I need to work on getting my foot and ankle reconnected to my brain. I will feel way more confident walking. Right now, I have to pick up my foot when I walk.
You have helped me so much! I’m going to go for the gold! I’ve already received the value of the membership cost. Thank you so much for all you do for the stroke community!
When I first walked on the uneven grassy ground, I was confused, I quickly realized the problem and often walk with the dog on the grass. It's tiring but very useful. Thanks Tara for learning, successful and happy new 2024.
Happy New year Dr Tara , above shared very informative and helpful. Fear of falling engulfs in me . Now that i am going to learn exercises from you . I should be more confident. Thank you so much
I wear a BRACE and use a CANE. I started walking in parking lots that go up and down hills. Now I walk dirt foot paths, that go up and down hills. Walking up hill is no problem. Going down is not easy. I am worried that I will lose my footing and go crashing down. What I do is go on the edge of the path ware the ground is more solid.(not washed out.) I take tiny steps and go slow. I get down the hills in one piece. I have to keep telling myself. It is OK to go slow. It is not a race. We are not NINGER Warriors. Now I am going to work on my wobble board.
Hello Dr.Tara. Thank you for your videos. Is there any way to have a progression video or mark them as a progression? Like how to walk.. 1st step in the progression, then the 2nd step in the progression, and so on. Because I am at a higher progression and I don't want to watch the videos over and over!!!
I just fell! I missed the threshold to my bathroom. I wear an AFO on my affected leg (left). My ankle rolls without it. I’ve been recovering for 10 years.
I've been recovering from hip replacements since 2019. Last year I had developed foot flop so I'm dealing with that too as well as my hips not being 100% yet. Don't give up girl!
I will be so happy to relearn the walk again🙏
You will.

This is exactly where I am 3 years post acute ischemic stroke. I feel like the spasticity is leaving my foot. I work hard and pray.

Yes! I love these tips! Slow and steady wins the race 😊
Can you do a video on confidence going down stairs without a railing ?

How does one go from walking to running again?
Stepping onto a ramp is bad for me, because I walk with a stiff knee and the knee hyperextends bad when I’m walking up the ramp
Tara, those of us with ankle spasticity (and thus, wear an AFO or MAFO) since we don't have the ankle mobility, should we avoid the wobble board?
You should not try anything new without first working with a therapist in person.
Isit safe, ok to do these if you wear a KAFO?
no
First comment 😊
