  • Continuing with the Mechanical work and the smart turn signal controller I successfully removed all the front end components, and I got my Arduino controlled blinker unit fully functional! Good stuff, and a great episode. Enjoy!

those old motorhomes were way ahead of their time when they were made. My uncle had one when I was a kid.
However they're never going to be good at high altitude with a carburetor and adding fuel injection is easy enough but the hard part is the fuel mileage. Your never going to get fuel mileage with a 3-speed automatic unless you keep your speed under 55 all the time. But those things are brilliant. A masterpiece of General Motors😊

On your rusted steering part and rusted brake master cylinder, there's a product called POR 15 it's a paint over rust product that neutralizes rust and covers it in chassis black color.

the side marker are allowed to be out of phase with the front and rear blinked, i know because both on my 1977 chevy G10 van and 1988 chevy s10 truck the side makers do blink out of phase when turn signals are on. Since its factory for many 1970s and 1980s GM vehicles it has to be allowed, and I think it looks pretty and and also helps people's awareness when one is changing lanes.
Side note for those playing with LED bulbs on these older GM vehicles. With these GM's of 70's and early 80's when you add LEDs sometimes they do not work correctly when you have your parking lights or headlights on at night, even when you change the turn signal blinker relay on the fuse box to a newer one made for for LED. .On both my 77 and 88 I added LED bulbs everywhere but I leave the standard incandescent bulbs in the front signals. If I change those to LED's then the always something screwy happens like the front turn signals stay solid without blinking. .
So they do make different style blinker relays that use a different "solid state" method and do not use the heated filament method to make the turn signals blink. Check out Napa or Oreiley's and you can find them for most any 70's or 80's car. they last longer and can handle more loads when you add trailers and more lights on a vehicle.

Just an FYI: The Cadillac service manual for the Eldorado with the same front wheel drivetrain configuration says to replace the six 12 point bolts that holds the axle to the inner diff adapter, not to reuse them if you take them apart.

Evapo-rust gel for that pitman arm and brake cyl. Brush it on the rusty areas, let it work, then wash off with water. Dry them then paint.

You can use the relay activated on the signal before the flasher relay to disconnect the running lights when indicators are turned on and it should solve all of your problems.

I don't think you will be happy with the two LED side marker lights. If one LED is on (Park Lights) and the second LED is flashing (Turn Indicator), because both LEDs are the same intensity, I do not think you will be able to see the flashing LED very well.

There is a tool for unloading the torsion bars, it saves the threads from wearing out as it's not good to turn them under load. Oh, and the hub drive bolts are called Ferry bolts, or commonly 12-point bolts. My newish brake reservoir/master cylinder is just as rusty

Simple solution from Mustie1: chain oil diluted with some kerose. It dries smooth and protects from more rust.
He and I use it to rustproof frame rails and underbody. Very effective. Just my two cents.

As a Design Engineer myself - I have to comment as you refer to the KISS method several times in this video and others - yet, you want to 'redesign' a whole bunch of different "off-the-shelf" items. Like the tank vents - the kitchen stove vent grill, the turn signals, etc. All - off the shelf easily replaceable components. yet you want to reinvent the wheel it seems. not sure I follow why. With that said, I did like the side vent cover design with the recessed louvers. but the roof vent - again, if it breaks - you can't go to any store and buy it - you have to print a new one, etc. that's not kiss in my opinion. also - any of those 3D printed parts, as I'm sure you know - should be painted for UV protection....or they will likely fail in short time. especially something like the mirror mounts with that wind load on them. appreciate the videos regardless - as I am hoping to pickup my GMC here in a few weeks after bank processing paperwork.

I see a potential legality issue with your front running light/turn signal, the one integrated with the headlight. I read some where, and have seen in real life, that if the running light and turn signal are within a certain distance of each other, then they must use a special flashing pattern. Specifically, if the running light is on, then when the turn signal is activated, the running light must turn off and stay off while the turn signal flashes on and off. Once the turn signal is finished flashing, then the running light can turn on again. I believe this is to make the turn signal flashing more noticeable. The ideal is that what is essentially one lamp switching back and forth from white to amber is not as distinct as flashing from off to amber.
Here is the Jalopnik article that explains it.

Here is the Orientation video for the GMC Motorhome it shows the 3 roof vents. It looks like the rear most one on the passenger side is for the discharge tube. The other two are for the sink on the driver's side and the black water tank, or the shower (?), on the passenger side.
