to an old friend and I haven’t seen in many years because of all the great times we had playing turtles in time. Hopefully we can reconnect and enjoy this game together

Looks great and thank you for the review. I will give some feedback on the critique of the difficulty of the story mode: I understand that you prefer it being harder, but as an aging gamer who has health problems that kept me from being able to beat games like Metroid Dread, I appreciate the ease of story mode. I should be able to actually get through this. I hope those who want a harder challenge enjoy the harder modes. 👍
Arcade mode (on gnarly) provides more than a challenge for those wanting a tougher experience! This game is perfectly balanced and has everything old school gamers, (like myself) and new gen players could possibly want! It's a 20/20, and the best game that I've played in 2022! I still have God of war ragnarock sitting on my desk in plastic; so hopefully it's as good as the previous installment!
Fantastic review. I was looking forward to a basic arcade beat-em-up, but it sounds like there’s so much more included here. This will definitely tie me over until the Cowabunga Collection is released. Thank you!
Childhood Nostalgia at its peak. I still play the classic Turtles games to date and seeing a new beat em up finally releasing with tight controls and classic 80s cartoon graphics is the greatest dream come true. Love the Scott Pilgrim aspects as well. Kind of upset the locked the final character since they showed then in a video already.
You know what I liked about this? Other characters finally appearing in a TMNT beat em up thats not just the 4 brothers. Gives me hope that more characters might be DLC like Usagi Yojimbo.
Teenage mutant ninja turtles was one of the highlights of my childhood. Stacking quarters up on the arcade machine to lock in my spot made for an awesome Saturday night. Excellent review as usual.
Used to smash this, the Simpsons and Golden axe in the arcades in cleethorpes as a kid with my dad ploughing in the 20ps as we went on to the end. Cannot wait to play this with my kids. Great review guys, Cheers.
I remember playing a TMNT game like this on the gba. it was one of my favorite games back in the day. To see it revitalized and made even better is really cool & nostalgic. Might have to add this to my collection. Thanks Switch Up
Yeah. I'm really disappointed that they didn't include the GBA game on the Cowabunga Collection. Would have rather had that the some of the regular GB games. Maybe they could add it as DLC.
@@christophervieth1618 yeah that game was a fantastic gem. I played it so much when I was younger I found the secret shredder mission fight or whatever on accident lol it's been years

I love sitting up waiting for a game to release just to be slapped in the face because Nintendo decided the won’t fucking unlock the software at midnight. What fucking good is a digital purchase then?! What fucking good is my preorder?!
I kept the original TMNT graphic novels from the 80s as well as the toys. All safely hidden away at Grandma's house. I fondly remember my mind being blown by the original arcade game as a kid. Looking forward to playing this with my son.
Honestly I was waiting to see what you guys had to say about the game before I settled on whether or not I wanted to get this game. What an awesome and thorough review. It is some of Glen’s best work. Thanks for helping me make the decision on this game. TENTACULAR!

Dude, you’ve come to the right place! This channel highlights numerous pixelated games like this. If you go into the Nintendo Eshop, there are soooo many good indie games that make great games like this… try dead cells, katana zero, blasphemous, slain, the list goes on, the ones I named are all in the eshop. Good luck and enjoy your play through.

I'm glad I went ahead and bought this. As excited as I am for the cowabunga collection, I think it's more important to show that there is demand for a brand new game. It looks like it is going to exceed my expectations, I can't wait until tomorrow to finally play it.
Had my doubts about this one but glad it's come out looking like a great game. Still will probably wait for a bigger sale at some point but definitely gonna pick it up eventually.

