I was playing this the other night and I had a revelation. As a ninja turtles fan we have a game where Casey, Usagi, Mondo and Master Splinter can fight at the same time. It's literally a dream come true. 💚🎮
Shredders revenge is amazing!!!! I need that company to create an updated beatem up featuring marvel heros (especially x-men). Who can I talk to to make that happen?? :)
Karate Kid seems high priced and is lacking in content but we still have Power Rangers, Toxic Cruisaders, GI Joe, and a lot of indie beat em ups coming soon.
They really need more co-op games like these. The Streets of Rage 4 game pretty much killed itself by only allowing two player co-ops during the arcade modes. Why? You'd have assumed that these next-gen consoles could handle more than two active players at once.
Its balance, 6 players in this game is too easy.. so4 is a better game but if you are playing online it's basically unplayable while shredders revenge has rollback netcode I think so it's a better experience on that front, the balance falls apart though
i wish someone would update the controls for all these retro fighter. create a fighter and movelist has to be easy tor these kinds of games. id like a grapple button with move trees and counter button, simplify tunning and running attacks. pretty much wef no mercy controls.🤷🏻♂️
I'm so glad you made this video, I didn't even know that DLC was out since I've only been playing SNES and Sega lately. I got it this weekend remembered just how great this game really is. I think this is the best beat em up there's ever been. I don't just say that because I love the source material, the games pace is just absolutely perfect.
Speaking of that 2012 article by ign, you don't need to fast forward a decade, just 1 year later in 2013 Vanillaware would grace us with in my opinion the best game of the genre, that game is Dragon's Crown*. * some may argue that Dragon's Crown is not a beat-em up but an actionRPG, it does however play and look like a beat-em up just one that is not imitating the style of the arcades of old but is instead made to provide longer play with progression in gear, levels and skills.

Easy enough that it does not take too long to get the hang off it but complex enough that it keeps things interesting. Now I gotta ask: what is so4? Heard it's the final DLC for this game. That's kinda sad. Would've loved to see Aska (from the SNES version of TMNT Tournament Fighters) and Venus di Milo as playable DLC.

The combo system in this game is amazing and satisfying. Once you get in the flow of doing a combo, dodging back, combo on another enemy, dodging back to the original enemy and so forth, you start racking up a huge combo counter. Truly great

That one is not the same company from Shredder's Revenge. It's being published by Harsbro Retro Arcade and is developed by Digital Eclipse. That one looks basic AF though as all the Rangers have the exact same attacks.
It is a fun game at first but the characters look childish. They have given it little difficulty which makes it less replayable. The fact of putting April as a playable character knowing that she is only a reporter seems quite silly to me. There are more female characters who ARE warriors. Anyway, it was entertaining as soon as it went on sale but it's not on par with TMNT 2 or 4.
This game was phenomenal, an instant classic! I had originally bought it on my Xbox One, but when I went PS5 this Gen, I bought it again there to continue replaying it and to have a platform to play any new content for it, like this new Radical Reptiles expansion!
Time for another fully fledged fighting spin-off, sort of a reboot of Tournament Fighters! They have great foundation now with the extensive roster they built of so momentum is really, there with 25+ characters in their disposal right now, it's all up to their will to do or not to do it. If i were in their shoes, i would go for it! A modern TMNT fighting game would be dream come true for many fans!
I was always more of a Battletoads kind of guy, but I did try Turtle's In Time a few times. Shredder's Revenge looks so neat and as a fan of Beat 'Em Up games, I will definitely give this one a go and maybe even make a rock cover from the game as the music is also solid

It's like they set out to create the greatest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Beat Em Up ever. And then did. No small task considering some the previous ones. Shame some other older properties getting Beat Em Ups in the wake of this didn't get as much love and care. I'll see how the GI Joe one turned out, but I definitly have doubts for the Power Rangers one.
I find it curious that in the discussion of the modern reprisal of the Beat-'Em-Up formula, you left Dragon's Crown out of the conversation. Might you perhaps have never played it? It's unfortunately shackled to Sony's line of consoles, because I feel it would do far better commercially if not limited to a very narrow slice of an already narrowed slice of gaming market. It truly is one of the finest modern Brawlers and should be played by all aficionados of the genre, especially those who enjoyed the D&D games by Capcom.

Yes. DLC has never required digital games. Case in point the PS3, Wii and 360 was the generation that DLC was introduced and 90% of that game library was disc only.
I have blu-ray collection of the "TMNT movies. I remember the TMNT 2 movie turtles and and also having a Mondo Gecko action figure as a kid. Mondo Gecko fits right in with the the turtles. The game is perfect now.,😃👏

Dragons crown was too simple in the gameplay for my tastes, the combat was mind numbingly basic, so4 is the best

I loved the attention to detail and references. One such example is the Rat King’s boat from Turtles in Time. So good.

mona lisa is basically the long range karai. Mondo Gecko is like, the 2025 meta once the pros figure out his jump attack mechanic XD
This game, along with Streets of Rage 4, inspired me to create my own brawler.

I really wanna see characters from the show as playable characters like Bug Man and Muck Man. There was also a Robocop knock-off that'd be pretty sweet...
I hope the Mutant Frogs become DLC Playable. One had a mace, another an Axe, Bow and Arrow. It would be great gameplay

I would mention Castle Crashers as a modern classic. But then I looked it up and it released 2008.

It's like they set out to create the greatest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Beat Em Up ever. And then did. No small task considering some the previous ones.
Shame some other older properties getting Beat Em Ups in the wake of this didn't get as much love and care. I'll see how the GI Joe one turned out, but I definitly have doubts for the Power Rangers one.
I find it curious that in the discussion of the modern reprisal of the Beat-'Em-Up formula, you left Dragon's Crown out of the conversation. Might you perhaps have never played it? It's unfortunately shackled to Sony's line of consoles, because I feel it would do far better commercially if not limited to a very narrow slice of an already narrowed slice of gaming market. It truly is one of the finest modern Brawlers and should be played by all aficionados of the genre, especially those who enjoyed the D&D games by Capcom.

Would’ve loved a survivor mode in this, start off with 6 characters on a level and keep playing till only one character remains.

Yes. DLC has never required digital games.
Case in point the PS3, Wii and 360 was the generation that DLC was introduced and 90% of that game library was disc only.

I have blu-ray collection of the "TMNT movies. I remember the TMNT 2 movie turtles and and also having a Mondo Gecko action figure as a kid. Mondo Gecko fits right in with the the turtles. The game is perfect now.,😃👏

The ONE thing this game gets wrong is throwing the enemies towards the screen. It has no impact or weight. It feels better in Super Nintendo.
Noticed that, back then it felt like my screen would shatter if I sent enough baddies at the screen 😅
I really enjoyed this game and its online is much better but its a bit simple for my tastes and streets of rage 4 takes the crown for me at this point