I am SO GLAD that i pre-ordered this game. I have been waiting and waiting for it ever since I caught the smell of it the first time almost a year ago. Thanks for a great review, Glen!
This game really is a love letter to my childhood. Was a huge fan of the cartoon, the arcade beat ‘em ups and the NES/SNES games. Enjoying Shredder’s Revenge immensely so far.
TMNT were a huge part of my childhood and i especially loved the NES and SNES games. I'm extremely happy that it turned out as great as i hoped, can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.
GREAT REVIEW SwitchUp. I preordered the digital version but Im also getting the physical edition. Looking forward to play this game tomorrow with my kids. Damn man 1987...a lifetime ago. I hope the dev team will ad dlc characters/new modes/ stories etc. Would be cool to play as Shredder.
I completely missed out on all the Turtles games on SNES and other consoles growing up so I have no particular affection for or attachment to the games franchise, but I love that there are die hard fans out there who also happen to be talented game designers who are paying such loving homage to a great era in gaming. Switch may not be the expensive graphical powerhouse that other platforms are but it has been an especially great console for lovers of old school 8 and 16 bit 2d games like this and I hope this one does very well on Switch.
The only thing I am mad about is that I have to wait until tomorrow! :). Buying this 3 times! 1 on switch for portable, 2. On ps4 for trophies, 3. Physical version.
I bought the limited run as soon as I could. One of my fondest childhood memories was my birthday Feb 28 1990 I was 4 years old and my mom got me the arcade game on the NES. It came with a pizza hut coupon for a free pizza. It is honestly one of the most vivid memories of my adult life. The physical copy comes with a coupon for this game, and the charm I can't wait to play this.
Was getting Friends of Ringo Ishikawa then noticed two things: one that I didn’t have any beat ‘‘em ups in my library and another that Ninja Turtles suddenly appeared in the eshop, snatched both digitally but will eventually try to get physicals too.
Turtles in Time for the snes is my favorite game of all time and I have the dvd set for the 90s series. You know I’m definitely getting this game. Pure nostalgia.
Pre ordered and downloaded ready for tomorrow. I grew up with the 1987 cartoon series, and playing the konami arcade games, the original movie and SNES Turtles in Time. Can't wait for this, so amazing that they made it 6 players too. My kids got into the 2012 series, which was a good balance of the source material of the cartoon and movie from the 90's. I enjoyed watching with them, especially when they met with the original 87 turtles in a multi dimension episode - yep, they done it before Spiderman and Dr Strange 😁
My favorite little detail? The warmth and aroma wafting from the pizzas. Tell me those aren't going to be the most delicious pizzas you've ever eaten, even if they're served on a New York sidewalk.
Thanks for the review, I'm so happy this game is as good as expected. I love that you mentioned Hero Turtles, I still have my childhood Hero Turtles mug from my time in the UK! No one ever believes me until I show them it!
Watched a full review after a long time. My sons have been hogging both my switches and I am confined to PS5 and PC for now. Planning on getting it for them but they are already occupied with the Kirby games. Kirby and star allies and Kirby and the forgotten lands.
I really can’t wait to get my hands on this… the turtles games were pretty much my childhood, they were the only games I could get my brothers to play with me and beat. So this is probably one of my most anticipated game this year
i didn't want to spoile myself of this game, at first i tought it was a collection of all the older games and a new chapter. this looks great! will be getting this soon!
The last beat em up game I played a lot of was the arcade turtles games and have never really enjoyed the beat em up genre since. There is enough nostalgia here that I am very intrigued.
I had high hopes for this game, but I was going to wait until my next paycheck to pick it up, I'm happy to know I have good times to look forward to. -Someone who grew up with fond memories of TMNT on Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and arcades!
Cool game. It's like a renaissance of beat 'em up games. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting.
I've never liked arcade games much, but since TMNT has a special place in my heart (and eastward lit my action-pixelart fire), I just might give this a go!
Raphael was always my favourite turtle! Great review, I really feel my age now as I grew up with the Teenage Mutant Heroes Turtles cartoon! Shame they didn’t include Usagi from Usagi Yojimbo though!😫
Hopefully I'll be playing what you reviewed cause other switch reviews mentioned some strange and even extreme bugs like waiting in black screen for 2 min, losing progress and there frames dipping to 1 fps. Long story short I want the experience you had better than what they had... lol
Hearing the story mode could have been a little more difficult is good news for me because it means my young kids are more likely to play the game through with me without too much frustration and more enjoyment.
to me I feel like they could've made this game look much more appealing. I would've liked a much more exciting visual appearance like the arcade game had. everything looks short, squat, movement appears too fast, and I would like better physics and animations rather than what appears to be a button mashing beat em up. I would've liked more creativity. looks like a bland, genetic beat em up using turtle characters from the show to me.
RIP Shredder (James Avery) --- I wish they used his old sound clips...god knows its possible! Imagine the library they could select from. ANYWAYS no complaints here! This looks like a gem & the game looks like it was crafted with 💘 & patience.
It's so good to have your review before the release, I'm so hyped about it and gonna scream COWABUNGA so much! My fav since I was a kid is Michelangelo, which one is yours?
I came to TH-cam to watch something else. But, I see Switchup, talking about TMNT. I immediately watch! I've been waiting for this game for feels like a very long time.
i think you can compare this game best to turtles in time since its the last true beat em up turtles that came out, and even back then the difficulty on normal was too easy, as a matter of fact the only way to get the true ending was to play it on hard mode. so generally difficulty has always been easy on normal. given the fact the team that made this new game used the old games as reference its a logical outcome that this games normal mode will end up on the easier side given story mode has infinite lives.
I’m not a turtles fan but I do remember watching it with my younger brothers when we were kids but I’ll be picking this up it looks a lot of fun and be nice to play it with my brothers when we next get together
Had a great time going through this game, not just the nostalgia charm but the composers have added some new spice to the soundtrack that hits so well with the hype in this game along with nostalgic respect remix songs of the old show. The art direction is a combination of going for a new style while also paying respect to the konami originals and the team went all out on the character animation, movement, the fluid movements of each character's weight in their attacks. Glad get to play as Splinter, April and Casey again. Why is it so rare to get to play as everyone's favourite Rat Dad, The Hockey Psycho Vigilante and Best reporter/tech nerd girl april in all the many tmnt games out there? I love playing as the boiz in green but it does suck seeing these other cool supporting protagonists just become npcs for story instead of gameplay even if it's not cannon to the story it would be nice just to play as Splinter for fun. Similar to when I play Mario/Sonic games. I love the main protagonist of those games but I always wish I could play as Luigi, Tails, Knuckles, Peach. I'm a sucker for supporting cast in alot of games.
Looking forward to playing with with my two young sons. Takes me back to my arcade days. Went all out and got a limited version of it. Free pizza with it! Thanks for reviewing it!
This looks amazingly thought Im an 80-90s sucker. Think value should also be 18 as thats a fair price for a new game with a popular ip, even if a bit short.

Thanks for the review, I'm so happy this game is as good as expected. I love that you mentioned Hero Turtles, I still have my childhood Hero Turtles mug from my time in the UK! No one ever believes me until I show them it!
teenage mutant ninja turtles Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TEENAGE MUTANT NUNJA TURTLES heroes in a half shell TURTLE POWER
Tatsu: "UGHHH!?"
Casey Jones: "Ugh....UGHHH! You know, a little primatene might just clear that up there."
This tmnt cartoon and graphics and story but botw open world style. 😍

oh wow, remember the punk frog lads??? Jesus this is taking me back!
Yeah, I remember them well mate. Glen
Every time I see this game in a video somewhere I'm blown away by the amazing visuals 😍

I never played any turtles game in the past but me and my brother had a blast beating it today
Leonardo was always mine! Glen
Nice video. Got this one on eshop pre order and I will be shelling out the pain tomorrow 😅
Just picked it up, happy to pay full price for this, you can really feel the love behind it!
Amazing, I need this in my life. This is pure nostalgia.
Loved the 80s cartoon. Leo an Mikey are my favourites.
I came to TH-cam to watch something else. But, I see Switchup, talking about TMNT. I immediately watch! I've been waiting for this game for feels like a very long time.

Had to see your review before buying even though I knew I was already getting it 😂 love the work you guys do every time
i think you can compare this game best to turtles in time since its the last true beat em up turtles that came out, and even back then the difficulty on normal was too easy, as a matter of fact the only way to get the true ending was to play it on hard mode. so generally difficulty has always been easy on normal. given the fact the team that made this new game used the old games as reference its a logical outcome that this games normal mode will end up on the easier side given story mode has infinite lives.
Yeah, very true mate. Glen
35 dollars for the physical, just checked. Bit much i think.
This looks so fun. My brother and I played turtles in time together.
Grew up with TMNT. Had the Pizza Hut VHS tapes, and watched the original live actions obsessively. Can’t wait for this.
So excited for this one. I already pre ordered it. SOR4, now this all my beat em classics are being given new lives! I just need a modern X-Men
This game looks fantastic. With Sunbreak around the corner, I might hold off until a better sale but I will definitely be buying it in the future

This looks amazingly thought Im an 80-90s sucker.
Think value should also be 18 as thats a fair price for a new game with a popular ip, even if a bit short.
